Sunday Night Waiver Wire & FAAB Chat

7:31
Jeff Zimmerman: Welcome

7:32
Jeff Zimmerman: Just a heads up. I have been busy most of the day so, besides the major headlines, I’ll lack many of today’s details

7:33
Jeff Zimmerman: Here are the 15-team, mixed league FAAB results from Tout Wars.

7:33
Jeff Zimmerman:

7:33
Jeff Zimmerman:

7:34
Feddy: Fulmer and Robles both blew saves today. Which would you rather have for the near future?

7:34
Jeff Zimmerman: Fulmer, fewer decent options in the bullpen

7:34
RealHumanBeing: Corey Seager was dropped in my 15 team NFBC. How much of my $640 FAAB should I spend?

7:35
Jeff Zimmerman: I think it’ll take around $300, now I’m 100% sure if that is the best use of your resources.

7:36
Jeff Zimmerman: It’s a tough call. If it was me, I’d go with a $150 keep’em honest bid

7:36
CD: Do I waive either of Austin Nola or Christian Vazquez for Wilson Ramos?

7:36
Jeff Zimmerman: I think it comes down to needs

7:36
Jeff Zimmerman: Vazquez can provide some speed

7:37
Jeff Zimmerman: Ramos volume

7:37
Jeff Zimmerman: Nola AVG

7:37
Jeff Zimmerman: They are each decent, but provide a different skill set

7:38
Feddy: Have to drop either Hoerner or Hays, OBP league, which one gets the boot? if it helps, i think hays has 7 games this week and hoerner has 6

7:38
Jeff Zimmerman: Hays is the drop, he’s shown no upside, very blah

7:38
Feddy: apparently cavan has been playing through a neck injury all year. when he returns from IL are we gonna see a different cavan?

7:39
Jeff Zimmerman: That would be great, but we’ll see.

7:39
Jeff Zimmerman: I’ve not been impressed with how the Jays have been handling injuries.

7:40
Feddy: Since William Contreras and Mike Zunino are still on my waiver wire, would it make sense to try to trade christian vazquez for a quality hitter, and then drop some other vegetable for contreras/zunino?

7:40
Jeff Zimmerman: If you can, sure.

7:40
Samantha: If you had to guess, what are your estimated call up time-frame for Alek Manoah and Vidal Brujan? Sooner or later?

7:41
Jeff Zimmerman: After June 10th:

With teams being cheap (i.e. the Rays), the Super 2 deadline is important for them to keep costs done.

The formula is confusing as hell and every year the date moves. It’s not even a date but the amount of service time the player occurs in that season.

17 May 2021
7:41
Jeff Zimmerman: The second tweet in the thread shows the time frames.

7:42
Santana: Does Santana play when Arroyo comes back? Him or Taylor Walls?

7:42
Jeff Zimmerman: I think Santana has several options to keep playing with several bats not hitting (Franchy and Marwin).

7:43
Jeff Zimmerman: If someone needs a shot to get their team going, Santana is it if he returns to the 20/20 production of 2019

7:43
Writing on the Walls: Been enjoying Harold Castro, but he’s not playing every day. Drop for Taylor Walls? OBP league.

7:45
Jeff Zimmerman: I’m not sure Walls is actually a good hitter, just average.

7:45
Jeff Zimmerman: That said, add Walls. Castro’s skill set is replacement and I could be wrong about Walls

7:46
TLR’s next DUI excuse: Eno has an eye for Wil Crowe based on his “stuff”. Are you seeing anything special worth adding to a deep league, pitching starved roster?

7:47
Jeff Zimmerman: I have my own “stuff” metric and his around the top 1/4 to 1/3 of starters

7:48
Jeff Zimmerman: The issue with him is the walks (5.6 BB/9 in the majors).

7:48
Jeff Zimmerman: He’s missing some tools

7:48
Guest: youd take santana over mazara right? where would you have mazara in your waiver list? seem like you are not a fan

7:49
Jeff Zimmerman: Santana way over Mazara. Mazara has never been a good player. Why would he start now

7:49
Catcher: William Contreras, Haase, or Meija? There seems to be lots of catchers this year that can hit ok!!!

7:50
Jeff Zimmerman: This going to be a controversial take, but it’s Haase especially if he keeps hitting and playing in the outfield

7:51
Jeff Zimmerman: Haase is a must add in all 2 catcher formats

7:51
Jeff Zimmerman: Just watch those K’s

7:51
Me: Pham or Bader ROS

7:52
Jeff Zimmerman: Bader if he keeps the K% down

7:52
Guest: where would larnach rank on your pick up list? have him currently in al only but wondering if santana or walls or any of these guys would be better?

7:52
Jeff Zimmerman: Larnach hasn’t been the best and not playing all the time.

7:52
Jeff Zimmerman: I’d add Santana and Walls

7:53
Guest: adames or tauchman ros for you?

