Paul Sporer Baseball Chat – March 17th, 2017

Chat starts shortly!

2:07

Paul Sporer: Hello, everybody!

2:07

Paul Sporer: It’s going to be a tight chat today, I’ve got to record with Eno, but we’ll dominate this hour-plus.

2:10

Paul Sporer:

2:10

James C: How do I go about figuring out inflation in a new auction league?

2:10

Sean: I’m in a 12 team mixed redraft. HR, RBI, R, SB, OBP and QS- Am I crazy to target Villar round two? I have the second pick and hoping for KB, Villar, and Story the first three rounds. Thanks!

2:10

Paul Sporer: That’d be an awesome trio! I’m in on Villar for sure.

2:10

ForRicherOrforSporer: 6×6 H2H league with QS (instead of W) and K/9. Keep $2 Manaea or $1 Cotton?

2:11

Paul Sporer: It’s really a coinflip there, tbh, with the costs being so close. Who you like best personally? Go with him.

2:12

Steve: Got caught price enforcing on Rendon and now have 3 3b in Arenado, J Turner, and Rendon. I can start all three but could use Lf help. Trade Turner for Mazara and Quintana? League really emphasizes offense with OBP/SLG and QS/HLD/SV.

2:12

Paul Sporer: I really like Turner, but that’s a pretty solid offer, so let’s get it done!

2:12

Mike: I have my draft this Sunday. Can you please rank the order in which you would take the following three outfielders: Yelich, Cutch, Wil Myers. H2H with R, HR, RBI, SB, OBP as categories. Thanks!

2:13

Paul Sporer: Just as you have them listed

2:13

luke: Was shocked to find out recently about Stu Pomeranz. Like finding out about the Berenstain Bears.

2:13

Paul Sporer: lol

2:13

Clarkers at the Bat: 11 team, NL only roto 5×5 – last keeper spot down to Grandal $11, Lamb $14, Rupp $3 and Nova $6

2:15

Paul Sporer: Think I’m going Lamb, though I love Nova this year so keep an eye on him at auction.

2:15

bl27: Hi Paul, some chance to see Blake Snell start in AAA with his walk issue ?

2:15

Paul Sporer: Definitely, he’s not guaranteed anything

2:15

Alex: Are you afraid of drafting Rockies players in dynasty league in fear they will be traded, at least Cargo, Blackmon, DJ

2:16

Paul Sporer: No, not necessarily. I’m not much for the “guess who’s going to get traded” game. Cargo might be the only concern, but I also don’t think he’d fall apart outside of Coors

2:16

Mike: Buying Jesse Hahn in deep formats?

2:16

Paul Sporer: Interesting speculation. I like that Eno got him for a buck in AL LABR

2:16

Tom Tango: Can Cub fans be any more sensitive after just winning the World Series? Saw your “dispute” with some of them over the Show rankings last night, laughing listening to their perceptions!

2:17

Paul Sporer: It was literally ONLY Cubs fans who responded to those, stanning for every Cub they thought was robbed. I knew Cubs fans at large (this isn’t a dig at every single one of you) would become as insufferable as Red Sox fans AS SOON AS THEY WON. It was the easiest call ever. Vegas had it at -5000.

2:19

Paul Sporer: This dude couldn’t tell the lists were for a video game and he was mad about it

Paul Sporer
@sporer

@StoolFrederic You realize this isn’t my list, right?
17 Mar 2017
2:19

Cy: Drury. i’m crazy right? 2b/3b/of and he’ll be hitting 2nd? i’m not drinking, btw

2:19

Paul Sporer: I’m big on Drury this year

2:19

Bob: Hey Paul! I don’t know much about Benintendi. I can keep him for the next 3 years. Is he one of those “better real life than fantasy” players or should be tear it up fantasy wise?

2:19

Paul Sporer: I don’t think he’s going to be a fantasy beast this year, but you have to keep him for the next three bc the talent is great and he can certainly develop into a big fantasy asset

2:19

Tim: Ryu has looked pretty good so far. Think he makes a nice late-round flyer?

2:20

Paul Sporer: Definitely. Really hope he can stay health

2:20

bdgooch: Matt Moore or Zach Davies?

