Sunday Night Waiver Wire & FAAB Chat

7:30
Jeff Zimmerman: Welcome.

7:31
Jeff Zimmerman: Here are the winning bids from the two 15-team Tout Wars leagues.

7:31
Jeff Zimmerman:

7:31
Walt: Who are some prospects to keep an eye on that might be called up in the next couple weeks?

7:31
Austin: Hey Jeff – thanks as always for these. Desperate for steals. Any potential upcoming call-ups that could rack em up?

7:32
Jeff Zimmerman: Kelenic

7:33
Jeff Zimmerman: I don’t see anyone in particular. What we may see is what happened with the Reds needing to promote Phillips with several guys on the IL.

7:33
Jeff Zimmerman: Oh, one place to attack is the Dodgers rotation with Pepiot a major target

7:33
Guest: Can you see Oviedo becoming an all star level pitcher?

7:33
BTinVT: Can you see Oviedo becoming a 1 or 2?

7:34
Jeff Zimmerman: He needs to find some consistency. Maybe put together three good starts

7:34
Mike: Are you trusting Jordan Walker, DJLM, Zack Gelof, Sal Frelick, or Tork in H2H playoffs and, if any of them, what order do you rank the level of trust?

7:35
Jeff Zimmerman: Sure on all of them depending on the other options. Rank of Tork, Gelof, DJLM, Frelick, and Walker

7:36
Mike: Is Kerry Carpenter a source of speed after three steals in two weeks?

7:37
Jeff Zimmerman: 71st percentile Sprint Speed should mean he gets about 10 SB a season

7:37
Bruce & E Street: For this week : Start Harrison at  home vs Rockies or start Zack Thompson at Reds ? I need to drop one to activate Josh Naylor

7:37
Bruce & E Street: Hello Jeff, I streamed Zack Thompson today on your endorsement.

7:39
Jeff Zimmerman: Thompson is fine today but I have him as a drop in a couple leagues because I’m not going to start him in his next two starts @CIN, vs PHI.

7:39
Jeff Zimmerman: In 15-teamers, there are no better options, but would go with Harrison

7:40
Tough Spot: Jeff, I’m in a tough spot: Weekly H2H lineup locks tomorrow. Do I start H. Greene, who’s eligible to come off the COVID list Friday vs. STL, or start a much worse pitcher who’s guaranteed to take the ball?

7:40
Jeff Zimmerman: I’d go with the sure thing. Also, Greene hasn’t been great so the dropoff might not be that much

7:42
Ess Peas: Taj Bradley over everyone in your article? Specifically bidding on him vs. Canning & Wicks/Thompson

7:42
Jeff Zimmerman: These guys are all so close and we are working on small samples. I’d focus on the opponent right now.

7:42
Bob: Is Hunter Renfroe worthless in a 14 team league?

7:43
Jeff Zimmerman: Probably. In my 15-teamers, there are several guys I’m bidding on I’d want over Renfroe

7:43
Jeff = Awesome: Jeff, have you heard anything regarding J. Soler? Trying to figure out if i can lock him into my lineup for the week or find a replacement

7:43
Jeff Zimmerman: No and let me know if you do.

7:44
Canzone: Hi, Jeff! Not sure whether D. Canzone qualified for your WW Report. Any thoughts on him? He faces seven RHPs this week.

7:45
Jeff Zimmerman: He should be added by some team in 12-team, 5 OF leagues

7:45
Jeff Zimmerman: I know his Razzball projection was encouraging.

7:45
Guest: Jeff, I appreciate you doing these all season.

7:45
Jeff Zimmerman: Thanks.

7:46
Tommy: Standard 5 x 5 who you have next week, casas, pham, or Mauricio?

7:46
Jeff Zimmerman: Casas

7:46
Chas McCormick: Chas has been on the bench 3 times in the last 5 games. Start him or McNeil in a UT spot in a H2H points league playoff week? McNeil has just 5 games on the sked next week including vs 2 lefty starters but he still has the edge, right?

7:46
Jeff Zimmerman: I’d go with Chas or possibly find a replacement

7:46
Nate: ROS – Jasson Dominguez or Mauricio?

7:47
Jeff Zimmerman: For me it’s Mauricio … I found in my bidding the position mattered the most

7:47
Guest: Do you like Jorge Polanco or Zach Gelof better for next week and rest of season in roto?

7:48
Jeff Zimmerman: Gelof for the combo. I don’t want to bet on Polanco’s injury histroy

7:48
Hi: C Sale has better ERA estimators than actual stats, but appears to have a tough road ahead. He’s also really been laboring to get through innings since coming off the IL. Counting every 5th game, his remaining starts would be: BAL, NYY, @TEX, TB, @BAL. Do you see more value in holding him or streaming that slot in a 12T mixed w/30 man rosters? Thanks.

