Quick Hits
Alek Thomas was traded to the Dodgers for Jose Requena on Tuesday. Thomas was designated for assignment and will head to AAA.
Sean Murphy was placed on the 10-Day IL with a broken finger. He is expected to miss eight weeks according to manager Walt Weiss.
Murphy had just gotten back from the IL so this is disappointing. Sandy Leon signed a one-year deal and will become the backup until Murphy is back.
José Caballero was placed on the 10-Day IL with a fractured finger. There is no timetable for his return. Anthony Volpe was recalled to take his spot on the roster and is an interesting deeper league add.
Jacob Wilson윌슨 was placed on the 10-Day IL with a separated shoulder.
There is no timetable for his return. The Athletics recalled Michael Stefanic to take his spot on the roster.
Grant Wolfram was placed on the 15-Day IL with a strained back. Tyler Wells was recalled to take his spot on the roster.
Joey Bart was placed on the IL with a foot infection. There is no timetable for his return. Endy Rodriguez was recalled to take his spot on the roster.
Francisco Alvarez left Tuesday’s game with a knee injury.
He is expected to undergo further testing on Wednesday. Consider him day-to-day for now.
Brandon Nimmo left Tuesday’s game with an ankle injury.
He was diagnosed with a sprained ankle after the game. Consider him day-to-day for now, but this seems like something that would send him to the IL.
Various News and Notes
Daylen Lile went 3-for-4 with two home runs in the victory over the Reds on Tuesday.
Lile isn’t a huge power bat, but he does make a lot of contact and can do a little bit of everything. He has increased his walk rate to 9% this year which could help him move up the lineup if he can keep it up.
A.J. Ewing went 1-for-2 with three walks, a stolen base, and a triple in the win over the Tigers on Tuesday.
Ewing had a very eventful debut for the Mets and could have a pretty long leash in center with reports that Luis Robert Jr. is not recovering quickly. He doesn’t have a ton of power, but he is a good defender with a ton of speed. He has the ability to walk and was making a lot of contact in AAA before his promotion, so he has the chance to be this year’s Jakob Marsee if he can keep it up.
Bailey Ober threw a complete game shut out, allowing two hits and striking out seven in the victory over the Marlins on Tuesday.
It’s amazing Ober continues to do what he is doing considering he isn’t even averaging 90mph on his fastball. He did get a 43% CSW on the changeup, but at some point, the lack of velocity should come back to bite him.
Henry Bolte was called up on Tuesday by the Athletics.
Bolte doesn’t have a great hit tool, but was on fire at AAA, hitting .348/.418/.658 with 12 home runs and 17 stolen bases at AAA. He has a ton of raw power in the bat, but it tends to be mostly on the ground which limits the home run upside. He does have blazing speed and can walk, so if he can make enough contact, he could have some good upside in a great home park.

Ewing has peak Nimmo’s batting eye and Reyes’ speed. I’m trying to be rational here and not get overexcited and I know he’ll struggle at times but he’s impressive and should be the leadoff guy from the jump.
