: Hi Brad – 10 Team NL only auction. Deciding between my last 2 keepers. I am thinking either Strop / AJ Minter (theoretically could not have to bid on a closer) or L Castillo / Marquez (2 low floor, high ceiling lottery picks). The Auction calculator say to go with the latter, and I hate wasting keeper spots on closers….but SAVES! Any advice?
|
3:53 |
: Definitely go for the SP
|
3:53 |
: I think I still prefer Marquez by a small margin (was asked the same Castillo or Marquez in past weeks)
|
3:53 |
: They’re both very talented pitchers with some ballpark and track record issues.
|
Here is today’s chat transcript.
3:55 |
: We’ll kick off in a few minutes
|
3:57 |
: 6×6 H2H (w/OPS) who do you like better, Colin Moran or Renato Nunez (it’s a deep league).
|
3:58 |
: Moran is massively more talented. Nunez is not a major league player.
|
3:58 |
: That said, there’s a rather unhindered opportunity for Nunez whereas Moran is on the way out in Pittsburgh. Ke’Bryan Hayes seems likely to take over 3B by mid-season and Kang is still around too.
|
3:58 |
: Plus some utility guys
|
3:59 |
: it’s a crowded infield
|
7:59 |
: Now that Zips projections are done, have the depth charts projections been updated?
|
7:59 |
: Let me look
|
8:00 |
: Not yet
|
8:00 |
: They probably will once ZiPs is added to the projection list
|
8:01 |
: Hi Jeff: I’m in a 16 tm 12 kpr pts. league with a minimal deduction for Ks by batters (-.25). I need to choose btw Laureano and C. Hernandez as my final keeper. Hiura is on my prospect bench. I traded away my first pick so I won’t be drafting until late in the second rd. Thx for these Sun. night chats! (Other OFs that will be kprs: Hicks, Peralta, & Robles)
|
8:02 |
: I’d stick with Cesar. I see a bounce back after playing hurt for most of the 2018 season.

We chatted, it’s true. Alas, the chat is complete. You can read a transcript though.
4:01 |
: Ok, we’ll get started in a few moments.
|
4:02 |
: Would you keep Almora in the 27th round of a 15 team mixed 5 x 5?
|
4:03 |
: If there is no other opportunity cost, I’d probably strongly consider locking in the young OFer. That’s right around his ADP in a redraft, but his age maybe makes him a bit more interesting in a keep-for-awhile setting
|
4:04 |
: How much auction $ would you spend on guys like Vlad/Soto/Acuna if you could keep them at zero cost forever after the initial start up dynasty draft? Stars/scrubs seems like the logical approach to me…Get as many as possible and piece together from there?
|
4:04 |
: I can’t say for certain without seeing all your settings, but my inclination is to go heavy for those guys
|
4:05 |
: In a 12-team keep forever (up to 7), do you hold onto Ohtani and Mondesi?
|

A transcript of today’s chat is available. We argued about the merits of rankings.
3:55 |
: We’ll get this thing going in a few minutes. I got lost in the news of the day and forgot to put this post together.
|
3:56 | : If you didn’t vote in this morning’s poll, I’d appreciate the info. |
4:01 |
: Do you buy into the Conforto breakout I’ve seen in numerous publications in 2019?
|
4:01 |
: Wasn’t really a breakout. He was good. Then he played injured for half a season. Then he was good again. So I think he’s still a good player
|
4:02 |
: You should expect more than his 2018 production but a little less than his second half production. That’s a very useful fantasy asset and better than his current ADP.
|
4:02 |
: What does Padres infield look like now? Does this delay Tatis?
|
It’s 90 degrees in Austin so I’m in a great mood, let’s talk some baseball!
6:58 |
: Hi everyone |

: Here is a link to the draft: |
6:59 |
: It looks like we have 15 minutes until the first pick |
7:00 |
: 5 x 5 roto with average |

: Curious how far Lindor will fall.. if early indications are true and his ADP is around 16 ish, that’s right in the Fangraphs wheelhouse.. do they bite? |
