Sunday Night Waiver Wire & FAAB Chat

7:30
Jeff Zimmerman: Welcome. Here are the bids from the two 15-team Tout Wars leagues

7:31
Jeff Zimmerman:

7:31
Quarantino Martinez: Any interest in Cal Quantrill, especially with Det this week? Him or Ober?

7:32
Jeff Zimmerman: He’s on some of my bid lists. Quantrill has a nice two-step the week after Detroit

7:32
Jeff Zimmerman: Now, Ober does have a two-step this week.

7:33
Lauren J.: Daulton Varsho is killing me in my H2H forever-keeper league. At this point, I’d rather punt the catcher position. Opposed to me grabbing Raleigh and hoping for a call-up?

7:34
Jeff Zimmerman: Sure. I think the right move is to bench Raleigh or Varsho and start a regular catcher.

7:34
Can the Canning: Getting a little fed up with Canning (the Angels defense is so awful for some reason). Where is he relative to Ober/Allard or a strong middle reliever like McHugh?

7:34
Jeff Zimmerman: Cobb is also getting killed by the Angels D

7:35
Jeff Zimmerman: I could see going with Ober (2 starts this week) and Allard with 2 the next week

7:35
A Close Chavis: Thanks as always for the WW article. One of my favorites every week. Didn’t see M. Chavis on the list. He’s hit some leadoff, but they also have Arroyo back some time next week. Where does he fall in your hitters to pickup list?

7:36
Jeff Zimmerman: I’m not that high on him. I think he’ll play for just a few more games.

7:36
Hawk: After today’s performance, would prioritize Kyle Muller or Zach Thompson in a dynasty points league?

7:36
Jeff Zimmerman: Both, Thompson. He’s done it for more games.

7:37
BrendanMcKayDylanWalsh: Tinkering with the back-end of my rotation. I’ve got Stripling, McClanahan and Sandoval rostered RN…dropping any of them for Zach Thompson or Alex Cobb? Thanks!

7:37
Jeff Zimmerman: Wow. I’d like to roster all of them

7:38
Jeff Zimmerman: I’d just so with the ones who have the best match up this week. None of them really stands out compared to the other four

7:38
Goodwin: Goodwin has been hitting well and high in the CWS lineup. Any interest?

7:39
Jeff Zimmerman: Yes, he seems very replacement level. I had/have put bids on him where I need an OF.

7:39
BaseballIsBack: Hiura or Schoop ROS?

7:39
Jeff Zimmerman: Schoop

7:40
Needing Steals: Is Jake Fraley cooling off to the point we should consider dropping him in 12 teamers? Available waiver wire options: Jorge Polanco, Kolten Wong, Myles Straw, Steven Duggar and Akil Baddoo – I need steals/AVG the most… and thanks for doing these chats!

7:41
Jeff Zimmerman: I’d be fine with the drop. Now, Baddoo and Duggar are in set platoons, so you need to check their opposing pitchers. Need to RH

7:41
Jeff Zimmerman: Straw has continued to play with Tucker back, so he is the choice not knowing the opponents.

7:42
Searching for Saves: Given what’s happened this weekend, how would you rank Bradley, Alvarado, Garrett, Brach, Cisnero, Soria in 15 team 5×5?

7:43
Jeff Zimmerman: Bradley, Alvarado, Garrett, Soria Brach, Cisnero. I could be 100% wrong

7:43
Eli: Rank for holding value if I’m looking for homers: Harold Ramirez, Max Kepler, Jesus Sanchez, Kirilloff

7:43
Jeff Zimmerman: Of this group, Sanchez

7:44
Drbn8r: Will Tanner Houck be useful soon for pitching starved rosters in 15 teasers?  Your waiver wire report on Sundays is invaluable.

7:44
Jeff Zimmerman: If Houck is being called up, I like him as an add-and-see

7:45
Jeff Zimmerman: He’s been decent in his short time up

7:45
Happless: Happ has started 1 game in the past week. Is he on his way to AAA?

7:46
Jeff Zimmerman: He needs to be on the way to everyone’s waiver wire.

7:46
Tones: Would you drop Taillon or Alzolay for Keuchel or Zach Thompson (also is Thompson real!?)?

