2021 Final TGFBI ADP

It is that time of year again! TGFBI concluded all 29 of their drafts and twitter is buzzing with draft boards and TGFBI chatter. If you don’t know what TGFBI is, it stands for The Great Fantasy Baseball Invitational. It is a collection of 29 15-team leagues with an overall component run by yours truly. To get into TGFBI, you must either be producing fantasy baseball related content, win a satellite league, or win a raffle that I put on during events like Podapolooza.

Left-Handed SPs By Division

One of the toughest player types to analyze and decide on in fantasy drafts is the left-handed stud who can’t or hasn’t been given a real chance to hit against lefties and thus is a platoon risk. Losing that extra playing time eats into the counting categories. Every year I like to look at the projected lefty starters by division and get an idea of what these potential platoon bats might be facing. We will go division-by-division looking at the projected lefty starters in every rotation and then look at the potential left-handed platoon bats who could affected.

All info was gathered from the Roster Resource Depth Charts

AL EAST: 10

With 10 projected lefties, the AL East has the most in baseball. It is a pretty strong group with Means, Rodriguez, Montgomery, Hill, Yarbrough, and Ryu all being drafted in just about every format while Ray, Matz, and Perez have had their big seasons (especially against lefties) and Akin held them to a .576 OPS in 27 PA last year.

Mining the News (3/15/21)

• Every few days, I’ve been updating these Spring Training velocity readings.

American League

Astros

Yordan Alvarez will have to sit for a couple of days whenever he plays in the field.

“I can’t get on board with that yet until we get clearance from the trainers,” Baker said. “It would help our team and flexibility if he could play the outfield and first base. In the past, whenever he played the outfield, we had to sit him down for a couple of days. Maybe his new knees after he got them operated on, that might permit him. As of now, we have to treat him with kid gloves and make sure he goes deep into the season.”

DH for life.

10 Bold Predictions for Michael Simione

1) Zach Eflin is the Matthew Boyd of 2020.

Matt Boyd had a lot of buzz coming into the 2020 season. He had a stellar first half of 2019 and the high strikeout rate seemed like an intriguing option. Well, this year it seems like Zach Eflin is being touted by several analysts in the fantasy baseball Twitterverse. Last season overall Eflin produced a 3.97 ERA, 3.39 FIP, and an impressive 28.6 K%.

Of course, any time a pitcher raises their strikeout rate by 10% it will bring excitement. I’m here to temper those expectations. On the surface level let’s look at what he did in two months compared to his career average.

Zach Eflin’s 2020 vs. Career Numbers
Year ERA HR/9 K% BB% WHIP SwStr%
2020 3.97 1.22 28.6% 6.1% 1.27 10.2%
Career Avg. 4.63 1.51 18.9% 6.3% 1.33 8.8%

A ton of improvement compared to his career numbers. Eflin is only 26 so growth can occur but with improvements on surface stats, we have to look deeper to figure out why he improved.
