Paul Sporer Rotographs Chat – 6/24/16

Chat starts soon!!

2:15
Paul Sporer: Let’s get it going!

2:15
Kilt: Anything to see here with Steven Moya, or is this just the second coming of Carlos Peguero?

2:15
Paul Sporer: I think he can be better than Pegs, but my expectations are definitely tempered

2:15
Argo: Who do you like more ROS: McCullers or Bauer?

2:16
Paul Sporer: L Mc, but I haven’t investigated Bauer’s surge yet. I’ve like Bauer in the past and been burned by big runs, so I’m cautious

2:16
Zigs: Really could use a SP in ottoneu. My pitching staff is hurting. what is a reasonable return for A Russel

2:16
Paul Sporer: Not really sure the Ottoneu markets, I’m sorry

2:16
Freddie: Need help at 2B until Dee comes back in late July: Who do you like until then? Panik, Rendon, or Schoop?

2:16
Paul Sporer: Rendon. All 3 pretty solid, though

2:16
Minty: Profar or Baez 10 team 30 man roster OBP dynasty? Profar gets on more, but I don’t know where his HR/SB ends up.

2:16
Paul Sporer: Profar for me

2:16
Chris: I keep waiting for Whit Merrifield to stop being useful in my 12 team points league, but he just keeps putting up points. Is he going to keep doing this all season?

2:16
Paul Sporer: No, but just ride the wave

2:17
Argo: Do you think Nunez (who has regressed slightly) will continue to play everyday after Sano returns?

2:17
Paul Sporer: Ya they can’t bench him

2:17
Friend: Anthony Rendon is back to playing like 2015 Anthony Rendon after giving us 2014 Anthony Rendon for a month, now I’m worried about Anthony Rendon. What gives?

2:17
Paul Sporer: Few guys have their every up and down more overreacted to

2:18
Paul Sporer: He is still pacing toward 100 runs. If he goes .260/16/16/100/60, you’re fine and that’s just his pace

2:18
Ed: Is Ryu worth holding if you have another DL eligible player? And is it time to drop Nola?

2:18
Paul Sporer: Depends who the other guy is, but I’d try to hold him. And no to dropping Nola unless you think he’s hurt or something

2:18
Vern: Give up Hamels and Sam Dyson to land deGrom in 10-team re-draft?

2:18
Paul Sporer: No

2:19
Paul Sporer: deGrom not necessarily better than Hamels and certainly not so much to garner a solid closer

2:19
Hoboken Harry: In a H2H, do you like the steadiness of a Maeda or the high upside, high K guy like Archer, Snell, McCullers, or Duffy?

2:19
Paul Sporer: I feel like the high upside in general is usual more useful, but Maeda isn’t just floor. He’s got 9, 6, and 8 Ks in his last 3 and a sub-3.00 ERA. He’s the pick

2:19
Garth: Puig gonna be 10-team relevant ROS?

2:20
Paul Sporer: I wanna say yes, but I just can’t confidently say so

2:20
Paul Sporer: I still believe, but it’s waning

2:20
Bob Dobolina: Arrieta’s walks – know you cover it on the pod, but for those of us who haven’t gotten to it yet can you give a quick summary of how concerned you are?

2:21
Paul Sporer: There’s some concern for sure. But the fact is he couldn’t sustain 2H of 2015 and even with these hiccups, he’s been excellent. overall, nothing to freak about

2:21
Paul Sporer: Health is still my biggest concern with him overall bc of his history, but I don’t think he’s hurt rn or anything

2:21
Jaxson: Which DL SP do you like more when they come back? Darvish or Felix?

2:21
Paul Sporer: Darvish

2:21
Tim: Are you buying or selling JD Martinez when he comes back from this injury? Is this something where he can play but it’ll sap his power?

2:22
Paul Sporer: From what I’ve gathered, it isn’t something that should GREATLY impact him upon return, but the 4-6 weeks Detroit gave feels super aggressive. I’d plan for 6-8

2:22
D: Bauer or Taillon ROS in a 10 team Roto

2:23
Paul Sporer: I’ll go Taillon. Not sure I buy Bauer’s BB% improvements

2:23
Dan: Offering up Salazar in a 12 Team keeper mixed with thin pitching. Getting Cutch + one of Fulmer/Taillon/Urias/A.Sanchez back. The pitchers would be keepers

2:23
Paul Sporer: That’s hot

2:23
Paul Sporer: Pick your favorite of that group. They’re all stud prospects. I’d go Urias.

