Sunday Night Waiver Wire & FAAB Chat

7:30
Jeff Zimmerman: Welcome.

7:31
Jeff Zimmerman: Here are the bids from the two 15-team Tout Wars leagues.

7:32
Jeff Zimmerman:

7:32
Bob: Do you think Kerkering has a good chance to be the Phillies closer?

7:32
Jeff Zimmerman: No, I think they will continue to share the role

7:33
Love is a Battenfield: Drop Jose Alvarado or Abner Uribe for Jeff Hoffman or Michael Kopech? Hoffman getting more 9th inning chances and Uribe came in today in the 7th for the heart of the BAL order and struggled.

7:33
Jeff Zimmerman: I’d drop Uribe for Kopech

7:33
Daro: Jordan Walker was dropped and I have the #1 ww priority in my 10 teams redraft points league. Should I pull the trigger?

7:33
Jeff Zimmerman: Yes, add good players to your team.

7:33
Guest: Better speculative add: Ben Brown or Christian Scott?

7:34
Jeff Zimmerman: Both of these two should be great. I’ve been adding Brown when possible because I can get stats now

7:34
Tony 2 Chains: Would you drop V.Scott for Perkins or Jacob Young (or both)?

7:35
Jeff Zimmerman: I’d add Young over Scott2. Just know, Young is probably a bad baseball player

7:35
Dropper: Need to DROP one (AL OBP league): Noda, Harold Ramirez, Tyler Freeman. Thank you!

7:36
Jeff Zimmerman: Ramirez if he’s Util only. Otherwise Freeman

7:36
Dear Sir: Who gets the longer leash, Matz or McKenzie? One gets dropped when Braxton Garrett returns, right?

7:36
Jeff Zimmerman: You can drop McKenzie now

7:36
The Dude: You rolling with Michael Lorenzen tomorrow at the Tigers in his season debut?

7:37
Jeff Zimmerman: God no. There is a reason Lorenzen wasn’t signed until the season started. He sucks. Go with a middle reliever

7:37
JimmyP: Hi Jeff, in an 18 teamer. Are u holding onto Gavin Williams?, or possibly dropping him for either Y. Rodriguez/Butto/Criswell?  Thank you

7:37
Jeff Zimmerman: I’d drop for Butto

7:37
KCBBq: What kind of FAAB is needed to get Holliday and Hamilton in a 12 team AL only 5×5 H2H using W+QS? Have $84 of 100 FAAB. Last week Langford went for 44 and I was the underbidder at 43. Next highest was upper 30s. I was thinking upper 30s for Holliday and 10-13 for Hamilton. Concern for Holliday is his projections don’t show much pop.

7:39
Jeff Zimmerman: I’m surprised Langford went for so little. My guess it’ll take more than $44 since people saw it as a benchmark. In an AL only with little to no talent showing up, I’d go $50+

7:39
Peter: Hi Jeff, I’m looking for an upgrade over Tim Anderson at MI on the wire. Blaze Alexander, Bryce Turang, David Hamilton and Ahmed Rosario are available.  Like any or have any thoughts on someone else? Thanks!

7:40
Jeff Zimmerman: Turang for sure. Then Alexander. The other two seem like a lateral move and just go off the schedule

7:40
Jonathan India Pale Ale: For a team that needs help everywhere, would you rather add Jeff Hoffman or Junior Caminero?

7:40
Jeff Zimmerman: Junior

7:41
juice: cut oliver dunn for jorge polanco obp roto?

7:41
Jeff Zimmerman: Yes

7:41
Elmeg: Thoughts on starting Bassitt vs NYY in an AL only league or sit for middle reliever to protect ratios?

7:41
Jeff Zimmerman: I’d role out Bassitt. The is nothing specially about the Yankees lineup.

7:42
HappyFunBall: Things picked pretty clean over here. What do you think the odds are that Yates has the closer job in TEX?

7:42
Jeff Zimmerman: 70%

7:42
Bench Warmers: How much of a leash do you give Byron Buxton in a points league where Ks are -1?

7:42
Jeff Zimmerman: Depends on the WW options.

7:43
Bob: Cole is not progressing very fast. Do you think he might come back some time in June?

