Starting Pitcher Chart – September 15th, 2022

D. Ross Cameron-USA TODAY Sports

The chart will include their performance over the last five starts, their opponent’s wOBA versus the pitcher’s handedness, and then my start/sit recommendation for 10-team, 12-team, and 15-team (or more) leagues. These are general recommendations, and your league situation will carry more weight whether you are protecting ratios or chasing counting numbers. This is for standard 5×5 roto leagues. The thresholds for H2H starts are generally lower, especially in points leagues so I thought there would be more value focusing on roto.

Let’s go secure some titles!

Thursday’s Starters
PITCHER TM OPP THR 10 12 15+ L5 STATS OPP wOBA L30 days NOTE

Kevin Gausman TOR TBR R x x x 3.90 ERA, 1.20 WHIP, 28% K-BB .314 – 11th Looks like the season might run out before the .371 BABIP regresses
Carlos Carrasco NYM PIT R x x x 3.86 ERA, 1.30 WHIP, 19% K-BB .286 – 25th Great chance to stay hot after rocking MIA last start

Corey Kluber TBR at TOR R x x x 4.21 ERA, 1.11 WHIP, 17% K-BB .320 – 9th His L5 #s are impressive given that he allowed 6 ER in 2/3rds of an inn. last start
Pablo López MIA LAA R x x x 6.66 ERA, 1.74 WHIP, 9% K-BB .295 – 21st 2 gems, 2 duds, 1 meh in L5; starting him despite the ugly 6.52 2H ERA
Noah Syndergaard LAA at MIA R x x x 4.50 ERA, 1.30 WHIP, 10% K-BB .269 – 29th Matchup drives the interest despite modest work w/PHI (10% K-BB)
Dylan Bundy MIN KCR R x x 4.38 ERA, 1.32 WHIP, 6% K-BB .274 – 28th Allowed 10 ER in 34 IP before 7 ER dud v. CLE; 1st GS v. KC this yr

Hunter Gaddis CLE CWS R x 4.15 ERA, 1.13 WHIP, 23% K-BB in MiLB .303 – 14th Brutal MLB debut (3.3 IP/8 ER v. HOU), but I could see going for this in a Hail Mary scenario

James Kaprielian OAK at HOU R 6.46 ERA, 1.94 WHIP, 3% K-BB .313 – 12th Ran hot for the summer w/a 2.88 ERA in 11 GS, but 7% K-BB preached caution

I think McClanahan might be starting for TB on Thursday instead of Kluber?
