Paul Sporer: How many do y’all keep? In principle I’m OK w/both

Daniel: So Tapia had a very quiet call up for a top 100 prospect. In a 12 team keeper, should I maybe ditch Odubel and snag him? Regardless, it’d be nice if he added 30 lbs of muscle.

Paul Sporer: I have some concerns about Tapia (particularly his bizarre 2-strike approach), but Coors covers a lot of ills. For the rest of the year, I’m OK w/him over Odubel, but going fwd I still prefer Odie

Brian: Start garcia v mil today?

Paul Sporer: what kinda league?

Johnny Mac: In a vacume, for a keeper league with OPS and K’s, would you take Bregman or Bennitendi?

Paul Sporer: I have a hard time finding much separation between the pair, but I’ll go Breg barely

Paul Sporer: Maybe Cotton and it’ll be deep league only, IMO

JT: Should we be worried about Bogaerts?

Paul Sporer: Kinda wanna see how he finishes first, tbh. If he’s back to himself in Sept., then Aug. is just a bad month. Does he have any nagging injuries? I’m not aware of any myself

Brett Lawrie’s Empty Redbull Can: Hey Paul – what are your thoughts on Danny Salazar for next year? He was a no-brainer keeper for me early on but the injuries are scary

Paul Sporer: That’s why no pitchers is ever truly a no-brainer keeper, tbh. Some you HAVE to keep because of great prices, but they’re SO volatile. The upside is still worth betting on even w/the injury worries

big boy: hey Paul now that we’ve seen the good and bad of musgrove, what do you see him doing in 2017?

Paul Sporer: Like a 3.80 ERA, low-1.20s WHIP, and average-to-slightly-above Ks (7.7 is SP avg)

Martin: Who finished 2017 ranked higher? Myers, Desmond, Springer or Kinsler? Standard roto league.

Paul Sporer: That’s fair. Or maybe not a wall, but another nagging injury or two. Or, ORRRR… and I say this as a big Myers backer… maybe his one great month was a bit fluky. OPS by month: .853, .597, 1.194, .695, .644, .575

Paul Sporer: Where’s the 20 SB coming from? He could go random Machado spike, but no reason to project it. I’d see more pop before a surge in SBs

Gest: Can you give your insight on Boyd? How legit is he and does he matchup well against Minnesota?

Paul Sporer: He’s a solid arm and was a big piece of that Price deal. He’s certainly over his head some right now. His LOB% since recall when he’s taken off is 90%. That’s obscene. He’s been good v. MIN twice during this run, though, so I do like him in that matchup. Just can’t let Dozier go yak on him

Friend: In my fantasy H2H playoffs trying to advance to finals. Dee Gordon is utterly useless right now and I may drop him if he doesn’t wake up this weekend. Candidates to replace him include Nick Franklin, Freddy Galvis, or Zack Cozart. I don’t necessarily need steals, just a productive hitter. Thoughts?

Paul Sporer: Cozart has been the worst results-wise of the bunch in the 2H, but he’s my pick for the final few weeks. His plate skills and power are just better

Leites: What’s the upside for 2017 Alex Meyer?

Paul Sporer: Solid closer

Greg: Have you examined wily peralta? He’s been awesome against stl and chc. Not sure if it’s legit given his track record but his competition level will be decreasing in his next two. Thoughts?

Paul Sporer: I haven’t. I’ll take a look

Paul Sporer: Still allowing too many homers, but he’s been solid since returning in early-Aug. I used to have some love for Wily, but I’m dubious right now

Brett Lawrie’s Empty Redbull Can: sold off most of my secondary assets with the thought that Salazar would be my 5th keeper (I wasn’t competitive but have Machado, Arenado, Cano, Cueot as keepers). Would you keep Salazar or any one of the following: Benintendi, V-Mart, Joc or Khris Davis

Paul Sporer: I saw your msg about standard 5×5, but how many teams?

Greg: How confident are you in Manaea post-injury against KC?

Paul Sporer: I’ve grown a little more cautious of non-stars off injury. I like Manaea a lot, but I’d still avoid this start outside of 18+ team mixers or any AL only leagues

zurzles: how legit is Chatwood out of Coors? best away ERA in the majors, but his K/BB is still garbage

Paul Sporer: Yes the K/BB is still booty, but his weak contact-inducing ways play better away from Coors. All contact is dangerous at Coors, but elsewhere it can really work.

Jason Derulo: David Murphy or Villar for the next 2 years? J Gray or Alex Reyes?

Paul Sporer: Villar and Reyes. You might mean Daniel, though

John: Hey Paul, not sure if you saw or if anyone told you about it but during Eno’s latest chat, a gentleman was describing a dream he had that made me chuckle: “Had a dream the other night. Was looking to buy a present for girl I had a crush on in high school. Couldn’t find anything good. Then the Sleeper and the Bust podcast came on. It was a video edition. And Eno was getting chased by a very aggressive fan yelling about Alex Bregman. The chase went on for a while, but I didn’t get to see how it ended cause Sporer cut in complaining about the audio quality. What does it all mean?”

Azizal: What do you think of Jose Peraza for 2017? He’s been crazy good these past few weeks. A lot has been BABIP driven (partly legit given contact/speed), but he’s also hitting for some power. Playing time could be an issue but he and Hamilton might be fun to watch together.

Paul Sporer: I think they like him so they’ll be finding ways to play him which can yield HUGE speed. I’m suspect on the hitting, but he can go .270 AVG/.310 OBP with throngs of SBs

Paul Sporer: Ya I can actually get behind it. It’s risky and I’d lean toward it NOT working if I had to make a projection, but the upside is substantial so go for it if you’re feeling it

Friend: Kevin Kiermaier over the last 30 days: .306/.352/.469. Am I wrong to be excited about this guy down the stretch?

Paul Sporer: No I don’t think you are. I had some excitement about him coming into this season and that injury stunted it

Brian: Re: garcia. H2h uses k/bb and qs in addition to era,whip,Ks

Paul Sporer: Ya, I’d go for it. Up and down year for him, but he’s consistently handled MIL

Phantom of the Chakras: Hi Paul. Was happy to hear you and Eno show some hope for Berrios. Did you see anything in his last start to move the needle? Yes, he got blown out again, but not until the 5th inning this time!

Paul Sporer: I didn’t see the recent outing. I do like only 1 BB, though.

Minty: The Baez/Moncada keeper question from the beginning was where we keep 20ish players per team.

Paul Sporer: Oh then I’m WAY in on both

Jeff: I’m thinking about keeping both Peraza and Villar in my unlimited keeper league, probably at 2B and SS, respectively. Would you recommend keeping speed, or should I be prioritizing power instead as that’s more important?

Paul Sporer: Power is more important, but these 2 are game-changing in speed. And Villar isn’t a total power dud. I’m OK keeping both.
