Paul Sporer Baseball Chat – February 2nd, 2018

Check out the transcript below!

2:29

Paul Sporer: Let’s talk some baseball!!

2:32

James: What do you make of Jose Martinez? Should he get a chance to be an everyday starter?

2:37

Paul Sporer: He smashes the ball and he’s penciled in at 1B right now. I think he’ll get a chance to show how legit ’17 was. I know the Statcast podcast hyped him recently, too.

2:39

Dan: Did Eno make his announcement yet?

2:39

Paul Sporer: Who?

2:40

Dave: Gotta keep one, same price:  Verlander or Greinke, and why?

2:41

Nick: Taillon for 2018? Talk to me…

2:44

Paul Sporer: I’m a fan. Very talented and had periods of extended excellence. Fairly priced, too

2:44

Dave: Keep one, OPS league, same price:  Buxton or Mazara

2:44

Paul Sporer: Love Mazara, but gotta go with Buxton’s speed

2:47

Christian: Am I crazy to consider keeping Acuña AND Torres over Robbie Ray in a 10-team, H2H (standard). It’s 7 player, keep forever…

2:47

Paul Sporer: In a 10-teamer, I’d probably go Acuña/Ray and let Torres go

2:48

Sandy Ravage: In a 5×5 roto standard cat 10 tm AL only, should I keep Mike Trout at $57?

2:48

Paul Sporer: Certainly viable depending on usual inflation rates in your league

2:48

Jay: Would you be comfortable with Zack Godley as your 2nd best  SP in a league that starts 3 SPs per day? Appreciate all the content. Look forward to your Friday chat’s all week.

2:49

Paul Sporer: As long as I had a true frontliner (top 10) as my ace

2:50

Winter Blues: Calhoun or McMahon? Zimmer or Margot?

2:50

Paul Sporer: Calhoun, assuming it’s Willie. And Margot

2:51

Joe: Would you trade Conforto ($7) in an NL only for any of Weaver ($4), Gohara ($1), or Godley ($8)?  can only keep if they make start the year on MLB team (or DL)

2:52

Paul Sporer: I’m pretty concerned about Conforto’s shoulder so while I usually lean hitter over pitcher, but in this case I’d keep Godley or Weaver. I think I’d lean Weaver at half the price

2:52

Bryan: Dynasty league,  would you take Chase Anderson, Luis Castillo, or Godley?

2:53

Paul Sporer: Godley is hella popular today! But I gotta go Castillo here. He’s my highest rated of the three for ’18 and the youngest of the bunch

2:53

Joe: on XM last night, Dave Roberts said Grandal would get more ABs that Barnes.  Barnes still worth $4 in an NL only?

2:54

Paul Sporer: Ya, for sure. A C2 with his kind of upside definitely works at that price. And there’s still 2B potential for Barnes to get PAs

2:54

Buttz: Hey Paul

2:54

Paul Sporer: Sup Buttz

2:54

CBg: 18 team points league, keep Shark ($17) or Paxton ($24) or Hand ($10) as last keeper

2:55

Paul Sporer: I’d keep Shark. Volume is big in a points league and he’s a workhorse. Major upside if he can give up fewer HRs, too

2:55

Jack: Which Justin are you more bullish on in 2018 – Smoak or Bour?

2:56

Paul Sporer: Smoak. Even with regression, he should be pretty solid. Bour hasn’t yet reached 450 PA and he turns 30 this year

2:56

Seth : What’s up Paul! $260 cap, 5 keepers. I’m taking over a new team. Would Marwin Gonzalez be worth a keeper at $10? I’m only keeping Severino and Osuna as of right now.

3:00

Paul Sporer: Ya I think so. I think even a *sharp* regression would be worth $10 — I see 16-18 HR, 65-70 RBI, .270 AVG, and a handful of SBs (6-9)

3:00

CBg: Traded $10 Bellinger for a $17 dollar Carrasco and $20 Pollack, I made a good choice up upgrade pitching?

3:01

Paul Sporer: Ya that’s a nice deal for 2018

3:01

Bo: My home league (5×5 12-team mixed H2H) always goes on a crazy closer run and drafts mid- and low-tier closers far above their ADP (although the top 5 or so go where expected). In that context, how would you approach saves? Try to get 2 of the top 5 guys? Punt saves in the draft and chase them on waivers instead?

