Paul Sporer Rotographs Chat – August 11th, 2016

Thanks so much for coming out, check out the transcript below!!

2:02
Paul Sporer: Hey y’all. We’ll get started in just a sec. Wanna pre-wire y’all that today is going to be a little short. Hour-hour & a half tops.

2:02
Paul Sporer: But it’s still going to be awesome

2:03
Phew: Hi Paul! Thanks for doing the chat today. Though he happens to be on my fantasy team, my heart sank simply as a fan when I saw Big Papi crumple in so much pain. Let’s say he was out for the season, does he still hang em up this year or prolong the retirement tour until the end of 2017?

2:03
Paul Sporer: I think he’d be more inclined to hang it up if this was a severe injury that kept him out

2:03
Paul Sporer: Sometimes those shin killers are temporary (a day or so) but they hurt so much immediately that they just collapse in pain and look like career-enders. Let’s hope that what this is

2:04
Sean: Thoughts as to when we might see Taijuan Walker get called back up?

2:05
Paul Sporer: They want him working on stuff and improving himself. I think it’s September. This was a bad demotion

2:05
Dr. Met: Do the humane thing and let’s get rid of poor Terry Collins. A bad week gone worse swept by Dbacks and forgetting he was the manager with his Bruce comments …

2:05
Paul Sporer: Tuffy Gosewisch lightin’ y’all up.. eeeek #fakeplayer

2:05
Carl Crawford’s Pet Brontosaurus: Wow, is this Noah Syndegaard going forward? Shouldn’t they just shut him down?

2:07
Paul Sporer: It’s certainly diminished. This is why I push back when ppl throw out stuff like “80% of this guy is better than just about everyone anyway” or whatever. No, it’s not. They can be a major leaguer still, but they will be markedly worse and that’s what we’re seeing w/Thor

2:07
Help Needed!: Which side do you expect will provide the better overall production across all five categories ROS: Kipnis/Andrus or VMart/Semien? Thanks!

2:08
Paul Sporer: Side B

2:08
Tony: I’m in an 11-team AL-only and trying to catch up in the W category. I have a great starting five and am simply looking for a few arms I can add that won’t hurt my peripherals too much as I chase more wins. Does Matt Boyd qualify as such a player?

2:09
Paul Sporer: Ehhhhh, it’s probably among the best available in an AL only so go for it

2:09
Phantom of the Chakras: Hi Paul. Since you watch regularly, anything special about Francisco “F-Rod/Fraud” Rodriguez’s recent collapse? Or is it just your usual being crappy kind of thing? Thanks!

2:09
Paul Sporer: Well he has the automatic -10% just for being a Tigers RP. That just happens it seems (shoot me!). Beyond that, he just keeps getting buried in counts and he’s toast in those cases

2:10
AL Pitching Coach: Are there any top rookie arms left to debut in the American League this year? More precisely, as someone looking for help down the stretch in a completely barren market (Gallardo is pretty much the best SP available on the wire), should I be running to bid on anyone during my next free agency period?

2:10
Paul Sporer: I can’t really think of anyone. Chat? You got an AL names that could come up from the minors?

2:10
GOAT: David Dahl is now tied for the longest hit streak to start one’s career (17 games), and is on pace to get a hit every game forever. Just thought you should know.

2:11
Paul Sporer: He da best

2:11
Sox Fan: Does David Robertson get the next save opportunity for the White Sox?

2:11
Paul Sporer: I’ll say no at this point. Nate Jones

2:11
Brad: Thoughts on Joc Pederson’s profile improvements this season?

2:13
Paul Sporer: You mean the lowered swing-and-miss? It’s good, but not game-changing. He’s still fanning a quarter of the time. I like Joc and at 24, I still think there’s more room for growth, but I haven’t seen a ton this year

2:13
Kerry: Here, I’ll do this: “Please include context with questions – league size/keeper/redraft/place in standings, etc.”

2:13
Jon: When you say “bad demotion” re: Walker, do you mean the Mariners shouldn’t have or it’s a bad sign for Walker?

2:13
Paul Sporer: It was for a bad reason. Like, they were pissed at him

2:14
Tim: You seem to love David Dahl. Is it something he does specifically (mash) or is it just stud prospect in Coors? What kind of impact do you think he can have rest of season? He’s en fuego right now.

