Second Base ADP Market Report: 3/15/22

With drafts beginning to ramp up, it is important to monitor where players are being drafted on a regular basis. Throughout draft season, I will be doing that work for you with regular updates on the Average Draft Position on NFBC up until Opening Day. You can find all the pieces in this series here.

Top 100 Players Rising

Jorge Polanco (+7.12)- It is not surprising that Polanco is rising after his fantastic 2021 season in which he hit .269/.323/.503 with 33 home runs and 11 stolen bases. While some might look at it as a fluke, he made gains in his exit velocity and his hard hit percentages without giving up much contact. Maybe the power comes down a little, but this is legit. 

Jonathan India (+9.35)- India is rising after coming off of an amazing rookie season in which he hit .269/.376/.459 with 21 home runs and 12 stolen bases. The skills are pretty legitimate, but I don’t know that there is much room for growth. However, the recent news that he will continue to lead off is great and the floor is extremely high.

Ty France (-11.04)- See the piece in this series on first basemen. 

Jean Segura (+18.67)- Segura’s rise continues as many in the industry talk about how underrated he is at his ADP. Segura isn’t a star and doesn’t have a standout fantasy tool, but he offers five category production late in a draft with a high floor. I think he is still a value at his current ADP in spite of the rise over the draft season.

Others of Note-

Cesar Hernandez (+11.92)- Hernandez is moving up after landing in a nice spot in Washington where he will hit high in the lineup for the Nationals. Hernandez is coming off of a season in which he sold out for power a bit. However, he still made a lot of in zone contact and with the recent news that he will lead off in Washington, you should expect the price to continue to rise. He is worth the price, but hopefully it won’t get out of control. 

Nick Solak (-18.89)- Solak is falling after a bad season and recent moves (signing of Seager and Semien) by the Rangers which may put him out of a full time job. It is clear that Solak will head to the outfield, but at this point he needs to prove he can hit righties and until he does, there is no price where he makes much sense. 

Nico Hoerner (-27.48)- Hoerner was already dropping because of a boring and unsexy profile and now it has gotten even worse. With the Cubs signing both Simmons and Villar, Hoerner is likely a utility guy and could potentially be sent down to the minors.
