Sunday Night Waiver Wire & FAAB Chat
| 7:31 |
: Here are the winning bids in the two 15-team, Tout Wars redraft leagues.
| 7:31 |
:
| 7:31 |
: Mono league. Drop Josh Lowe for Carlos Cortes or Vaughn Grissom? Ugh.
| 7:31 |
: I’d stick with Lowe
| 7:31 |
: 15 tm Tim Tawa or Josh Lowe? ( terrible FAAB week)
| 7:32 |
: It’s so bad … there aren’t even hitters on the wire.

| 7:32 |
: Tawa
| 7:33 |
: What’s your take on Bryan Woo this year? Is he unlucky with a high babip and low strand rate or are those a product of 70% fastballs letting guys sit on them? Does his 3.7 xFIP reflect the guy you expect ROS or is there legit hope for a return to his preseason expectations?
| 7:33 |
: Right now, I have Woo as a 3.53 ERA talent.
| 7:34 |
: There is a battle between STUPH and results going on
| 7:34 |
: What’s do you think J. Gonzalez (Pit) ceiling/likely outcome is with more constant playing time on the buccos? Worth a roster spot? Looking to boost my OPS in a cat league, would you drop Dansby for Gonzalez?
| 7:35 |
: Gonzalez will be a strong-side platoon bat, so streamable when the Pirates faced a bunch of righties.
| 7:36 |
: Where would Sasaki rank in your SP waiver adds? Thanks
| 7:36 |
: Higher than i’d like to admit …
| 7:36 |
: between Leahy and Singer
| 7:37 |
: Any good NL corner infielders seem poised to move to an everyday role after the deadline? Thank you.
| 7:37 |
: Whoever the DBacks bring in … maybe Ty France
| 7:38 |
: 12 team AL only 5×5 H2H keeper league using W+QS and S+1/2H. Last week you preferred Sandoval and then a decent RP by a wide margin over Bieber. After seeing what the 2 SPs did has your opinion changed? Sandoval’s first game back was an adreneline rush. Bieber looked much better. Or woul dyou opted for a RP like Okert, Headrick or Morris? My SPs are Bradish, McClananhan, Baz, Gray and stream Martin for home games.
| 7:38 |
: I still have Sandoval way ahead of Bieber and the RPs
| 7:39 |
: Drop jarren duran for Garrett Mitchell in 5v5? Need BA help
| 7:41 |
: So you want to add a player with a 33% K% to help your batting average? Keep Duran
| 7:41 |
: I think it’s Wells>Kittrege, but, in an AL only, should I hold both or cut one to spec on Patrick Sandoval?
| 7:41 |
: (I know you maintain faith in your WW piece)
| 7:42 |
: You can hold both on an AL-only. If I’m not going to have a full-time closer, I want the more talented one (Kittredge)
| 7:42 |
: Montgomery over Vesia in S+H? Taylor over both?
| 7:43 |
: Taylor, Vesia, Montgomery
| 7:43 |
: oneil cruz or cal raleigh ROS?
| 7:43 |
: Cal … Cruz is out a few more weeks … at least
| 7:43 |
: Playing for next season in NL only. Any of rincones, Locklear worth throwing a bid at?
| 7:43 |
: No
| 7:44 |
: In a 12 team points (generic/CBS) league, are Bauers, Cags, and Teoscar about the same value ROS? If you had to pick 2 who is the drop?
| 7:44 |
: Teoscar would need to go
| 7:45 |
: Slim pickings on the AL waiver wire. 12 team AL only 5×5 H2H using OPS. SBs would be a help. Who do you prefer between Mesa Jr and Wade Jr?
| 7:45 |
: Mesa
| 7:45 |
: Is Tanner Scott still the LAD closer post-deadline?
| 7:45 |
: He is until Diaz returns from the IL
| 7:46 |
: Not FAAB question: AL Only 11 TM $280 Keeper no add/drops – battling for first and injuries hurting bats. Can deal Caminero ($11 1 yr left) and two scrubs for one of the following three packages: (1) Ward, Kwan, Okamoto (2) Langford, Altuve, M. Garcia and G Jax (3) Raleigh, Varsho, J. Wilson or (4) keep Caminero and ask for more. Current rank is 4, 1, 3, 2. What’s your inclination?