2:14
Paul Sporer: The latter. Just a high quality prospect in Coors!! I think he can stay very impactful rest of way. Even the rookie wall can be somewhat mitigated by Coors and hell, the season might run out before he really even hits it

2:14
Gavin: Been waiting for this chat since yesterday!

2:15
Paul Sporer: Hey, thanks!

2:15
L-bean: Have you had the chance to watch Benintendi play yet since being called up? Small sample for sure, but he sure looks pretty good out there so far….

2:15
Paul Sporer: Dude’s a hitter and yea he’s showing it immediately. They all run into a cool-down period and he will, too, but he’s living up to the early hype

2:16
Dumpster Fiers: Alex Dickerson or Tyler Naquin?

2:16
Paul Sporer: Dickerson (sorry Tyler Rakin!)

2:16
New Polanco: Talk to me about Jorge Polanco. You a fan?

2:17
Paul Sporer: Real prospect for sure, but might be better real life over fantasy player

2:17
Big boy: Hey Paul, does dropping Tillman for Shipley make sense? ROS? Next year?

2:18
Paul Sporer: I don’t think I would

2:29
Paul Sporer: Hey y’all, maintenance came by unexpectedly, sorry for that delay

2:29
Brock: How are you doing in all of your leagues?

2:29
Paul Sporer: I’m calling it my Ricky Bobby season – if I’m not first, I’m last. It’s not QUITE just 1st and last places, but I’m either very much in it or nowhere near, very little in between

2:30
Dr. Met: never seen so many triples hit… combo of poor defense and lack of speed

2:30
Paul Sporer: Brutal, huh?

2:30
Clif Bar: Who do you prefer over the next 3 years in standard leagues – Ozuna or Mazara? What’s the statline for each of their ceilings?

2:33
Paul Sporer: Both have astronomical ceilings, so I’m not sure I have a statline in mind. I’ll take O over Maz

2:33
Clif Bar: What is Addison Russell’s ceiling?

2:33
Paul Sporer: He belongs in the group of stud SS we’re all excited about

2:33
Jon: Dahl or Sano in keeper?

2:33
Paul Sporer: Dahl for me

2:34
Daniel: With an OF built with CarGo, Holliday, Odubel, Ozuna, Kepler and Rajai: does Werth have a spot over any of them. It’s a long term keeper league, so I can’t ditch Kepler. Not that I want to.

2:34
Paul Sporer: I think you’re fine as is. Rajai been sneaky EXCELLENT this year

2:34
JD15: Do you think JBJ is a top 20 OF next year?

2:34
Paul Sporer: Not sure I get him that high, but I haven’t done a full assessment

2:35
Tistavia: Hey sunk costs guy!

2:36
Paul Sporer: Don’t even remember what you’re whining about, but man are you obsessed!

2:36
Ken: Thoughts on selling Villar? Riding a massive BABIP, plus he’s given me a pretty nice lead in SBs already, but I feel like no one is willing to offer me anywhere close to what I think he’s worth.

2:36
Paul Sporer: Ya if you can’t get what you want, it’s hard to sell. But you can’t be weary about his future and then expect someone to pay top dollar. You’re not the only one who thinks he’ll come down

2:36
CW: Should I be targeting Abreu in a keeper 10 tm league? what price if so?

2:37
Paul Sporer: Ehhhh, if you want. Price should be a good bit lower than draft day cost

2:37
Paul Sporer: a mid-round level

2:37
JD15: What are your fantasy thoughts on Hendricks? I think more useful in real life than fantasy due to lower K numbers, but in terms of ROS and next year is he a solid 3 or better?

2:37
Paul Sporer: Think you nailed it

2:37
Oliver: Not to pile on the Walker questions – I guess you just won’t answer it if you don’t want to actually 🙂 – but why do you think the Mariners are pissed at him? Seems like his struggles are foot-related but more to it apparently.

2:37
Paul Sporer: Didn’t they come out and say it was effort-related?

2:37
Cookie: I have nine (!) closers in 10-team redraft, but that means my 1B/3B slot is currently empty. I’m making a run for the top spot in saves, but does it even make sense to leave a positional slot vacant for an extended period of time?

