7:30
Jeff Zimmerman: Welcome

7:31
Jeff Zimmerman: Here are the winning bids in the two 15-team Tout Wars redraft leagues.

7:31
Jeff Zimmerman:

7:31
AU86: Redraft OBP – pls rank Lawlar, Tawa, Marsee, Edman

7:32
Jeff Zimmerman: Tawa, Edman, Lawlar, Marsee

7:33
NicklePickers: AL Only obp bench bat time! Can you rank Jesus Sanchez, McAdoo, Sogard, Leody Taveras? (And is any worth one of my 3 bench slots in a daily league?)

7:33
Jeff Zimmerman: McAdoo, Taveras, Sogard (could lose job to Story), Sanchez

7:33
NicklePickers: Pasquatch or Royce Lewis (AL OBP league)?

7:33
Jeff Zimmerman: Royce

7:34
NicklePickers: Need that sweet relief. But instead can you pick a couple from this garbage pile? Sabrowski, Booser, Bazardo, Blubaugh, Hoppe, Legumina, Ahlstrom, Sommers, Hagen Smith…

7:34
Jeff Zimmerman: If you’re going to play in a 45-team league, you deserve to make this decision on your own.

7:34
NicklePickers: Are you starting Jacob Lopez at home vs. BAL this week? He’s actually been fine in Sacramento during this recent run…

7:35
Jeff Zimmerman: Possibly depending on my other choices. I’m not against it

7:35
Greg Pope: Who would you rather have as a C2 in a 15 team NFBC, Rafael Flores Jr (who I added last week) or Cal Raleigh (who was dropped last week)? Hard to believe this is a real question but here I am….

7:35
Jeff Zimmerman: I understand … I might go with Flores

7:36
dclahane: NL only. Better MR, Dion or Drohan. Need help in ratios. W

7:36
Jeff Zimmerman: Dion

7:36
bird33: 12 team Roto – K’s and QS’s very close and have an antiquated 1500 inning limit to contend with (hard to hit) so will be streaming SP’s down the stretch with my limited remaining moves.  Looking out a week or two, Taj Bradley, Sean Manaea, Jared Jones, Aaron Nola and Andrew Painter (all abailable) all have favorable matchups upcoming – how would you rank in order of preference?  Thank you.

7:37
Jeff Zimmerman: Jones, Manaea, Nola, Painter, Bradley

7:37
epc2188: River Ryan coming up soon?

7:37
Jeff Zimmerman: Who knows?

7:38
NicklePickers: Heliot Ramos has a 41 wRC+ in the second half and doesn’t look better in pinstripes. Cut for Nick Sogard in AL Only OBP?

7:38
Jeff Zimmerman: I’m not against cutting Ramos, but Sogard could be out of job later this week with Story coming back.

7:38
Greg Pope: Heard about some issues with Kade Anderson’s 4 seemer after his debut, you have any concerns or is he still a pay whatever it takes add in a 15 team NFBC?

7:41
Jeff Zimmerman: He didn’t look so good that it’s worth emptying the bank, leave $$$ to make moves. I’m not sure what people expected from a sub-94 mph fastball. The league average right now is 94.3.

7:41
bird33: Is Griffin Jax worth stashing in a QS league?  Seems like he’ll be a 5 inning guy at best rest of the way…

7:42
Jeff Zimmerman: It comes down to other options. In some leagues sure, in others, I’m not interested.

7:42
KCbbq: Is Bret Calhoun or Rave worth $1 to replace Mesa (IL-hammy) in 12 team AL only 5×5 H2H? Unsure when Mesa is coming back so taking zeros in counting stats at expense of bad OPS may be counter productive. $10 of $100 FAAB left.

7:42
Jeff Zimmerman: Yes on both

7:42
jonhenryholt: Are you expecting anything out of injured hopefuls- Corbin Burnes, Eovaldi, Herz for ROS QS league. Is QS an awful catagory or am I sensitive this year?

7:43
Jeff Zimmerman: Bad stat and Eovaldi could throw this week.

7:43
Richard: Eovaldi is available in my Main Event.  It looks like he could be back in about 10 days.  What’s your advice?

7:44
Jeff Zimmerman: It might be this week. I’d try to add him

7:44
Richard: For this week, do you like House or Arenado?  Same answer for ROS?

7:45
Jeff Zimmerman: I’d go with House in both instances but I’d not be against streaming them if there is a favorable matchup.

7:45
NicklePickers: Christian Moore was very hot at AAA before his latest recall. Sign of growth or that he’s just good at AAA?

7:45
Jeff Zimmerman: Let me look …

7:45
Jeff Zimmerman: 25th best hitter in AAA

7:47
Jeff Zimmerman: Looking at some AAA to MLB comps, the list is not impressive. Not one player stands out.

7:48
Jeff Zimmerman:

7:48
steveos777: I already started my playoffs. 12 team 6X6 category league. Any hitters you like that should be available that can help now?

7:49
Jeff Zimmerman: If only there were an article available that listed my thoughts on available hitters … if only.

