The blue bar represents the START of a new tier.
I generally don’t include IL’d guys. It’s especially precarious this late when guys could just be shutdown if they are on bad teams.
I view these as 2-3 week rankings given the volatility of pitching so I will include at least 1 and probably 2 more updates on the site before season’s end, but I am updating them regularly on our Patreon.
FYI: instead of updating the rankings in September, I started the Daily SP Chart.

Castillo, Manoah, and Fried all more than 10 spots ahead of Darvish?? I don’t understand. If heavily weighting recent performance then Logan Webb is much higher than 39.
Are you familiar w/how Darvish has been pitching since the crackdown? He’s not the same guy & fresh off the IL. I don’t really see 10 spots diff w/those guys as close to egregious. I like Webb a good bit, 39 feels perfectly fine.
Yeah we’re just ranking ice cream flavors but I’d be thrilled if someone offered me Darvish for any of Castillo, Manoah, or Fried. Darvish just has too long of a track record to think he’s permanently broken post crackdown.
Seeing such a clear delineation in HR rate pre- and post-crackdown plus just back from an injury is concerning enough for me to be a bit cautious w/him for the final 5 weeks. If he looks good tonight, I’ll probably move him 5-6 spots on the Patreon ranks, but I want to see 2-3 good ones w/some HR suppression before he’s back in the top 15
I can assure you the Jays would not trade Manoah for Darvish, this year or next year. And not because of age either.
Webb is a better pitcher than Wood. Wood never gets through the order a 3rd time
Alek Manoah is literally and figuratively the second coming of Jeebus Cripes.

I’ve been cautious w/him but at this point, he’s an auto start in all formats! This has been fantastic to watch

#22 … it really is amazing. If anyone told you in the preseason on FG that Wainwright would be considered better than Nola, Greinke and Darvish at the end of August he or she would have been tarred and feathered royally. Now, it just seems fine.
Throw in another 7 shutout innings tonight to move that ERA below 3.
Carrasco at #89 seems low- he’s just now getting fully stretched out and could be top 30 ROS with no innings limit issues. He would normally be working out the kinks in a rehab assignment but he had to get stretched out in the majors because the Mets need pitching bad. Still he’s been able to post a 3.90 SIERA and 18.4% K-BB% so far & FB velo is in line with the last couple of years.
I think this was a fair ranking prior to his start last night given all the concerns and the poor outings coming back off the IL. Paul can obviously respond but I would bet Paul has him moving up quite a bit after the start last night.
I get he’s injured, but dang, Freddy Peralta can’t make the Top 125?? You got Rodón at 9, and Gausman at 12, and they were both on the IL at time of press too. 🤷🏽♂️
Rodon was pitching as I published this and I cop to missing Gausman on the COVID IL. Peralta due back this weekend, will slot early-20s.
Assuming he returns from the IL in the next few days, where would Ian Anderson be on this list?
Not the Pirates SP is a big deal, but if I was in a deep league I’d go – Brubaker, Brault, Wilson. Crowe, #1-4. Kuhl is working in relief.
Rankings are so subjective but I feel like Sonny Gray is atleast 10 spots too low (saying he is underanked) I think he finishes the season really strong.
I like what Suarez and Toussaint have done lately but 53 and 67, respectively, seem too high for the small sample size from which we’re evaluating them.
Paul – Thoughts on Kluber, who’s about to rejoin the Yankees?
I’m not one to nitpick on rankings but Aaron Nola is VASTLY undervalued on this list. I believe he is a top 10ish guy rest of way.
The ranking looks pretty accurate up to this point in time given his uneven outings (only five 6+ inning outings since June!), but that September schedule looks very cushy for Philly. If he can throw at least 6 consistent innings the rest of the way you may be right.
Kim doesn’t make your list now that he’s moving back to the rotation?

That’s a miss, I don’t love COL pitchers but he definitely deserves a listing