2:38
Paul Sporer: Nah, it really doesn’t. I feel like you can’t possibly need that many closers to gain pts

2:38
Dan: Stop giving mets updates. Im DVRing it.

2:38
Paul Sporer: How is that on us? Get real.

2:38
Paul Sporer: BTW, it doesn’t go well. Don’t waste your time 🙂

2:38
Eric: Let’s keep the Dahl ball rolling, what do you predict his line is next season?

2:38
Paul Sporer: I have no idea.

2:39
Paul Sporer: I’m not a projection guy. Like 15 HR/25 SB

2:39
Seth: low end keeper deal for next year: suarez ($6) for bailey ($4) and Peraza ($7), which side of the deal do you take? maybe i should start a Reds-only league, none of this al/nl nonsense!

2:39
Paul Sporer: LOL sick Reds-only league! I think the duo is worth going for

2:39
Michael: Is smyly going to be worth keeping by the end of the year?

2:39
Paul Sporer: Maybe in suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuper deep leagues, but nah, not really

2:40
Neal: Going for it all this year in a 10-team std H2H. 5 keepers Trade Correa for Gerrit Cole and Chapman? Machado moves to SS, Lamb to 3B, Springer becomes my 5th keeper.

2:40
Paul Sporer: If that pitching duo is the game-changer you need, I’m in.

2:42
Corky: Expected numbers from Jankowski next season? would you take the over or under on .330 OBP and 50 SBs?

2:43
Paul Sporer: It all comes down to the PT, but w/a clear path, I can see it

2:44
Tistavia: If you pick 30 sleepers a year, you too can be a great prognosticator!

2:44
Paul Sporer: More like TiSALTvia. You’re getting your tears everywhere! And worse yet, no one knows why you’re crying.

2:45
Paul Sporer: But hey, keep adding these insightful tidbits from something no one knows anything about!

2:45
JD15: What is a better way to get more managers staying active until the end of the season: fewer managers (my league has 18), more playoff spots (currently 6) or more payout spots (top 2 and the 3 division winners right now get money)

2:46
Paul Sporer: More playoff spots would help. Penalties for finishing last (as long as you have a tight group, otherwise ppl will just quit). Maybe tie some draft or auction perk for finishing just out of the playoffs. In one of my leagues, 5th place (we have 4 money spots) gets top minor lg pick

2:46
Lars: What level of positional player could I command in return for Kenley Jansen in a saves-starved 10-teamer?

2:46
Paul Sporer: Probably a good one

2:46
Von Schloss: Anyone you would feel comfortable dealing Harper for in a 16 team keeper?

2:46
Paul Sporer: Trout? Arenado? It’s still gotta be a super-elite

2:46
Nolan: What’s your dog’s name again? Margaret? Eloise?

2:47
Paul Sporer: lol Charlotte

2:47
Kerry: Don’t feed the trolls, Paul. You and the rest of us are better than that…

2:47
Sonny: Hey remember when the Twins were going to demote Miguel Sano?

2:47
Paul Sporer: No….?

2:47
RR: Think Rodney holds the ninth for ROS? Though it should be Bearclaw

2:48
Paul Sporer: I realize Rodney has been rough w/MIA, but Bearclaw (Barraclough for those who don’t know) is out here walkin 6.5 per

2:48
Notfrank Menechino: Is Zach Davies sustainable? Need to make a call between him and Gausman … need wins, but mindful of rate stats, too. … Gausman has better team around him, but can’t seem to buy a win.

2:49
Paul Sporer: I still think I prefer Gausman. I buy Davies as a Hendricksian solid-if-unspectacular asset, but Gausman still has major upside

2:49
Jomaha: In a standard 12 teamer, who has more overall value between T Jankowski and J Harrison ROS?

2:49
Paul Sporer: Jank for me. Speed has been insane

2:49
Rob: In a dynasty league, what are Odor’s value comps in other positions? (that’s the broad way of asking, should I trade him away for Wil Myers if I need 1B, have Dozier, and am in championship contention?) The kid is 22 years old!!!

2:50
Paul Sporer: I really like Myers, so I can see it, espec w/Dozier to cover.

2:50
Gest: I just traded Cabrera for Smith and Williams. How did I do?

