Starting Pitcher Chart – May 16th, 2025

The chart includes their performance for 2025, their opponent’s wOBA rank versus the pitcher’s handedness from this year so far, my general start/sit recommendation for 10-team, 12-team, and 15-team (or more) leagues, and then a note about them. Obviously, there are league sizes beyond those three so it’s essentially a shallow, medium, deep. If a pitcher only has an “x” in 15-team, it doesn’t mean there’s no potential use in 10s and 12s, but it’s a much riskier stream for those spots.
These are general recommendations, and your league situation will carry more weight whether you are protecting ratios or chasing counting numbers. This is for standard 5×5 roto leagues. The thresholds for H2H starts are generally lower, especially in points leagues so I thought there would be more valuable focusing on roto.

I think you have it right, Clay & Blanco would be my picks too.
Picked him up as a streamer last week but now I’m trying to decide exactly what to make of Shane Smith. The projections don’t think he’s anything special and he pitches for the White Sox so Ws are going to be tough to come by, but the guy just keeps putting up good starts. He was never much of a prospect but crushed it at every level on his way through the minors. He started out the year not getting many Ks but has now put together 23 over his last 21 IP (4 starts) and has posted solid K-rates all through the minors so there would seem to be some upside there. Even the estimators can’t figure him out – SIERA and xFIP think he’s been really lucky and is pretty average-ish, xERA and FIP think he’s only been a little lucky and is a top 30 pitcher. I couldn’t find your updated rankings but you have him 141st as of March 20th and Eno has him 138th as of April 25th, but Nick Pollack has him 59th as of Monday.
***EDIT: BTW, wind blowing out at Wrigley at 20 mph today. Might have to sit Smith today

Need one over the weekend: Horton (v CHW), Roupp (v Ath), Springs (@SFG), Olson (@TOR)…who’s got recommendations? Current plan is to YOLO it with Roupp
I prefer Olson and maybe even Horton over Roupp. Not out on Roupp entirely, just a bit more scared of ATH than TOR/CHW for the others
Great list. Vs Rockies I’d move Burnes up a couple spots despite not being an ace anymore, but agreed overall:)