2:23
Jerry: Jon Gray’s dead arm scary enough to drop him in 12-teamers at this point?

2:23
Paul Sporer: He’s a streamer in 12-teamers no matter

2:23
Ted: Is Michael Wacha BACK or is this just a nice little run? Seems like he’s figuring things out and/or feeling better…

2:24
Paul Sporer: I’m a firm Wacha believer. I was deathly afraid of injury when he went sideways, but he’s been way better lately so maybe it was just dead arm phase?

2:24
Paul Sporer: I’m buying back in for now

2:24
Bob: Are Pineda and Mengden 12 team worthy ROS?

2:25
Paul Sporer: Streamers, though good luck identifying the best times to start Pineda

2:25
Mookie: What tier would you have Kyle Hendricks in your N.L. SP re-ranks right now?

2:26
Paul Sporer: I’ve got him top-30ish overall (so maybe around top-20 in NL since it’s deeper)

2:26
KD: NL only, 10 teams: Yoenis or Posey and Brandon Moss?

2:27
Paul Sporer: I’ll take the duo

2:27
Jerry: How do you rank Realmuto among catchers RoS?

2:28
Paul Sporer: Top-10 at least. C is so bad

2:28
Gary: In a Roto, I have 4 closers to try and catch up in saves. The worst is S. Kelley. Is he worth holding onto? I was thinking of dropping him and using that spot as a streaming spot.

2:28
Paul Sporer: if you’re trying to catch up, ride him out. I think they deal for a Yankee (or someone else if NYY stays in somehow) so it’s short-lived for Kelley, but he’ll be good while in

2:29
Saul Pporer: Should I stash Schwarber in Dynasty? if on 60day DL he doesn’t count towards salary cap?

2:29
Paul Sporer: Ya definitely.

2:29
Lona: Re-draft challenge trade: J-Up for Braun. Which side wins?

2:30
Paul Sporer: This is much closer than many probably think, but I think you still gotta lean Braun. J Up surging over his last 30 or so, though

2:30
Jake: Brian Dozier – Has he figured it out? Is he back to 20/20 (pro-rated for rest of season) with a .240 average again?

2:31
Paul Sporer: It’s a J Cole kinda afternoon

2:32
Paul Sporer: Re: Dozier, yeah his Apr-May didn’t really look like skills degradation so I’m not SO surprised that he regressed back to his level

2:32
Paul Sporer: J Up with another SB as we speak

2:32
Paul Sporer: He looks great and I know this is a little intangible, but seems to be enjoying himself quite a bit more now, too

2:32
Chris: Should I pull the trigger on a trade of my Will Harris and Jaime Garcia for D.J. LeMahieu? It is a 12 team H2H points dynasty. Currently rolling Lawrie and Merrifield out there at 2B and have Ramos, Casilla, Dyson and the potential closer Raisel Iglesias on my roster.

2:33
Paul Sporer: that feels expensive for DJLM, especially since he’s not SO much better than what you have

2:33
All Betts Off: Hey Paul. Very deep redraft. Very impt to me. Was offered Trout for Arenado (obv. most impt part of a larger trade). Who’s more valuable ROS and why?

2:33
Paul Sporer: Not sure there’s enough discernible difference not to just pick your preference between them

2:34
Paul Sporer: Arenado has every bit the potential to be the top hitter for 2017 drafts as Trout does. If you prefer the more across-the-board feel with SBs, go Trout. If you just want that power and run production to the hilt, go Arenado

2:34
Jaxson: Are you buying into the seasons of Ozuna, Myers, and Trumbo, or will they all face the regression bug soon?

2:35
Paul Sporer: yes, yes, and no

2:36
Paul Sporer: They’ll likely all regress SOME bc they’re out of their minds, but i buy the others over Trumbo. Just haven’t seen anything different in Trumbo’s to believe it’s more than a nice run. Power has never been in question for Trumbo, but I think he’ll have at least one more .239 month like his May

2:36
Eldridge Cleaver: Puig or Carlos Gomez ROS?

2:37
Paul Sporer: Puig, barely

2:37
Jaxson: Contreras is the (mostly) full time C for the Cubs by _____? I am guessing August.

2:38
Paul Sporer: He already is. Plan is Ross w/Lester, Montero w/Arrieta, and Contreras for rest. I can see a big cold streak for Contreras after the league gets that book going

2:38
Gorky: Huston Street looks awful. Think he keeps the gig?