7:49
Jeff Zimmerman: It all comes down to the replacement. I know the best available option in some of my leagues was Zach Davies. Sale >>>>>>>Davies

7:49
Elmeg: “long may you run, long may you run” – will Willi Castro get playing time to be relevant in speed category ROS?

7:49
Jeff Zimmerman: I don’t think so, especially with Buxton about to return.

7:50
Seanold: Thanks for the last minute advice Jeff. How would you rank these Cs? O’Hoppe, Bailey, Endy, Wong. 15 team 2C roto, currently have O’Hoppe

7:51
Jeff Zimmerman: The key with C’s is what you need. I know I’ve moved to Wong in several leagues because he can steal a base. See what you need and then check their projections.

7:51
NFBC OC: Bader worth rostering in 12s? Seems like he might be platooned now

7:52
Jeff Zimmerman: I don’t think so anymore. The Reds OF needs another week to sort itself out

7:52
Selvaggio: Thank you in advance for these, Jeff!  I’m in 4th place and have a legit chance for 2nd place by this time next week.  I have a UTIL spot available: Sal Frelick, Carlos Santana or Nolan Schanuel.

7:53
Jeff Zimmerman: It’s another example of what are your needs to move up. I know I’ve added or adding Schanuel where I need AVG. Frelick for speed. Santana for power

7:53
gadawg57: Does Reynaldo Lopez hold much value for holds in 12-team points league ROS?

7:54
Jeff Zimmerman: It’s so tough to know after 3 games with his new team. I’d find another option for this week.

7:54
TriplesAlley: Where would Littell be relative to Harrison, Sanchez from the WW article?

7:54
Jeff Zimmerman: He’d be right there with them

7:55
Let’s play Two: Hey Jeff- For this week in a weekly points format:                             Start Pfaadt two step (vs COL, @ Cubs) while also starting Kikuchi (KC) in a RP slot OR steer clear of Pfaadt and use Fairbanks as an RP instead in a 7 game week at home (BOS/SEA)?                                                                    Scoring format:  W (10) L (-5) SV (8) K (2) IP (2)

7:55
Jeff Zimmerman: I’m rolling with Pfaadt

7:55
Jasson D: Which is the real me?  The one who just hit another HR and is getting $400 bids, or the one projected to wOBA under .300 by every system?

7:56
Jeff Zimmerman: Probably somewhere in-between, but those max bids will be coming

7:56
Whatever: What reasons(s) for Goodman not being higher on your WW list? Is it more than just the lack of speed?

7:57
Jeff Zimmerman: Correct, not a balanced profile compared to the other guys. Now some teams just need HR and he’s a great options. Stewart also.

7:57
Eric: Quintana worth the pick up for the 2start week

7:59
Jeff Zimmerman: I’m not sure his Sunday start will happen with only 5 games this week. It seems like a 2-step the next week against ARI and CIN

7:59
Oddball Herrera: Which of these streaky catchers would you ride next week?  Gary Sanchez (3 phil 3 at Hou) Keibert Ruiz (2 vs NYM 3 vs LAD) or MJ Melendez (3 vs CWS 3 at TOR)?  Thanks Jeff.

7:59
Jeff Zimmerman: Melendez

7:59
Mick: Thanks in advance, Jeff, what low-rostered starting pitchers should I be watching?

8:00
Jeff Zimmerman: There are so few. Two I didn’t write about but could be useful are SD’s Avila and STL’s Rom. Again keep an eye on the Dodgers and Braves who each have an open slot

8:01
Guest: Did Kutter Crawford’s recent blowup shake your faith in him at all?

8:01
Jeff Zimmerman: No

8:01
El Guapo: Why do some Tout owners have SO MUCH FAAB $ left with a month to go?

8:02
Jeff Zimmerman: We can get some money back for IL guys done for the season based on their auction costs. Trout and Ohtani (pitcher) were both recent pay days

8:02
ryan: time to drop mccormick and y. diaz since pt will be inconsistent moving forward?

8:03
Jeff Zimmerman: Yes, depending on the options.

8:02
Guest: Any idea who will come up for the Braves for the start on Tuesday?  Dodd?  Soroka?  Are either  of them worth rolling the dice on?

8:03
Jeff Zimmerman: No idea, I’ve been looking myself

8:03
royal pains: is Carlos hernandez droppable even if I’m chasing saves?

8:03
Jeff Zimmerman: Probably if there any other options

8:03
Dave in slc: Taj bradley or reese Olson ros? Are either better than a middle reliever for al only?

