Sorry, we have Yoshi instead of Skubal… I fixed it!
- I’m not sure Young’s skills match his mid-3.00s ERA, but he’s been consistently solid across 24 starts, having allowed 4 or fewer ER in all of ’em and CLE is always a nice matchup.
- Painter has been excellent since his recall: 3.14 ERA/0.90 WHIP/16% K-BB with just one bad start (5 ER at MIN) among the seven.
- Peralta has looked sharp in his last 2 (at DET, v. NYM) but a trip to ATL is a much more robust challenge so let’s be careful and not just blindly run him.
- Manaea is coming off back-to-back Duds, but those were against TBR and MIL. He’s been much stronger against the weaker teams this year so while MIA is only 1 game under .500, their offense has been bottom-10 vL so I’m willing to give him a shot.
- I’m a longtime fan of Sandoval but he is just bludgeoning the WHIP with a 1.74 mark. And yet, I still have a 2-x for him against LAA, who sit 26th vL on the year and dead-last over the L30 days.
- Miller is at home where he flourishes (3.14 ERA/0.88 WHIP) but he hasn’t finished 5 IP in any of L3 and the last two at home haven’t been great. I can see taking the shot here as the TEX offense certainly isn’t scary, but I wasn’t super comfortable going beyond 1-x.

Recommendations for Roto 5×5 Leagues
Intro
The chart includes their performance for 2026, their opponent’s wOBA versus the pitcher’s handedness, and recently added opponent’s K% (also v. SP handedness), my general start/sit recommendation for 10-team, 12-team, and 15-team (or more) leagues – essentially a shallow, medium, deep league setup – and then a note about some, most, or all depending on the day. If a pitcher only has an “x” in 15-team, it doesn’t mean there’s no potential use in 10s and 12s, but it’s a much riskier stream for those spots.
These are general recommendations for standard 5×5 roto leagues, and your league situation will carry more weight whether you are protecting ratios or chasing counting numbers. I usually won’t have much to write about aces who are locked into our rotations. If you want to discuss someone further, please feel free to leave a comment. I usually do a few sweeps of the comments before game time in case there are time-sensitive questions.

Very torn on starting Soriano @ the A’s tonight or not
Sacramento is always gonna scare me a bit, but we’ve been seeing guys have some success there, likely due to the decimated A’s lineup. I won’t blame you for skipping him, though
We really that confident on Wesneski going into Philly tonight? He’s looked good lately, but lordy… I’d be lying if I said I didn’t have real hesitation in starting him there.
If he can do his best to prevent Harper/Schwarber from beating him, the rest of that lineup isn’t terribly difficult!! I’ve been perplexed by why they’re always languishing in the bottom 10 of wOBA ranks but then when I really dug in, it’s a 2-man lineup!