7:47
Jeff Zimmerman: I ranked Thompson pretty high in my Waiver Wire article and think he could be a difference maker

7:48
Jeff Zimmerman: I’d drop Taillon for Thompson. That said, someone may want Taillon in a trade

7:48
Robert L: When Nimmo/JD Davis come off IL would you drop Avisail Garcia for one of them in obp league ?

7:48
Jeff Zimmerman: No, they could struggle on their return.

7:48
El Duque: Keep riding out Soler or drop him for Hiura?

7:49
Jeff Zimmerman: Do you hate batting average? What did it do to you?

7:49
Jeff Zimmerman: Hiura is an add-and-bench

7:49
Guest: Muller worth a $50 bid?

7:50
Jeff Zimmerman: No, but Sunday inflation is real. The minor league walks scare me a bit.

7:50
Jeff: 5×5 NL only…Any of these young arms worthy of attention? SP Tony Santillan, Kyle Muller, Max Kranick, Tylor Megill, RP Mason Thompson, JB Bukauskas. My Lamet/T Antone/T Davidson all just went IL. I hate sore arm pitchers, it rarely ends well, so I’m looking for replacements…

7:51
Jeff Zimmerman: I’d add Muller and Megill and see how their next starts go

7:51
Crispy: Would you drop one of these guys for Allard:  Alzolay, Taillon, Gonsolin. Last 2 showed signs of life recently it seems

7:51
Jeff Zimmerman: No, but it’s close.

7:51
Guy: How much % would you bid on Joey Gallo in NFBC if he were dropped?

7:52
Jeff Zimmerman: If I really needed power, 30% to 50%. He he was just another bat, 15%

7:52
Ted: The news seems to be good for Tyler Glasnow but is it time to move him in a keeper league given the probability of TJS?

7:53
Jeff Zimmerman: Proably. If he has the surgery, move on.

7:53
Final Pitcher: Hi, I have 88 of 200 dollars left. 15 Team points OBP W/QS Innings… final Thompson question how much am I spending? People have bid anywhere from 10 to 25 on high prospects or stream for 2 to 4.  Where are you valuing him. If he fails, Bailey Ober, Flexen, or Allard. Ober hurts in a W/QS inning league I think. Do any of these players like Ober or Thompson have keeper potential (assume they cost 10 of 200). Also, should I grab roster both and drop like Lourdes Gurriel.

7:55
Jeff Zimmerman: I’m not sure on Flexen or Allard’s long term value. The other two might not have any in a week, but they are interesting. I’d go 10% on both

7:56
Norm Yost: Im in position to be able to stash multiple potential post deadline closers who are the top 3 arms you would look to add now when the price is only $1

7:58
Jeff Zimmerman: I’m looking over articles like these to see who the inside people like to get traded.

7:58
Jeff Zimmerman: The MLBTR article is about 50% right this early.

7:58
Jeff Zimmerman: When they run the next one, it’s more accurate

7:58
Dave: Daz, Ward, or Wade for an outfield add?

7:59
Jeff Zimmerman: Daz, especially if you need speed

7:59
Mike: Would you drop Hampson with his lack of production/playing time?

7:59
Jeff Zimmerman: Yes.

7:59
Jwolfteich: Drop Duvall for m.straw. 12 team points

8:00
Jeff Zimmerman: Depends on your needs

8:00
Thanks: Thanks for doing this every week, Jeff.

8:00
Jeff Zimmerman: You’re welcome

8:01
CC: have to drop one of christian walker or keston kiura in a deeper daily moves OBP/SLG league – the one I keep would be bench bat playing a few times a week. Who are you letting go?

8:01
Jeff Zimmerman: Hiura, but I’m likely the lowest person on Hiura’s value.

8:01
Guest: Park and Oliveres are leading their respective AAA leagues. Worth stashing?

8:02
Jeff Zimmerman: I think so in keeper leagues, but not in 2021 re-draft

8:02
Bobross: Picked up Jarren Duran trying to get the jump.  Now thinking premature. Should I drop him for Kelenic?

8:02
Jeff Zimmerman: I would, I think Kelenic might get a call after the ASG

8:03
Avg at best: L.Arraez is back. Is he a better option in a 12 teamer than waiting around for rebounds from V.Robles, I.Happ, C.Moran.

8:03
Jeff Zimmerman: Hell yes, Robles is the only one I’d pause for.

