For this column, any lineup regulars, starting pitchers, or late-inning relievers are considered “notable,” meaning that middle relievers, long relievers, and bench players are excluded. You can always find a full list of updated transactions here.

Elehuris Montero started at DH and batted 8th vs RHP.
While Michael Toglia earned the final roster spot over Sean Bouchard, it wasn’t clear how the at-bats would be divided between Montero, Toglia, and Jake Cave. Facing Diamondbacks’ ace Zac Gallen on Opening Day, it was Montero (0-for-3) who got the start while Kris Bryant played 1B and Charlie Blackmon played RF. I’d still expect some sort of committee between Montero, Toglia, and Cave until one of them can separate themselves.

The chart includes their last season performance until we get some actual data for this year, their opponent’s wOBA versus the pitcher’s handedness from last year (and then I’ll add the last 30 days outlook next month), my general start/sit recommendation for 10-team, 12-team, and 15-team (or more) leagues, and then a note about them (well, no notes for this first weekend since we’re mostly just going off the preseason analysis, but I will answer as many comments as I can). Obviously, there are league sizes beyond those three so it’s essentially a shallow, medium, deep. If a pitcher only has an “x” in 15-team, it doesn’t mean there’s no potential use in 10s and 12s, but it’s basically a risky stream for those spots.
These are general recommendations, and your league situation will carry more weight whether you are protecting ratios or chasing counting numbers. This is for standard 5×5 roto leagues. The thresholds for H2H starts are generally lower, especially in points leagues so I thought there would be more value focusing on roto.
This will come out the night before most days. I had a late night draft last night and just couldn’t stay up to finish it afterwards. But it’s Opening Day so most of the decisions are pretty easy!

• First, there is a ton of garbage coming from writers right now that feels canned as everyone gets ready for the regular season. Most of the news is either the last bench spot or bullpen spot which doesn’t matter for fantasy. Or injury news covered by everyone. I’ve read through so much trash the last couple of days and this is all I have found and I’m sorry for the lack of content. Look at the bright side, you didn’t dig around for the information.

This is the debut of “RosterResource Roundup”, which will be a regular feature here at FanGraphs. As you probably know, the baseball news cycle moves quickly. My job is to pay close attention and keep all of our RosterResource content updated. Between the rosters and depth charts, playing time projections, transaction tracker, closer depth chart, injury report, and payroll pages, you can get a pretty good idea of what happened throughout the day and what’s coming next. Taking it a step further and offering context is the goal of this column.
Once the regular season begins, this roundup will include a list of notable roster moves, as well as future expected moves and a Minor League Report, which includes a list of recent major league debuts, top prospect promotions, and players who are “knocking down the door” to the majors. Any lineup regulars, starting pitchers, or late-inning relievers are considered “notable,” meaning that middle relievers, long relievers, and bench players are normally excluded. You can always find a full list of updated transactions here.
Within these roundups, I will provide information that is relevant to each team’s closing situation, including injury updates, notes from that day’s games, and “Relievers on the Rise”. As we get deeper into the season, I’ll have features on trade candidates, rankings for next offseason’s free agents, updates on how teams and players are doing versus their pre-season projections, and much more.
For today, here is a look at each team’s most recent developments and what decisions still need to be made ahead of Opening Day.
AL EAST

Recent Developments:
•Jackson Holliday reassigned to minors, allowing both Jordan Westburg (2B) and Ramón Urías (3B) to play on a regular basis to begin the season.
•Colton Cowser made the team.
•Tyler Nevin has not officially won a bench job, but he’s the last man standing after Nick Maton and Ryan McKenna were told that they would not make the Opening Day roster. All three players are out of options.
•Keegan Akin won the final bullpen spot after Bryan Baker and Jonathan Heasley were optioned.
UPDATE 3/26: Tony Kemp was signed to a MLB contract. Nevin will now likely be traded or designated for assignment. UPDATE 3/28: Jacob Webb will begin the season on the Paternity List. Nick Vespi was recalled.
