Zach: What kind of claim (%) is it gonna cost to get Kwan? And is he worth it? 12 team h2h OBP with 5 of spots.

Jeff Zimmerman: I’ve been trying to come up with a comp and the best is Jeff McNeil. AVG and some power. In a 12-teamer, McNeil might cost 3% to 5% to roster.

Jake: how are you playign the Mariners, Reds and Twins bullpens?

Jeff Zimmerman: I’m not

Jeff Zimmerman: I’d find the guys used in the highest leverage situation and hope to end the season with 8 Wins and 12 Saves from them.

Cashflow: Is Tyler Megill for real? What other “under the radar” pitchers have caught your attention in the first few games?

Chuck: Best pickup for potential saves?  Jorge Lopez, Jorge Alcala, or Domingo Acevedo?

Mike Honcho: Any starters this week that you would drop A.Ashby to roster?

Jeff Zimmerman: Not a ton of streamers I like this week. It’s tough to get a read on the 4th and 5th guys. I do like Wright over Ashby

Rookie stashes: I have a couple if minor leaguers I’m currently rostering – MJ Melendez, and Vidal Brujan.  With the big uptick of rookies up so early this year, do you think either of these two could contribute in 2022?

Jeff Zimmerman: You need to find spots for them on the MLB rosters. Right now, neither one has one.

Twin Cities: Do you think I’ll be ok with Ober & Joe Ryan combo on my SP staff?

Jeff Zimmerman: Sure. Unless there is a major skills decline (see Nick Pivetta and his fastball down 2 mph), I’m holding for at least 4 starts

Guardian: I’m loving my guy Straw, but I’m tempted for Harrison Bader out on the waiver wire – what say you?

Jeff Zimmerman: Straw is tradable but Bader should be rostered.

chewbacca: Do you like Cobb (and Giants magic) or Megill more in a k/9 league?

The Kraken: Thoughts on Kelenic in 2022?  I’m hoping the learning curve year helped, but what do you think for his production in fantasy for this season?

Jeff Zimmerman: In over 30 leagues, I didn’t roster him once. I just don’t think he can hit major league pitching. I’m willing to be wrong.

Alex: Will G.Whitlock get a chance to save games, or is it Barnes only in Beantown??

Jeff Zimmerman: Barnes for now

Arrrgghhh: I grabbed Stratton on the cheap as a bench spot.  Will he get some save opps, or is Bednar and nobody else?

Jeff Zimmerman: They are supposed to split the dozen or so Saves the Pirates will get this season.

Montana: Wright, Ashby or Gibson…..need to drop one

Jeff Zimmerman: Ashby, but I’m not the Ashby person at all (another 0 for 34).

Tim: What % of FAAB would you go on Josh Lowe in a 12 tm league?

Jeff Zimmerman: It going to be nuts. I’m thinking 10% is the min with it going up to 50%

Jimmy: Zach Thompson or Carlos Hernandez?

Jeff Zimmerman: Thompson

Stack: Need a MI for my roto pool 6×6 QS and OPS are the additional stats. Who do you like most between Farmer, Abrams, Profar, Dejong, Arraez, and Mateo

Jeff Zimmerman: I’d take a shot on Abrams for the week. I think there is a good chance he’ll fail, but the upside is huge

Jeff Zimmerman: How in the hell am I supposed to know?

John: Is Daniel Bard the closer for the entire season?

Jeff Zimmerman: How often does a Rockies closer make it the whole year? Probably slim to none.

Guest: Should I worry about Blake Snell and Ian Anderson?

Jeff Zimmerman: Hell yes. I’ve never been a fan of either one (both members of the 0/34 club)

Just Dingers: Am I wrong to be a bit excited about Merrill Kelly? Looks like the strikeout uptick that started last year might be for real

Jeff Zimmerman: A little. The issue is that it is just the change getting good results. He needs a couple more average pitches.

Guest: How much does Swanson batting in the 8/9 spots worry you for his fantasy production?

Jeff Zimmerman: Quite a bit since he just won’t get the count stats. The deal is that there is not much to do now but trade him off to some sucker

jp: Tommy Pham should be rostered in a 10 team league?

Pointy: Need to replace Adell in a points league.  Dalbec or Kwan or Jesus Sanchez or other?

Phil: Conforto was dropped. Worth an add yet?

Jeff Zimmerman: I would not until there are any reports of him being healthy

Jeff Zimmerman: I watched the start and he had no swing-and-miss. I’d keep him on the wire

EH: Think Jordan Hicks will do anything as a starter? I worry he won’t throw many innings.

Jeff Zimmerman: Or get hurt right way. For me, he’s on the bench and I’ll evaluate after his start.

Pinerider: Brandon Marsh seems like a part time player, and I could use another SP. Would you drop him for Eflin, Flexen or Tucker Davidson? Or will Marsh blossom and change Maddon’s mind?

Jeff Zimmerman: Maddon said Marsh is in a platoon with Adell. Drop for Eflin

Steven Kwan is better than Babe Ruth: How soon until McKenzie Gore is up? You think the Snell injury will accelerate his timeline?

