Cito’s Mustache: What’s the pecking order for the Rangers OF/DH situation when Pence returns? I have Calhoun in a weekly league and hoping he gets playing time over DDS and Mazara.

Jeff Zimmerman: This is a mess. It’s a mess w/o Pence. Any information I’d give you would be me making stuff up. Just read what you can and hope for the best.

TradingTatis: Would you trade Tatis for Yates?  10 tm mixed std cats and I am leading steals by 15 steals.  Do you think Yates gets traded at the deadline?  Thx

Jeff Zimmerman: I would if ahead and I think there is over a 50% chance of Yates getting traded but he could still close (see Atl.)

Bartolo: I’ve been hanging onto Deshields in AL-Only because I could use the speed, but his playing time seems perilous with Pence returning.  Would you drop for either Barreto or Wendle?

Jeff Zimmerman: I’d hold for this week to see who plays CF. Wendle can’t hit himself out of a wet paper bag and Barreto is in the same playing time issue as DDS

Rocco: Why is Mookie Betts underperforming so much?  He’s only 26.  Any thoughts?

Jeff Zimmerman: I think he’s hurt but still doing OK.  I like the ASG to see who sits out and might need to heal

Rocco: would you start McKay vs NYY this week?

Jeff Zimmerman: It comes down to the other options. In Tout Wars I have to use him as any player rostered must stay in the lineup for the whole week.

Chixie Dix: Sorry about the long first question!

If I make Alonso available, what kind of SP(s) should I look for in return? My current staff is UNDERperforming (Syndergaard, Nola, Berrios, Flaherty, Fried, McKay, J. Gray, Gallen, and Hill on DL). 8 pitching categories (W, L, S, Holds, ERA, WHIP, Ks, K/BB)

Or do I hope for better in the 2nd half?

Jeff Zimmerman: Maybe Greinke or Morton type.  Alonso is basically Crush Davis so around a 5 or 6 round pick.

Jeff Zimmerman: One good source for mid-season values is the NFBC Memorial day drafts. They should give you a good idea of how others view a player’s talent

Al Gone Quinn: Just snapped up Garrett Cooper and Dominic Smith. Are there more OF’ers emerging this year or is it just the juiced ball making any and every one look good? Also, OF seemed like a thin position going into the season so perhaps it was just a matter of time for new guys to emerge.

Jeff Zimmerman: I think teams are just using a ton of OF platoons and the combination of talent and playing time is getting hard to find

Sean: Someone dropped Votto.  Is he an obvious pickup anymore?

Jeff Zimmerman: Probably some team could use him. Probably one hurting in AVG. I could see several situations where if I hit late on other 1B (e.g. Santana and Alonso), I’d drop Votto

BigTuna: Is Eric Lauer worth an add in 12tm? I believe he gets the Giants this week

Jeff Zimmerman: He’s probably worth streaming

Schilling and Pence: Think the Red Sox start concentrating saves to Workman?  Everyone else has been brutal.

Jeff Zimmerman: I think they’ll trade for someone(s)

Mark: Do you Gallen staying up the rest of year? Would you cut e-rod for him

Jeff Zimmerman: If given a choice, I’d stick with E-rod. Similar talents and Red Sox >>>> Marlins

BigTuna: Barnes droppable in a 12 tm now? He’s just been brutal this month

Jeff Zimmerman: Probably. I’m benching in my 15’s

Jeff Zimmerman: Drop for JMart. Martinez was playing quite a bit before Ozuna got hurt

Tortuga Torture: Hi Jeff. Al Only, OBP league. Better IL pick-up for Tortuga: Zach Collins or Beau Taylor? The former has pedigree but not a lot to show for it.

Jeff Zimmerman: Stick with Collins for now but keep watching the wire

BigTuna: Who is your preferred streaming SP in a 12 tm next week? Was gonna drop Miley bc he pitches in Coors and was thinking of adding Milone.

Jeff Zimmerman: I’m a little deeper and was eyeing Thorton and Richards. Not the most talented (the reason they are on the WW) but good matchups.

Saves and Not Saves: Hi Jeff. AL Only. Getting a little tired of Blake Parker (and Jose Leclerc, for that matter). Should I cut for a spec (with better ratios) like Austin Adams, or just ride it out? Thanks!

Jeff Zimmerman: I’d move from Parker. Martin from Texas might be a better pickup. He seems to get a Save every other week which is huge in AL-only

Jeff Zimmerman: Maybe eventually. I don’t like giving a pitcher the Ace label until they’ve been an ace for a whole seem. Few pitchers can stay healthy and productive for a whole season.

Copperjohn: Picked up Cease with a “keep em honest” $17 bid ($1,000 FAAB) in a 15 team mixed tonight . Figured despite my concerns with his command I could take advantage of projected Detroit start. What is your take on him?

Jeff Zimmerman: I think it’s fine. With his pedigree, he has to be owned everywhere and see what happens.

Ron Swoboda: Doesn’t everyone need off the Mets?

Alec: Looking to speculatively add a hitter with OBP and power skills in a deep AL-only league. Thoughts on picking up Justin Bour, Rowdy Tellez, or Mitch Moreland?

Jeff Zimmerman: I’d take Tellez based on playing time

Kuff6: Dom Smith or Jose Mart ROS (obp instead of avg)?

Jeff Zimmerman: Dont’ know ROS but I like Jose Mart for a month and it’s tough to plan any more than 2 weeks out.

Bang Ludwig: If most of your fantasy teams pitchers have bad matchups do you bench them and play for ratios or start everyone and play for cumulative stats?

Jeff Zimmerman: Comes down to the standings, especially now. I have one league where I lucked into 4 closers and winning Saves and almost in ERA and WHIP. I throw out every 2-week starter I can. In others, I’m not so brash.

Cigar City: if you could roster 2, in a 14-team mixed points league: Cease, Lamet, Puk

Jeff Zimmerman: Cease and Lamet. They’ll be in the majors first.

Bullpen: Any interest in stashing David Robertson in a 12 tm if I have a DL spot? He’s starting to throw again

Jeff Zimmerman: You might have better DL options.

Jeff Zimmerman: So no.

Jeff Zimmerman: Yes. He’ll be tough to bring. The Dodgers are going to want their SP’s trusting the C’s. IMO, Martin is gone next year and Smith has the role

Jeff Zimmerman: I don’t know right now but McKay was already dominant. Will Luzardo do more?

PJ: All the focus is on McKay as pitcher. Is his batter worth picking up? Could he be a low rent ohtani?

Jeff Zimmerman: No, not now. I’m thinking maybe 1 or 2 PH at bats a week. I think he’d hit more in the NL.

Hobbs: Is Jesus Aguilar done?  16 team very deep league and honestly I would rather pick up a prospect at this point.  He may or may not be good anymore but he isn’t even getting opportunities.

Jeff Zimmerman: I think it is Mazara. Maybe you could try for a 2:1 trade where you get a small OF upgrade.

Jeff Zimmerman: I think both would be fine. I’d drop Eaton because I think he’s an A-Hole