2:38
Paul Sporer: Until he’s traded to setup somewhere

2:38
Friend: I need an arm in 14-team league and the wire is thin. Is Tom Koehler worth a claim? 3.00 ERA, 1.28 WHIP and 8.5 K/9 over the last month.

2:39
Paul Sporer: Even a fifth-starter has to put up a lot of good starts to have a high-4.00s, low-5.00s for a season so this is probably just his best work. He also has 4.8 BB/9 in that same month. Pass

2:39
DB: Paul! This awful 3 start run by Nola has me panicking a bit. I know it was unreasonable to expect him to keep up his gaudy pace from the first two months of the season but what can we expect ROS and does he need to be on my bench in a 16 team league until he posts another good start?

2:40
Paul Sporer: Unless there is something injury-wise, it’s probably just a bad run. He was SO good earlier. I think we’re freaking out more bc it’s 3 in a row. Sit tight for now. I’m not sure you can bench him in 16

2:40
Linus: Can Kyle Hendricks keep this up, even without an arsenal of wipeout stuff?

2:42
Paul Sporer: Ya he’s been beasting from jump street in MLB. I wouldn’t peg him as sub-3.00 full season, but 3.20ish with great WHIP and solid component numbers. I’m buying in more and more on him.

2:42
Ben: I’ve been holding Dee Gordon for a while in my H2H after someone else dropped him. I already have Odor at 2B so would be looking to trade Gordon once he’s back in a month. What type of bat/arm should Gordon return in a 10-team H2H league?

2:43
Paul Sporer: Whatever you can get that will help your team. These questions are really tough to answer with any specificity because player valuations vary so much from owner to owner and league to league. Just see if you can improve your team

2:43
JUp: Eno said I’m about to have my “Big Month”. What say you?

2:44
Paul Sporer: I’ve been behind you all season and you remember what Eno says? jeez.

2:44
Paul Sporer: Plus you’ve already had a big month (.850ish in L30 days)

2:45
Paul Sporer: The strikeouts were brutal, but everything else was on track for J Up. He was smacking the ball when he did make contact, running a little, etc… It’s coming together. Top-25 OF rest of season with a chance at top-15

2:45
Paul: What are your thoughts on Aledmys Diaz RoS? Since he’s cooled down is he droppable in a 12 team H2H or should I look to trade him as he’s SS elibigible in Yahoo?

2:45
Paul Sporer: You should always look to trade someone before dropping them if you think you can get something useful. I thought he was holding up more but when we checked in on him on the pod, he’s been pretty bland since April. So if nothing turns up on the trade market, I’m ok cutting

2:45
Argo: Do you see Michael Saunders as a true breakout player? His BABIP is in the .370s. I’m afraid to drop him but could use a little more speed, which he seems to no longer provide.

2:47
Paul Sporer: Jason & I loved him last year and then he ran over a sprinkler or some shit. The talent is there. The health is not. A .375 is high for sure, but you gotta look into what’s with it: 23% line drives and 38% hard contact (both career highs)

2:47
For a friend: Who closes in Cincinnati ROS?

2:47
Paul Sporer: Norm Charlton

2:47
Josh: I’ve got Sano and Reddick returning from the DL soon and have to drop 2 of the following in my 12 team redraft: Reddick, L Martin, Heyward, Valencia, Saunders. Which two get the heave ho?

2:50
Paul Sporer: Heyward for one and the other is really tough. I’ve long been a Valencia skeptic, but he’s RAKING. I honestly wouldn’t outright cut any of the others. Gotta hit the trade market first and see if you can 2-for-1. I know 2-for-1 is the advice a lot in these situations, but it’s easier in June when injuries have started to take hold

2:50
Josh: Jose Ramirez or Brad Miller as a flex bench bat?

2:50
Paul Sporer: Ramirez

2:50
Nolan: I own Thor. Should I seriously look for return on an elbow that is about to blow?

2:50
Paul Sporer: You’d be selling low right now. Worst time to sell. Just sit tight. If it pops, it pops

2:50
Mike: Drop Kyle Hendricks for Moya in 10-team if your pacing ahead of your GS limit?

2:50
Paul Sporer: No

2:50
Paul Sporer: Moya not 10-team worthy yet

2:51
Tim: Would you deal Wainwright to get J. Upton in a 14 team redraft?