3:05

Paul Sporer: Surprised to see them aggressively chased in H2H as it seems like the easiest format to punt or de-prioritize them. The closer pool is pretty weird right now as I don’t think there’s a ton of certainty as even the studs have some questions. Grab one solid guy, get an undervalued upside guy (Melancon, Treinen), and then a backup spec late (Kela, Givens, Boxberger, N.Jones, Minter)

3:05

Kyle: Is Chapman still a top 5 closer? Top 10? Top 15? Top…

3:08

Paul Sporer: Yes, especially with the aforementioned uncertain market. I understand some of the nervousness around Chappy, but even a lesser version is still a beast

3:09

Pie: In a dynasty start up, how aggressively would you take prospects?

3:11

Paul Sporer: I’d be open to reaching on the Acuñas and Robleses (Roblii?) of the world, but I wouldn’t be going too bananas with far off prospects in the first 8-10 rounds

3:11

808: why did you have to tease Eno so much to the point that he had to leave, paul, why?!!?

3:11

808: dick

3:12

Paul Sporer: He actually said chatter 808 was the reason he was leaving and giving up on life

3:12

Joe: Better asset to keep: Nick Williams or Altheer?

3:13

Paul Sporer: I’d go Nick Williams

3:14

Teoscar: Am I going to get sent back to the minors?  If not what should be expected of me?

3:19

Paul Sporer: Yes, I think so 🙁 I was so excited about him, too. Of course just bc he starts in the minors doesn’t mean he’s down there all year. Granderson & Morales aren’t youngbloods and Grichuk has issues of his own so I think he’ll get a chance at some point

3:19

Craig : Thoughts on Jake Flaherty and Gohara? Do you think they both start the year in the bigs?

3:22

Paul Sporer: I think both are slated to start in Triple-A barring an insane ST that forces their way in, but I see Atlanta having openings sooner than later and Gohara getting a look at some point in April

3:22

Eric: 5×5 ottoneu league, current rotation is Scherzer/Verlander/Carrasco/Godley/Morton/E. Santana.  Only have like $30 for auction.  Am I too thin?

3:23

Paul Sporer: No that’s a helluva rotation. Get a couple solid specs w/your $30 to round it out since you’ve got 2 older aces and Morton’s health record, but I like that setup

3:24

Bryan: Would you rather have an $11 Willson Contreras or a $14 Aaron Nola in a 1 catcher league?

3:25

Paul Sporer: I love Nola, but probably gotta go Contreras at that price, even in a 1-C league

3:25

808: Jose De Leon…what do you make of him this year?

3:28

Paul Sporer: Very interesting post-hype guy arm who costs virtually nothing. He should be the first one up if he doesn’t secure a spot out of Spring

3:28

Kyle: Is Chapman a top 5 closer in 2018? Top 10? Top 15? Top…

3:29

Paul Sporer: Ugh, now I’m mad I answered your question. I hate repeat questioners

3:29

Nathan: Chances that Wilson Ramos is a top 5 fantasy catcher? Top 3?

3:31

Paul Sporer: Certainly possible, he’s one of my main C targets as he’s usually the 9th or 10th C off the board

3:32

Erik: Obviously, you adjust to how any individual draft is going, but in general, in roughly what rounds to you plan on drafting your top 3 starters? How about your top 2 relievers?

3:33

Paul Sporer: Ya it usually depends on league format, too. I’m looking to have 2 SP and 1 CL in the first 10 rounds, but then it’s wide open from there

3:33

toki: When will the positional rankings be ready?

3:34

Paul Sporer: Working on them and rolling them out in a couple weeks!

3:34

Tears for Fears: Where do you think Darvish ends up?

3:34

Paul Sporer: No clue at this point, but I’ll say Minnesota

3:36

Jack: Who woukd you cut in a 12 team points- Adames borretto tapia or swanson

3:36

Paul Sporer: All of them? I’m not sure how many keepers everyone has, but if it’s only cutting one, I’ll say Swanson

3:36

Paul Sporer: We’ll see

3:37

Erik: Are people being overly cautious with Judge? He was a top-three earner last year, and he’s going around the back of the first round/early second round, it looks like.

