The 2021 version of Bullpen Report includes five different sections, as well as the closer chart, which can be found at the bottom of the page.

1. Notable Workloads: Primary closers or valuable members of a closer committee who have been deemed unavailable or likely unavailable for the current day due to recent workload.
2. Injury News 
3. Outlier Saves: Explanation for a non-closer earning a save during the previous day.
4. Committee Clarity: Notes on a closer committee that clarify a pitcher’s standing in the group.
5. Losing A Grip: Struggling closers who could be on the hot seat.

The “RosterResource” link will take you to the corresponding team’s RosterResource depth chart, which will give you a better picture of the full bullpen and results of the previous six days (pitch count, save, hold, win, loss, blown save.)

It’s the first full FAAB period for the NFBC Main event and it’s time to see who owners have soured on. Two trends I saw were managers dumping a ton of injured or demoted players. Also, bullpen arms were dropped for as situations clear up.

For this analysis, I use the NFBC Main Event because of the number of identical leagues. Additionally, the managers stay engaged longer on the whole since each spent $1700 per team. I tried to find that sweet spot between obvious and bizarre and will focus on players dropped in six to nine leagues.

Baseball is happening! Watching baseball again is quite possibly the best feeling in the world. Better than getting married and I can say that because my wife doesn’t read any of my stuff…. can’t say I blame her. I decided for the entire season to run a weekly article on pitchers who have been “heating up.” I will dive into what it could mean for the pitcher and what you should do with them. This should be a captivating concept because it will be pitchers of all levels, anywhere from aces to pitchers you would have never drafted. That’s what it’s all about, catching players as they improve and acting on it before anyone else can realize. Welcome to “Throwing Heat!”

The 2021 version of the Bullpen Report has arrived. I, along with a few others, will be your guide on this daily roller coaster ride of late-inning drama. There are five different sections, as well as the closer chart, which can be found at the bottom of the page.

1. Notable Workloads: Primary closers or valuable members of a closer committee who have been deemed unavailable or likely unavailable for the current day due to recent workload.
2. Injury News 
3. Outlier Saves: Explanation for a non-closer earning a save during the previous day.
4. Committee Clarity: Notes on a closer committee that clarify a pitcher’s standing in the group.
5. Losing A Grip: Struggling closers who could be on the hot seat.

A sixth section called “Relievers On The Rise”, which was included over the first few weeks of the 2020 season, will not be featured in the Bullpen Report. Instead, it will be a weekly column that focuses on pitchers who could take on a high-leverage bullpen role in the near future.

We are currently working on new and improved versions of the Bullpen Chart and the Closer Depth Chart, which was previously featured at RosterResource. These should be available sometime this week.

There are many different available player types available this week from prospects to closers to decent two-start pitchers to old boring vets. It’ll be interesting to see how the market focuses its resources to balance needs and wants.  Some teams need to add a couple of closers while others are dealing with hitters who are day-to-day. Others might have several Nats on their team and could be losing one or more to the IL. It’s going to be exhausting but diligent FAAB prep this weekend.

In the following article, I’m going to at least cover the players in demand using CBS’s (40% or less initial ownership) and Yahoo’s ADD/DROP rates. Both hosting sites have the option for daily and weekly waiver wire adds. CBS uses a weekly change while Yahoo looks at the last 24 hours. Yahoo is a great snapshot of right now while CBS ensures hot targets from early in the week aren’t missed. The players are ordered by my preference grouped by starters, relievers, and hitters.

A look around the league for the games of April 1st, 2021

DET 3 v. CLE 2

• Matthew Boyd went 5.7 scoreless, but did have 4 BB and just 2 Ks
• Shane Bieber salvaged his start with 12 Ks (6 IP/3 ER, 3 BB in 95 pit)
• Miguel Cabrera’s snowmer was pretty cool and puts him just 12 away from 500.
• Robbie Grossman was 0-1 w/3 BB and a SB – if they turn him loose, he has the OBP to steal 15+
• Gregory Soto got the first save attempt and converted, but only after a Roberto Perez 2-R HR
