Roto Riteup: August 15, 2018

The Roto Riteup likes to settle debates. Here is one from the comment section from a few days ago:

On the Agenda:
1. Yasiel Puig vs. Nick Hundley
2. Various News and Notes
3. Streaming Pitchers

Yasiel Puig vs. Nick Hundley
The Roto Riteup does not approve of violence, but we do approve of this GIF:

That being said, if you want to see the difference between how two different markets cover something like this watch these two clips:

Various News and Notes
The Rays acquired Shane Baz from the Pittsburgh Pirates as the Player to be Named Later in the Chris Archer deal. This is a nice throw in piece as Baz was the twelfth overall pick in the 2017 draft. He already has two plus pitches with the potential for two more above average ones. The biggest question about Baz is his command and control. It needs to improve for him to stay a starter.

Robinson Cano was activated off the restricted list after serving his 80 game suspension for performance enhancing drugs. He went 1-for-4 and played first base for the Mariners in their loss versus the A’s. With the Mariners not wanting to move Dee Gordon off of second base, the plan appears to be that Cano will play a number of positions including first base, second base, and third base. This will increase his value a bit in leagues where he gains multi-positional eligibility.

Trevor Bauer was placed on the 10-Day DL with a stress fracture in his fibula. Bauer was injured after being hit in the leg with a comebacker in his most recent start. Indians manager Terry Francona told reporters that there is no timetable for return.

Streaming Pitchers Options
A pitcher for today: Hyun-Jin Ryu vs SF
Ryu was great before hitting the DL and gets a Giants offense that can struggle versus left-handed pitching.

A pitcher for tomorrow: Jacob Nix vs ARI
Nix had an impressive debut and is worth riding until the league catches up with him.

DOn’t think Nix has much staying power? Will he hit an innings limit at any point either?