3:38

Paul Sporer: I don’t think so. I’d go the other way and suggest he’s being overdrafted. He was amazing in ’17, but there’s very little chance he gets *better* and regression could be particularly cruel given the real holes that still exist in his swing

3:38

JD15: I thought Matt Carpenter was penciled in at 1B…?

3:38

Paul Sporer: 3B

3:39

Tone: Paul, is there a $25 gap between Betts and Yelich? Looking at projections and it’s hard to see that. I can keep one or the other.

3:39

Paul Sporer: Wait, what? No, definitely not. If one is $25 more expensive than the other, keep the cheaper one for sure

3:40

Charlie: Why do you love Mazara?

3:44

Paul Sporer: Because he’s a really good hitter who acquitted himself well in two full seasons as a 21 and 22 year old. Definitely needs to improve vL to be a big time stud, but I think the fantasy baseball community is too harsh on guys who come up and aren’t insta-studs.

3:44

botchatheny: would ray lankford be a god in todays game?

3:44

Paul Sporer: A god? Probably not, but the same very good player he was in his own day

3:47

Mathenaging: Think Votto hits 35+ homers again? Where did that come from?

3:47

Paul Sporer: He’s a tremendously elite hitter and upped his FB% to an 8-yr high 38%

3:47

Dan: Who’s the number 1 overall pick in the Fangraphs staff softball game?

3:48

Paul Sporer: Jeff Sullivan had a nasty breaker

3:48

fresh basil: Snow peas or Sugar Snap Peas? Heated debate in my world

3:48

Paul Sporer: What?

3:49

Eno: Paul….I miss you

3:49

Paul Sporer: I miss you more… even though you’re probably a fake Eno

3:49

Charlotte: I think it’s time for a treat!

3:49

Paul Sporer: You ALWAYS think that, though

3:49

Brian: Is Devers a worthy keepe r

3:49

Paul Sporer: There’s almost too much helpful info to answer this question………

3:49

Paul Sporer: Generally speaking, he probably is, but of course league factors matter

3:50

Brian: AM I crazy to worry about Hoskins?  Could be Kevin Maas.  Shane Spencer.  Or even like a Jay Bruce

3:52

Paul Sporer: I mean, he’s nothing like Spencer, but the Maas call isn’t completely out of bounds. You’re not wrong to have some concern, though, as it was just 212 PA

3:52

Guest: Will Kendry Morales be better or worst than last year?

3:53

Paul Sporer: Worse is probably the wise bet for a 35 year old, if only bc tabbing him for another 600+ PA seems unsafe

3:53

Don’t Bogaerts the nachos: Give me a projection that would exceed expectations for Xander

3:53

Paul Sporer: .300/20/20

3:53

Cheech: Ayyyyyyyyyy, who are your Top 15 dynasty league International/Rookie Signee players?

3:54

Paul Sporer: Please leave.

3:54

Sweaty Jim: Pauly need your opinion. Keeping Altuve, Mookie, J Ram, Hoskins, Darvish, and Keuchel already. Do I trade Murphy for Gerrit Cole and shore up my pitching? I feel like there are a lot of 2Bs I want that are bargains late but not many ace upside guys.

3:55

Paul Sporer: Yes, I like this trade and the reasoning. I dig Murphy in general, but I’m concerned about the health and still really like Cole

3:55

Sweaty Jim: (12tm H2h points btw)

3:55

Paul Sporer: The H2H aspect makes me even more interested in the deal

3:55

toki: When deciding on what parks to visit what is more important in the decision, the food or the beer served at the park?  My vote is beer.

3:56

Paul Sporer: That’s fair, but as a non-drinker, I’d vote food personally. I think it’d just depend on the person’s interests between the two

3:56

Moltar : I miss baseball so much I’m currently watching cricket while home sick today

3:56

Paul Sporer: I don’t blame you at all!

3:56

Andy: Your rap at the end of Eno’s last podcast was dope.

3:56

Paul Sporer: LOL, thank you!

3:56

Moltar : Last keeper decision is down to market-rate Keuchel or cheap Fulmer. I’m stumped.

3:57

Paul Sporer: Understandably. I’m not *overly* concerned about Fulmer’s ulnar nerve surgery so I’d go for him at the cheaper cost.

3:57

Sean: HELLO PAUL SPORER…. Where you at on Ian Desmond this season? I feel like he’s being completely ignored and still offers a ton of upside.