7:43
Jeff Zimmerman: I have no idea about his injury time frame. I have to go with what the teams says

7:43
Peter: Vinnie P going to be okay?

7:44
Jeff Zimmerman: Sometime but hitters who come off shoulder surgery struggle.

7:44
Peter: Who’s a hitter who likely went undrafted and is on the waiver wire that is likely to breakout soon?

7:44
Jeff Zimmerman: You tell me and I’d pick him.

7:44
Lance: Would you cut ginkel to add yates

7:45
Jeff Zimmerman: Yes because you might have Yates for the whole year.

7:45
Billy Bigshot: Expectations for Busch and Cowser ROS?

7:46
Jeff Zimmerman: Tempered, I’m not as excited as the crowd. It feels like people are getting antsy to make some large FAAB bids.

7:46
smuckles: Is Triston McKenzie cooked?

7:46
Jeff Zimmerman: Likely

7:47
Chris: Which two would you keep of Andrew Abbott, Mackenzie Gore, Mason Miller, Ben Brown and Peter Fairbanks?  SP and RP depth/needs are equal.

7:47
Jeff Zimmerman: Miller and Brown

7:47
Mission from Rob: Thoughts on Butto’s performance today?

7:47
Jeff Zimmerman: One to check two items on it.

7:48
Jeff Zimmerman: Butto velo is fine. It was down in AAA

7:49
Jeff Zimmerman: I can’t find Butto’s Ball%. I was wanting to see if he continued to throw strikes.

7:50
Jeff Zimmerman: I’m interested where he’s available.

7:50
ryan: whitlock or weathers for the upcoming week?

7:50
Jeff Zimmerman: Whitlock. Weathers seems toast

7:50
Mick: Thanks, Jeff,12 Team league with little on the wire…is Hunter Brown worth holding?

7:51
Jeff Zimmerman: No, depending on the options.

7:51
Truck Jones: Butto 41% balls today

7:51
Jeff Zimmerman: Normally, that points to a 4.7 BB/9. Just know walks could be coming

7:52
Guest: Roster Resource has Brown out of the Cubs’ rotation with Taillon’s return but you think Brown sticks?

7:52
Jeff Zimmerman: I want him on my team, even if it’s as a “stash”

7:52
Toolsy: Hoffman or Fairbamks in s+holds format?

7:52
Jeff Zimmerman: Both

7:53
Jeff Zimmerman: Hoffman I guess

7:53
Roger M: Does Yariel Rodriguez interest you at all? Worth a sizable bid in a 15 tm?

7:54
Jeff Zimmerman: I’m ignoring/not interested.

7:54
TONY: Christian Scott or Ben Brown for DL Hall?

7:54
Jeff Zimmerman: Yes on both

7:54
Guest: would data back up the idea that age 21-23 seasons (or so) are more likely to be average or worse than the market treats them?

7:55
Jeff Zimmerman: I think we only remember the greats who come up and succeed at that age and forget the missed.

7:55
Guest: Nobody in fantasy expert circle honing in on Yariel Rodriguez?  Why?  Looked great  in recent start.

7:57
Jeff Zimmerman: Before I pay a ton of FAAB on him, I want to see him go longer 3.2 IP (68 Pitches).

7:57
Jeff Zimmerman: 2.1  and 4.0 IP in the minors.

7:58
Yoyomama: Any love for Jesse Winker?

7:59
Jeff Zimmerman: Winker is streamable in most formats with other similar guys.

7:59
Ragans to Riches: Drop Mitch Garver for Luis Campesano? 12 team 5×5 OBP league. Getting nothing from my C slot but can be patient if Garver’s worth holding a bit.

7:59
Jeff Zimmerman: I’d stick with Garver

7:59
Sac-town A’s: JP Sears wasn’t on your (invaluable!) WW list. Is he ahead or behind his teammate Paul Blackburn?

8:00
Jeff Zimmerman: Sears in ahead. Roster% was too high for rankings

8:00
Levels of Mistakes: My team is light on homers and RBIs in a 12 team NFBC league, and I could use a more defined OF quintet so I can use Mookie in the middle infield. How deep should I be going on Cowser? There’s just a part of me that feels like he’s early season fool’s gold but I also know heavy is the only play to get him.

