John: Alexis Diaz has been shaky (at best) since midway through last season. If we’re speculating for Reds’ saves, is it Cruz, Pagan, or Sims?

Jeff Zimmerman: I’d stay away even if he does struggle. I’d hope they would trade for some bullpen help.

nfbc12s: % FAAB for Turang?

Jeff Zimmerman: 5% or more to win him people are going to come after those stolen bases

FAAB Time: How much is too much FAAB to spend on Foley and Uribe if you need saves help?

Jeff Zimmerman: Foley’s going to cost a ton … 20% in places since he might have the job for the whole season. With Payamps getting the Save today, Uribe’s cost took a huge hit. I’d maybe go $20

Matt: Is there anything there with Brice Turang? Need steals and wondering if I should drop McNeil for him at MI. Any chance he hits enough to be worth an add?

Jeff Zimmerman: He might get platooned but if he has 500 PA and 40+ SB, that’ll be huge. What is McNeill going to give but a fight.

Jimmy: Any thoughts on a CI replacement for Royce Lewis that has a low roster rate?

Jeff Zimmerman: Tyler Freeman, JD Davis, Triodo (sp?) from PIT

wes: You see any reason to move off of flawed, maybe-saves drafted guys (Scott, LeClerc, Harvey) to flawed, maybe-saves, addable guys (Foley/Miller, Slaten/Martin, Lawrence?) after 3 days? Or need more data?

Jeff Zimmerman: Yes. I’d get the guys who you think are the closer. Now, don’t spend a ton to get them, just put in a small upgrade bid.

Mookie: Rather Jared jones over michael ling or bryce miller?

Jeff Zimmerman: Damn those are close

Jeff Zimmerman: I’d stream for min cost for matchups. If you only have a $100 budget and no $0 bids, just sit.

#9 Hitters: Looking for OF help in AL OBP league. Could you rank (or pick from) Jake Meyers, Kyle Isbel, and Lawrence Butler?

Did someone Pfaadt?: You think Jared Jones is worth using a high waiver position on, when I could grab Littell without giving up the waiver spot? I might be gun-shy on using my waiver position on a rookie pitcher after getting burned by Pfaadt last year. Thanks for your thoughts.

Jeff Zimmerman: I’d use it on Jones. He’s likely one of the top adds for the season. Might as well get him early on

Pete: Is Royce Lewis a drop?

Jeff Zimmerman: Not yet, it feels like all the news isn’t out on him. Hold one more week and then evaluated next week. 5th round talents don’t show up on the wire

Ryan: Thoughts on Gill or Silseth for both streaming tm and long term?

Jeff Zimmerman: Both seem fine so far as options. I like to see guys get three starts before drawing too many conclusions.

Jeff Zimmerman: I ran into this issue on a team I drafted early and their is no one out there. The three names that seem to be available are Perdomo, Ahmed, and BLAZE Alexander

Jeff Zimmerman: Definitely, I think Robertson is one of the biggest late movers.

Jon: Do you think the crop of addable RPs from column is in same pool or step below shaky drafted types like Leclerc, Scott, Harvey?

Jeff Zimmerman: Get your Saves now when there are possible options. Move to steady guys later.

One: Start two in a SPARP league: king, pepiot, crochet. Last two seem to have two scary starts and king was meh today

Jeff Zimmerman: Middle of the pack up after doing some research after the article, I did find out he has a great week coming up.

Key Lime: 14 team mixed h2h. Got Julien, Colt Keith for 2B. should I look to upgrade or will one of these 2 players prove sufficient?

Jeff Zimmerman: You should always be trying to upgrade and those two are … bleh.

Soriano/Blanco: Soriano or Blanco for a AL only H2H…..looking for a RP/SP for a team punting saves. Soriano looks filthy and some of the Angels starters do not.  Blanco looked great this spring for Houston.

Jeff Zimmerman: Blanco this week to see how he performs. If good, nice grab, if not dump him. I suspect Soriano will remain on the wire

Tim: Welcome back Jeff.  Did Singer move the needle today?

Jeff Zimmerman: Some. The issue with him is that he’s close to being universally rostered.

Jeff Zimmerman: His managers aren’t dumping him after that start

Guest: Conforto and David Robertson… worth adds?

Jeff Zimmerman: Again, depends on who you are placing them with.

Bomo: I just finished reading FantasyLand, and outside of hiring Sig Mejdal my biggest takeaway was a comment by Mejdal that a bad 2 start starter is still more valuable than a mid or fair 1 start starter, Does this math still hold up 20 years later? What would you qualify as mid to fair starter in a 10 team league?

Jeff Zimmerman: We looked at it in the process and it holds up … sort of.

Jeff Zimmerman: In points leagues, it for sure work.