3:58

Paul Sporer: Agree on the upside, but not sure he’s being ignored as he’s regularly going around pick 100 or so

3:59

Curt: Hi Paul–thoughts on Zunino as a potential top 5 (gasp) C option in standard 5×5 this year?  Thank you, sir!!!

3:59

Paul Sporer: Ew, gross.

4:01

Paul Sporer: Joking aside, I just don’t dig Zunino. I think the AVG is a complete fraud. I see .220/25 on the high end

4:01

Scruffy-Lookin’ Nerf Hurler: Better overall offensive output this year: F Freeman or J Ramirez?

4:02

Paul Sporer: Don’t see much difference. They’re going 2-3 picks apart. Depends if you value the speed of Ramirez or power reliability of Freef

4:02

Pat: 5×5 standard roto 10 tm, I can only keep 3 players and I’m trying to decide between $4 Acuna and $26 Kluber. If I let Acuna go, the Braves fan in my league will get him and never let go…

4:04

Paul Sporer: Sounds like you want to keep Acuna and I think it’s perfectly defensible

4:04

Twoseamers: Can we find a home for Logan Morrison?

4:06

Paul Sporer: Feel like we gotta get Hosmer somewhere first. Maybe the Mets for LoMo?

4:06

fresh basil: Worse chatter? Repeat questioners or the “are you ever going to answer my question?” guy?

4:07

Paul Sporer: They’re basically one in the same, but repeaters edge this one out lol

4:07

Pie Eaton Contest: Chances Swanson struggles enough for Albies to get SS eligibility?

4:08

Paul Sporer: Certainly possible, but while I don’t love Swanson, I think he will be better than we saw in ’17 and maintain the job with Albies holding down 2B

4:08

Paul Sporer: Would be pretty awesome, though

4:08

toki: Please tell me how I’m suppose to feel about Jorge Alfaro and Chance Sisco

4:09

Paul Sporer: Cheap upside options, who both have a real shot at full-time roles. I particularly like taking a shot on Alfaro late

4:09

Old Fat Guy: Can Felipe Rivero attain “elite” tier rating, or say top 4 Closer status in 2018?

4:09

Paul Sporer: For sure, he’s probably my favorite closer target

4:09

Jose De Leon: If I cannot get promoted to MLB, I’m gonna bring down fangraphs!

4:09

HappyFunBall: Main page says FanGraphs is down … is this thing still on?

4:09

Paul Sporer: Oh no

4:10

Mr. Nor’easter: Do you think Carlos Santana will post comparable counting stats in Philly? Better park, worse lineup …

4:11

Paul Sporer: Ya, I think he will. CLE was trash in ’12 and he had a comparable season to his ’17. And I think Philly will be better than a 68-win team (which is what CLE was in ’12)

4:11

Austin Meadows: Is LF waiting for me in After super 2sday?

4:12

Paul Sporer: If you hit a helluva lot better than you did in ’17

4:12

Anthony: What do you think about Derek Fisher? Seems blocked for now, but if you gave him 500-600 AB, where would you put him?

4:14

Mario Mendoza: expect much offense out of JP Crawford?

4:15

Raul Gillette: Is it a priority to sell Scherzer this year in a dynasty league? Would Severino be a good target?

4:15

Paul Sporer: Whoops, didn’t mean to post boht

4:15

Paul Sporer: both*

4:16

Paul Sporer: Crawford will be much better than Mendoza, lol. He’s just 23 y/o. I think he’ll be a low-.700s this year

4:16

Paul Sporer: Not sure it has to be a priority to sell Max, but I do like targeting Sevvy

4:16

NOT Golden Lumbers: Can keep 3 MIs: Moncada, Marwin, Gordon, Story

4:17

Paul Sporer: Think we gotta drop Marwin there even though I’m suuuuper geeked on Moncada

4:17

Matt: Yo, Paul – did you outsource your chat to a sloth today?!? Like, a sloth that knows how to type. You know, because sloths are slow.

4:17

Paul Sporer: Did you outsource your chats to someone who asks terrible and useless questions? Because, ya know, this is a terrible and useless question

4:18

Byron Buxton: Do you like me, Paul?

4:20

Paul Sporer: Check this out once the site is back up – https://www.fangraphs.com/fantasy/byron-buxtons-second-half-surge/

4:20

Marlin’s Man: Hard to be enthusiastic drafting Marlins this year, especially guys like Starlin and JT.  I was all pumped for a nice 2018 in the Bronx from Starlin but, alas, he’s must be all but undraftable except for super deep leagues, right?

