Welcome to our fourth annual live pod during the LABR Mixed draft. This isn’t structured like our normal shows so there aren’t time tags for specific things and there are some lulls of silence (or typing) as we do research and/or update our lists. We also listened in on the SiriusXM show of the draft at times, too, and include our call with them to discuss the first portion of our draft.

LOL, because we know preseason projections of a draft are worth sooooo much
Well if they’re not worth much, why all the strategizing before the draft? Just throw darts at the board. Come to think of it, that’s probably an idea you guys should try given your success rate in the mixed LABR.
How is strategizing for a draft the same as preseason projection standings? These are brutal takes, my guy. You’re free to dislike our team, but at least aim to make *some* sense! 😉
What are you strategizing about Paulie, opening day weather forecasts? The projections are based on what, nothing? Rotographs, at it’s essence is about player projections, what one can expect stats-wise from players, is it not?. The team you drafted projects out poorly. the only guy not making sense is you, my guy.
How do you quantify good pick/bad pick if not on projections?
We can all draft the perfect team in retrospect.
We draft based on projections. Projections surely will differ depending on who you ask but some tend to me more reliable than others.
Based on one of the more reliable projection sites your team looks lousy.
Which is nothing new for you two guys.
I honestly can’t tell you how little I care about preseason projected standings. Few things more useless in all of fantasy. Run back over to your little Geocities site and circle-jerk over there about winning the draft!
Preseason projected standings are based solely on the up coming season projections for the players you drafted, you don’t care about that?
So in turn, according to you, player projections are “useless” for fantasy purposes.

Correct, I don’t care about the preseason projected standings from a one off source. What are you failing to get? I’m being straightforward.
I see how you’re trying to make it some big deal, but we don’t sell projections. I don’t consistently push them as an end-all, be-all. I respect the work ppl put into their systems, but I take nothing from the projected standings after a draft. (They were so good last year!)

If we put together the team based on a particular source’s projections and still projected to finish low, that might be more alarming. But ya, I stand firm that I don’t care about preseason projected standings at all. Hopefully it’s clicked with you this time, I’ve been very clear and even repeated it!
If one follows your logic, one can never draft a good or bad team because it just doesn’t matter! Actually there would be no such thing as a good or bad team because there is no way to quantify good or bad using your logic. Which is of course as we all know, ridiculous.
Anyway this reasoning by you will be a big relief for all those that come to sites like Rotographs to prepare for their drafts by getting your fantasy advice (namely projections). It just doesn’t matter!
You got the first pick and you take Braun, good job, doesn”t matter, Trout is only projected for the best stats and as you tell us, that’s useless.

I’ve made nothing but cogent points and in response you’ve offered nothing but shockingly ridiculous arguments that try and refute everyone’s basic understanding of how to draft a winning fantasy team.
You could have just said I think the projections are wrong you argued something entirely different, that being, they don’t matter.
Everyone’s basic understanding of winning fantasy is to care about what a single source’s projections say after said draft? Ya, that’s not true at all. You don’t like our draft and think we suck at fantasy baseball. You’re entitled to that. A single projection system slotting us low doesn’t prove you right or really mean anything at all.
You’re a dense guy. I offered up the Razzball projection as an illustration as to why I thought you drafted a bad team, Certainly wasn’t the only reason,

Hey, just got to the Judge/Goldy picks… was wondering what would have happened if Altuve was still on board? Was surprised to see him that late anyways, but certainly would have shaken up some ideas. Maybe Altuve/Goldy to studify the most shallow positions?
