7:35
$11 Worth of Taco Bell: Time for Goins?

7:35
Jeff Zimmerman: Yes. He’s made some changes which have helped him out but if the Happy Fun Ball goes away, so will his production.

7:36
Matt Klentak: You rocking Keller as a 2 starts SP this week?

7:36
Jeff Zimmerman: I’m not that brave just yet He’s been really bad.

7:37
Tim: I can’t buy Aquino, he swings at everything and struggles to make contact. I can’t find a comparable player to his 17% SwTrk in AAA at age 25 who went on to MLB success. Baez had the whiffs but at age 21. Gallo similar but at 22 and with exceptional patience. Closest 2019 AAA comp is Brinson. In terms of aggression/contact profile best case comp I find is Renfroe – do you think Aquino can be more and if so, how?

7:38
Jeff Zimmerman: You may be right but in all 15-team leagues, there are no Renfroes on the wire. We are happy to Berti and Frazier

7:38
Don Juan: Projection for The Punisher ROS?

7:38
Jeff Zimmerman: Don’t know right now. I want to wait until at least the ROS to make a call

7:38
Michael : Thoughts on Jose Alvarado’s roll upon return?  Worth a pickup?

7:39
Jeff Zimmerman: You want me to guess what the Rays will do with their bullpen. I’m not Jesus Christ

7:39
Don Juan: How much do you buy Aaron Sanchez?

7:40
Jeff Zimmerman: Not this much but he’s been good before. Maybe to 2015 levels

7:40
Matt Klentak: Price & Snell both worth a DL stash at this point? Either helping in next 4 weeks?

7:40
Jeff Zimmerman: Not Price, I’d hold onto Snell any setback and he’s gone.

7:41
Jeff Zimmerman: In one NFBC league, I’m really considering cutting Stanton. It would be nice to have the roster spot

7:41
Brian: Buster Posey droppable in 15 team NFBC? Can’t trade him, have G.Sanchez/W.Smith as starters – drop for someone like Folty/Civale/Keller/etc?

7:42
Jeff Zimmerman: Drop him. It sucks that no trading exists but I’d hold on to the pitching

7:42
Jon: Is Kenley Jansen or Roberto Osuna worth dropping for a SPARP like Joe Ross or Adrian Houser in a points league? Both guys hardly pitch bc their teams are so good and have blown up once per week all season. Thanks!

7:42
Jeff Zimmerman: Depending on league rules, they could be worth a drop.

7:43
Chixie Dix: Looking for your opinion on this…

I sent a trade offer in my roto league (my Mondesi and Mancini for K. Bryant). It was accepted by the other owner. We then receive a message from the commissioner saying the trade will have to be voided as the trade deadline was supposed to be July 31st. According to our league page, it said the deadline was August 23rd.

Other owners not involved think it should go through but the co-commissioners are wanting to find out if one of them changed the deadline date.

Is this a valid trade in your book or should it be vetoed?

7:43
Jeff Zimmerman: Valid. What else were you supposed to do but follow the league rules.

7:43
Al Avila: Does Spencer Turnbull produce any meaningful fantasy value ROS? Or is he an easy drop with the looming innings limit and marginal peripherals?

7:44
Jeff Zimmerman: It all comes down to league depth. In some leagues, owners will need to get everything from him and in others, he waiver wire fodder

7:45
Don Juan: Matt Boyd hasn’t had a monthly ERA under 4.7 since May.  Is he essentially strikeouts and garbage? He certainly doesn’t see to be ranked like that by everyone.

7:46
Jeff Zimmerman: A lot of his value was anchored to the early start. I see him as a Chris Archer type with just two pitches and therefore the fastball gets hit around.

7:46
Cito’s Mustache: Tauchman, JD Davis, Aquino, Sogard, Winker – who is your preference in 10-team 6×6 roto w/ OBP? I’m leading in counting stats, really just need the AVG and OBP boost at this point.

7:46
Jeff Zimmerman: Tauchman while he continues to play

7:46
Chixie Dix: Desperate for a 2B.

My Hoskins, Pham, and Gallen/McKay for his Ramirez and Darvish fair enough? There is also draft pick compensation involved. No keeper ramifications.