4:20

Paul Sporer: Ya I can’t envision really drafting any Marlins at this point, even Realmuto, who I really like as a player

4:21

Hosmer Hops: Say Darvish ends up in MIN or LA. Would it be nuts for MIL to sign Hosmer and trade Santana for a pitcher?

4:21

Paul Sporer: I don’t think they need Hosmer at all, though

4:21

Brian: In a ten team league, is Devers a worthy keeper over Cano if I am in contention?

4:21

Paul Sporer: Ya, I’m cool with that

4:21

Mario Mendoza: So you think JoMart plays 1B and Carp 3B, rather than Carp 1B and Gyorko 3B??

4:21

Paul Sporer: Yep

4:21

Pablo: What’s your best guess for Eduardo Nunez plate appearances this year? Worried that I shouldn’t have drafted him given unknown landing spot.

4:23

Paul Sporer: 480. Understand your worries, but speed guys can succeed even on shorter workloads plus he his positional flexibility helps

4:23

fresh basil: Better OF keeper at $8? Gardner or Inciarte?

4:23

Paul Sporer: Inciarte

4:23

Tyler: I have the 2nd pick in a minor league draft. Assuming Acuna is taken, would you go with Vlad, Ohtani, or Robles?

4:23

Paul Sporer: Ohtani

4:23

Mario Mendoza: are you going back to the well on Gregory Polanco?

4:24

Paul Sporer: I am, yes. I know the shoulder is a concern, but I’m still willing to bet on him, especially 100 picks cheaper than last yr

4:24

Gary: I don’t really get your comments on the pod about Godley. You wouldn’t blame people for taking Blake Snell over him? Go look at Godley’s numbers last year. K/9, Sw Str, GB%, WHIP, SIERA, xFIP, etc. is all very good/elite (Top 25). And probably only get better with humidor. Can you explain your thoughts deeper on him?

4:27

Paul Sporer: Ya, no, I’m aware of his numbers from last year. I’ve been hyped on Godley for a good while now. But that doesn’t mean he’ll just repeat those numbers, that’s not how it works.  I don’t think the true talent of the two is so far off that Godley MUST be valued ahead of Snell. Drafting solely off the previous year’s numbers is never a great strategy

4:28

Not Eno Sarris: Status of the 2018 SP Guide?  I need to know how aggressively to draft Luiz Gohara and Brent Honeywell

4:28

Paul Sporer: No independent SPG this year, but I contributed the pitcher profiles to the Fantasy Black Book, now available — https://www.amazon.com/Fantasy-Baseball-Black-Book-2018/dp/1976890519/…

4:28

Nicky: Is Giles the closer heading into the year? Will he have any rope?

4:30

Paul Sporer: Ya he’s definitely the guy headed into the season. He has some rope, but he seems to lose the job for a spell every year. Solid mid-tier closer, but I wouldn’t take him in the top 100 which is where he’s currently going

4:30

1B value: I’m often laughed at post draft year after year as I’ve settled for E.Hosmer in 3 out of the last 4 years.  He’s not horrible, but a move to SD would worry me.  Thoughts on Hosmer?  Weak stock, or an undervalued 1B?

4:31

Paul Sporer: Why would a move to SD worry you? KC is a horrible park and SD’s arrow is up while KC’s is down so I think it’d be a slightly net positive move

4:31

Bob Villar: Better OBP dynasty asset, Calhoun or Albies?

4:31

Paul Sporer: Albies

4:31

Zigs: Can Devers finish the season as a top 6 3B?

4:31

Paul Sporer: if he puts his mind to it!

4:31

Astros 2019: When will the ATC projections be available on the player pages?

4:32

Paul Sporer: I’m not sure. I’ll mention it to the technical team

4:32

JD: Will the Rays ever bring up Honeywell or is he destined to stay in Durham forever? #FreeHoney

4:32

Paul Sporer: LOL, they’d freakin’ better. I hope he’s up relatively early this year

4:33

toki: Why do people fawn over quad-A players?

4:33

Paul Sporer: What?

4:34

toki: How valuable would Adam Dunn be if he was 28 yo?

4:34

Paul Sporer: What?