Jeff Zimmerman: In Roto, the ERA and WHIP hits for the start aren’t that much but when they accumulate over a full season, the ratio categories get destroyed.

That guy in Vegas: Where are you on Joe Boyle?

Jeff Zimmerman: Happy to miss out. Too many red flags.

Guest: When will James wood and caminario coming up ?

Jeff Zimmerman: How would I know … no one else does. And if they say so, they are lying.

FAAB Time: What % you willing to spend on Ginkel since he is closing with Sewald out?

Jeff Zimmerman: Your looking around 6 to 10%. About half of what a full-time closer would go for

Mike: Start Crotchet in 2 start week where one is Atlanta (awful) and the other is KC (good)?

Jeff Zimmerman: Probably, he could be good against ATL

Chris: Who comes back first, Beuhler, Cole, Bradish, Woo, Gavin Williams, or Senga?

Jeff Zimmerman: Cobb and Bradish. Romano. Get the guys coming back first and then worry about guys further away

Bench Flexibility: Looking to minimize bench allocations to hitters. Currently using Kirk, Nootbaar and L Wade. Nootbaar will likely move Frelick to bench upon return.

Jeff Zimmerman: In The Process this past year. I found that winning teams have   starters at 50% to 75% of their bench.

Guest: How long are you holding onto guys like Sewald and Cole for in weekly faab leagues

Jeff Zimmerman: I would have probably dropped Cole if the league doesn’t have an IL spot.

A.: Is rengifo a drop in a mixed 12?

Jeff Zimmerman: Yes.

Jeff Zimmerman: And here is some free advice, feel free to drop Tommy Pham. I noticed he was 93% rostered in one league I’m in.

Take M’Haul: Grab Taj now and stash when he’s cheap or spend big on J.Jones?

Jeff Zimmerman: I’d spend on Jones

That guy in Vegas: Luis Robert is a top 10 overall player. Come at me, Bruh!

Jeff Zimmerman: When healthy … but he still plays second fiddle to Gavin Sheets.

8-teamer: I unfortunately find myself in an 8-team league (points, H2H, 25 man rosters) after two managers dropped out just before our draft tomorrow night. Any advice for weekly FAAB bidding (we have $0 bids, so maybe be aggressive early?) or draft strategy in such a shallow format? Thanks, Jeff.

Jeff Zimmerman: I’d steam the crap out of two outfield spots and the Util. And probably 2-3 pitchers. Divide the FAAB so you can make it the full season and just churn your roster and win the week.

Guest: Lost Murphy in a 2-C league, what % do I bid on D’Arnaud?

Jeff Zimmerman: You might need to push to 2%. I could see some of the other managers trying to upgrade their catchers with TAD

Guest: Why the big bids on Gallegos? Helsley in trouble already?

Jeff Zimmerman: Not sure, possibly the Save Gallegos got.

Chester Copperpot: Detmers always has had the K potential. Strong spring. Is this the year or just watchlist for now?

Jeff Zimmerman: Pay for the K’s and hope there is more … just don’t pay for more

Jeff Zimmerman: you are correct. I see none as long-term options and would go weekly with the best option.

Mike: Was that 20-30% range you referenced in your article on Victor Scott for 15 teamers or do you think we need to go that high in 12s too if we came out of the draft short on speed?

Jeff Zimmerman: He could go higher. I can’t give away content behind a pay wall but just say others agree with my take on the costs. In the NFBC, I suspect to see some $400+ bids.

Waiver Bats: 12t h2h pts, anyone you especially like out of India, Meadows, Maikel, O’Neill, Eugenio, Kelenic for ros?

Jeff Zimmerman: Meadows and Garcia. Suarez has a trip to COL coming up.

Jeff: Where is Siri on the batters list?

Jeff Zimmerman: Roster rate was probably too high.

yinyang: How much do you believe M.Chapman will bounce back this season? He’s available in my 12-team H2H categories (OBP) league.

Jeff Zimmerman: I’m not sold on this year has much as next. I don’t assume he’s healthy until he shows it.

MSB: If bidding on VS2 is too rich for your blood, is Caballero one of your first pivots?

Jeff Zimmerman: Cab is a great pivot, if available. He’s not an option in any of my leagues because he was a late-round target of mine.

Keeper league play: I’m surprised everyone is so done with Manoah. Worth holding in a keeper to see if he regains form?  I’d be dropping a bench bat for him like Fraley, 10 team league.

Jeff Zimmerman: I’m done until he shows something. I’d rather have Matz who went 5 IP vs the LAD while only allowing 2 ER. So many more options to gamble on while Manoah is hurt

Projection systemss: Do all of the projection systems here at FG get routinely updated throughout the season? If not, is there one you prefer for in-season decision making?

Jeff Zimmerman: The projections (update or a U) get updated.
