Rotographs Rankings Spreadsheet – First Run

You smell that? That’s the smell of spring in the air. Baseball is around the corner and draft season will be in high gear before we know it. We already ran our first set of rankings that you hopefully got a chance to check out as they were rolled out. You can either bookmark the Rankings filter which will show you all posts dealing with rankings or you can access them by position in the sidebar:

In a post later today, I’ll be covering all of our draft tools in more depth, but let’s get to what you came here for, the spreadsheet!

Not only does it contain all of the rankings from the seven of us, but we’ve also added Steamer Projections and a cross-off capability that allows you to assign each player to the team that drafted him while putting a line through his name and numbers. Thanks to Jeff Zimmermann, Tanner Bell, and Danielle Mason (Justin’s wife) for their work on this. As with our rankings, this is our first run, so we will be making enhancements where necessary. In fact, if there is anything you’d really like to see on future updates, please let us know. If it’s feasible, we’ll try to get it on there. The next update of this spreadsheet won’t come until March when we update the rankings.

Without further ado:

ROTOGRAPHS FIRST RUN RANKINGS SPREADSHEET

There was a misalignment in OF and RP in the first upload here which skewed some Steamer Projections. It has been fixed. If you downloaded before 12:58 PM Central on 2/19, please re-download.

Mookie Betts projection is off in the spreadsheet. 36 HR and other stats are not flowing in correctly.

Also Mike Trout is off as well. Looks like somewhere and additional line was added and threw off the stats.

This is great, Paul. Will you guys be doing a top 300 composite ranking like you did last year?

Will the DH rankings ever be posted?

This is awesome. Any thoughts about auction values or placing a column for Auction $? Being able to adjust the values based on league budget would be amazing.

Absolutely awesome work guys, a column for auction values and for ADP would be clutch. Regardless, thank you!!!!!!

How can the “strikeout” feature be used?

Hey fightin, I think you’re referring to when names get changed to a “strike through” font?

If so, on the first tab of the spreadsheet, “Settings”, is a list of team names. You can enter team names or the names of other managers in your league.

Those names will then appear in the “Drafted By” drop down menu on each positional tab.

This is a basic means of tracking who’s been taken during the draft. And after a player is marked as being drafted, their name and ranking information turns to “strike through” font.

Hopefully we’ll be able to implement some of the other suggestions and this can become a more fully functioning draft spreadsheet.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

I tried to add more teams than 10 in the described method but they don’t show up in the pull down when entering protected players.

I think this is great. I use a slow draft in my league so the “drafted by” comes in handy for both keepers and taken players. The target column is a nice feature too. A DH column is the only thing missing. Great job!

Thank you. A top 100, 200 or 300 would be a great addition.
Also, how do you suggest we use AVG or Adjusted AVG. to create tiers?