7:49
Hazmat Corntail: Do you foresee anyone getting anything out of River

7:50
Jeff Zimmerman: No

7:50
MiamiWeiss21: Julio looking real frustrated, I need more than a .314 OPS in a 14 day span. Can I bench or is that foolish. Haven’t looked at schedule.

7:50
Jeff Zimmerman: Probably foolish, but it comes down to your options.

7:50
gp2600: What are you doing with Hunter Brown in 12 team redraft?Jacob Lopez and Painter are available.

7:52
Jeff Zimmerman: I have them valued as a 4.34 ERA vs 4.38 vs 4.41. They are the same. Just go with the easiest schedule

7:52
Jor Algenson: I need to improve my K% and my BB%.  Would picking up and rostering Shane Drohan for next week hurt my chances?

7:52
Jeff Zimmerman: Depends on who you replace

7:53
procters1: Please ignore this if I already sent it. I was unsure if it went through. I need a starter. Which of Urquidy, Grayson Rodriguez or George Klassen would you pick?

7:53
Jeff Zimmerman: Urquidy

7:53
ts34: whats your interest level in holding luke weaver ROS in a keeper league hoping he has a closer job next year?

7:53
Jeff Zimmerman: Some, depends on how hard it is to find closers

7:53
slicedfriedgold: At what point in the FA SP would you put the middle reliever split? I’m thinking of leaning into them as starters in my league are dire and ratios are where I have the most room to improve, but I’m having a hard time deciding where the right split spot is.

7:54
Jeff Zimmerman: Probably near Bello (wink wink) but let me look

7:55
Jeff Zimmerman: It’s rough, might be after Liberatore. Zebby has two starts so he might be higher

7:55
bakerae: I have a crazy friend who thinks Craig Kimbrel could garner more saves with the Royals.  Is he crazy?

7:55
Jeff Zimmerman: Yes

7:56
NicklePickers: Looks like Urquidy might start for real tomorrow, not following. Does that drop him off the board?

7:56
Jeff Zimmerman: no

7:56
fyek276: Jared Jones or Roupp ROS for Roto

7:57
Jeff Zimmerman: Jones and it’s not close

7:57
Whaleman: Martinez, Ariz,  Back to closing?   How much FAAB  AL only $100 limit

7:58
Jeff Zimmerman: I have no idea who is closing in ARI, but it doesn’t matter in an AL-only league

7:59
MiamiWeiss21: If I need Ks and leading in saves, what week do I park my closers for starters to close the gap in roto? I have a 9 save lead that has been consistently 9/8 apart for a month now.

8:01
Jeff Zimmerman: I’d look to see what the guys behind you do. They might park it too. You can go down to one closer (keep the others) and ride it out with a gap of five. Just keep a close eye on their strategy.

8:01
Mark Reiss: With the Orioles selling at the deadline do Mayo or Beavers have any value for the ROS with more playing time?  Thanks.

8:03
Jeff Zimmerman: No, the team is going to keep trying since they are 2 games out of the wild card. Also, playing time will get jumbled up with Blaze returning

8:03
jag3: Happy sunday Jeff. Thanks for all the valuable advise this year. ROS: Bell, Pasquantino, sogard, Sanjoa?

8:04
Jeff Zimmerman: Close: Bell, Pas, Sanoja, Sogard

8:04
NicklePickers: Thanks for all the answers! What about Heliot v McAdoo in AL Only OBP?

8:04
Jeff Zimmerman: You can go either way, maybe McAdoo at the moment

8:04
jag3: H2H: please rank K. Ruiz, Gasper, Realmuto, A.Ramirez

8:06
Jeff Zimmerman: Right now I have them Gasper … Ruiz, Realmuto, Ramirez

8:06
Jeff Zimmerman: You might push up Ramirez if steals count

8:06
bird33: Is Robert Suarez the closer for Atlanta next year w iglesias’s contract expiring?  I ask bc he can be kept for a very late round pick in my keeper league.. thx

8:06
Jeff Zimmerman: I have no idea

8:06
cmang: Drop T Hernandez for K Tucker? Someone rage dropped. What % of FAAB?

8:07
Jeff Zimmerman: That’s crazy that Teo is the drop. I’m in some leagues where I have Dane Myers and I’m happy about it.

8:08
Jeff Zimmerman: Yes, drop Teo for Tucker and bid enough to make future moves

8:08
johnsond76: Activating vlad, would you cut mcadoo or hao yu lee?

8:08
Jeff Zimmerman: Lee

8:08
rsands9: Ideally, how much FAAB do you like going into September with in 15 team leagues?

8:11
Jeff Zimmerman: Assuming $1000 budget: $50 (if winning), but it could be $25 if losing. The winning team will need to pay $2 for those tiebreakers. Also, leave yourself at least $7, possibly $10 for the last week. Guys will sit and entire rosters might need to be churned

8:12
rsands9: In a 15, my catchers are Francisco Alvarez and Campusano. Are free agents Gaspar Flores or Torrens an upgrade over either?

8:12
Jeff Zimmerman: Hold

8:13
vikingjeff: NL only auction keeper- picked up Jackson Kent for $1 for his 2-fer this week and hopefully more.   Didn’t work out like I had hoped.  I can keep playing the stream/shuffle game…Drop him for Smith-Shawver, Dion, or Ed Cabrera.?  I could also just hold Kent for now too, and put him on the bench.

