Various News and Notes
Christin Stewart was called up to the Majors by the Detroit Tigers. Stewart is widely considered one of the top prospects in the Tigers organization. He hit 25 home runs with a .263/.363/.488 triple slash in 125 games in AAA this year. He could provide some decent power numbers down the stretch for power needy teams.

According to manager Joe Maddon, the Cubs will skip Mike Montgomery in the rotation. Montgomery’s start was rained out on Sunday and instead of giving him a go on Monday, they will skip him to give Jon Lester, Jose Quintana, and Kyle Hendricks in line to face Milwaukee. The Cubs have a two game lead over the Brewers heading into the week and want to put out there best pitchers for this three game set.

Ryder Jones will miss the rest of the year after suffering a knee injury on Sunday.

Jones will get a chance to make the team next year out of spring training, but it will largely depend on what the Giants do in free agency this off season.

Randall Grichuk left Sunday’s game after this collision:

He will be evaluated for a concussion and facial fractures. If he hits the DL, it could put the remainder of his season at risk.

A pitcher for today: Wade Miley @ CHC
I keep fading Miley, but he has been very good down the stretch. This will probably blow up in my face, but I will try and ride the hot streak.

A pitcher for tomorrow: Jason Vargas vs MIA
Vargas has been pitching well, but there is a fair amount of risk to him.
