Roto Riteup: September 18, 2024

First time I have seen this:

On the Agenda:

  1. Quick Hits
  2. Various News and Notes
  3. Streaming Pitchers

Quick Hits

James McArthur was placed on the IL with an elbow strain. This will end his season.

Steven Kwan was placed on the IL with a back issue. This was originally called “body fatigue” and may not be much more than that. He is likely going to miss the majority if not all of the rest of the season.

Will Wagner was placed on the IL with knee inflammation. His season is over.

Dalton Varsho was placed on the IL with a shoulder issue. He is expected to undergo surgery on the shoulder in the offseason. His season is over.

Jeffrey Springs and Pete Fairbanks will not pitch again according to the Rays.

Nick Lodolo will not return from the IL due to his finger injury. His season is over.

Colt Keith left Tuesday’s game with a shoulder injury. Consider him day-to-day for now.

Victor Robles left Tuesday’s game after being hit with a pitch.

This was a bad game for Robles who got caught stealing home on a 3-0 count with the bases loaded early in the game.

X-rays were negative. Consider him day-to-day for now.

Various News and Notes
Jordan Walker went 1-for-3 with a home run in the victory over the Pirates on Tuesday.

Walker has been disappointing this season, but he has been better as of late hitting .272 with four home runs and a stolen base in the month of September. He still has a ton of talent with the bat. He should compete for an everyday role in the spring and could be a post-hype sleeper if he gets the role.

Luisangel Acuna went 3-for-4 with a home run in the victory over the Nationals on Tuesday.

Acuna is the brother of Ronald Acuna Jr., but he doesn’t have his prospect pedigree or ceiling. He has speed and some pop, but is much more likely to be an accumulator than anything else. He is playing right now with Francisco Lindor out, but he will likely return to a reserve role once Lindor is back.

Streaming Pitchers (Under 50% in CBS)

Pitcher for Today: Jose Quintana vs WAS

Quintana has been really good lately and faces a mediocre Nationals offense.

High Risk Options: DJ Herz at NYM, Hayden Birdsong at BAL, Alec Marsh vs DET, Ladon Knack at ATL.

Pitcher for Tomorrow: Cooper Criswell at TB

Criswell has pitched well lately and has a nice matchup here.

High Risk Options: Zack Littell vs BOS, Kumar Rocker vs TOR, Simeon Woods Richardson at CLE, Edward Cabrera vs LAD, Luis Ortiz at STL, Joey Cantillo vs MIN.

For those of you that would like to see how these picks play out, I have a doc I put together to track the stats from my recommended pitchers. It does not include the “High Risk Options.”

Like I mentioned yesterday, Landon Knack is facing the Marlins today, NOT the Braves (that was his previous start). Big difference.