8:13
Jeff Zimmerman: Hold with those other options. You could add and bench ASS instead of Kent

8:13
fyek276: slim pickings this week, ramirez (chc) or loftin?

8:14
Jeff Zimmerman: Ramiriez but Shaw might shake things up

8:15
johnsond76: Already have Webb in my lineup in nl only.  Would you activate palencia to secure chi saves and cut brandyn Garcia, or let it ride another week?

8:15
Jeff Zimmerman: I might go with the two Cubs

8:15
NicklePickers: Which Cantillo do we see @LAA this week? He’s been so inconsistent, even excluding @COL, and my whip needs help…

8:16
Jeff Zimmerman: If you need help with WHIP, you might need to stay away

8:16
Salty: Bautista got roughed up in AA, but reached 97 and got multiple 2-strike counts. Worth stashing to maybe get saves for a few weeks?  Also, please rank Weaver, N Pearson and J Martinez for saves.

8:17
Jeff Zimmerman: I’m ignoring Bautista. Baker is fine.   Weaver, Martinez, Pearson

8:17
Willie Stargell: Was toying with the idea of putting a bid in on Justin Martinez or Tugboat Wilkinson in an old school 4X4 $260 cap keeper league where I have to keep them no cut for the rest of this year and can keep them up to two additional years.  ERA, and WHIP TIGHT! Weighing chance of trying to get a cheap potential keeper without talking a landmine albatross for the last month. Bid or Not Bid?  Thanks so much for all of your work and this chat!

8:18
Jeff Zimmerman: I’m not sure either one will be a savior. If you want a deep add, look to either Herz or Miles

8:19
Jeff Zimmerman: Both could be nice keepers

8:19
gsliv5150: Hi Jeff.  5×5 redraft league. I am at my wits’ end with Kirby and Woo.  Pickings are slim on the wire outside of Jake Bennett.  Suggestions?

8:20
Jeff Zimmerman: You can go with Bennett. I’m in deep leagues; it’s either Quantrill or the Seattle arms. I’m going Seattle

8:20
rsands9: Hi Jeff…thanks for your answers. Do you prefer Wesneski over Singer in a 15 teamer?

8:21
Jeff Zimmerman: Wesneski and it’s not close

8:21
trashpanda: How are we feeling about starting Glasnow @ATL? He’s been dealing in rehab and ATL has been ice cold. (Currently weighing him against Metlton v TB or Detmers v. PHI)

8:22
Jeff Zimmerman: I’m starting him, but you have better options than I do. I might go Melton

8:22
fyek276: how do you value Bibbee moving forward? better than kremer?

8:23
Jeff Zimmerman: I have Bibee just a bit (0.15 ERA) better than Kremer

8:23
JoeG414: Lawlar & Culpepper are available.  Which one to go for ? Or both ?  Would have to drop Gelof, or Royce,   12T deep roto    Homer runs are needed

8:23
Jeff Zimmerman: Stay

8:23
fyek276: start Urena and Alvarez for their 2 steps or just stream in MR like morejon?

8:24
Jeff Zimmerman: I’m streaming both of them.

8:24
johnsond76: Thoughts on how palencia affects Webb in chi?

8:25
Jeff Zimmerman: I don’t think he does until Webb falters. It’ll be similar to the Twins at the trade deadline.

8:25
Johnny5Alive: I’m out of it in an NL only and trying to get guys in faab at prices I could keep for next year. $100 faab money, $270 cap for the draft. What would you bid on Smith -shawver in that context?

8:25
Jeff Zimmerman: $1, I’m not a fan, put $1 on Herz instead

8:26
Missing Ed Kranepool: Soroka is out with a forearm injury which is concerning.  Please rate the following replacement pitchers for him.  Alvarez, Buehler, Rocker, Junk, Houser, Prielipp, Sandoval and Bratt.  The top 3 would be fine.  By the way,  the comment in you waiver column today was priceless! Deep league with poor options for replacement I know.

8:28
Jeff Zimmerman: Alvarez … Sandoval, Houser

8:28
Keith Hernandez’ cat: Longtime FanGraphs member posting only to see whether I’ve logged out and successfully logged back in. Love your material, Jeff. Thanks for a season worth of great info.

8:28
Jeff Zimmerman: You’re good

8:28
Twangs: Klassen this week? 2 starts

8:29
Jeff Zimmerman: I’m not starting him, but I could see adding him to see if he can keep throwing strikes. I wrote too much on him in today’s WW column

8:29
johnsond76: Al only, I could gain some ground in k’s or saves. Have arighetti I can activate but would waive cano. Cano prob not getting saves so go spaghetti?

8:30
Jeff Zimmerman: Arighetti over Cano

8:30
Jeff Zimmerman: That’s it for the week, good luck over these final weeks.

what % of faab do I spend on Kade Anderson? I need one final push in a 15 team NFC league from starting pitching (strong on relief for now) this final month+ and have $250 left – maybe I look elsewhere since I have “should” have Glasnow back soon (and maybe Pivetta). thanks