8:01
Jeff Zimmerman: I’m not going heavy and in my 12’s, there are a ton of Steamable outfielders. Go after the COL guys. they are at home in 3 of the next 4 series and should run wild this week.

8:01
Pitching: Hey Jeff, please help me choose 1 of these SP to start this week: Keaton Winn @MIA, Jon Gray @DET & @ATL, Ben Brown @ARI, Eovaldi @ATL. H2H points league that scores 10 pts for a W, no penalty for an L. Thanks.

8:01
Jeff Zimmerman: Winn here

8:02
Catching Trouble: Salvy or Cal Raleigh, OBP league. Worried about the former’s groin and the latter K-rate.

8:02
Jeff Zimmerman: It’s nice to have those options. I’m eyeing Pinto as a Perez replacement in one league

8:02
Peter: Is the Markel Garcia hype train derailed?

8:03
Jeff Zimmerman: The hype is over but he’s still a decent option

8:03
HappyFunBall: I’m sure he’s going to stop hitting HRs eventually, but Michael Busch…how big of a league are we comfortable starting him at 1B in?

8:03
Jeff Zimmerman: Again, who are the other options.

8:03
Billy Bigshot: Bradford worth a hold with the back injury? 12 team mixed.

8:04
Jeff Zimmerman: No, my 12’s had equivalent options on the wire. Now in 15s, you might need to hold.

8:04
Sammy: 13 team mixed redraft…what % of FAAB for Cowser?  Would be replacing Meadows

8:05
Jeff Zimmerman: The hype is insane. I think it’ll take 20% bids.

8:05
Guest: What percent of FAAB would you spend on Skenes if he were called up?

8:05
Jeff Zimmerman: 20% to 40%

8:06
JV: winn at Miami OR Varland 2 step at Balt, vs Det

8:06
Jeff Zimmerman: I’m not sure Varland belongs in the majors as a starter. I’m dropping him where I have him and moving on.

8:07
Jeff Zimmerman: Winn is my chose here

8:07
Shred: Deep league SP struggles.  Blackburn, Perez, Yariel is as good as it gets in FA.  Better to just sit on Tiedemann?

8:07
Jeff Zimmerman: I’d drop any of them for Tiedermann

8:07
Boston: Hi Jeff!  Am I nuts to read Jordan Westburg’s upticks in barrels, FB%, and xslg to suggest a possible power spike?

8:08
Jeff Zimmerman: It’s a week but everyone walking around aroused so if you want him, it’s the week to pay up

8:09
Alec Lemas: When I’m King I’ll mandate fresh popcorn in all movie theaters, an end to daylight savings time, radio stations can only play music (no talk shows peddling faux outrage and endless bickering) and FAAB bidding will be moved worldwide to Mondays. 🙂

8:09
Jeff Zimmerman: Thurdays work better because of the MLB sechedule

8:10
Porcho Villa: Is Alvarado a must hold in 12 team 5×5 SV only? He’s my fourth closer (E Diaz, Phillips, Ginkel) and roster is tight /  need the spot for SP depth

8:10
Jeff Zimmerman: I’d get a starter if decent. In some spots, I’m moving to an extra hitter

8:10
Dave in slc: I have too many marlins pitchers! Who is my weak link? Puk, weather’s, Meyer? I assume puk. Where would he rank On your ww article today?

8:11
Jeff Zimmerman: Puk and Weathers can be dropped for middle relievers.

8:12
HOf: When do teams start the changes in roster, looking at Houston and Luperfido up for Abreu

8:13
Jeff Zimmerman: Usually two-weeks to a month. I’ve heard that some players are told this time.

8:13
Jeff Zimmerman: I added Luperfido in the ToutWars league and could see him come up at center or first.

8:13
Guest: Jeff, all of us out here grinding FAAB tonight appreciate your hard work. Thanks!

8:13
Jeff Zimmerman: You’re welcome

8:14
Peter G: Had high hopes for a Canning break out, doesn’t look like it.  Drop him for Butto?