2:51
Paul Sporer: Ya that’s a fair deal. both back on track

2:51
Paul: Tough question I know, but who’s a good SP target for Ryan Braun in a 12 team H2H league?

2:52
Paul Sporer: Not tough, impossible. Goes back to what I said earlier about the differences in trade markets from league to league. Everyone values players differently. You have to figure out what YOU deem a fair return.

2:52
Paul Sporer: I’m more than willing to help with trade questions, but both sides of the trade have to be in the question. I’m not going to guess what you can get for players. That’s an impossible task. I just want to save y’all time on asking those ones

2:52
Eno! Helloooooo: How do you feel about dealing Lucroy for a solid SP and rolling with a guy like Grandal or d’Arnaud?

2:53
Paul Sporer: If you need the pitching, it’s OK since the shittiness of C means not many teams are really getting big production there. Conversely, you do have a nice advantage on the field w/LuCroy so he might be worth just holding

2:54
Paul Sporer: I didn’t mean to waffle there. I’m 100% cool trading him if pitching is your need. But I wouldn’t trade him just to trade him

2:54
Jaxson: I’m stuck picking between Archer and McCullers each week. Any advice since it seems that it doesn’t matter the matchup, both seem capable of blowing up against any team?

2:54
Paul Sporer: Yeah they’re close on the upside-to-blowup potential scale. I’d just play the matchup w/em. Tiebreakers go to Archer for me because he has the better track record

2:54
Shawn: Weekly check-in on J-Hey and HanRam. Time to move on in shallow re-drafts and just ride guys on hot streaks?

2:55
Paul Sporer: I’m OK moving on from either in shallow leagues, but I’m trying to hang onto Hanley if possible whereas I’m fine cutting Heyward in just about any sitch

2:55
RRBR: Is Bud Norris relevant again?

2:55
Paul Sporer: Bud, I told you to stay out of my chats

2:57
Paul Sporer: Joking aside, I know he’s got the four good starts, but they don’t outweigh his history and I’m not sure there are any drastic changes impacting the run

2:57
Jon: Sano or profar and sonny gray for seager and glasnow?

2:58
Paul Sporer: Prefer Seager side even though I’m not super-high on Glasnow (espec. for ’16)

2:58
Nolan: ROS: Bryant or Stanton for my OF in a H2H points league?

2:58
Paul Sporer: Bryant

3:01
B: Signs of life from Keuchel? Is he getting back to must-start in 10-team leagues?

3:01
Paul Sporer:

3:01
Paul Sporer:

3:01
Paul Sporer: Gah, it didn’t get my timestamp on that second one… just ffwd to :58 for the joke

3:02
Paul Sporer: but yeah, that’s about how I feel re: Keuchel

3:02
DwyJon: How do you rank Guerra, Bauer, Chen, Snell and Conley ROS?

3:05
Paul Sporer: Interesting group. Not a lot of split between em. Conley, Bauer, Guerra, Snell (just think TB will put limits on him that hold him back), and Chen (loved him coming into the season, but he’s been brutal… just waaaay too many HRs)

3:05
Paul: I traded K Seager and Odorizzi for Blackmon and Jake Lamb in a 12 team H2H league…did I do ok or was I drinking too much of Eno’s Jake Lamb Kool-Aid?

3:05
Paul Sporer: You did well. That’s a solid trade on both sides

3:05
Maxamuz: Do you like bananas?

3:05
Paul Sporer: LOL

3:05
Jaxson: How much of a leash does Rosenthal have with the Cards?

3:06
Paul Sporer: I imagine it’s tightening, but the fact that he’s still in role tells us that he has something of a lengthy leash

3:06
Paul Sporer: I’m scooping Oh in leagues where I’m saves speculating

3:06
Desperate Dan: I swear, I usually don’t do this…In a 14 Team, keep 10 league where I’m “going for it,” am I being silly not jumping on a Hamels-Moncada for Glasnow-AJ Reed offer? I could use Hamels (literally any half-decent SP’s are rostered). I’m leery Glasnow is gonna be Thor in 2 years…

3:07
Paul Sporer: Not silly, but I’d do the deal. I don’t share your rosy outlook of Glasnow. His height can be a negative in that it makes repeating difficult which breeds control issues. Plus Moncada is arguably baseball’s top prospect. Love this deal for you, tbh

3:08
Wayne: Is Fielder done? Do you expect TEX to call up Gallo to take his place (or Moreland’s place)?

