The Deep Dynasty ADP Project

Why does redraft get all the nice things like a helpful Average Draft Position (ADP) to indicate the most auspicious time to target a specific player?

To my knowledge, ADP basically doesn’t exist for deep dynasty formats – and probably for a good reason. Deep dynasty is a snowflake ecosystem. Every league has its own unique nooks and crannies. They’re conducted on a variety of different fantasy platforms with offline components. More to the point, there probably aren’t very many first year drafts. Most dynasty leagues have been rolling for years.

However, with FanTrax gaining an increasing market share of dynasty leagues, we now have the foundation to build ADP. I just need a little help from the community. Specifically, I need the draft results file for your league. It can be found under the “Other” tab. If publicly viewable, the link is sufficient. If your league is private, please download the spreadsheet (button towards the top right of the results) and forward it to me at pitchin432 AT yahoo.com.

Not any ol’ league is eligible. I’m only looking for fresh dynasty drafts. I’d like to focus on formats of 20 or more teams and 30 or more rounds. Fewer teams is ok so long as there are over 600 players picked. It’s ok if you include dummy picks for players outside of the system – I’ll have a warning for that. My patron league, DTBNL, used Tuffy Gosewisch and Brad Ziegler in this way. However, if your rules greatly influence player value, please explain them to me. I’ll decide if I can include them in the overall ADP.

Presently, I have my 25-team DTBNL and Justin Mason’s 30-team FWFB. Once I add a couple more, I’ll publish an initial ADP.

You’re going to have an immediate dichotomy between salary cap and non-cap leagues. Perhaps make two ADP lists. Also, many leagues run their initial draft through a message board rather than fantrax. Good idea though!