2:50
Paul Sporer: LOL

2:50
name game: Ryan Schimpf or Detlef Schrempf?

2:50
Paul Sporer: Oooh that’s tough. Can I go off the board and take Shemp from 3 Stooges?

2:51
Von Schloss: Jose De Leon or Tai Walker in a dynasty?

2:51
Paul Sporer: Walker, still

2:51
Biff: I have a 20 point lead in 10-team. Can I still lose?

2:51
Paul Sporer: Impossible to know w/out seeing standings

2:51
Borxa Stalking Dork: Do you see any impact call ups for September?

2:51
Paul Sporer: Going to research that soon for a piece

2:52
BIG PAPI: A shin injury won’t keep me down. I’m in the lineup today!

2:52
Paul Sporer: Beast

2:52
Friend: Does Bryce Brentz getting demoted show that the Sox are going to roll with Benintendi as an everyday OF going forward?

2:52
Paul Sporer: It doesn’t hurt. I think they brought Beni up to play for sure

2:52
Phantom of the Chakras: Who do you have ROS: Jose Berrios or a nail in my shoe?

2:53
Paul Sporer: Nail in all formats

2:53
Benny the Jet: Really think Cutch is done at 29? Can get him and J.A. For Hosmer and JCraw in 12tm roto dynasty. Have EE and sitting 12pts back of 1st.

2:53
Paul Sporer: I don’t think Cutch is done, no. Might not rebound this year, but the deal is worth a gamble

2:53
JD: My Osuna/J. Turner for his K. Bryant, 10 team mixer?

2:53
Paul Sporer: Bryant

2:53
Paul Sporer: You want more superstars in 10-teamers

2:54
JD: Sorry if this is a repeat, wasn’t sure if this went through: 10 team mix, just traded R. Osuna/J. Turner for K. Bryant. Thoughts?

2:54
Paul Sporer:

2:54
RR: Have you seen the doc ‘Fastball’? Pretty cool

2:54
Paul Sporer: Really good stuff! On Netflix now, too

2:54
Kevin: How’s a Moncada for Salazar trade look in a dynasty for a pitching starved team. Not looking at this year but over next 3 or so. Too much or not enough? 16 teams 31 man rosters.

2:54
Paul Sporer: I know Moncada hasn’t done anything, but I don’t love it. I just prefer to lean hitting in dynasty when looking several years out

2:55
Timmy’s Hips: Have 2 more moves in my H2H league and a lot of so-so streaming options. Who do you like this weekend? Davies v. CIN, Straily @ MIL, Tyler Anderson @ PHI, Chatwood @ PHI, Koehler v. CWS

2:55
Paul Sporer: Davies, Anderson, Straily, Chatwood, Koehler is my order

2:55
Paul Sporer: Just wrote up Tyler Anderson on the site, too, btw – http://www.fangraphs.com/fantasy/tyler-anderson-continues-to-deal-especially-at-home/

2:56
Dan: RE; Mets updates No need to get defensive. I just like to watch the game with out any info.

2:56
Paul Sporer: I wasn’t being defensive

2:56
Paul Sporer: I was kinda pokin at you for coming into a baseball chat on a baseball website and thinking it’s on us to keep you spoiler-free

2:56
Micah: Life advice! I have a noisy neighbor (runs a shop out of his garage and loud bandsawing all day disturbs my peace). Let it go or contact the authorities?

2:57
Paul Sporer: Oh man, that’s tough. Is it a complete nuisance to you? Maybe try talking to them first? Although then it’s obviously you who complained if you have to escalate. I say if it’s really bothering you from sleeping or other things, you’re in bounds to push it

2:58
John: Is it time to drop Gattis in a 14 team points league and just ride the hot hand at catcher for the ROS?

2:58
Paul Sporer: I’m OK with that. He is just homers and the AVG might cancel out the impact

2:58
Dr. Met: can happ keep up his fip beating amazing resurgence?

2:59
Paul Sporer: Ya if he keeps pitching like this. Because over the last nine, he’s not really crushing the FIP – http://www.fangraphs.com/statsd.aspx?playerid=7410&position=P&type=&gds=2016-06-22&gde=2016-08-10&season=

2:59
JD: Sorry Paul. I’ve never induced a facepalm before. But it was well-earned. I sent my question and looked away. Didn’t verify. Details. It all comes down to attn. to detail. Sigh. I will go stand in the corner for 15 minutes and think about what I’ve done.

