Intro
The chart includes their performance for 2026, their opponent’s wOBA versus the pitcher’s handedness, and recently added opponent’s K% (also v. SP handedness), my general start/sit recommendation for 10-team, 12-team, and 15-team (or more) leagues – essentially a shallow, medium, deep league setup – and then a note about some, most, or all depending on the day. If a pitcher only has an “x” in 15-team, it doesn’t mean there’s no potential use in 10s and 12s, but it’s a much riskier stream for those spots.
These are general recommendations for standard 5×5 roto leagues, and your league situation will carry more weight whether you are protecting ratios or chasing counting numbers. I usually won’t have much to write about aces who are locked into our rotations. If you want to discuss someone further, please feel free to leave a comment. I usually do a few sweeps of the comments before game time in case there are time-sensitive questions.
Color Coding:
- Green – Good Matchup (so lower OPS output by the pitcher’s opponent)
- Yellow – OK
- Red – Bad
No love for Baz huh?
He infuriates me lol
Try being an oriole fan :). Oh wait, we’re not even talking Bradish. /lol
I really thought y’all had something this year, espec. after T-Rog’s breakout last year
In a league where you can only have 15 official SPs a week, do you give Seymour a bump hoping he continues to piggyback (same with Castillo). Or is it just recency bias with Seymour? If he can provide ~8-10 points as a RP a week, that’s pretty valuable, esp given he has upside to the ~30 pts he had last week in my spot usage of him….
Put another way. would you rather drop Seymour or Matt Boyd or Mitch keller or Luis Castillo
You know I’m not the biggest Keller guy so I lean booting him
The total on the cubs game is 11. Winds must be crazy. Seemingly every Shota start it’s blowing out.
It’s terrifying. not sure what to do with him and/or Sandy…
With Shota on the mound, I’m taking the over. :\
I’m benching Shota, even against the Pods.
I can’t blame ya!
Wrigley – wind out to left at 16 and hot (90*), bump to bats
Coors – across from left to right at 10 and Warren (88*)
No rain issues
Looking ahead a bit, are people excited to grab hunter greene? I haven’t seen any discussions around here recently so I’m wondering what expectations are near and long term.
He’s definitely gonna be a MASSIVE waiver pickup in leagues like the NFBC where he won’t hit the FA pool until he pitches unless he was drafted back in March. Obviously standard injury caveats apply, but hard not to see some massive upside from him!
Tonight vs Padres: 89° 🌥️ Wind blowing out to CF at 12mph💨 Gusts up to 24mph #Cubs #Weather
Sandy Al’s two-start @ Col. and @ Ath. I’m scared but no guts no glory right?
You are a brave one, you are!
last time i tried to be proactive and skip Sandy’s 2-step bc he was struggling, he was absolutely dominant. so we know how this goes… i start him this time & we get clocked! saddle up!!!
as expected…………..
Paul … don’t think using ‘ opp wOBA’ to rank SP starts is necessarily best. Your ranking of NYY as 3rd — masked that they are near bottom of all scoring categories, last 7 days. Although (for some unexplained reason), you did rate Mize as a start in all formats❓
It’s not ranked by the opp wOBA, that’s simply a consideration. Mize was a start bc he has a 2.95 ERA/1.07 WHIP and facing a Judge-less NYY.
I didn’t factor Judge missing! My bad!
No prob at all! I don’t mind being questioned on any given reco. It’s always scary to go into Yankee Stadium but Mize has earned a good bit of trust w/the way he’s been dealing so I’m not sure there’s any matchup I wouldn’t trust him in right now!
