Various News and Notes
Kyle Tucker went 1-for-6 with a home run and stolen base on Sunday. Tucker is hitting .325 with two home runs and four stolen bases in 40 at-bats so far this season. Tucker has been buried in AAA most of the year, but is finally getting an opportunity to play and has even gotten some work at first base to get him in the lineup. He should be owned in all formats.

Miguel Sano popped his 29th home run of the season on Sunday. With the huge power outputs we have seen this year in the Majors, Sano’s production has been under the radar, but he will have 30+ home runs this season after missing the first six weeks of the season. He will strike out a bunch, but his ability to take walks offsets that in OBP leagues and he has made enough contact to help keep him in the lineup.

Sean Manaea threw six scoreless innings versus the Rangers on Sunday, striking out six. Manaea has now thrown 18 innings since returning from shoulder surgery, allowing only one earned run and striking out 2. He is an under the radar pick up and a guy to target in 2020.

Quick Hits
Garrett Richards will make his season debut on Monday for the Padres. Richards has been recovering from Tommy John Surgery and is expected to be on a pitch count after going four innings in each of his final two rehab starts.

Chris Archer’s season is over for the Pirates. Archer has been rehabbing from a shoulder injury, but with the Pirates not in contention, they will shut him down and look towards 2020.

Mookie Betts will see a foot specialist on Monday. Betts has missed the last two games with the injury and is likely going to miss more time now which could put his season in jeopardy.

Jason Kipnis left Sunday’s game with a foot injury. Consider him day-to-day for now.

Anthony Rizzo left Sunday’s game with an ankle injury. He is expected to undergo an MRI on Monday.

Mike Trout will miss the rest of the season due to his foot injury. Trout has been on the shelf with the injury since last week and with the Angels out of the Wild Card race, there is no reason to delay surgery.

Charlie Culberson will miss the rest of the season with a broken cheekbone.

How about John Means vs Detroit? Worth streaming?

I nabbed him. Obviously the ERA estimators all say he’s been all kinds of lucky but xwOBA says he’s gotten about what he’s deserved and believe it or not, xwOBA says he’s been better than Bieber, Nola and Berrios among others.

But really, it’s Detroit. It’s a AAA team. Probably not even a good AAA team.

I would also add that he gets a nice 2nd start this week against the Mariners at home.

Ahhh, mid-late September baseball between 2 non-contending teams. 57 minutes to play the 1st four and a half innings so far. Tyler Alexander has only needed 63 pitches to get thru 5 IP and Means is at 45 thru 4 IP. By my count there have been only 3 PA thus far that went past 5 pitches and none past 7.

You can almost hear the ump, “Alright boys, let’s get up there and swing the bat!”