3:08
Paul Sporer: I doubt he just rots on the bench, so he’d have to hit the DL for something like that to happen. He’s been doing alright of late… though it’s sad when we’re hyped on a .744 OPS over 16 games

3:10
Randy: Fulmer or Cody Reed – ROS?

3:11
Paul Sporer: Fulmer

3:11
Zorak: Paul I am in DL Hell right now. Bautista and Fowler recently joined Sano, Brantley and VV and I only have 3 slots. Which two do I let go? Sano and Brantley were both keepers and it would make my ego very sad to cut bait with them.

3:12
Paul Sporer: OUCH! That is DL hell for sure. I think you gotta chop VV and Brantley. I hear you on the ego piece re: Brantley, but his outlook seems to get worse and worse. Is trading an option at all? To someone who might wanna spec and has a free DL spot? You’ll be selling low, but better than cutting

3:12
Dan: Short closers so speculating on Quality relievers. Will Smith, or one of the Feliz Boys (Neftali or Michael)?

3:13
Paul Sporer: not sure Michael Feliz can do enough to get it as Giles would prob get a look if Harris faltered. Neftali could get in if Melancon is traded (which would presume Pittsburgh re-tooling for ’17). So I’ll say Smith is best bet of those

3:13
Oddbal Herrera: Plouffe injured, our ‘where does Sano play’s problem is solved!!! Er, for now

3:13
Paul Sporer: LOL don’t be so happy about someone getting hurt

3:13
Paul Sporer: Those situations always sort themselves out

3:14
The Cincinnati Kid: I’ve got Posey, Gattis is available. Is Gattis at Catcher and moving Posey to 1B a bigger upgrade than C. Santana or Shaw?

3:14
Paul Sporer: No. Never run out 2 Cs if you can avoid it. The playing time hit isn’t worth it.

3:14
Pipes : Is Lucas Giolito a classically overhyped, all arm, no results guy or should I hold him in a keep 6 forever league? Is he worth holding for 2017 because I know he’s not doing anything in 16.

3:15
Paul Sporer: Ouch, no! No results? He has a 2.74 ERA and almost 10 Ks per nine in 325 MiLB IP. He’s 21. How about some patience? 🙂

3:25
Young Jeezy: am I silly for falling in love with Justin Upton again?

3:26
Paul Sporer: No, you’re not. BTW, this will close the book on J Up related Qs. I’m comfortable saying he’s pretty much back.

3:26
Tom: Will AJ Reed and/or Bregman be factors in 2016?

3:26
Paul Sporer: Not sure, tbh. I think Reed will def a get look and Bregman certainly could.

3:27
Eric: Best overall player right now? Is it still Trout? Or has he been supplanted by Kershaw or Altuve?

3:28
Paul Sporer: If it’s just MLB player, it’s Kershaw. Top position player can be Trout, Arenado, Machado, Altuve, Harper, Donaldson. Not sure there’s a ton of room between those guys

3:28
The Cincinnati Kid: Benintendi is starting to hit at AA–do you think he’s up this year or drafted late next year?

3:29
Paul Sporer: Could be called up… after he’s traded

3:29
Will: Which closer is more likely to lose his role – Dyson, Jeffress, Madson?

3:29
Paul Sporer: Madson

3:29
Stevie: Justin Turner ROS thoughts?

3:30
Paul Sporer: If he’s healthy, he’s gonna be good. I worried that the microfracture would impact him this year. It may have early on, but he’s raking of late.

3:30
Pauly: Hamels for LoCain?

3:30
Paul Sporer: solid deal!

3:30
The Cincinnati Kid: My league is switching to: IP, QS, ERA, WHIP, K, & Net Saves+Holds. Is punting the NetS+H a sound strategy and just loading up on SPs like crazy?

3:32
Paul Sporer: I mean, it gives you the 3 categories, but you’re still at risk for ERA/WHIP. An RP-focused plan would go the other way where ERA/WHIP/NSH are you strengths. I’d really just go for balance, tbh

3:32
Paul Sporer: but maybe that’s why I don’t win a lot of H2H lgs

3:34
Mike: Is it time to give up on Liriano in 8 team NL only leagues and/or deep 12 team leagues? I keep thinking he is going to rein in the walks, but they keep spiraling out of control.