4:34

Joe: FYI Gyorko penciled in at 3B, Carp at 1B

4:34

Paul Sporer: Nah, roster resource has Martinez/Carp at 1B/3B

4:35

tacopocket: do you prefer the one stud this year plus a GLOB guy?  or 2 semi studs?   So Kershaw+corbin for $70 or carlos Martinez and degrom for $70?

4:35

Paul Sporer: in your example, I’d prefer CMart/Degrom for sure

4:35

Estevao: Hi Paul i understand it might be a little annoying to receive these messages with articles, and i won’t send them anymore, but i’m a complete outsider, i know nobody in the community and attracting any viewer is hard, so i have to try something and it helps, but i’ll stop, my apologies

4:36

Paul Sporer: No you don’t. You’ve been told multiple times that spamming your stuff is no way to get noticed. Put out good stuff and it’ll find an audience. Promote it on your social media and try to engage people in convos on social media and then they may check out your stuff. When you’re ONLY self promoting, you instantly turn people off

4:37

tacopocket: JDM at $38 or Freddie at $36.  5 OF league.  I assume you’re saying Freddie but gotta confirm

4:37

Paul Sporer: Ya I love JDM, but I’ll go Freef dog here

4:37

Dan: Re: Darvish landing spots, are there any particular suitors that would drastically affect his outlook one direction or the other?

4:38

Paul Sporer: Not really, IMO. He survived in Texas for years so I’m not too concerned about a tough park or anything. Nor do I think he’s trash after the two ugly WS starts.

4:38

phil: By six more weeks of winter, I meant a lot of free agents won’t sign until mid March!

4:38

Paul Sporer: LOL

4:38

Mario Mendoza: hats off to whoever wrote the FG unavailable page: FanGraphs is down for the moment.
Please rely on the eye test until we get back up and running!

4:38

Paul Sporer: They’re testing database updates and unfortunately it’s causing the intermittent outages

4:39

YOAT: I feel like the humidor in ARI isn’t getting enough attention. Destroys the value of Goldy

4:40

Paul Sporer: It’s not getting a lot attention bc there’s NO concrete info on it. I also think its effects are wildly overstated. I don’t think it kills Goldy if it does actually come to fruition

4:40

Mark: Which one would you keep between $20 Eaton, $10 Felipe Rivero or $5 Dahl

4:40

Paul Sporer: Without knowing league type, I’ll say Rivero

4:40

Brian: Is Devers a keeper for $3 in an OBP league where other options include Quintana, Junis, Fulmer, and Dahl at same price?

4:40

Paul Sporer: Of course

4:41

Mark: A $1 Robbie Ray is worthy of a $5, $10 or $15 raise?

4:41

Paul Sporer: $5 max. I don’t like extending SPs as a general rule, but $6 is still a great price

4:41

Hi: Paul….love you…18 team, 5 keeper points league. Thinking about trying a new strategy this year because guys in my league don’t value pitching. Im currently keeping Carrasco, Castillo, Cole, Samardzja, and Ray. All for $67 of a 260 budget. Am I going to much with arms or do you think it could work?

4:42

Paul Sporer: Very interesting. I’d need to know the potential bats you’re bypassing to feel fully confident in an answer, but that cost for those five is very good so I can get behind it. Still plenty of $$ to buy bats

4:42

tacopocket: mets can’t sign lomo.  smith, gonzalez and bruce are at 1B.   we already have nimmo on the bench so Of is pretty crowded too.  Can lomo play 2B or 3B?   Or catcher?

4:44

Paul Sporer: Ya it’s crowded, but I’m not sold on AGonz being anything and don’t love Smith, either. Think Bruce is starting in the OF. I get what you’re saying. I was just scanning roster resource for the crappiest 1B starter and saw AGonz

4:44

Harry: Somebody should point out to whiny agents that it takes two to make a market.  Things will start to move when the top guys holding out get realistic.  Disagree?

4:45

Paul Sporer: I mean, it depends what they’re being told is “realistic”. I certainly don’t look at arguably the most stagnant market ever and come out thinking the players are the issue

4:45

tacopocket: acuna starting in the majors?  or will they delay him a la Bryant?

4:45

Paul Sporer: Ya, I think he gets Bryant treatment and goes down for 10-15 days

4:45

Larry: Paul, I read your contribution to this year’s Black Book with great interest. Do you think RPV applies to ottoneu or is it a different animal?

