Recommendations for Roto 5×5 Leagues

Intro

The chart includes their performance for 2026, their opponent’s wOBA versus the pitcher’s handedness, and recently added opponent’s K% (also v. SP handedness), my general start/sit recommendation for 10-team, 12-team, and 15-team (or more) leagues – essentially a shallow, medium, deep league setup – and then a note about some, most, or all depending on the day. If a pitcher only has an “x” in 15-team, it doesn’t mean there’s no potential use in 10s and 12s, but it’s a much riskier stream for those spots.

These are general recommendations for standard 5×5 roto leagues, and your league situation will carry more weight whether you are protecting ratios or chasing counting numbers. I usually won’t have much to write about aces who are locked into our rotations. If you want to discuss someone further, please feel free to leave a comment. I usually do a few sweeps of the comments before game time in case there are time-sensitive questions.

O.k. to drop Ragans in a redraft if your IL is overflowing? Recent news sounds very not good.

Yes, I think so. I have him in a 12-teamer with no IL spots, just 7 reserves, and he’s on the chopping block this weekend for me

Wind at 10+:

STL – out to L at a stout 21, warm too (88-92*), bump to bats
NYY – in from R at 11
ATL – across from R to L at 11
Wrigley – out to center at 13, bump to bats
Sacramento – out to L center at 11, not as warm but still warm (83*), bump to bats

Rain:

Wrigley – 45% at 1st pitch declining to 13% after the game
Small chances around 20% in PHI, STL, ATL

I did say bump to bats, but Busch is a pitcher’s park that greatly suppresses HR so the weather probably just takes it from a pitcher’s park to being slightly a hitter’s park. It isn’t like Wrigley or Sutter Health where weather can completely flip the park factor.

Not entirely sure what’s driving the guardrail-to-guardrail performance but he’s dialed back in v. 3 solid-to-good teams: Nats, Rays, Pirates. I love him so I’m always hoping he succeeds, but I got frustrated enough to bench the 2-step last wk only to watch him dominate

Yeah – he almost seems Aaron Nola-esque where there’s no clue what will happen game to game, but at the end of the year the aggregate will look pretty darn good….but it makes the weekly thoughts so hard

Does Bradish deserve today’s ranking ? It seems he can’t have more than a couple of
decent starts without following with a stinker.

Totally fair question. Even if I stay committed to the 3-x reco, I do agree he’s too high w/in the 3-x tier. Maybe I should be more afraid of SEA and their 4th ranked wOBA, but I did like him pitching in T-Mobile.