2:59
Paul Sporer: hahaha, it’s no problem

2:59
Paul Sporer: I like jabbin’ yall 🙂

2:59
Dr. Met: Re: Dan if you’re a current Met fan, you already knew that outcome. Saving you the pain of watching the game man. Postgame is much more entertaining

3:00
JP: Jake Lamb will be a __ round pick next year? Bogaerts worth keeping in round 5? (10 league – keep 3)

3:00
Paul Sporer: 5th?

3:01
Paul Sporer: Whoops, 5th for Lamb. And yes on Bogy

3:01
Matt: Is Wainwright going to be a useful #2 next season as an affordable keeper (will be 21 – for reference, Price went for 36 in open market last offseason)

3:01
Paul Sporer: That’s not a bad price and I know this might not be much different, but i’d rather pay it at auction than keep him.

3:02
Paul Sporer: He’ll be 35 and we’ve seen it go sideways so it could happen again and be more long-term

3:02
Sonny: Playing C Martinez tonight @CHC?

3:03
Paul Sporer: I would understand if someone passed. I usually play my studs and he’s pretty studly (though he has walked 4 in 3 of his last 5 and was pushed around by ATL)

3:03
Chancelor Bennett: dynasty league, keep forever no cost. Brantley+Giolito or Lester+Darvish

3:04
Paul Sporer: That’s a pretty fair deal, IMO. I’ll go against my normal inclination toward hitters and take the established arms. I think there’s big risk on both sides

3:04
Bo: Hey Paul, are Ramos or Vizcaino droppable in a 12-team mixed redraft?

3:05
Paul Sporer: Ya, I’d say so

3:05
Jason: Would you consider keeping Devon Travis at $1 in a 12 team keep 7?

3:05
Paul Sporer: Ya I think I would. I’ve come around him a bit this year. He’s not a slam dunk in that format, but he’s worthy of real consideration

3:06
Pingu: Is hour hour and a half mean 2 1/2 hours? I got really confused at the beginning and thought the chat was over

3:06
Paul Sporer: ?

3:06
Paul Sporer: I just meant today will be 1-1.5 hours for the chat

3:06
Paul Sporer: So we’ve got about 20 more or so

3:06
Dan: RE: mets updates Reread what you wrote you were being defensive. I wasn’t expecting anything I was just asking.

3:06
Paul Sporer: No, I really wasn’t

3:07
Paul Sporer: Literally nothing defensive about it. Again, I was making fun of you. 🙂

Dan
2:38 Stop giving mets updates. Im DVRing it.
Paul Sporer
2:38 How is that on us? Get real.
BTW, it doesn’t go well. Don’t waste your time 🙂

3:08
Pingu: How do you see Daniel Murphy next year and how much would you feel comfortable paying for him in a 12 team OBP keeper league next season?

3:08
Paul Sporer: I feel pretty comfortable about the power surge and he’s always had really good skills otherwise. I’m in on Murph

3:08
Sonny: Zunino. I’m buying all the shares. I don’t know why

3:08
Paul Sporer: Eeek. I’m still seeing 1000 PA of garbage

3:09
Martok11: Which side do you take if you don’t need saves this year? Britton for Andrew Miller and Tyler Skaggs.

3:09
Paul Sporer: Miller every bit as good as Britton (and better in the eyes of plenty) so go for him and the Skaggs lottery ticket

3:10
Josh: Hey paul, would you trade bryce harper for cueto or kershaw? Thanks man, big fan

3:10
Paul Sporer: I don’t think so, no

3:10
PK: 10 Team dynasty hold forever. I have to make room for Urias. Drop one in order to do so: Bundy, Bauer, Shoemaker, Gausman, Odorizzi, Rodon, Snell.

3:10
Paul Sporer: Hmm, I guess your least fave of Gaus or Bauer

3:10
BK: Better keep forever player: Jonathan Villar or Orlando Arcia

3:10
Paul Sporer: Villar

3:10
Joey: Drop Kelvim Herrera for Rasiel Iglesias? Looks like Wade Davis could be back soon.