3:35
Paul Sporer: Completely fine moving on from him. He looks turrrrible

3:35
Chad: How did Daniel Norris look today? Is he worthy of grabbing in a 12 team redraft or just a streaming option?

3:37
Paul Sporer: Only saw a bit as I went to lunch w/my sis & niece before this chat so I’ll know more later when I watch replay. He’s only a streaming option right now even if he looked great today, though

3:37
Nick: in a redraft – Thor or McCutcheon ROS?

3:37
Paul Sporer: Thor, even with the scare

3:37
Andy: What do you expect ROS from Cutch? Is he a buy-low? Is he hurt? Will be at least get some SBs?

3:38
Paul Sporer: If he’s hurt, he isn’t going to run. If he’s not hurt, I think he’ll be good-not-great (like 120ish OPS+)

3:38
Eric: Should we be worried about Melancon’d value w possible trade and FA coming up? With that in mind, trade Melancon (keeper in 11th) or Dyson (keep in 14th) for offense? Thanks

3:38
Paul Sporer: I feel like he’d be dealt to become closer somewhere, though. He’s been REALLY good in that role for several years. But if you’re concerned, then deal him.

3:38
Jaxson: Would .260 w/ 20 HR for the ROS be all that stunning for Trumbo (assuming good health of course)?

3:39
Paul Sporer: not STUNNING, but still very useful

3:39
Friend: Traded Conforto and Tillman for Justin Upton? Thoughts? Deep at pitching

3:39
Paul Sporer: That’s solid

3:39
RRBR: Stroman and Rodon enought for Strasburg in a dynasty?

3:39
Paul Sporer: Probably not if you’re offering it to Stras team

3:39
Eric: Yordano or Duffy the better KC starter ROS?

3:40
Paul Sporer: Gimme Duffy, though I see Yordano getting on track a little in his last 2

3:40
Guest: Well do you take Xander or Correa?

3:41
Paul Sporer: It’s kind of coinflippy w/these SS – Xander, Correa, Lindor, and Seager. I’m a huge Bogaerts fan so I’ll actually lean him. That’s pro-Bogy, not anti-Correa

3:42
Argo: Grossman or H. Kim? I was feeling grossman but now not sure

3:43
Paul Sporer: Grossman does more fantasy relevant stuff (even though he hasn’t run this year yet). Kim better real life than fantasy

3:43
KD: NL only- team in contention: $9 Soler or $18 Domingo

3:43
Paul Sporer: Domingo isn’t worth 2x, gotta go Soler

3:43
Jaxson: Interesting tidbit: Contreras playing 1B today for the Cubs. Nice to know in case Rizzo ever misses serious time.

3:43
Paul Sporer: Nice

3:43
Eric: Kendrys Morales’ hot streak a sign of a strong second half or just smoke?

3:44
Paul Sporer: I’m always careful to not just use BABIP as a luck-o-meter, but his was .211 coming into June despite a near-identical hitting profile to last year so I think he was unlucky. I’d buy

3:45
tk: Pillar or Leonys ROS?

3:45
Paul Sporer: Leonys, but I see Pillar creepin

3:45
Ryan: I’m rebuilding in a 20 team dynasty and got Severino basically for free today. What should I have for dinner to celebrate?

3:45
Paul Sporer: tacos!

3:45
Football: EICKHOFF or SMYLY ?

3:47
Paul Sporer: if I could be assured any measure of health, it’s Smyly in a runaway. Obv that’s not possible so Smyly’s continued health risk brings it much closer, but I’ll still take him

3:47
ryan: Shoemaker is a top ____ American League pitcher ROS?

3:50
Paul Sporer: Pushing 15?

3:50
Argo: Are you buying or selling on Dae Ho? Has kinda meh eV for his HR/FB but avg FB distance is good

3:50
Paul Sporer: I like the punch, but is the PT there? I’m buying in appropriately sized leagues

3:51
Eric: Does McGee take the job back from Estevez?

3:51
Paul Sporer: Yeah

3:51
zeek: Assuming his heel injury is minor and he comes back this weekend, is Ezequiel Carrera a sneaky good pick up over the next month?

3:51
Paul Sporer: Ezequiel, did Bud Norris tell you to do this?

3:51
Lgose: Traded Keuchel for Gausman several weeks back… Should I look to re-acquire Keuchel throwing in an additional piece, or buy a different pitcher?

3:51
Paul Sporer: Maybe distance yourself from both at this point.

