- Preseason SP Rankings (update coming Monday April 27th!)
Welcome to the Daily SP Chart.
The chart includes their performance for 2026, their opponent’s wOBA versus the pitcher’s handedness, my general start/sit recommendation for 10-team, 12-team, and 15-team (or more) leagues – essentially a shallow, medium, deep league setup – and then a note about some, most, or all depending on the day. If a pitcher only has an “x” in 15-team, it doesn’t mean there’s no potential use in 10s and 12s, but it’s a much riskier stream for those spots.
These are general recommendations for standard 5×5 roto leagues, and your league situation will carry more weight whether you are protecting ratios or chasing counting numbers. I usually won’t have much to write about aces who are locked into our rotations. If you want to discuss someone further, please feel free to leave a comment. I usually do a few sweeps of the comments before game time in case there are time-sensitive questions.
Do you ever see a notice for something but it has a date a few days or a week down the road so you don’t really internalize it. And then you’re working on a Sunday night and the internet goes down. I wait the requisite few minutes to see if it’s just a reset only to have that moment where everything slows down as I snap my head to the bottom right of my screen to check the date and it all comes rushing back to the notice I got a week or so earlier: April 26th, 8-10 hour Spectrum planned outage. Well, so much for getting the jump on the week! In fairness, it was overnight and they did give notice, so while it’s easy to hurl spitballs at the internet companies, this one was definitely on me. Anyway, that’s a long way of explaining why today’s SP chart is up late. But here it is and later today my SP rankings update will be live, too!
- Didn’t think I’d have Messick & Vásquez running over Castillo & Suarez at this time of the year. I’m not even fully out on Castillo getting back on track, it’s just that I really dig what Messick & Vásquez are doing and I’m happy to start them even in matchups against Top 10 offenses.
- The 2-x crew is all close for shallow leagues, too, so if you’re considering them for those formats, I can see it. If we had more than 4 IP out of Prielipp, I’d feel more confident running him everywhere but I am eager to see what he does while the others are veteran types we’ve been around the block with countless times.
- A great walk rate has helped May to a competent 14% K-BB, but he still just doesn’t miss bats (19%) and as such, I just don’t trust him.
- Look for the SP rankings update later today! I tried to get it done by the end of last week, but I just couldn’t stop tinkering.
