While the NFBC Main Event garners most of the attention, there are a handful of leagues with even a larger entry fee ($2.5K to $15K). They were originally named “High Stakes Leagues” and there are ten of them. With so much money on the line, these fantasy managers try to gain any advantage. Most of the time, these managers will be a week or two ahead of everyone else on their adds. Here are the players and some information on the ones added in five or more leagues.

As we approach the All-Star break, we’re due for another big update on the SP rankings. Sorry for not getting one out in June, but you can see my Daily SP Charts for regular commentary on pitchers so at least it’s not completely dark in between these updates. The $ is the earned auction value so far this year. Those with – in their Change column means they weren’t ranked last month due to injury or simply not being in the MLB rotation.

Don’t forget that these are primarily focused on the next 3-4 weeks. They can give you some guidance on “rest of season” trades, but I’m not taking IP risk into heavy consideration with these rankings because most of those guys facing a limit won’t be altered much in July. Moves due to volume concerns will start more in the post-Trade Deadline update.

July 1st, 10:00 pm CT — I memory-holed the big injuries from last wk apparently, so I had to remove several guys who got hurt (Lodolo, Woo, Turnbull, Assad, Mize; plus Megill getting sent to AAA) and from there I ended up doing a decently large sweep so there was a good bit of movement from the original post. No one shifted multiple tiers or anything, but some real moves for sure.
The updated rankings are done! They will be live Monday. Sorry for the delay that led to no official June update. I’ll update again after the Trade Deadline.
We also have our shortest slate of the season so far with just 3 games, too, so I decided to put the 2-start chart here instead of splitting the posts. I usually split if the Monday chart is taking a while and I need to get to bed, but obviously a 6-man board doesn’t take much time. Start Gore & Brown, maaaaybe consider Peterson in some spots and stay away from the other 3! That said, I will still give you the chart with the info so you can make you own decisions. Maybe you’re hoping for a cheap win from Wilson in Coors since Milwaukee is so good. I have an unreasonable soft spot for him and even I’m not really giving him any consideration.
Speaking of the 2-start board, sorry for no podcast talking through the group with Justin on a Friday pod. He was a bit under the weather and I had the Fireside Chat podcast ready to share with y’all anyway so it was an easy fill-in instead of posting it on Saturday.
The top 10 are all ranked in the Top 55 of the upcoming rankings, but then just one other in the Top 75 so it’s kind of a studs and duds week. There are some streamable candidates including my boy Wesneski. I was big on him last year and unfortunately he blew up in our faces as the HRs were just too much (2.0 HR9). They aren’t gone (1.6), but I like the 15% K-BB rate. Philly is scary, the Angels are not.
Soriano is slated to return on Tuesday and would set up for a pair. Hopefully the abdomen infection is cleared up and he’s ready to pick up where he left off. He’s been one of the better waiver pickups this season.

In the article, I cover the players using CBS’s (about 40% or less initial roster rate) and Yahoo’s ADD/DROP rates. Both hosting sites have the option for daily and weekly waiver wire adds. CBS uses a weekly change while Yahoo looks at the last 24 hours. Yahoo is a great snapshot of right now while CBS ensures hot targets from early in the week aren’t missed. The whole 1-x group lost an x on matchup alone. Berríos and Monty are at least home, but Gray and Rogers get their tough matchups on the road. I really don’t mind skipping any of those. Just be careful! Wacha escaped that group by being hot right now. His 2.87 ERA and 0.86 WHIP are definitely the best of that group over the last month: Rogers 3.03, Berríos 4.17, Gray 6.28, Monty 6.59. Wacha also has an 18% K-BB rate in that time and Gray is only other one to top 10%.