| 7:47 |
: I think you need more of an impact player or two.
| 7:47 |
: Singer throws a BP quality fastball, often in the Reds ballpark – why do I want this?
| 7:48 |
: You don’t … there are just no other options out there
| 7:48 |
: Any Tommy Tanks interest in AL Only? Him or teammate JKG?
| 7:49 |
: I have no interest in Tommy White, I’d easily take Kuroda-Grauer over him
| 7:49 |
: Baz or L Henderson ROS and next year?
| 7:50 |
: I have Henderson way above Baz
| 7:51 |
: Seymour or Taj bradley ROS? Thanks
| 7:51 |
: Seymour
| 7:51 |
: 12 team OC. Is Will Smith a cut or hold? Would be for a pitching streamer or bench bat. I am just so skeptical of his timeline right now.
| 7:52 |
: After the latest news, I moved on from him in all formats. I’ll use that spot for anything else
| 7:52 |
: I had J.Rodriguez return and soon N.Kurtz. I need to cut 2. Who should I keep? Steer, N.Nunez, Elridge, Vinnie P, Ewing or Pena.
| 7:52 |
: Vinnie and Nunez or Steer based on your needs
| 7:53 |
: Ohtani won’t pitch for an “indefinite” amount of time. What odd you give Dodgers to get Skubal vs field (all other teams). Skubal for 1 of Sirota/Tibbs, 1 of SerinowskiFerris, and 1 of Davalan/Harlan, who says No?
| 7:54 |
: I have the Dodgers at maybe 10%, I think someone might jump in with a crazy offer. Also, there is a chance Skubal stays put
| 7:54 |
: Is Mitch Keller a better add than Singer, Junk, or Z. Matthews?
| 7:55 |
: I’m not against adding Junk
| 7:56 |
: Is Jonatan Clase worth a shot in AL only league? Could use the steals and nothing much on the wire
| 7:56 |
: I’m not sure I’m that desperate yet. Wait to see what happens at the trade deadline
| 7:57 |
: AL Only, drop Zebby for P Sandoval?
| 7:57 |
: Zebby
| 7:57 |
: Thoughts on Corbin Carroll injury?
| 7:58 |
: Another first-round talent hurt … shocked
| 7:58 |
: We’ll find out more tomorrow
| 7:59 |
: In a keeper league of mine, a FABed player cannot be kept for next year unless he reaches the major leagues this year. I FABed Franklin Arias and Mike Sorota last week, just in case … any thoughts on whether they might reach the majors this year, even just for a cup of coffee, or would it be prudent to churn those roster spots for other players?
| 8:00 |
: I’d try to churn elsewhere. As I mentioned at least once already, keep an open mind and roster for the trade deadline
| 8:00 |
: Does Carroll injury assure Waldschmidt Playing time? Thanks
| 8:02 |
: The news is that Carroll is day-to-day, so I’m not adding Waldschmidt over that news
| 8:02 |
: Drop Seymour for Pfaadt?
| 8:04 |
: They are close and I have Seymour ahead. I might lean Pfaady comparing their upcoming schedules
| 8:04 |
: 10T/Cat league…need an Ohtani (P) replacement…Drohan, Sasaki, Lambert, Sheehan, Flaherty?
| 8:04 |
: Drohan
| 8:04 |
: Pick up Kyle Harrison or add Lambert or Scott? Thanks!
| 8:05 |
: I have them Harrison, Scott …. Lambert
| 8:05 |
: Is Lodolo worth dropping for Flaherty in a 10 team roto if you don’t have IL space? Not sure how long he’ll be out.
| 8:05 |
: Yes
| 8:06 |
: Thanks for the chat Jeff! 20-team 5×5 OBP keeper league (max three years on roster), rebuilding and am sitting near the top of the waiver order. We have three-player Minors rosters so many prospects are unavailable. Some available guys on my Watch list for a potential pickup if they were to get promoted this year: George Lombard, Michael Arroyo, Ethan Salas, Hector Rodriguez, James Tibbs, Karson Millbrandt, Quinn Matthews. Any of these guys in particular that you’d save that waiver claim for in hopes they make it to the bigs this year, or burn it on if they do get called up?