8:04
Jeff Zimmerman: I like both and would go Bradley if you need Wins

8:04
Maris9: Why Oakland not playing Ruiz. You’d think a talent like this could put some fannies in the stadium. Dumb dumb.

8:05
Jeff Zimmerman: He’s not a major league hitter, never really has been. Joey Gathright 2.0

8:05
Toolsy: Do you think cle can fix or make a tweak with giolito to be more effective this year? Park is better.  Are you starting him tomorrow in 12 team roto?

8:05
Jeff Zimmerman: Start … sure. I have no idea on a fix

8:06
Toolsy: Any hope for story ros? Would you cut him in 12 team leagues?

8:06
Jeff Zimmerman: I don’t think he’s healthy and it’s tough to know when he will be OK

8:06
Maris9: Julien a no-brainer 2024 keeper for the Twins?

8:06
Jeff Zimmerman: Probably

8:06
NFBC OC: would you rather add kelenic or mauricio

8:07
Jeff Zimmerman: Oh … Mauricio because I think there is a chance Kelenic gets platooned.

8:07
Jon: Any love for Gabriel Arias? Big Ks but PT and stats are there

8:07
Jeff Zimmerman: Some where I only need power or a bench bat

8:08
Chris: I am getting short on Faab in an 11-team 6×6 roto (avg+obp). Do I need Rengifo on my bench? (Right now it’s Tommy Pham & Brandon Lowe)

8:08
Jeff Zimmerman: No, hold tight

8:08
Harry: Throwing a dart on a possible pitcher stash for 2024, NL only dynasty: Which Cubs SP, Taillon or Wicks?

8:08
Jeff Zimmerman: Wicks

8:09
Guest: Is Alek Thomas a good streamer next week? Seems to be hitting higher in the lineup

8:09
Jeff Zimmerman: Five righties, close depending on options.

8:09
ryan: any offenses you are targeting with regards to streaming SPs for Ks?

8:10
Jeff Zimmerman: I focus on the pitcher and his team and then use the opposing team as a tie breaker.

8:10
Vic: Are the stars aligning for Edward Olivares to actually play everyday?

8:10
Jeff Zimmerman: They are just messing with us.

8:11
TriplesAlley: Will Smith or Helsley down the stretch for saves?

8:11
Jeff Zimmerman: Probably Helsley

8:11
First World Issues: Adolis walked it off today but it’s been a rough few weeks. Ride him into the h2h playoffs for 6 at home vs HOU/OAK or go with Arozarena in a 7 gamer at home against BOS/SEA?  Have to start one or the other in a weekly h2h points matchup.

8:13
Jeff Zimmerman: What are in, a two-team league where the option is either Garcia or Arozarena. The pair would be the best two outfielders on most of my teams. Of the pair, I like Arozarena.

8:13
gadawg57: I mean Eovaldi going to start without a rehab?

8:13
Jeff Zimmerman: I just read something about this on MLBTR …

8:15
8:16
Jeff Zimmerman: Calhoun likely to lose time with Naylor back. I like Meadows then Canzone

8:16
Thistleweezy: Would you churn Travis d’Arnaud for a replacement level C (e.g. Jeffers, Endy, Fermin, Campusano) in 15-team NFBC with limited funds or just let him roll?

8:17
Jeff Zimmerman: I’d churn and go with Jeffers

8:17
Guest: Rotoworld sy Eovaldi Tuesday

8:18
Jeff Zimmerman: Rotowire his him pencilled in (not confirmed)

8:18
Whatever: In a 12-teamer, you like Canning or Silseth better this year and next? Hard to know?

8:18
Jeff Zimmerman: I don’t have a preference right now

8:19
Bruce & E Street: Brett Rooker , Max Kapler  or Alex Kirilloff. Pick two for a daily mixed roto.   Thanks again

8:19
Jeff Zimmerman: Rooker and Kepler. I hope there isn’t another Kapler

8:19
McClain SS replacement: Lewis / Mauricio / Crawford in that order of bidding?

8:20
Jeff Zimmerman: That seems right

8:20
Pitching in the post season: H2h points. Lynn or Lugo? Lugo is solid, Lynn has a tentative two step first week of the playoffs, Lugo has his next match against Houston

8:20
Jeff Zimmerman: I’d go Lynn, but I play to Win

8:21
Jeff Zimmerman: Well, that’s it for this week. Talk to everyone in seven days.

My advice, FWIW (not a damn thing): Jeff Zimmerman is a legit dude; take the best advice you can (here and
Grey at Razz), then own your own shizz. As the experts always point out, only you know your wants and needs.