7:47
Jeff Zimmerman: Yes. I’d try to hold onto McKay. Great matchups this week

7:47
Cito’s Mustache: Any thoughts on Taillon’s ability to meaningfully contribute in 2020?

7:48
Jeff Zimmerman: I’m going to withhold judgement until I start getting some fastball velocities.

7:49
Kelly: Margot Or Senzel next week only?

7:50
Jeff Zimmerman: Pay the guys at Razz the $20 for their rankings.

7:50
7:50
Jeff Zimmerman: For less than $1 per week, you can get a ton of matchup rankings.

7:50
Jeff Zimmerman: The time savings are huge

7:52
Jeff Zimmerman: This week Senzel’s at $12 in Roto value and Margot at -$2

7:52
Harry H: Much chance Zach Pleasac develops like Shane Bieber, as they seem to be similar types, or is his stuff significantly different/inferior? Thanks

7:53
Jeff Zimmerman: I think it’s inferior. I prefer Civale over Pleasac.

7:53
Aquino in Dynasty: I took a wire flyer on him in a 30-team dynasty. Trade offers are pouring in. What range of MLB-caliber players can I reasonably ask for?

7:53
Jeff Zimmerman: I’d go for a Joey Gallo return, Maybe Stanton.

7:53
Jeff Zimmerman: And tell them that

7:54
WillSmithRakes: would you rather Lamet for the rest of this season as well as $1 for the next 2 seasons OR Lynn for the rest of this season and $2 for just next year OR Benintendi for the rest of this season and $4 for just next year

7:54
Jeff Zimmerman: Benintendi. I’ll always go with hitters.

7:54
Chris L: Do you feel confident Civale will stay in the rotation when Kluber returns?

7:55
Jeff Zimmerman: Depends on how’s he’s doing and if everyone else can stay healthy.

7:55
frankiebones: Pineda or Heaney ROS?

7:55
Jeff Zimmerman: Heaney since he’s healthy right now

7:55
Excaliber: Odds Melancon is out and Luke Jackson is back in Atlanta. Out of moves and gambled on Melancon. Thanks, Paul!

7:55
Jeff Zimmerman: Paul!!???

7:56
Jeff Zimmerman: Another I don’t know. I was guessing Martin at one point last night.

7:56
Down by Law: Related: any chance of a new closer ranking? I’ve collected all the bad ones but want to know who’s the worst (Robles, pagan, bass, workman, leclerc are my current guys)

7:57
Jeff Zimmerman: Maybe but not from me. I was doing it for the trade deadline with so many moving pieces.

7:57
Dave: I’m in a roto and one of 4 teams that are neck and neck going for first. It’s a three year keeper league. Should I trade Josh Bell at $5 for Trout at $85 (that’s right! He was drafted at that price). Flags fly forever, right?

7:57
Jeff Zimmerman: Make the trade and don’t look back

7:57
aquinoGOAT: Most holds rest of season? Stammen, Gallegos, Harris, Bummer

7:59
Jeff Zimmerman: In The Process, I looked into projecting Holds. The key was getting the most talented pitcher. Just look up this group’s projections and take the best one. I’m guessing it’s Gallegos.

7:59
Brock: I have one utility spot to rotate between Renfroe, Kingery, Choo and Sano. ROS who would you roll with?

8:00
Jeff Zimmerman: They are close so you might need to take the one who helps you in the categories you need help with. I’d take Sano in a neutral setting.

8:00
John: 12-tm, dynasty. H2H most categories
Puig or Castellanos ROS? What about long-term (5yrs) value?

8:00
Jeff Zimmerman: Puig, Puig

8:01
Guest: Drop Danny Santana for Aquino this week? 10-Team H2H Category League – – Already have Lindor, Baez, Puig for steals and I’m pretty Santana has stolen one base in the last month or so

8:02
Jeff Zimmerman: Sure but I have a tough time wrapping my head around the depth in a 10-team league.

8:02
Fried cat: Afraid of starting Fried vs the Mets?

8:02
Jeff Zimmerman: No. I used Thorton against the Yankees today.