3:11
Paul Sporer: Not sold on Davis coming back 100% still, so I’d look to drop someone else

3:11
Paul Sporer: But I like getting Raisel

3:11
Dr. Met: schoop in a funk since the break… regression or just a temp move

3:13
Paul Sporer: I’d say just a cold snap

3:14
Dan: RE: Mets Updates How is that on us? Get real. I guess to me that sounds defensive and not funny. I guess I dont have a sense of humor.:)

3:15
Paul Sporer: I mean, can you not admit that it was a ridiculous request? I was def ridiculing it, but I wasn’t hating. It was a laughing jab on my end bc I thought it was silly to expect to avoid that in this setting

3:15
Christian: Breweries that I have to visit in Chicago?

3:15
Paul Sporer: Wrong chat, sorry

3:15
Snowflake: Do you think Papelbum hurt Harper’s neck?

3:15
Paul Sporer: Wouldn’t be surprised

3:15
Matt: Trea Turner, Josh Bell, Carson Fulmer, Alex Reyes, Lewis Brinson, Joey Gallo. All in my minors. Who do you think I might be able to call up *before* the season starts? Who might be inline for a mid-season production injection?

3:15
Paul Sporer: Could see Bell, Reyes, and Turner breaking camp

3:16
Paul Sporer: Gallo could, too, but I just don’t see him quelling those K issues

3:16
Snowflake: What round are you drafting Villar next year?

3:17
Paul Sporer: Late single-digit round? I don’t think he’ll cost as much as he produced this year

3:17
Rawls: Did you stop going to Breweries after your DUI?

3:17
Paul Sporer: hate you

3:17
Rob: Someone in my league just traded J. Fernandez, Urias, and Cingrani for Moncada, Colome, and Kintzler. How severe is my stroke on the 0-42 grade scale?

3:17
Paul Sporer: Not great, but that’s what huge hitting prospects can do to pppl

3:17
Paul Sporer: ppl*

3:18
Sonny: Aaron Judge worth a spec add? Think he gets Arod’s roster spot and what does he do w it?

3:18
Paul Sporer: Depends on lg size, but ya I don’t hate it

3:18
Seth: are pence’s days of solid OF2 done for? worth keeping at $14?

3:19
Paul Sporer: Probably and yes. Went from ironman to rash of injuries. It happens fast. But still a v good player. His OF2 came from piling up games, though

3:19
Michael: Billy Hamilton will be a ___ round pick next year

3:20
Paul Sporer: 9th?

3:20
Julie: Ozuna for taillon in a dynasty points league. Who ya got?

3:20
Paul Sporer: Ozuna

3:20
Wormser: What’s Freddie Freeman’s value in that bankrupt lineup?

3:20
Paul Sporer: It’s deflated for sure, espec. at a deep position

3:21
Phanatic: Is Wil Myers a top 24 player drafted next year?

3:21
Paul Sporer: Probably not, but 3rd-4th round? He’ll get drafted top 24 in some leagues (assuming he stays healthy and keeps performing), but not consistently

3:21
Guest: Whats your thoughts on Jake Thompson? Drop him for Barretto in dynasty?

3:23
Paul Sporer: Big arm with some mid-rotation upside, but probably needs a couple years to get there. Barreto is still just 20, but I’ll still go him

3:24
Julie: Thanks Paul!

3:24
Paul Sporer: Np!

3:24
I’m not your buddy, Guyer: Tyler Naquin finally hitting the wall after 2 hot months?

3:24
Paul Sporer: Ya, it had to come. This power was just insane

3:25
John: Borderline playoff team, but more a result of a bad start. Really strong the last 10 weeks or so. 12 team keeper. My Springer and Bregman for his billy Hamilton and Jb jr. I have a lot of other keeper options. Too little for Springer?

3:25
Paul Sporer: Feels light unless the SBs from Ham are just HUGE for you

3:25
JP: Need HRs and Rs badly. Who’s a good target for the last 1.5 months of the season for power??

3:27
Paul Sporer: That’s pretty vague. Tons of big power bats. Not sure if you mean wire or trade. Arenado, Edwin, Napoli, Dozier, Turner, Sano, Cargo, Seager, Donaldson, Carter, Bryant

3:27
Russ: is there hope that Ozuna will turn back into a rosterable player? 12team, 25 man roster

3:27
Paul Sporer: Ya, I think it’s more cold spell than fall off to irrelevance

3:28
Josh: Are you worried about Cueto?

