Recommendations for Roto 5×5 Leagues
The chart includes their 2024 stats (this changed over from last year’s stats on April 22nd), their opponent’s wOBA versus the pitcher’s handedness from this year so far (this is changed as of April 11th), my general start/sit recommendation for 10-team, 12-team, and 15-team (or more) leagues, and then a note about them. Obviously, there are league sizes beyond those three so it’s essentially a shallow, medium, deep. If a pitcher only has an “x” in 15-team, it doesn’t mean there’s no potential use in 10s and 12s, but that just means it is a riskier stream as the league gets shallower.

These are general recommendations, and your league situation will carry more weight whether you are protecting ratios or chasing counting numbers. This is for standard 5×5 roto leagues. The thresholds for H2H starts are generally lower, especially in points leagues so I thought there would be more value focusing on roto and then you can generally expand these recommendations a bit for points leagues.
I think Pivetta is scheduled for two starts. Where would he rank?

Do you rank from the pitcher’s perspective or the opposing teams’? In other words, if my pitcher is listed and I see a wOBA rank of 1st, should I be tickled pink or terrified?
You’d be more concerned seeing 1st. That means his opponent is 1st in weight On Base Average (wOBA) against the pitcher’s handedness. Doesn’t mean he can’t succeed against them, but just that it will be tougher
I think Soriano is much better than where you have him on this list. Against the listless Cards in a 12 teamer, I’m starting him.
I’m cool w/that. Not having the x for 12-tm doesn’t mean I’d never start him, just that it has real risk. I’m a big Soriano fan, but I know the dangers of running him
Still 3 Xs on Bibee? He hasn’t been very good lately outside of the Atlanta start and Texas is no easy matchup
It’s been unquestionably frustrating, but his K-BB is actually up a bit v. last yr as he’s struggled to navigate a .330 BABIP and 1.3 HR9. He’s weirdly played down to his competition w/his worst starts against his worst opponents. Maybe you’re deep enough to sit in the shallowest of leagues, but I’m just not sure I can find a sit in many situations
This feels like the day Imanaga gets all of his regression.

looool, I love a good self-roast. And if I can take you off the hook a bit, he did allow 10 base runners, so he was dodging the proverbial raindrops and a couple key pickoffs REALLY helped him. But make no mistake, Imanaga has been SO impressive. I was/kinda still am worried or at least curious about HRs as the weather heats up, but he’s been undeniably brilliant.
I wonder if it’s more of a Joe Ryan thing where yeah, he’ll eventually give up some bombs, but with no one base for most of ’em, they aren’t going to kill him outside of every once in a while when he allows a couple multi-run HRs.
True – 49 FB% with a 5% HR/FB rate will probably not stick once Chicago gets a little warmer this summer. It’s been crazy how good he’s been.
I’m liking Butto for a 2-start. Hoe against Philly without Turner is still not ideal, but he finishes the week with a start at Miami. He’s in my lineup.
Are they going 6-man or letting Manaea & Butto each throw 2?
It is sounding like Megill will not be immediately reintroduced to the rotation, and he may even make another rehab start. At minimum there is uncertainty there. Manea and Butto align for 2-starts if the Mets indeed keep a 5-man rotation.