Jeff Zimmerman: The injury might speed it up, but otherwise, no idea

Jeff Zimmerman: After one bad weekend. It’ll take at least two weeks before there is a change

Brew Crew: Aaron Ashby was my sleeper RP this year in the hopes he eventually gets some run as SP.  What do you think?

Jeff Zimmerman: We’ll see. Maybe

OBP/S+H: High-upside gamble: Mateo over Stott?

Jeff Zimmerman: I can get behind that

San Diego Chicken: I was so mad when the Padres traded for Rogers just before the season.  I drafted Pierce Johnson as my dark horse saves guy.  Any chance he sees some play there, or is it all Rogers?

Jeff Zimmerman: The team has come out and said it’s Rogers. Move on.

Free ReyLo: Tony La Russa today said Reynaldo Lopez will stay in the bullpen until Joe Kelly returns. Does he have enough value as a reliever to wait this out or would you grab someone like K. Wright, Steele or M. Kelly?

Jeff Zimmerman: Don’t wait out for now, but Lopez will be useful (even out of the bullpen) once the good and bad starters have sorted things out.

Steve: Name a dark horse SP I can add, there’s practically no one left on the waiver wire but what do I know. For reference, 16 team keeper league

Jeff Zimmerman: Brad Keller?

Steven: Our 10 team league switched to FAAB for the first time this season ($1000 budget with $0 bids) and I think we’re all feeling out the cost for players. Most are going for $0-$5 but Connor Joe went for $28 last night, so it’s starting to get interesting. Any general tips for a FAAB league?

Jeff Zimmerman: Keep the bids under 5% until a trend is found, but don’t be afraid to do the 5% if the player is a major upgrade. Just a handful of those players come around during a season

Jeff Zimmerman: Yes

Funkadelic: Any “late round flier” types that people might have already given up on that you’d suggest snagging? For example, Kirilloff just became available in my 12 team, 2 keeper H2H cat league.

Jeff Zimmerman: What, yes add him.

Jeff Zimmerman: Most of the time, it’s not a universal drop but one-offs for a league. Always check the previous weeks drops

Guest: Do you like Lucas Sims and/or Tanner Rainey?

Jeff Zimmerman: No, it’s not even close

the catman: ARe there any advantages/disadvantages switching from $100 to $1000 budget?

Jeff Zimmerman: I think $100 is fine if there are $0 bids. If going to $1000, get rid of the $0 bids. The issue with $100 budget is that teams are limited to 100 moves during the season or 4 per week at only $1

Scott TINSTAAPP: How much do you tend to spend in weeks you identify as not big weeks (i.e. weeks without a major target or need)? $1000 FAAB NFBC context

Jeff Zimmerman: I tried to keep $20 per week for streaming during the year (~$500 total) and then the other half for improvements. If there is no one, I’ll go under the $20 and use it later.

Jeff Zimmerman: I’m kind of a stickler on the $20, but it comes in great over the last month since everyone needed to win can usually be added.

bcbcbc: Drop Keller for Detmer, K.Wright, or M.Kelly?

Jeff Zimmerman: Wright … maybe. I’d try to keep both

Guest: im chasing saves. Drop Wick for Robertson?  Drop Colome for Bard?

Jeff Zimmerman: Yes (but I prefer Givens) and yes

barry: do you like garver or ruiz more in an avg/ops roto league?

Jeff Zimmerman: I like Garver across the board since I don’t have to sit him when on the road.

Guest: Would you drop Jo Adell for Steven Kwan?

Jeff Zimmerman: yes

Kuff6: Worth dropping P Corbin or Nick Martinez for Kyle Wright?  Or is that premature?  Thanks!

Jeff Zimmerman: Here is one strategy point for weekly leagues. If the above person drops Corbin for Wright, they can add Corbin the next week (possibly at a higher cost). It at least keeps both pitchers in play.

art warren stan: do you really think art warren is just an “ok” reliever as you stated in your article

Jeff Zimmerman: A 28-year-old who has only thrown 26 MLB IP and had major walk issues throughout his career.

0/34: does Caratini cut into Navareaz time?

Jeff Zimmerman: Probably some, but Narvaez owns righties.

Jeff Zimmerman: Zero. The Royals have only developed one above-average starter since Dayton Moore arrived.

Christian: I’m in a 12 team NFBC league and need to add RPs and one UT. I’m considering dropping Michael Conforto, Patrick Corbin, Josiah Gray and/or Eric Lauer. Should I hang on to any of these guys?

Jeff Zimmerman: Drop Conforto

Jeff Zimmerman: Wong for speed. Segura is more balanced

Jeff Zimmerman: I’d go low (2%) because I don’t think he’s the closer

Jeff Zimmerman: Maybe. If I have more than enough closers early, I just run them out and get Saves while you can. The next week, you might not have any because of performance or injury. Get the league and then drop

Jeff Zimmerman: If you have several low-average guys, you need to get them off your team now. Most teams can only handle one of them

Jeff Zimmerman: Just roster good relievers and the Saves, Holds, and Wins will come, especially with the 10 inning ghost runner.
