Quick Hits

James McArthur left Monday’s game with a hand injury. Consider him day-to-day at this time.

Austin Barnes was placed on the IL with a toe fracture. This will end Barnes’ season.

Various News and Notes

Hunter Goodman went 1-for-3 with a home run in the victory over the Diamondbacks on Monday.
Hunter Goodman went 1-for-3 with a home run in the victory over the Diamondbacks on Monday.

Goodman has been brutal in terms of his average hitting .190/.233/.418, but he has immense power and is only three games away from earning catcher eligibility for next season. He has been unlucky in the BABIP department this season and could be a deep league catching sleeper next season.

Blake Perkins went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases in the victory over the Phillies on Monday.

Perkins is up to 22 stolen bases on the season and while he has not been a full time player, he does offer a lot of upside with his speed, is a plus defender and enough pop to play. He is on the short side of a platoon at times, but he could be an interesting deep league speed play for next season.

Nick Yorke went 0-for-3 with a strikeout in his Major League debut on Monday.

Yorke was fantastic since being traded to the Pirates, hitting .355/.431/.507 with two home runs and seven stolen bases in 175 plate appearances in AAA. York doesn’t have a ton of upside, but he could be a really interesting accumulator next season if he is playing everyday.

Streaming Pitchers (Under 50% in CBS)

Pitcher for Today: Tylor Megill vs WAS

Megill has pitched well since rejoining the Mets rotation and faces a Nationals team that hasn’t been great in the second half.

High Risk Options: Lance Lynn vs PIT, Mitchell Parker at NYM, Zebby Matthews at CLE, Griffin Canning vs CHW, Bailey Falter at STL, Jordan Wicks vs OAK, Mitch Spence at CHC.

Pitcher for Tomorrow: Jose Quintana vs WAS

Quintana has been really good lately and faces a mediocre Nationals offense.

High Risk Options: DJ Herz at NYM, Hayden Birdsong at BAL, Alec Marsh vs DET, Ladon Knack at ATL, Cooper Criswell at TB.

For those of you that would like to see how these picks play out, I have a doc I put together to track the stats from my recommended pitchers. It does not include the “High Risk Options.”

Had a bad matchup last week, so I sat him in my NFBC. This week he’s right back in 2 of my leagues.
