Starting Pitcher Chart – September 15th, 2022

The chart will include their performance over the last five starts, their opponent’s wOBA versus the pitcher’s handedness, and then my start/sit recommendation for 10-team, 12-team, and 15-team (or more) leagues. These are general recommendations, and your league situation will carry more weight whether you are protecting ratios or chasing counting numbers. This is for standard 5×5 roto leagues. The thresholds for H2H starts are generally lower, especially in points leagues so I thought there would be more value focusing on roto.
Let’s go secure some titles!

Kevin Gausman | TOR | TBR | R | x | x | x | 3.90 ERA, 1.20 WHIP, 28% K-BB | .314 – 11th | Looks like the season might run out before the .371 BABIP regresses |
Carlos Carrasco | NYM | PIT | R | x | x | x | 3.86 ERA, 1.30 WHIP, 19% K-BB | .286 – 25th | Great chance to stay hot after rocking MIA last start |
Miles Mikolas | STL | CIN | R | x | x | x | 3.38 ERA, 0.94 WHIP, 12% K-BB | .302 – 16th | Elite at home: 2.23 ERA, 0.81 WHIP, 16% K-BB in 88.7 IP |
Lance McCullers Jr. | HOU | OAK | R | x | x | x | 2.20 ERA, 1.33 WHIP, 9% K-BB | .291 – 22nd | Rough WHIP w/the 13% K-BB, matchup too good to pass |
Corey Kluber | TBR | at TOR | R | x | x | x | 4.21 ERA, 1.11 WHIP, 17% K-BB | .320 – 9th | His L5 #s are impressive given that he allowed 6 ER in 2/3rds of an inn. last start |
Pablo López | MIA | LAA | R | x | x | x | 6.66 ERA, 1.74 WHIP, 9% K-BB | .295 – 21st | 2 gems, 2 duds, 1 meh in L5; starting him despite the ugly 6.52 2H ERA |
Noah Syndergaard | LAA | at MIA | R | x | x | x | 4.50 ERA, 1.30 WHIP, 10% K-BB | .269 – 29th | Matchup drives the interest despite modest work w/PHI (10% K-BB) |
Dylan Bundy | MIN | KCR | R | x | x | 4.38 ERA, 1.32 WHIP, 6% K-BB | .274 – 28th | Allowed 10 ER in 34 IP before 7 ER dud v. CLE; 1st GS v. KC this yr
Sean Manaea | SDP | at ARI | L | x | x | 7.77 ERA, 1.54 WHIP, 17% K-BB | .263 – 29th | Skipped last time to clear his head a bit; great matchup gives some conidence
Hunter Gaddis | CLE | CWS | R | x | 4.15 ERA, 1.13 WHIP, 23% K-BB in MiLB | .303 – 14th | Brutal MLB debut (3.3 IP/8 ER v. HOU), but I could see going for this in a Hail Mary scenario
Daniel Lynch | KCR | at MIN | L | 7.40 ERA, 1.87 WHIP, 6% K-BB | .318 – 14th | Confidence from summer surge (2.94 ERA, 17% K-BB in 34 IP) has dissipated
James Kaprielian | OAK | at HOU | R | 6.46 ERA, 1.94 WHIP, 3% K-BB | .313 – 12th | Ran hot for the summer w/a 2.88 ERA in 11 GS, but 7% K-BB preached caution
JT Brubaker | PIT | at NYM | R | 3.90 ERA, 1.07 WHIP, 18% K-BB | .333 – 5th | Piching well of late; NYM too scary, though
Chase Anderson | CIN | at STL | R | 9.00 ERA, 1.67 WHIP, 5% K-BB | .347 – 1st | Stats are 9 IP in MLB, but this an easy no even if they were good
Madison Bumgarner | ARI | SDP | L | 8.42 ERA, 1.87 WHIP, 6% K-BB | .345 – 6th | He had a 3.71 ERA thru 20 starts; 7.68 in his L8 (43.3 IP) |
I think McClanahan might be starting for TB on Thursday instead of Kluber?
