Week 14 FAAB Projections

I thought it was going to be a slow week for bidding, but a few pitchers have seen their ownership jump quite a bit. Also, there is some movement with a couple of closers going down with injuries.

The projection guidelines:

  • The ownership rates are from CBS since they have some quickdraw waiver wire leagues where players can be picked up at any time.
  • The FAAB estimates are based on the 2018 15-team mixed NFBC leagues which used a $1000 FAAB budget. Owners are going to need to convert these values to their own league.
  • The ownership values were taken from Saturday and lots can happen in between when they publish and FAAB bids run.
  • Only players owned in 50% or fewer of CBS leagues are examined.

  • The top two bids, Oscar Mercado and Lourdes Gurriel Jr., should have been owned for weeks in all 12-team or deeper leagues.
  • Carson Kelly has been on fire hitting .302/.404/.604 since May 1st. He’s easily a top-12 catcher.
  • Kevin Newman continues to leadoff for the Pirates while hitting .313/.365/.434 with four steals.
  • Tyler White has heated up hitting .255/.418/.431 in June.
  • For a dart throw, take a shot on the Indians Boddy Bradley. He’s destroying AAA with a .997 OPS and 24 homers and the Indians just promoted him to the majors.

  • Jordan Yamamoto has not allowed a run over two starts but his ERA estimators point to ERA over 4.00. While he’s worth taking a shot on, I’d not pay the near $100 price tag. His ownership is at 61% which is more than Tyler Skaggs (58%). I’d easily roster Skaggs.
  • Zac Gallen has finally made his debut and it went well with him allowing one run over five innings of work. It’ll be interesting to see if he stays up.
  • Adam Plutko has possibly two starts and may allow double-digit home runs.
  • Adbert Alzolay is the one pitcher I’ll be prioritizing this week. His price and talent are the best combination of the recently promoted starters.

Up until two weeks ago, this FAAB Projections report was coming out on Saturday afternoons, and now it seems to be coming out Sunday mornings. Any chance it will go back to Saturdays? (Our league runs its weekly FAAB on Saturday night,)
