matt: I noticed Jake McCarthy was absent from the waiver wire faab list this week.  Is he worth considering based on recent performance?

Jeff Zimmerman: Maybe, the performance is fine, but he has only six starts in the last 10 games, while batting at the bottom of the order.

Planning Ahead: Who do you think gets bumped from PIT’s rotation when Jared Jones returns? Mlodzinski? Bubba? Or do they go w/ a 6-man?

Jeff Zimmerman: Bubba is he continues to pick like he is

NL Only: HS Kim activation seems imminent and have him in my IL spot. Who is the drop, Tyler Freeman, D. Hamilton, Andujar or HS Kim? SBs are tight, OBP league.

Jeff Zimmerman: Kim or Andujar

Christina: Does your preference for Nunez over Rocchio extend to dynasty? And does it matter that 5 of Rocchio’s steals have come in the last 10 games?

Jeff Zimmerman: I don’t really care about recent production and that Nunez is a difference maker in the one category. Maybe a team needs a more balance hitter like Rocchio

Planning Ahead: Who do you think LAD sends down when Mookie returns? Hyesong or Freeland?

Jeff Zimmerman: Neither, one will go to the bench. I have not heard which one goes.

KCBBq: So what is Spencer Jones worth via FAAB (58 of 100 left) in a 12 team AL only 5×5 H2H keeper league using OPS? Most likely he heads back to AAA when Stanton returns so that should limit the bidding…..right?

Jeff Zimmerman: I’d go $5 at most. The low contact% has not been seen before.

Straw: Do you enjoy these chats? You always seem a little…annoyed.

Jeff Zimmerman: I get annoyed with two questions. Can I drop player X? There needs to be some context. I usually say that once to see if anyone listens. Also, I ignore a ton of Rank player 1, player 2, player 3, player 4. I might answer with four player and never beyond that.

RPs: Any long relievers to target (over mediocre starters)  in a deep-ish FG points league?

Jeff Zimmerman: Drew Anderson in DET

Jeff Zimmerman: Ben Brown, whatever he’s doing.

Jeff Zimmerman: I had to put Jones somewhere and Gelof could suck again and get demoted.

RIP RPs: Do you have a favorite among these relievers (too low in the pecking order for your ww piece): Daniel Lynch, Jose Ferrer, Cole Sulser,  E dl a Santos? (Saves a plus but not a must)

12T H2H OBP: Decided to cut bait on Story and stream J.P. this week with all of the M’s soft righty matchups. Any tips for position player streaming now that I’m firmly giving up on having a long-term guy at SS?

Jeff Zimmerman: Look a couple of weeks ahead and don’t be afraid to just sit on a guy if he has long term value

Jeff Zimmerman: The team only faces lefties? A short side platoon bat only has so much value

Ransofast: Do you think ai agents for analysis and tool building are a net positive or negative for fantasy baseball? The world in general?

Jeff Zimmerman: If you mean by Tool Building, you mean coding, then yes. I’ve used AI to show me how to automate pulling and manipulating data. The last time I used AI for analysis, it recommended I avoid rostering three golfers.

Mike: What to do with Jacob Wilson?  Hope for the best.  The wire at SS is thin.

Jeff Zimmerman: That’s a tough one. I might not, but I could see it.

Porcho Villa: I need to drop one of Bazzana, Keaschall, and Antonacci (5×5 OBP). Antonacci’s position flexibility is valuable for my roster given daily moves. Who would you drop?

Jeff Zimmerman: I have Keashall and Bazzana ranked almost the same. I would drop Bazzana because Keashall has a better week.

Tovar: Is this dude broken?  I don’t want to drop him in a 12 where the MI options are highly picked over, but YIKES

Jeff Zimmerman: I’m trying to move on. I have the same problem with a few options so the list aren’t that long.

Tim: Is Altuve just average now? He’s down another 20 pts in AVG and 2 of his 3 homers came a month ago.

Jeff Zimmerman: He might be a bench streamer at this point

JWargs: Randy Vasquez got dropped in my 12tm 5×5. Would you cut any of Detmers, Ryne Nelson, or Soroka for him?

Jeff Zimmerman: Nelson is the only pitcher I have graded worse than Vazquez

matt: Colt Emerson is consistently absent from your Hitting Prospects list.  As someone that is stashing him in a 12-team H2H with 5 bench slots, am I an idiot?  Thanks as always for your insight.

Jeff Zimmerman: I only include prospects from the CBS list. I’d go find a couple players to stash articles and follow them. I know CBS and Pitcher List each does one.

wes: 2b wasteland: are Keaschall and/or Mclain WW fodder in 12s? duran, stott, semien or stream

Jeff Zimmerman: With these options, stream. I know that Texas has a decent schedule over the next few weeks, so maybe Duran to start with.

dennis: would you drop butler at this point for waldschmit? I know butlers metrics arent terrible, but hes getting harder to hold, esp with platooning

Jeff Zimmerman: There is no reason to hold onto Butler.

Cal Ral-PAIN: Have to bench him, right? All he does currently is strike out. When would you bring him back from bench (banishment)?

Jeff Zimmerman: Bench if there is a decent replacement. Too much upside to drop

Grote: Still holding on to Langford?  Waldschmidt is sitting out there, along with Ramos.

Jeff Zimmerman: I am, but that might be the wrong move

Jeff Zimmerman: I use Razzball for the next week. I have one that looks further ahead, but it’s held together with duct tape, baling wire, and the blood from a chicken.

Grey Albright: Am I your favorite fantasy baseball pundit?

Jeff Zimmerman: buzz…. ouch … the voices are making me say Ariel Cohen

Future FAAB: Even if I dont love some of the options on FAAB this week, are there future Outfield or Pitcher callups you are excited for this season?

Jeff Zimmerman: White (MIA), Tibbs (LAD), Emerson (SEA)

Kallus: Is it worth holding on to Pivetta and Musgrove in a 14 team rotisserie?  I have the IL spots.

Jeff Zimmerman: It can be if they are the best options. I always lean for the guys with the closest time horizon to churn through as many as possible

Cal Ral-PAIN: When you’re contributing -9 points a matchup leaving the spot empty is a decent replacement!
(In all seriousness I can put him in Util, so all hitters can replace him.)

Jeff Zimmerman: I don’t give up on hitters until a month in, but how about a dive on him.

Jeff Zimmerman: He is 37 games into the season.

Jeff Zimmerman: There is his 37-game rolling OPS. OPS is the best regular stat that approximates non-stolen base fantasy value.