3:28
Paul Sporer: Bc of the last 2 starts? Nah. 4 HR. But I don’t think it’s actionable (though I haven’t watched either, was he visibly hurt?)

3:29
Maris: Will Gary Sanchez outhit Evan Gattis ROS?

3:29
Paul Sporer: Who knows in such a small sample, but it’s possible enough to make the move

3:29
Phanatic: As a follow up then, all us equal, I’m down to Corey Seager/Odor/Myers/Polanco as my last keeper in a 12tm H2H. Leaning Seager but I like the SB ability from the others…

3:29
Paul Sporer: Def Seager for me

Bill: Forgive the long question because of league scoring details:

3:29
Bill: I have Urias ($5), Reyes ($1), Snell, ($3), and Bundy ($1) in a 16 team roto, 5×5 (OBP replaces BA), 5 keepers, keep 3 years, with salaries escalating $10/year ($500 cap). 5 keepers, but keeper slots are tradeable, so teams that went all in to contend, or otherwise have few good keepers can trade keeper slots during the year, or after, and I can accumulate up to 8 (they re-set after each auction), though I may or may not do that because of cost. There is also one minor league slot you can keep players in indefinitely, as long as they are in the minors, and it doesn’t use of one of your keeper slots. I currently have Moncada there. I am likely to keep Odor (for his second keeper year at $25-500 cap), and Sano (21, second year), and at this point Kepler (he’ll be $11). I also have Hernan Perez who looks like he could be worth keeping.Of the group of young pitchers, who do you see as good keepers, given the 3 year cap, innings caps, etc

3:30
Paul Sporer: Don’t keep Perez

3:30
Paul Sporer: I know those SPs are at great prices, but they’re all SUPER risky still. I’d rank em Urias, Bundy, Snell, Reyes right now

3:30
El Chubbito: Who gets the next Reds save opp?

3:31
Paul Sporer: Raisel

3:31
Russ: Benintendi for Musgrove fair value in a vacuum? (redraft)

3:31
Paul Sporer: If you’re getting Beni

3:31
Guest: What’s your take on Buxton at this point? How does he rank long-term compared to Dahl, Kepler, Benintendi?

3:32
Paul Sporer: He’s 4th for me. I’ve maintained that I’m not writing him off entirely bc it hasn’t been a huge sample, but there also hasn’t been anything particularly encouraging about his MLB work so I’m not bending over backwards to keep him around

3:32
El Chubbito: Gotta drop someone! Jake Barrett or Rasa Iglesias – who goes?

3:32
Paul Sporer: Barrett

3:32
Paul Sporer: Alright, I really appreciate y’all coming out. I mentioned early that we had to go a little shorter than normal today so I’m going to cut it here. Thanks so much!!!

3:32
El Chubbito: Wait, you really got a DUI? Hey, it happens, but details please!

3:32
Paul Sporer: NO!!!

3:34
Paul Sporer: They started that madness when grilling me about why I don’t drink. Everyone assumes something HORRIBLE when you don’t drink as if it’s just something that everyone should do. The DUI thing is a dumb joke, but there is a bigger problem beyond that where there are bad assumptions made when someone DOESN’T drink which kinda ass-backwards

3:34
Sandor Clegane: Is Logan Forsythe keeper material in any format since he’s at a shallow position?

3:34
Paul Sporer: I wouldn’t say any

3:34
Paul Sporer: 1-2 more quick-hitters then we out

3:34
Lucky: Better keep in an AL dynasty: Lindor at $8 or Altuve at $29?

3:34
Paul Sporer: Lindor. LOOOVE Altuve, but Lindor is a stud and not $21 worse

3:36
Maris: Thanks for the response Paul.

3:36
Seth: david peralta a good buy low guy for next year? can target him at $9 for 2017

3:36
Paul Sporer: You’re welcome, Maris

3:36
Paul Sporer: Depends on league size. I still like Peralta, but always tough to essentially lose a season to injuries. NL only, sure.

3:36
Paul Sporer: OK, bye for real! Thanks again for coming out.