3:52
ldorf: Even though Luhnow said they’re in no rush to call up Reed, we could still see him debut before the All-Star break, yes?

3:52
Paul Sporer: I have no idea

3:52
Chad: The only other pitcher on my team that came out for dehydration was Garrett Richards, I hope Fulmer doesn’t have the same fate!

3:52
Paul Sporer: Me too!!!!

3:52
Figgis: have you seen the Archer scavenger hunt?

3:52
Paul Sporer: I have not

3:53
Paul Sporer: Doolittle, Giles, Benoit, Salas

3:53
saves vulture: Who are the top guys American League guys to roster right now if you’re hoping for future saves?

3:53
Paul Sporer: Whoops, answered the question before posting it, lol

3:53
TurboSloth: Odds that Edwin Diaz is closer by year’s end. He’s throwin supa hot fiyah

3:54
Paul Sporer: He is, but gotta leapfrog Benoit

3:54
astro boy: I love me some Alex Bregman, but I can’t wrap my head around how he will be part of the Astros’ starting lineup this year. They halted the plan of transitioning him over to 3B after a day or two, no longer leaving him with a viable path. Am I wrong to think that as good as he’s played in AA, there’s a chance we don’t see him until September barring a major injury?

3:54
Paul Sporer: I’m with you for sure

3:54
Jomaha: What should expectations be for Tyson Ross be when he comes off the DL?

3:54
Paul Sporer: I think he’ll be his usually solid self w/elevated WHIP bc of walks, but good ERA and plenty of Ks

3:54
Eric: Is Street gonna hold the LAA job? Would Bedrosian be next?

3:55
Paul Sporer: Think it’d be Salas

3:55
Paul Sporer: Bedrosian is a darkhorse, but Salas has the 8th rn

3:56
Getting Too Old for This Whit: talk to me about cameron maybin. started going oppo a little more and both walks are up and k’s down. what would expect from him ROS?

3:57
Paul Sporer: Definitely has a better approach, but it’s pretty empty batting average. Even with his speed, a .388 BABIP won’t last

3:57
natsfan: Please rank for ROS in 10- team AL – only 5×5: Kim Grossman Rasmus Kepler Lowrie

3:59
Paul Sporer: Rasmus, Grossman, Kepler, Kim, Lowrie

3:59
The Dream: How deep of a league do you pick up Jeff Hoffman in if he gets the call?

3:59
Paul Sporer: 20

3:59
Bart: Is Steve Moya a pick up in a std 12 team mixed league?

3:59
Paul Sporer: Nah, probably too shallow unless you have some huge reserve roster

4:00
Whats that Odor: What does Piscotty ROS, currently have him at 1st, is Napoli or Shaw a better option at 1st

4:00
Paul Sporer: .280/12 HR… not typical 1B power, but I prefer him to the others

4:00
Bart: With AJ Griffen returning from the DL, who should I drop if any, I Kennedy, Roark or Moore?

4:01
Paul Sporer: Kennedy, but he and Griff aren’t TOO far apart

4:01
For a friend: Darn, Norm isn’t available in my ww

4:01
Paul Sporer: Rob Dibble out there?

4:01
RRBR: Puig or Heyward ROS? Points league where walks count. No penalty for K’s.

4:01
Paul Sporer: Puig. Didn’t you ask that already? 🙂

4:01
Colin: How many innings can we expect out of Michael Fulmer going forward? I feel like now is the time to deal him.

4:01
Paul Sporer: Well maybe not NOW after the lame start.

4:02
Paul Sporer: I’d say another 80 or so? So 13-14 starts

4:03
Pepperoni: Pomeranz (RP eligibility) or Hendricks in 10 team NL Only points keeper league?

4:03
Paul Sporer: Pomy

4:03
Bart: I was offered Miggie for my Harper. Can you think of any good reasons to make the trade in a12 tm h2h mixed 5 player keeper lg?

4:04
Paul Sporer: Love Miggy, but I’d just sit tight w/Harper

4:04
Mike: Keep forever dynasty league – Margot or Lamb? Beltre or Paxton?

4:05
Paul Sporer: Lamb and Beltre. I know it’s keep forever, but I’m not getting too ahead of myself on Paxton and starting to plan beyond this year w/him

4:05
Eric: As a Red Sox fan I’d ask you to please not joke about Benintendi being traded. Thanks

4:05
Paul Sporer: LOL I can see if it they get some huge trade going

4:05
Jackie T. : Can Fister keep being a QSs machine, or is it better to roll with higher upside like Paxton in a QSs league?