8:14
Jeff Zimmerman: Sure but you might dropping Butto next week

8:14
The Sweetest Swing: Too early to move on from Tanner Scott? The walks are back in a big way.

8:15
Jeff Zimmerman: I’d try to maybe upgrade or get another closer.

8:15
Smith: I have one NA spot that I’m currently using for JD Martinez. Would you drop for Hjerstad?

8:15
Jeff Zimmerman: No, I’m not sure where Hjerstad will play

8:16
Paul: chris paddock is on the WW in my 15 team high stakes league. would you bid on him? if so, how much would you put down for him?

8:16
Jeff Zimmerman: yes and between 1% and 3%

8:16
Porcho Villa: Prefer Jose Siri or Brice Turang as a near term SB source?

8:16
Jeff Zimmerman: Just SB, Turang

8:16
Vic: Thanks for doing  these

8:17
nfbc12s: You benching Gausman until he proves himself?

8:17
Jeff Zimmerman: Maybe, some leagues I don’t have the depth

8:17
Porcho Villa: Talked myself into Morel as a long term 3B solution with his early CT% improvement but with his 4th 0 for 4 in a row he’s streaky as ever. Would you go for Westburg, Hayes, or Chapman over him?

8:17
Jeff Zimmerman: I like Morel over those other options.

8:18
In Play Runs: Drop Rafaela for B.Doyle ? Mix roto

8:18
Jeff Zimmerman: Yes, but it might be for just the next 2 weeks

8:18
Jon: Pick up Bryan Woo for free and hold?

8:18
Jeff Zimmerman: Sure but depends on your drop.

8:18
Rickster: SSS obviously, but Joey Bart — potential second catcher in a 2 catcher 15 team league?

8:19
Jeff Zimmerman: Not sure just yet.

8:19
Guest: In Patriots Day week, where rosters lock early are you keeping Salvy in the lineup and taking your chance with him?

8:19
Jeff Zimmerman: So far, yes. The main reason is that the options haven’t been great.

8:20
Jeff Zimmerman: I have a few more leagues to do after this and I’ll see if the options are better there (I doubt it)

8:20
JE: Hunter Brown may have had worst start in MLB history vs, HOU the other day. But how can such a highly-touted arm be deemed so droppable based on one bad 1/2 hour?

8:21
Jeff Zimmerman: He wasn’t exactly good before that.

8:21
DG: Expectations for David Hamilton ROS? O/U 100 games

8:21
Jeff Zimmerman: Under

8:22
Goose Goosage: Hey Jeff, thanks for doing these chats. Speculating on saves in 12-team 5×5 roto, which of the following relievers would you be in on: Brock Stewart, Jason Adam, Jeff Hoffman, or Kirby Yates?

8:22
Jeff Zimmerman: Hoffman and Yates

8:22
Dave in slc: What bid % would you put on brown in nl only?

8:22
Jeff Zimmerman: 5%

8:23
Ron: Hi Jeff, In a 12 team roto, would you dump Drury for Olivares and would pick up recently dumped Pfaadt over a Pepiot/R. Lopez type?

8:23
Jeff Zimmerman: Keep Drury and add Pfaady for Lopez

8:23
Eric: Hey, Jeff–want to replace Gallegos with F. Cruz, Romero, or Kerkering. Who’s your pick in a 15 team roto? (Thanks)

8:24
Jeff Zimmerman: I don’t like any of these options. I’d just add another starter

8:24
matt g: drop D Varsho for E Olivares?

8:24
Jeff Zimmerman: no

8:24
JT: How would you rank Shelby Miller, David Robertson, and Jeff Hoffman for general usefulness and the occasional save in a deep standard 5×5 roto league?

8:24
Jeff Zimmerman: Hoffman, Miller, Robertson

8:24
Rachel: Butto or Turnbull?

8:24
Jeff Zimmerman: Turnbull

8:25
Last Place Team: James Wood a viable pick up in NFBC now? Seems like he’s going to force his way up soon

8:25
Jeff Zimmerman: If available, add him.

8:25
Jeff Zimmerman: OK, I’m going to stop a few minutes early to look over my NFBC leagues before FAAB runs.

8:25
Jeff Zimmerman: Good luck.