7:53
Jeff Zimmerman: Tauchman and it’s not close

7:53
CJ Kaltenbach: Chavis also a candidate to get demoted to free up some time

7:53
Jeff Zimmerman: True in Boston

7:53
Pitching: Bubic, Kelly, Gomber, or Perez? Any interesting streamers so I can replace Duffy?

7:54
Jeff Zimmerman: Bubic has the combo of potential upside and two-start week.

7:54
Jeff Zimmerman: Gomber is a reasonable stream, but don’t bust the bank. He’s back to the wire next week

7:55
Adam: I’m in a 14 team head to head points league. With Kirilloff coming off the DL, I need to cut one of the following: Bader, Naylor, Mountcastle or Kiriloff. How would you rank those 4?

7:55
Jeff Zimmerman: Bader, Kiriloff, Naylor, Bader.

7:56
Jeff Zimmerman: Now, Naylor could move up in the 1B eligibility helps.

7:56
Rick: Do you think Adames will be the long-term Brewers Shortstop?  He’s shown flashes he can hit, but at other times seems weak as a hitter.

7:57
Jeff Zimmerman: He’s a fine bat who is fine. I didn’t see any change in his value because of the trade.

7:58
Guest: Garrett Richards available in 15 team. Could use a starter but is he worth?

7:58
Jeff Zimmerman: Yes, he made some mechanic adjustments and he’s been lights out over his last few starts.

7:58
John Olerud’s Helmet: Danny Santana or Chad Pinder? AL only league and I need to replace Hicks

7:59
Jeff Zimmerman: Both … Pinder is a sneaky add this week. He’s been playing quite a bit

7:59
Steve: Jorge Alfaro appears to be returning this week. 2 Bombs yesterday AAA. You take him over Ramos and Stephenson?

8:00
Jeff Zimmerman: Maybe Stephenson. All three should be rostered

8:01
Jeff Zimmerman: If there is FAAB involved, go with a min bid. Your current options are fine.

8:01
KCCubfan: Are you a Dobnak or Fleming buyer? Both available in my 12 team 5×5 AL only league. If so, are they worth more than a $1 bid? We use $100 FAAB

8:02
Jeff Zimmerman: In AL-only, for sure. maybe $2 each but I don’t know your league dynamics.

8:02
Chucky: Owen Miller a viable option in a less than middling Cleveland lineup?

8:03
Jeff Zimmerman: I’m trying to get a read on this move.

8:04
Jeff Zimmerman: I’m not 100% sure of his role

8:04
Guest: luis castillo dropped in my nl only league. do you have faith in a rebound? I cant imagine he isnt better than some of my other options like davies, martin, keller but his performance so far has been awful

8:05
Jeff Zimmerman: I’d immediately add, I have faith in him

8:05
PitchersHittingIsBad: Cut Zac Gallen for Spencer Howard, Severino or Manoah?

8:05
Jeff Zimmerman: Manoah

8:05
Jeff Zimmerman: Add him while you can

8:05
Grip: Do you recommend Skubal’s two step against CLE/NYY?

8:06
Jeff Zimmerman: Yes, but I’m sure people will let me know if I’m wrong

8:06
Samantha: does darin ruf keep his job when belt comes back?

8:07
Jeff Zimmerman: Probably not at 1B but could see time in the OF

8:07
Chucky: Brendan Rodgers finally get a real chance to play, day in day out? I know it’s the Rockies….but?

8:08
Jeff Zimmerman: Add and see how it goes.

8:08
SCOTT TINSTAAPP: how much should we bid for Brendan Rodgers in 15-team NFBC (optimistic about his rest of season viability)

8:08
Jeff Zimmerman: I think it’ll around $100, but it could be even more.

8:09
Jeff Zimmerman: My issue is that I’d prefer to wait on some of the other prospects about to be called up

8:09
Bart: Adell has been heating up. Is he an add in most formats?

8:09
Jeff Zimmerman: Watch the strikeout rate. That was his issue in the majors.

8:10
Jeff Zimmerman: He has it down to 36%

8:10
Jeff Zimmerman: It was over 40%

8:10
Lefty: More saves next few months: Tyler Rogers or Taylor Rogers?

8:11
Jeff Zimmerman: No idea, but I’ll go with the safe bet of Taylor

8:11
Pat: Choose 3 this week: Rich Hill vs. KC, Alzolay vs. CIN, McClanahan vs. KC, German Marquez @ NYM, Martin Perez vs. MIA, Alex Cobb @ OAK?

8:11
Jeff Zimmerman: Hill, Azolay, Martin

8:11
Baseball fan: Who’s the better short-term pickup for steals – Profar, Villar, Santana, or Herrera? And ROS?  Standard 5×5 roto league.

8:11
Jeff Zimmerman: Villar if you need SB

8:12
Jeff Zimmerman: I’d go with Santana if he ends up hitting

8:12
Kuff6: Brujan or Walls (obp instead of avg)? Thanks!

8:12
Jeff Zimmerman: Brujan and it’s not close

8:13
Andrew: Drop Daza for Adames, Herrera, Pinder, or McKinstry?