4:06
Paul Sporer: Fister has been throwing well and he usually puts up the innings, but I’d still go Paxton. i rarely pick a pitcher specifically for QS

4:06
Paul Sporer: Gonna wrap up here shortly, y’all. Not quite a marathon, but I’ve got some things that need to get done

4:06
Pipes : Patience on Giolito? Nice K rate but he’s also sporting a 2:1 K/BB rate which is not really major league ready. He turns 22 in two weeks which isn’t young for his level. So yeah, in a thousand dollar buy in league, my patience is running thin.

4:07
Paul Sporer: Maybe you shouldn’t have drafted a 21-year old who had all of 47 IP at Double-A coming into the year if you NEEDED him to perform then? Seems like more of an expectations problem than anything Giolito is doing.

4:07
SoupDawg: Paul, how much patience should I have with Starlin Castro? In 14 team points lg my wire options include Peralta, Jose Ramirez, and Brad Miller.

4:08
Paul Sporer: He hasn’t been great, but are the others all that much better? I still lean Castro

4:08
Billdo: You more of a Twitter or Facebook guy?

4:08
Paul Sporer: Twitter

4:08
Alex: Not really a fantasy question but why do teams insist on playing someone just because they payed them a lot like a Ken Giles in April or a Prince Fielder? Seems like a sunk cost to me, do they not get that?

4:10
Paul Sporer: Eh, I don’t really see it that way. First off, it’s not just bc they paid for ’em. Giles’ skills are still pretty strong. He’s had some AWFUL outings to be sure, but he’s hardly a sunk cost. Plus, you need more than a month or two to just get rid of these guys. This isn’t fantasy baseball. Let’s just be honest, the teams know a fuckload more than we do about these players, Doesn’t mean all their choices are 100% right, but if we were in charge, we’d have a much bigger fail rate that actual GMs

4:10
Dan: Does Lucas Giolito get points for being the nephew of the guy who created “Twin Peaks?” If not, why not?

4:10
Paul Sporer: LOL yes, that counts major in my league

4:10
PAul: Castellanos? Whats the dealio?

4:11
Paul Sporer: With due respect, what the hell does that mean? Are you wondering why he doesn’t still have a .950+ OPS? Hopefully that’s obvious. He wasn’t going to hit THAT well for 6 months.

4:11
Russel Martin: Am I back? Top 5 C again?

4:12
Paul Sporer: Mostly back, yeah. And prob top 5 though that’s as much to do with the dearth of viable C

4:12
B: Paul! Traded away Nola and Velasquez for Carrasco. How’d I do?

4:12
Paul Sporer: Solid!

4:12
John C.: Rendon or Carpenter ROS?

4:12
Paul Sporer: Carp

4:12
Pedro Cerrano: Who breaks out first, Stanton or McCutchen? Does Big Papi come back to Earth? Should Sox fans be worried about his feet?

4:12
Paul Sporer: Stanton

4:13
Pedro Cerrano: What is a good stat or combination of stats to look at that most people will ignore?

4:13
Paul Sporer: No one really ignores the good stats anymore

4:21
Harold Reynolds: I ignore good stats all the time.

4:21
Paul Sporer: Touche

4:21
Pipes : Fair point on Giolito and my expectation, but his stats are not screaming star at this point. My bad for investing in the consensus #1 pitcher.

4:22
Paul Sporer: It’s not your bad, but just being the #1 prospect doesn’t guarantee you anything in the immediate term. And don’t get too hung up on MiLB stats. The bigger thing is that he’s blocked off right now as their rotation has been v good

4:22
OddBall Herrera: Do you really think the juice is going to be worth the squeeze on stashing Bregman? Seems like we could be waiting with baited breath for a guy who’s going to go 12/10/.275 the first year he’s up

4:22
Paul Sporer: Not really, no. But I don’t usually invest in prospects all that much

4:22
Paul Sporer: OK y’all, thanks so much for coming out. I’ll try to arrange the schedule for a huge chat next week.

4:22
Paul Sporer: Until then, take care!

On Jd Martinez I literally just suffered the same broken elbow 2 weeks ago. Doctor said my recovery is abnormal but I am exactly 100 pct fine as we speak. No pain, no strength loss, no anything.
