Closer Chaos
Will Vest threw 1.2 innings, allowing one run on two hits and no walks while striking out two to register his first save of the season.
Kyle Finnegan entered the game in the sixth which was surprising but it was a high leverage situation. This may be more of a committee until Kenley Jansen returns.
Quick Hits
Elly De La Cruz was placed on the 10-Day IL with a hamstring strain. He is expected to miss 2-4 weeks. Edwin Arroyo was recalled to take his spot on the roster. Arroyo is a speedy prospect that is good defensively. He was hitting for decent power in AAA with 11 home runs and a .323/.383/.562 triple slash. We will need to see if he can hit for that type of power at the Major League level, but he is worth picking up in leagues on upside alone.
Chandler Simpson left Monday’s game after sliding awkwardly into second base.
Simpson received stitches in his lip and was reportedly having issues speaking. Consider him day-to-day at this time.
Josh Naylor left Monday’s game with back spasms.
Consider him day-to-day for now.
Various News and Notes
Tristan Gray went 1-for-3 with a grand slam in the victory over the White Sox on Monday.
Gray has played regularly since the Twins demoted Royce Lewis, but he has struggled with contact and hasn’t generated much power. He is mostly a deep league accumulator.
Sean Manaea threw five innings against the Mariners, allowing one run on one hit and a walk while striking out four in the no-decision.
Manaea came in after an opener and pitched well but wasn’t overpowering in the outing. He did have improved velocity of almost two miles per hour over where he had been in his previous start. He is worth streaming in deeper leagues to see if he can continue to build on this outing.

Pitcher for Today: Jonah Tong at SEA
Tong has pitched well so far and is in a great park.
Other Options: Eric Lauer 라우어 at ARI, Dustin May vs TEX, Grayson Rodriguez vs COL, Connor Prielipp vs CHW, Steven Matz vs DET.
Pitcher for Tomorrow: Walbert Ureña vs COL
There is risk with Urena and his control, but this is a great matchup against the Rockies away from Colorado.
Other Options: Troy Melton at TB, Stephen Kolek at CIN, Andrew Alvarez vs MIA.

“[Edwin Arroyo] is worth picking up in leagues on upside alone.”
Has his prospect status changed that much?
He was a 40 FV prospect and was ranked that high based primarily on speed and defense, with his hit tool set at 30/40.
He seems a lot like Andres Gimenez, who has not found a home in my shallow mixer.
That is probably a decent comp, but he is playing in Cincy which could help him unlock a little more power. Probably nothing more than an accumulator if he can make contact and play everyday, but that has value in a good home park
Agree. His underlying numbers at AAA were more good than great so I’m not expecting much. But, we’ve all seen a minor leaguer come up and just tear it up for a couple weeks to even maybe a month so I’m rostering him just to see what happens. Like Justin said, being in Cincy helps.
One note, he has MASSIVE platoon splits at AAA this year – .688 OPS vs LHP and 1.016 vs RHP. No real splits in 2025 so maybe it’s SSS, but something to keep an eye on. I watched a couple of his ABs yesterday and was not impressed, but that’s only 2 PA. His knock was a 94 mph line drive so at least it wasn’t a bleeder over the infield.