8:03
Ray: 10-tm, redraft, H2H (shallow rosters, 25 players max, 2 IL spots)

Folty, ReyLo, DeSclafani, Archer, Lamet, Quantrill, Odorizzi, Plesac. Rank them ROS.

8:04
Jeff Zimmerman: Just use our auction calc with ROS stats: https://www.fangraphs.com/auctiontool.aspx

8:04
Choo’d Out: Do you decreased PT for guys like Braun and Choo in these next couple months?

8:04
Jeff Zimmerman: I do

8:04
Bravos: IS Folty worth the  FAAB he’s going for? Not great today.

8:05
Jeff Zimmerman: He seems to be getting a ton of love from his name. I noticed it doing the FAAB projections.

8:06
James: 12-tm, H2H most categories, weekly lineups
McMahon or Tapia off the WW for this week? The Rockies spend all week in Coors. Also, would they be better a better option than O. Mercado? I have 1 empty spot to fill.

8:07
Jeff Zimmerman: McMahon for sure. I don’t have a good feel of how much Tapia is playing. He’d need to play every day to out-earn Mercado.

8:08
Jeff Zimmerman: Looks like Tapia is only facing righties: https://www.fangraphs.com/teams/rockies/player-usage/batting-lineup

8:08
Jeff Zimmerman: Check the starters

8:08
Big Boi: Thoughts on Mike Ford?

8:09
Jeff Zimmerman: I think him a ton but the playing time is an issue.

8:09
Ramon: Carson Kelly, Will Smith or Roberto Perez ROS? Need help with Contreras out.

8:10
Jeff Zimmerman: Smith but if these three are on the wire, maybe stream C. I know AZ is at COL this week.

8:10
Jesus Christ: I have bigger concerns than the Rays bullpen

8:10
Jeff Zimmerman: True

8:10
Guest: Who would you start in a 12 team AL only H2H league using OBP…..Aguilar or Bichette?

8:11
Jeff Zimmerman: Aguilar since he’s in the AL

8:11
Smokey: Is Stanton worth holding ROS?

My league is a 5×5 (QS and OBP), 12-team, 6 keeper league. Right now, I have Dahl (20th rd keeper cost), Brandon Woodruff (17th rd), and Glasnow (8th rd) all on the DL.

Stanton cannot be kept at all for next season and I don’t know if he will return prior to September. I’m attempting to squeak into the playoffs after injuries destroyed my early season.

8:12
Jeff Zimmerman: You might have to drop him. I’m considering it in one of my NFBC leagues

8:12
Nickles: So is Aquino the new Wily Mo Pena? Like, as soon as the league makes adjustments, will he be playing in another league in another country?

8:13
Jeff Zimmerman: No idea. I’m just enjoying it for now. It could be Wily Mo Pena or Jose Bautista

8:13
Wade the White: Looking for a follower to get wins without games started. I have Wade theBlanc, but would Jalen Beeks or Nestor Cortes be an upgrade? Do you think Dillon Peters might get an opener? Thanks!

8:14
Jeff Zimmerman: Beeks is nice if he gets the starter.

8:14
Jeff Zimmerman: Someone should collect these “starts” and make them available to the public.

8:15
Jeff Zimmerman: Or we can write another top-10 hitters to add article.

8:15
EvDawg: At what point is Mitch Haniger cuttable in a 12 team roto dynasty?  I have him for 5% of my budget and I have much better long term options in the outfield.  Should I cut him?

8:16
Jeff Zimmerman: The price is about right. $13 in a $260 budget league.

8:16
Jeff Zimmerman: If going for it this year, drop him. Otherwise, keep him.

8:16
Michael : Any idea what’s going on with Grandal’s power?  Thinking of picking up a backup catcher until he figures it out.  Darnaud is available.

8:17
Jeff Zimmerman: Catchers can wear down. I’d hold at least and if you have room, bench for d’Arnaud

8:17
Chixie Dix: Thank you for your opinion on the trade issue!

Piggy-backing off of what you said earlier about Price. If I’m worried about going over our IP limit, should he be gone if I’m looking at relievers to boost ratios?

8:17
Jeff Zimmerman: For sure

8:18
Babyfarts: Dynasty league – is Musgrove droppable in the 12 team format with 10 open bench spots?

