Paul Sporer’s Baseball Chat – May 24th, 2023

Transcript is available below:

1:01

Paul Sporer: Hello everyone! Thanks for coming out!

1:01

Hank Scorpio: Hey Paul, thanks as always for the chat. Are we ready to move on from Taylor Ward in 12tm roto? Starting to lose PT, maybe it’ll be a ss platoon eventually, but it’s looking grim

1:02

Paul Sporer: Yes, unfortunately. Just no pop & now not playing. Loved him coming into the season but it’s just not working right now

1:03

Kate: 1 catcher OBP dynasty league.  Need to drop one of Grandal, Garver or Elias Diaz when Garver is activated.  Who’s your drop?

1:03

Paul Sporer: Probably Garv, wanna ride out the Diaz hot streak

1:03

Tiger Beat: I’ve been trying to ride the hot hand between Andy Ibanez and Nick Maton, but I’m losing. Do you like either in an OBP league?

Starting Pitcher Chart – May 24th

Steven Bisig-USA TODAY Sports

Daily SP Chart archive

The chart includes their season performance, their opponent’s wOBA versus the pitcher’s handedness over the last 30 days, my general start/sit recommendation for 10-team, 12-team, and 15-team (or more) leagues, and then a note about them. Obviously, there are league sizes beyond those three so it’s essentially a shallow, medium, deep. If a pitcher only has an “x” in 15-team, it doesn’t mean there’s no potential use in 10s and 12s, but it’s basically a risky stream for those spots.

These are general recommendations, and your league situation will carry more weight whether you are protecting ratios or chasing counting numbers. This is for standard 5×5 roto leagues. The thresholds for H2H starts are generally lower, especially in points leagues so I thought there would be more value focusing on roto.

I’m out of the house all day Tuesday from the early morning on so no commentary or stats on this one, just the recommendations. I’ll respond to comments when available throughout the day if you want to discuss someone further. Some of the no-X guys have some stream appeal depending how risky you are with streaming, but I wasn’t really able to highlight that without the commentary, but they are ranked in order if that helps. That said, if there’s a questionable one you want to discuss, leave a comment.

Paul Sporer’s Baseball Chat – May 17th, 2023

Transcript is live!

1:02

Paul Sporer: Hey y’all, thanks for coming out!

1:02

Mike: I have Tucker in a points league. He’s been underwhelming for a consensus top 15 guys. Should I be worried? Is there better days ahead or is this what he is?

1:06

Paul Sporer: Kinda surprised it’s been underwhelming w/a 20-20 pace & improved AVG. I have zero concerns about him

1:06

Jim Leyland Palmer: 10tm 5×5. I sold E-rod for Starling Marte. How does that sit with you?

1:06

Paul Sporer: Dig it! Totally fair

1:06

Mike: What’s your take on Alcantra ROS.
