Roto Riteup: June 17, 2026

I remember this play in Little League:

On the Agenda:

  1. Closer Chaos
  2. Quick Hits
  3. Various News and Notes
  4. Streaming Pitchers

Closer Chaos

Daniel Palenica was placed on the IL with elbow inflammation. He is expected to undergo further testing but this is likely heading in a very bad direction. Jacob Webb and Caleb Thielbar are likely the next up in the Cubs pen for saves.

Quick Hits

Angel Martinez was placed on the IL with a fractured foot. He is expected to miss at least a month, but will likely not return until after the All Star Break. The Guardians recalled Petey Halpin to take his spot on the roster.

Randy Arozarena was placed on the 10-Day IL with a hamstring injury. It isn’t expected to keep him out long after the minimum so he should be reserved in all formats.

Michael Harris II left Tuesday’s game with a back issue.

It appears that it just tightened up on him. Consider him day-to-day at this time.

Maikel Garcia left Tuesday’s game with hand soreness

This issue has apparently been lingering for Garcia recently. Consider him day-to-day for now.

Edward Cabrera left Tuesday’s start with a cramp in his right hand.

This doesn’t sound too serious. Consider him day-to-day for now.

Various News and Notes
Robert Gasser threw 5.2 scoreless innings, allowing two hits and two walks while striking out five in the no-decision against the Guardians.

Gasser wasn’t overly impressive in the outing, but did do a good job of inducing weak contact and finishing off batters once he did get ahead in the count. The control and command have been an issue but he does have a full arsenal and good stuff, so if he can reign things in a bit, there is upside in the former prospect.

Kody Clemens went 2-for-4 with a home run in the victory over the Rangers on Tuesday.

Clemens has been on fire recently, hitting seven home runs over the last three weeks. He hasn’t made a change that has caused this and will regress, but he is multi-positional eligible and will play regularly in Minnesota making him viable in all formats while he is running hot.

Streaming Pitchers (Under 50% in Yahoo)

Pitcher for Today: Javier Assad vs COL

Assad has pitched well since joining the rotation and he has a great matchup versus a Rockies team that struggles on the road.

Other Options: JR Ritchie vs SF, Andrew Painter vs MIA, Brandon Sproat vs CLE, Kyle Leahy vs SD.

Pitcher for Tomorrow: Shane Drohan vs CLE

Drohan has pitched well since getting the call and has a good matchup at home.

Other Options: Matthew Liberatore at KC, Gage Jump vs LAA, Jack Leiter vs MIN, Martin Perez vs SF, Sean Manaea at PHI.

For those of you that would like to see how these picks play out, I have a doc I put together to track the stats from my recommended pitchers. It does not include the “Other Options.”