8:18
Jeff Zimmerman: Yea … he’s really not a keeper

8:18
Brock: Utility spot ROS: Brian Anderson, Choo, Renfroe, Choo

8:18
Jeff Zimmerman: 2nd Choo

8:18
Gone Goins: Al obp: goins, Alberto or brosseau? Thanks!

8:19
Jeff Zimmerman: It’s Goins but be ready to move on if the changes don’t stick

8:19
Excaliber: So terribly sorry, Jeff. Love you and Sporer. Live for your chats. Three hours from my league trading deadline and I brain farted. Thanks for everything you do for us!

8:19
Jeff Zimmerman: No problem.

8:20
CyBuehler: Do you expect Lux to be called up this season? If so, when?

8:22
Jeff Zimmerman: Sept 1 when roster expands to play 2 to 3 days a week. I see him as fantasy irrelevant.

8:22
Favre: Happ Turner or J.D Davis at 3b this week?

8:22
Jeff Zimmerman: Davis

8:22
JocVsRighties: When do you expect Stanton back?

8:22
Jeff Zimmerman: Sept 1st … maybe

8:22
Mike: 12-tm, H2H, redraft
2 UTIL spots for: Kingery, Franmil, Biggio, Mercado. Must drop 2 so how would you rank them?

8:23
Jeff Zimmerman: Mercado, Franmil …. Biggio, Kingery

8:23
Andy: Dump Khris Davis for Mercado 12t h2h?

8:23
Jeff Zimmerman: I would

8:23
stros19champs: pick 1 to keep for just next season: Smith (C), Aquino, Laureano, Giolito

8:23
Jeff Zimmerman: Laureano

8:24
NoMorA Mazara: Thoughts on dropping Mazara for Maybin, Berti, Demeritte, or Ian Happ?

8:24
Jeff Zimmerman: I would not

8:24
Gavin: H2H points league, have logjam at SS with Turner, Tatis, Polanco.  Okay trying to trade Turner or Tatis?  otherwise I’ll probably just end up dropping Polanco

8:25
Jeff Zimmerman: Try to trade one of the three. It’ll make it easier to find a match

8:25
Chixie Dix: Thank you, Nickles, for the Wily Mo Pena comp. I haven’t thought about that guy in years. Loved him when I was growing up.

8:25
dave in slc: in an al only would you rather have givens or law for saves?

8:25
Jeff Zimmerman: Law

8:25
GonzoChicago: You holding any hope for Voit or does even a comeback mean low power with an injured core?

8:26
Jeff Zimmerman: I have little hope and believe the Yankees will take their time with him so he’s healthy for the playoffs

8:26
Mack: W Adames or Isan Diaz? JD Davis or F Reyes?

8:27
Jeff Zimmerman: Diaz and …..Reyes

8:27
Shaun: Which 2 start pitcher to grab this week – Gallen or Wood. Gallen is at COL. enough to swap to Wood?

8:27
Jeff Zimmerman: Get Wood

8:27
Greg Allen: Am I a thing again? Started 5 of past 6 games.

8:27
Jeff Zimmerman: I think it’s because Luplow is hurt

8:27
Gavin: Joe Ross has looked pretty good his last 2 starts.  Can he be a solid streamer down the stretch?

8:28
Jeff Zimmerman: Yes

8:28
timmy: reynaldo lopez  or kyle gibson ROS?

8:28
Jeff Zimmerman: I like Gibson for the Wins

8:28
Brian: Thoughts on Plesac this week: vs BOS, @ NYY ?? Other options are a middle reliever or FAAB a spot starter available in 15 team leagues.

8:28
Jeff Zimmerman: FAAB a guy

8:29
Cito’s Mustache: Drop Oberg for Lugo?

8:29
Jeff Zimmerman: No

8:30
desmond hume: Laureano or Benintendi for just next season

8:30
Jeff Zimmerman: Laureano. I like his balanced approach

8:30
Manaea Time?: Is this the week to cheaply stash Sean Manaea?

8:31
Jeff Zimmerman: Setbacks. I’d rather have CC coming off the IL

8:31
Jeff Zimmerman: That’s it for this week. Talk to everyone next week.