8:03
KCBbq: Would you drop Rengifo for any of the following in a 12 team AL only H2H 5×5 keeper league: Trammell, Gosselin, Torrens, Eli White, Zach Collins? How much FAAB using $100 FAAB. I have $22 left

8:04
Jeff Zimmerman: If you could use a catcher, Torrens. He’s been on fire since being recalled but I’d spend just the min amount

8:04
Porcho Villa: Alzolay droppable in a 12-teamer after tonight’s blow up?

8:04
Jeff Zimmerman: I would not

8:05
Porcho Villa: Who do you like better for a one week streamer—Daz Cameron, Steve Duggar, or B. Rodgers? Leaning Rodgers for 7 at Coors vs. weak pitching

8:05
Jeff Zimmerman: Add any Rockie starter. They are going to light up the Cards on the weekend.

8:05
Pitcher: Caleb Smith is a potential two start guy this week. Feelings on him? I remember some terrible H/A splits in Miami.

8:06
Jeff Zimmerman: I may end up using him. He’s in some of my bid groups. It’s not the week’s worst two-starts.

8:07
Happy Days: Is it cool to cut Ian Happ even though he is 100% owned in my 15tm league?  would rather roll the dice on one of these young pitchers and go with a shallower bench.

8:08
Jeff Zimmerman: It’s time to cut. The 100% number makes it hard in 15’s. One rule I use in them, is to see if the player is being dropped in 12’s.

8:09
Jeff Zimmerman: He’s 87% owned in 12’s

8:09
Kuff6: Can’t believe I let you talk me out of Z Thompson during last week’s chat (you dismissed him as a “3 IP starter.”  I guess I should have kept in mind that when you’re right 51% of the time, you’re wrong 49

8:10
Jeff Zimmerman: My bad

8:10
KCBbq: In reference to your Torrens rec: Don’t necessarily need a catcher as I have Jeffers so would you drop Rengifo for Trammell (wonder if he is odd man out when Kelenic gets recalled or bought himself more time after today), Gosselin, Eli White or Zach Collins…..or sit this week out and wait to see if anyone gets traded from the NL (Eduardo Escobar?)? I only have $22 of 100 FAAB left.

8:10
Jeff Zimmerman: I might just sit tight

8:10
Bryan: OBP league – I was offered Schwarber for Eflin. I have O’Niell, Winker and Reyes. Do I take the trade? I am fairly deep at SP

8:11
Jeff Zimmerman: The trade is fair, it really comes down to team needs

8:11
Matan: Is Kirilloff worth a pick up? Concerned about playing time. Thanks for doing this every weekend!

8:11
Jeff Zimmerman: You’re welcome

8:12
Jeff Zimmerman: Kiriloff was playing a decent amount. I’d hold

8:12
Biff: Rank these OF on ability to impact fantasy playoffs…Kelenic, Kiriloff, Adell, Duran…

8:12
Jeff Zimmerman: Kiriloff, Kelenic, Duran, …..Adell

8:13
BDubs: Drop any of these for ZThompson?: JLopez, Stripling, Morton, Urquidy, Bassitt, Musgrove, Urias.

8:13
Jeff Zimmerman: No

8:13
Desperate for Saves: Lucas Sims worth holding onto?

8:13
Jeff Zimmerman: Yes

8:13
Greg: Would Lars Nootbar have ranked highly in your Waiver article? Like him over Jake Bauers?

8:14
Jeff Zimmerman: I don’t think so, I don’t have a good read on Nootbar

8:14
Soroka: 20 team dynasty, I’m contending this year.  Does Mike Soroka have much value with the latest Achilles injury?  He’s still just 23, so I’d think he would be comparable to a 50 FV pitching prospect, but maybe a repeated non-arm injury is enough to drop him if I need the spot?

8:15
Jeff Zimmerman: Trade him for someone out of the race for even a boring old bat like Upton

8:15
Jeff Zimmerman: Or a non-keeper closer

8:15
Clark Olson: What are your thoughts on Eli White for an NFBC ME?

8:16
Jeff Zimmerman: He’s been playing a ton, but has been shitty. Where I need an OF, he’s sitting at the bottom of those bid groups

8:17
Jason: Thoughts on Charlie Blackmon ROS in a 12 team roto league? Still lots of summer days at Coors left but I’m tempted to test his trade value

8:17
Jeff Zimmerman: Go for a trade, but maybe wait to see if he goes off this week at home.