| 8:08 |
: I’d burn it on any of them … throw as many darts as possible. Also, I suspect the priority to change a bunch once trades start
| 8:08 |
: Lane Thomas worth a flyer in 12 team 5 outfield leagues
| 8:08 |
: For sure
| 8:08 |
: And he has an at COL series coming up
| 8:09 |
: Bolte or Butler of Oakland rest of the season? Neither great choices I know.
| 8:09 |
: It would be Butler if he played every game, so I’ll lean Bolte for now
| 8:10 |
: Would you start Ryan Weathers tomorrow vs. the Pirates? They’ve been hot, though less vs. lefties, lately.
| 8:10 |
: Probably. It all depends on my other options.
| 8:11 |
: In an NL if traded out of the league I lose them. Chances King or Alcantara get traded? Not specifically to AL , just traded.
| 8:11 |
: For now, I think the chances are low.
| 8:12 |
: One note on trades, try to follow some of the most traded likely to be traded lists, especially if MLBTR has one. Generally, if a player is not on the list, they don’t get traded.
| 8:14 |
: E Valdez-cmon!! Walks, strikes out and hits bombs. Who’s taking notice?
| 8:15 |
: Anyone needing homers
| 8:15 |
: Is Roupp capable of keeping his walks down (maybe below 3 bb/9)?
| 8:15 |
: I don’t think so
| 8:16 |
: does Cole Young have what it takes to be a 25/10 bat at that park long-term, or is 18-20 HR more his upside still
| 8:16 |
: 25 HR is a reasonable outcome.
| 8:17 |
: He has 8 HR in June and July. The 1 HR in May is keeping down his total
| 8:17 |
: Would you consider Tolle and Teoscar relatively even in value ROS? Average might be a lost cause at this point but could use RBIs and have an offer on the table
| 8:17 |
: I might have Tolle higher, but it’s so tough to know how your league is playing.
| 8:18 |
: AL only, who are some under the radar SOLDS targets for the stretch run as I build a lead in K’s and QS’s?
| 8:19 |
: I don’t have any under-the-radar guys. It’s the same guys for me, good pitchers used in high-leverage spots.
| 8:20 |
: Just start working yourself down this list: https://www.fangraphs.com/projections?type=fangraphsdc&stats=rel&pos=a…
| 8:21 |
: Do you trust the new k-bb stud Jordan Hicks or is he the same destroy-your-ratios Jordan Hicks of old?
| 8:22 |
: His 1.54 WHIP is doing as much ratio damage as a 5.75 ERA. Ignore
| 8:22 |
: Is Jackson Jobe someone to pick up or just monitor in a 16 team league? Could be a sneaky guy for the last two months to have.
| 8:24 |
: Maybe. I’m focusing on the guys coming back right now. Two I’d consider are Jordan Mongomery and Hayden Wesneski. Add, see if there is anything there, then dump if not and then add Jobe
| 8:25 |
: News on Palencia is mid-August at best, would you hold in a 15 teamer if desperate for saves?
| 8:25 |
: I’m moving on, I need the spot
| 8:25 |
: Tks for your time!
| 8:25 |
: np
| 8:26 |
: Add Sewald or Grant Taylor?
| 8:26 |
: If they were available any of my leagues, I’d add both
| 8:27 |
: You have any sleeper RPs that might become closers at the trade deadline, whether because they might get traded to a closer-hungry team or the closer on their team might get traded away, exposing them to 9th inning work?
| 8:27 |
: Morejon count?
| 8:28 |
: That’s it for this week. I hope everyone enjoyed the break.

Eldridge good for the rest of the year?
In regards to Hicks and his rebound… he has thrown as good as any reliever in last 5 weeks, so IMO, he should be in all radars. His whip isn’t close to 1.54 in last month.
France can’t really be more of an everyday player than he is now, has started 23 of 24 games when healthy since mid-June.