4:46

Paul Sporer: Thanks! RPV is Joe’s baby, so I think you’d have to ask him about that and see if he’s considered it for Ottoneu

4:46

Bern: Who was your favorite player growing up? Why?

4:46

Paul Sporer: Trammell and Clemens. Tram bc I was a Tigers fan and Clemens bc he was awesome

4:47

Matt: ZiPS is close to done. How long before they’re on FG in aggregate, and how long until they folded into Depth Charts?

4:47

Paul Sporer: Not sure, would probably have to ping Dan on that one

4:48

Jake: Yeah, that AZ humidor really destroyed JD Martinez too…

4:48

Paul Sporer: Well it doesn’t exist yet, but I just don’t think it’ll turn Chase into some offensive wasteland

4:48

DRMawson: Not going to ask a question because you guys never answer them. #JustLurking

4:48

Paul Sporer: Cool, dude.

4:49

Lou Sassole: First fantasy player that you followed from prospect-dom to retirement?

4:51

Paul Sporer: Hmm, not 100% sure, but I went to see Felix when he was on Tacoma against Round Rock bc I was so hyped on him

4:51

TGIF: Chances that Machado actually loses 3B eligibility heading in 2019? Already covered at SS, but if he can get out of BAL, is the best yet to come?

4:51

Paul Sporer: Pretty good I’d assume. I can’t imagine why they’d want to move him off SS at any pt in the season

4:52

RIch: Paul keep 6, 11 team mixed obp league. Can lock guys in up to 3 years. Too early to go three on Albies at $6,11,16. Is two a safer play or would you throw him back in and hope to get him under 6 at auction?

4:52

Paul Sporer: I can’t imagine him going under $6 so I’d definitely keep him. I’d probably go $11.

4:52

Cory: Keeper league, last keeper: Quintana or Paxton?

4:53

Paul Sporer: Gimme Q

4:53

Big Paulie on the Mic: Yo, I got mad hitting but my pitching’s kinda weak, tell me which one of these guys should I keep? Gausman or ERod or Honeywell or Wacha? I’m already keeping Gerrit Cole and Chris Archer. We keep 12 dudes on 12 teams in this K/9 league, plus Quality Starts, that’s the info that you need. Peace!

4:53

Big Paulie on the Mic: Can’t remember if I said that league is head to head! Hope you see this in time and dig my phat rhymes!

4:54

Paul Sporer: I’d go Wacha among that group. Have him close to Gaus, but in a coin flip, I’ll lean NL and better team

4:55

Larry Walker for HoF: I saw that you have Darvish and Severino back to back in your rankings this year, but in a head to head category keeper with no restrictions would you value Severino substantially higher?

4:55

Paul Sporer: No, I don’t think so. What would change to make him substantially better?

4:56

Tejada B12 Shot: I want to believe in Yelich…. Whats your prediction for his hr and sb

4:56

Paul Sporer: 24 HR/32 SB

4:56

JD: Now that ottoneu cut deadline is done, I need spring training to get going or at least turn the offseason stove from off to simmer

4:56

Paul Sporer: Right? I really thought January would be super-active. This is nuts.

4:57

Estevao: Thoughts on this top 10 3B list Tier 1, Bryant and Donaldson.

Tier 2, Turner, Machado, Arenado, Rendon and Ramirez.

Tier 3, Seager, Bregman and Beltre

4:58

Paul Sporer: Can’t see how Arenado isn’t tier 1. He’s a viable #1 overall 3B and easily tier 1

4:58

Word: Trade my $10 Andrus for $26 Machado? Already have T$9 Trea at SS… 12 tm $260 roto

4:59

Paul Sporer: Nah, I can’t see Machado being worth $16 more than Andrus even with the positional clog

5:01

Steve: OBP format. What’s the difference between Gallo and Hoskins?

5:02

Paul Sporer: Hoskins’ AVG advantage still comes through in OBP

5:03

Paul Sporer: OK y’all, I gotta get going! Thanks so much for hanging out! Follow me on Twitter (@sporer), Snapchat (psporer), and Twitch (psporer24). I’ll be back next week to discuss the 0 signings that will happen!

“Robleses (Roblii?)”
In Latin, it would actually be Roblēs (long e).