8:17
Jason: Do you prefer A. Rosario or Polanco in 12 team roto league?

8:17
Jeff Zimmerman: Both.

8:18
Jeff Zimmerman: Twins Polanco

8:18
Pickle Rick: Hey Jeff, what do you look at when deciding which pitchers to stream? I’ve been kind of hit or miss on streamers so far.

8:18
Jeff Zimmerman: You don’t want to ask me, I throw everyone out there.

8:19
Jeff Zimmerman: I just try to hoard Wins and K’s now and can work on ratios later with MR.

8:20
Jeff Zimmerman: As long as they have one favorable start they make the cut

8:20
KCBbq: Thanks so much for doing these weekly chats. Great to bounce ideas off you.

8:20
Jeff Zimmerman: No problem

8:20
Trolling for Saves: Best chance to take closer job, Fairbanks, Barlow, Sulser.

8:20
Jeff Zimmerman: Barlow

8:20
Bader: Drop I.Happ to stash H.Bader?

8:21
Jeff Zimmerman: Or even Kole Calhoun

8:21
ML: Daz Cameron or Taylor Trammell?

8:21
Jeff Zimmerman: Cameron for me

8:21
Robbie: Which should I cut when Sonny Gray comes back? Cobb, Joe Ross, Manoah, Sandoval, Gonsolin

8:22
Jeff Zimmerman: It’ll likely be Ross. He has little demand after burning so many fantasy managers in the past

8:22
Seanold: Got some decent waiver options in a 12 team roto league. Rank the following: Blackmon, Solak, Nimmo

8:23
Jeff Zimmerman: Blackmon, Nimmo, Solak.   Solak is unstartable at this point

8:23
Jason: Would you drop Brandon Lowe for Kirilloff in a points league? I’ve tried to trade Lowe but no takers.

8:23
Jeff Zimmerman: Yes

8:23
Biff: You have any concerns with Bieber or Civale coming back top 30ish

8:23
Jeff Zimmerman: Yes, but there’s not much I can do about it

8:24
Blue J: Once healthy, do you like Merryweather over Romano in TOR is they dont deal for a closer?

8:24
Jeff Zimmerman: Yes and it may be time to roster Merryweather on the cheap

8:24
Jughead: How do you feel about Archie Bradley? Just a one off save today or is he the guy?

8:25
Jeff Zimmerman: I think somewhere in-between. It’ll be matchup-based.

8:25
Oddball Herrera: Non keeper, are you holding Manoah over guys like Stripling/Cobb?

8:25
Jeff Zimmerman: These guys are so close

8:26
Jeff Zimmerman: If there was a ROS draft, I’d take … Stripling first

8:26
Yuck the Fankees: Brach or Garrett?

8:26
Jeff Zimmerman: Garrett

8:27
Urban Shocker: How long of a leash does Wander Franco (TB) have?

8:27
Jeff Zimmerman: Quite a bit as long as the team keeps winning

8:27
Dougie: Drop Odubel for Duggar?

8:27
Jeff Zimmerman: I would not

8:27
Biff: Thanks again for the chats. Highlight of my Sunday

8:27
Jeff Zimmerman: Thanks … I guess

8:27
West Coast: Appreciate you doing this chat. What is your level of optimism that Matthew Boyd returns after the All-Star Game? Is Boyd worth holding in 13-team roto?

8:28
Jeff Zimmerman: He’s not one of my favorite stashes. I prefer Turnbull

8:28
Jones: Would you take Donaldson or Hosmer at corner infield for the rest of the season? Thanks.

8:29
Jeff Zimmerman: Sure, but I’d look to upgrade or find a backup

8:29
Smoking Aces: Leading a roto league (with QS) but running over on innings. My SP are Giolito, Nola, Ryu, Peralta, Castillo, Snell, McClanahan, and Paddack. Who should I try and trade for a hitter? Or just stand pat and be super selective?

8:29
Jeff Zimmerman: I’d stay selective until the league’s trade dealine

8:31
Jeff Zimmerman: Thanks for showing up, but I need to go over my teams one last time before the NFBC run FAAB
