Hi Jason and Eno. What are your thoughts on Alex Wood and Tim Lincecum as a 4th or 5th starter in a 12 team mixed 5×5 league?
I like Lincecum because he’ll still get his K’s. I’m not sure what kind of workload Wood can shoulder this season.

Did you guys talk about Nova? I was doing a few things at once a missed part of the Yankee rotation. I guess i can go back and find it again…lol
We didn’t, but at least I like the guy. He’s a tease that may never fully realize his potential, but he ends up on my teams each season.

Thanks for the great work, guys. In your pitching discussion, could you give some advice on guys to target in a “holds” league?
Also, maybe some thoughts on how using quality starts instead of wins will affect the value of certain pitchers. Are there any guys you can think of who would really shoot up in value in this format?
(I wish there were QS and HLD projections!!!)
Eno – I’m curious to read your research on pitch types and movement that you mentioned briefly after discussing Erik Johnson. I’ve been trying to locate something where I can learn the baselines for pitch movement. I’ve been searching online, but so far haven’t found anything. I interested in knowing what horizontal and vertical movement is average, and then what would be above or below for the various pitch types.
I mentioned this to Eno on Twitter. On researching the odd decline of Jon Lester’s strikeout rate despite not losing a lot on fastball velocity. I discovered two major things. The first is, his cutter is now breaking away from RHH since 2012, while cutter typically break towards glove side. I noticed the same thing about David Price;s cutter. They almost aren’t cutter.
Lester’s cutter have also fallen 2-2.5 MPH, while his fastball has only declined .5MPH or so, isn’t that odd?

When talking pitchers pitch peripherals and how each pitch has success or not, and splits, how much do you account for that in your own personal rankings?

Two fantasy concerns I was hoping you’d address (not to be greedy):
1) I have heard some rumblings that Wilson will replace Kenley Jansen as the LAD clsoer. This seems ridiculous but is mildly troubling considering I have Jansen locked in for 4$ in a salary cap-keeper league.
2) Given Jason’s background with the Rays I’m curious about his evaluation of David Price in the upcoming year. My biggest concerns are the k-rate and the injury issues that surfaced last year.

Hey guys—question: I drafted last night (12-team roto, 23-man rosters, 2 util spots,5 bench spots). I want to run the projections on every team to have some idea of what everyone’s strengths and weaknesses are.
How would you recommend I go about dealing with the bench spots? Should I perhaps combine the benches into one player, and then combine that player with the weaker Util player on each team? I’m scared of overcounting or undercounting the benches on the hitting side.
For the pitching side, I was going to count every pitcher since teams usually are able to get the stats out of every pitcher they roster in roto.
