Quick Hits
Dane Myers was placed on the IL with a shoulder bruise. There is no timetable for his return. Ivan Johnson was recalled to take his spot on the roster.
Corey Seager left Tuesday’s game with back tightness.
Consider him day-to-day for now.
Connelly Early left Tuesday’s game with elbow discomfort.
Early had looked good in the outing before leaving, but these issues are usually bad news. He stated after the game that he was “not too concerned,” but he is expected to undergo imaging on Wednesday for the issue. Consider him day-to-day for now.
Matt Chapman left Tuesday’s game with an abdominal strain.
He is expected to undergo an MRI on Wednesday. Consider him day-to-day for now.
Various News and Notes
Dansby Swanson went 3-for-4 with two home runs in the victory over the Padres on Tuesday.
Swanson struggled for the first two and a half months of the season, but has been on first for the last two weeks, hitting six home runs and stealing four bases since June 17th. He of course won’t be this hot the rest of the way, but he should be a much more serviceable option that he has been prior to the hot streak.
Cade Cavalli threw seven innings, allowing an unearned run on one hit and no walks while striking out 13 in the victory over the Red Sox on Tuesday.
Cavalli was brilliant in the outing, getting a 40% CSW or better on three different pitches. His performance was overshadowed by an incident that led to a benches clearing brawl during the fourth inning.
Cavalli has bounced between great and bad starts this season, but this was a step in the right direction as he attacked the zone and let his stuff do the talking for him. He has a tough two-start week lined up next week against the Astros and the Yankees at home, so he isn’t someone you are going to the wire for even after this great outing.
Joc Pederson went 1-for-4 with a home run in the victory over the Guardians on Tuesday.
Pederson has been on fire with five home runs in the last six games and six total in June. He is only going to be a strong side platoon bat, but when he is hitting, you want him on your roster. He has a lefty on the mound on Wednesday but the rest of the week is against righties and only one lefty is projected to face the Rangers next week.

It should be mentioned that the brawl was due to a racist comment made by Cavalli.
