- Soriano is in for LAA, not Caden Dana. I’d consider him in between Sasaki & Cavalli.
- A devastating 5th inning v. CHW fueled by 3 BB brought Sasaki back down to Earth with 7 ER. But he allowed 7 ER in his previous 5 starts combined, posting a 2.16 ERA/0.86 WHIP/25% K-BB, so I’m inclined to give him a pass for a tough inning against a good young team and run him back out there without fear today.
- Cavalli is a WHIP risk but has been running well of late (3.86 ERA/1.14 WHIP/19% K-BB in L5) and catches TBR at a good time with them sitting just 22nd vR in the L14 days.
- Meanwhile Suarez gets SEA an upswing as they’ve surge to 10th in the L14 days but he’s also back on track after a hiccup, including 13 Ks in 11.3 IP.
- Roupp is a big get for those who got him off the wire and he could be a big get in this start at a MIA team that doesn’t hit righties very well.
- Vásquez has gone full pumpkin and should be relegated back to streamer status. After a 16% K-BB in his first 8 starts – that included a 12% SwStr, nearly 2x his 2025 mark (7%) – he’d earned some trust, but he’s down to just 5% K-BB in his L6 with a 7% SwStr. And with that ringing endorsement… let’s start him at TEX!
- Tough to see Imai give back all the good of his 4-start run with one of the worst starts of the years: 5 runs on 4 H and 1 BB in just two outs of work. And yet I think we saddle back up here against the J-Ram-less Guardians.
- SEA is going to run Miller/Castillo but I’m not sure of the IP expectation. Miller is coming off an excellent 8-IP gem at WAS (7 Ks, 0 BB) while 3 UER helped Castillo survive his trip to DC.

Recommendations for Roto 5×5 Leagues
Intro
The chart includes their performance for 2026, their opponent’s wOBA versus the pitcher’s handedness, and recently added opponent’s K% (also v. SP handedness), my general start/sit recommendation for 10-team, 12-team, and 15-team (or more) leagues – essentially a shallow, medium, deep league setup – and then a note about some, most, or all depending on the day. If a pitcher only has an “x” in 15-team, it doesn’t mean there’s no potential use in 10s and 12s, but it’s a much riskier stream for those spots.
These are general recommendations for standard 5×5 roto leagues, and your league situation will carry more weight whether you are protecting ratios or chasing counting numbers. I usually won’t have much to write about aces who are locked into our rotations. If you want to discuss someone further, please feel free to leave a comment. I usually do a few sweeps of the comments before game time in case there are time-sensitive questions.

With the remnants of the tropical storm here in Atlanta, there is a possibility of another rainout. Flood watch through tomorrow morning.

Rain – I’m not seeing any rain. Given the other comment about ATL, I checked a couple sites and none have rain a serious threat with any storms likely popping south a ways. Weather being weather, it’s always subject to change.
I know this is a pitching column, but reminder for those in daily moves leagues that the Mets/Phils don’t play today and the Cards/Royals tomorrow due to World Cup matches. So make sure to get your set-it-and-forget-it hitters out of there if you have bench options.
BTW, if anyone wonders how much weather can matter, I watched a perfect example of how it can yesterday. Soto facing Nola. Soto hits one 105mph but gets way under it at 42* LA. Soto flings the bat away in disgust and Crawford is drifting under it. . . .and drifting. . . and drifting. . . and then leaping at the fence as the ball lands 1st row over a 15′ fence. Wind was blowing out at 17 and it was mid/upper-80’s so the ball just carried and carried and carried.
The ball carried 389′. Per Statcast, there have been 14 balls hit at those exact parameters and they have traveled an average 354′ (& that includes Soto’s, so it’s less than that)
The weather is sooo important and these reports daily have been SO useful!! I appreciate the work so much

OK I need an intervention. I’m considering Springs against LAA. No Trout and I’m trailing my opponent this week so I need positive points.
I do NOT like that the game is in SAC. Or the wind is blowing out. Or Springs has given up 11 HR in his last 5 games (2 of which in Vegas). Or the fact that the last time Springs scored positive points (in my scoring system) was May 17th and it was only 6 points, which was his high mark since early April.
Someone please tell me to leave him on the bench. And tell me to sit Martin Perez too. Thanks in advance. haha
Sorry, semi-sicko myself, am considering it somewhat, probably 25%…..so likely won’t…but Good luck whatever you decide! I have been burned by Springs a few times this year, and keep thinking he has been, and can be better in these types of spots…
LAA is such a wildcard where they can get merked or merk on any given day which only complicates this further. I thiiiink you can make the case in your lg and situation and if it gives you a better chance than passing, then I can see going for it!
Paul – been playing around with the Baseball Sim in FG Labs. It’s super useful but also a little cumbersome since all I can look at is one game at a time. To compare 2 guys in different games, I need to open a 2nd window and run the sim on the 2nd game and then flip between screens (or split screen it which then only shows half the data and I have to scroll across to see the whole thing).
Since it seems like the baseline simulation is pre-run for each game and the data is all there, why not just create a daily list of all players in one list? You could have one for hitters and one for pitchers.

Why would you not start Miller in a 12t? Because of the possibility of a no-decision? For me, I can definitely use the K and ratios help ….
I just don’t know how long he or Castillo gonna go, but if you’re ok maybe only get 3-4 good IP w/some Ks, then go ahead & run him. He could go 5 and still get a win with Castillo getting 4 after him, too. It’s just not the traditional opener/follower so it’s a tough read
OK so Miller’s just going to get real starts and Castillo gets what is left? Miller is through 5 brilliant IP. I’ll just start treating as a regular SP even when he’s opening. I know SEA said they’re going to rotate that stuff around, too, so I’ll do my best to stay on top of it
