If Cavan Biggio becomes 2B eligible pretty quickly into the season where would you place him?
France seems crazy low here to me
I love France, so I definitely don’t see it as being down on him. I even put France as my Hot Take for the Seattle Roster Review – https://fantasy.fangraphs.com/2021-roster-review-seattle-mariners/
could just be a wide tier? I love France and think he’s being overlooked because of the wrist injury…..buuuut….I wouldn’t take him over C. Taylor at 12. So I might have him at 13….but is there really much difference between 13 and 19? France is in that ‘cheap 2b starter’ or ‘premier MI’ band.
Feels like a pretty deep position, I can see myself waiting on 2B till the middle or end of a draft.
Seems deep when 2B is considered in a vacuum, but so many of these guys are eligible at other positions where they may be more useful.
With that said, I don’t disagree with waiting because only like 3 or 4 of these guys don’t have one or more huge questions marks like age, recent injuries, recent ineffectiveness, etc. I’d rather see the likes of Semien, Polanco, Marte, and others succeed on someone else’s team than fail on mine.
It ‘feels’ deeper than it is though. Look at the top 15 and not how many are eligible at SS or another position. This will add to their demand and suddenly you have Shoop as the next guy on the list for your empty 2B spot. And if you have MI as a position players are going to go even faster.
Jazz seems a little low for all the speed/power potential. Are you concerned about contact? Injury history?
Rankings without any notes on why (ie, Merrifield over Semien) don’t mean much — even this early!
I think he approaches his rankings with deep leagues in mind, with the understanding that you need to be top 3 in pretty much every category to win. In shallow leagues, these rankings can change quite a bit.
TBH, I feel like the vast majority of rankings come without notes. I like to do my ones w/the one-line commentary boxes but I’m saving them for later. I love Semien, but that park definitely worries me with respect to his power (and I know he showed good pop w/OAK in ’19) plus it’s a COLOSSAL lineup fall-off. I do think he can supplement some of the power drop-off with increased SBs, but I don’t see him overtaking Merrifield in that category so I lean Merrifield’s way.
And I’m also super-active in the comments to explain things when there are questions
Are we assuming Muncy misses the whole season? Just read an LA Times rumor that he’s expected to be ready opening day.
I have not read that LAD said anything about ACL. Only Muncy saying, “…acl take time to heel.” Not that He HAD a torn ACL. Kinda like Arron Rodgers, Bill Clinton, Barrack Obami, etc parsing the language.

I’ve just parked him off the rankings until further notice. I didn’t see anything about that rumor, but obviously I’ll be keeping tabs on him over the winter and I’ll be ready to put him back on once there’s clarity
Why does Ramon Urias gett so little love from the fantasy community?
As an SS/2B, Urias has solid Barrel% and usually manages solidly high BABIP. Although limited as a base stealer, the only major flaw that seems to justify his low rankings is his launch angle. Until otherwise, I don’t understand why he doesn’t get more love. Baltimore has a relatively generous stadium for home runs. What’s the deal?
I consider myself among his fans and the tier he’s in ranges up to Kim for me, but he’s a 28 yr old w/323 decent MLB PA on his ledger so I understand why there isn’t a TOONNN of attention. Love the park and think it could deliver high-20s HRs, but what else is it coming with?
Lux feels like the most probable player that has just as good of a chance to be top 5 at the position as bottom 5.
I think Marte has #8 (or even higher) POTENTIAL, but he has a pretty consistent history of being injured, and he doesn’t run a lot–think the next 4 guys have higher floors.
Hey Paul, thanks for these. I noticed you didn’t rank the Nats’ version of Luis Garcia despite his likely getting full-time ABs. Oversight? Or does he not make your top 55?
Dylan Moore is dead to Paul.
Thanks for the rankings, Paul. I notice that neither you nor Justin have Tony Kemp ranked at 2B. He’s coming off an 0.800 OPS season and is projected to hit atop the Athletics lineup next year. Granted, OAK is expected to have a weaker lineup in 2022 and 2B is very deep, but I thought Kemp would’ve appeared on the list somewhere. Thanks again!
I see you have Brujan at 29. Seems fair, considering the lack of pro experience. If everything broke perfectly for him, how high do you think his ceiling can get in 2022?
No Muncy in either the 2b or 1b rankings?