8:13
Jeff Zimmerman: Herrera

8:13
Grissom Deshields: Drop ynoa for manoah?  Sounds like it would be right

8:13
Jeff Zimmerman: Yes

8:14
Moore for Less: Dylan Moore dropped in my 12 team roto…how much of a spend to stash?

8:14
Jeff Zimmerman: Min bid if adding at all

8:14
Quarantino Martinez: Hi Jeff! OBP league. Could you rank (or pick 2+) of Taylor Walls, Danny Santana, Harold Castro, Maikel Franco, Jose Iglesias? Thank you!

8:15
Jeff Zimmerman: Santana, Walks, Castro, Franco, Iglesias

8:15
Snake Bit: In a 12 team roto mixer w/ 5 OF’s, how would you prioritize spend for Pavin, Naylor, and Hays?

8:15
Jeff Zimmerman: You have them in the right order

8:16
Feddy: thoughts on harold ramirez? he was a popular waiver wire pick last week but hasn’t done much since

8:17
Jeff Zimmerman: I understand the buzz. Pivot to Harold Castro

8:17
KCCubfan: Will Cora give Danny Santana a long leash? What % of FAAB is he worth bidding for?

8:17
Jeff Zimmerman: It seems that way so far and I think wining bids will be fro $50 to 250

8:18
TLR’s next DUI excuse: Daulton Jeffries off DL…worthy of a stash?

8:18
Jeff Zimmerman: Maybe.

8:18
Jeff Zimmerman: Pitchers coming off the IL have been heading right back on it.

8:18
Matt: Any idea who the closer is in Toronto at this point?

8:18
Jeff Zimmerman: No, what a nightmare

8:19
Jeff Zimmerman: That bullpen is the black home for FAAB. It just gets sucked away an never useful

8:20
Feddy: ok so for some reason enrique and danny santana are both available in my 12 team obp league and i want to snatch them but i’m a little hesitant because i already am starting 3 red sox hitters, and i’m worried that i’ll be putting my fate into the hands of a single team. so basically my question is when does stacking become too dangerous?

8:20
Jeff Zimmerman: The only issue I’ve seen is if the team gets hit with a COVID shutdown (or several players out)

8:21
Jeff Zimmerman: Just keep adding good players

8:21
Kate: How are you feeling about Bader?  Last week was pretty rough.  Still think he’s worthy of a roster spot in 12 teamers, over guys like Profar, Brian Anderson, Dom Smith and Tapia(playing time)?

8:22
Jeff Zimmerman: I’m all in and I’m not changing my opinion based on one week

8:22
Miller Time: Thanks for the WW list. Where does Owen Miller fit within your bats?

8:22
Jeff Zimmerman: Your welcome and Miller would be near the bottom.

8:22
Jeff Zimmerman: I don’t have no idea what to expect

8:23
Feddy: feyerisen got a save today with the rays. does that mean anything to u?

8:23
Jeff Zimmerman: no, it’s what the Rays do

8:24
Bird Doggin’: With news of a bullpen shift away from Valdez in the 9th to setup in BAL, how much of a spend to stash H.Harvey?

8:24
Jeff Zimmerman: Not much … I’m never going to bet on Harvey contributing … ever.

8:25
Biff: When he does get the call, where will Wander be ranked. Would you drop Correa to pick him up

8:25
Jeff Zimmerman: No and there is the chance TB platoons him.

8:25
Matt: Please rank the SP’s:  Car Mart, Garret Richards, Bassit, Tony Desclafani, Logan Webb (assuming he’s back soon).  Thanks!

8:26
Jeff Zimmerman: Richards, Disco, Bassit, Web, CMart

8:26
Catch All: Roster crunch in a single cather 12 teamer, drop G.Sanchez or Narvaez. Last in HRs 🙁

8:26
Jeff Zimmerman: Gary

8:26
Von Joshua: Who would you rather have when health…Framber Valdez or Tony Gonsolin?

8:26
Jeff Zimmerman: Valdez

8:27
Jeff Zimmerman: I’m worried that the Dodgers will baby Gonsolin.

8:27
Bruce: Thoughts on Ian Happ? He was starting to heat up then went on the DL. Is he a must roster? OF only elig in my 14 team pts league.

8:28
Jeff Zimmerman: He is, for now, he how he performs this upcoming week

8:28
Taffy Lee Fubbins: How bullish are you on Hasse? Is he worth it to drop Naravez? 14 team, 1 C league.

8:28
Jeff Zimmerman: Not that bullish

8:28
Bart: Which to cut for Santana? Clint Frazier, locastro, slater

8:29
Jeff Zimmerman: All are fine to get but I’d go Locastro

8:29
Jeff Zimmerman: That’s it for this week.

8:29
Jeff Zimmerman: I need to check in on my FAAB bids

Can you rank Andujar, Santana, and Bader for me, over the same 4-6 weeks (HTH league)?