2:20

Paul Sporer: Moore for me

2:21

Clarkers at the Bat: Is it better to keep small dollar regulars in an 11team NL Only league, or better quality players at higher prices. for example, Drury at $1, vs Lamb at $14.

2:22

Paul Sporer: I think people keep too many $1 guys just BECAUSE they are $1. Your example would NOT be such a case, but I’m speaking generally. Torn on your example bc I really like both. Can’t keep both?!

2:22

Mark: You have picks 2 and 4 overall, who are you taking and why?

2:23

Paul Sporer: 2 of Arenado, Altuve, Goldschmidt, Bryant… because I want to win. I take Arenado at 2 after Trout and assume Betts goes 3, but he’s obv part of the list if he doesn’t

2:23

Dave Kingman: Feeling nervous about Seager’s back issue and having him as a keeper. Should I be worried?

2:24

Paul Sporer: Understandable to be nervous, but not much you can do. You still have to keep him in just about any case.

2:24

NotSeeTV: i thought u handled yourself exceptionally well the other day when DP was trolling/trying to goad you on twitter. Is this a common thing, people wanting to beat the ‘expert’? Do you think people would still be this aggressive if you guys were referred to as ‘analysts’ rather than ‘experts’? Finally, what do you think of NFBC style drafts?

2:26

Paul Sporer: Apparently he has a history of it. I like NFBC leagues a lot, I wish I could afford to do more of them. Maybe it makes me some kind serf, but $300 is a pretty decent sum to me. I already play in a league with that entry fee and he’s acting like I should be in multiple $150-300 NFBC leagues.

2:26

Scooby: Thanks for the chat, Paul. Thoughts on Brandon Kintzler as a closer? Who’s the Nats closer? Any other fringe candidates for saves early on for those of us who let others spend draft picks on the more solid guys?

2:27

Paul Sporer: Don’t like Kintzler much, but he should get the first chance and Glen Perkins can’t stay healthy. Thought my dude Trevor May would take the role, but then he was starting and looking sharp before going down with TJ. So Kintzler could hold up due to lack of viable options. Kelley should start closing in WAS, folks speculating on Blake Treinen and Koda Glover, though

2:27

Joe: Is Joe Ross or Jon Gray droppable for Shoemaker or Eichoff?

2:28

Paul Sporer: Most lateral movement there, but I could see dropping Ross for one of em http://www.fangraphs.com/fantasy/march-rankings-update-starting-pitcher/

2:28

Tim: Bellinger or Brinson for dynasty?

2:29

Paul Sporer: Gah, so tough. I think I’ve said Brinson to this in the past, so I’ll stay there, but it’s razor-thin

2:29

Mick: My secret recipe for this year’s auction draft is to go big on Trout and Harper and then draft Napoli, Holliday, Morales, and Beltran. Am I on to something or just on something?

2:29

Paul Sporer: Viable, but you’re asking a lot of four old vets so you might have to replace them for parts of the season

2:29

Josh F.: Did I waste a pick on Adam Ottavino?

2:29

Paul Sporer: No, I don’t think so

2:29

MB: 7×7 obp/slg, C/1B/2B/SS/3B/3OF/2UT, 11 Teams — Abreu or Cutch? Already keeping Freeman, Altuve, Schwarb (C elig), Bregman and Noah, thanks

2:30

Paul Sporer: Cutch, but it’s close

2:30

Cy: March 17th, call your shot. in 6 months, the no. 1 player will be?

2:30

Paul Sporer: Nolan Arenado

2:30

Mike: 5×5, 260 budget, 10 teams. . Keep Five for this year only. 1 Colome, 1 Paxton, 1 Baez, 4 Tanaka, 3 Joc Pederson, 10 Cole Hamels, 23 Dozier, 25 Kluber, 33 Scherzer. thx you ,

2:30

Paul Sporer: Pax, Tanaka, Joc, Dozier, and Kluber

2:31

tip tipson : AL ONLY 12 Team $260: Carassco – am i keeping at $15 still or replacing him with a guy like Dyson at $15 who can get me SBs or Trumbo at $18.

2:31

Paul Sporer: I think $15 is cheap enough to still take the gamble.

2:31

keepers due today!: Hey paul. Panicking about keepers. 5X5 standard 12 man league ($300 at auction). I have 2 spots left (already keeping betts, villar and story). Do i keep $10 odor, $,7 turner, $20 arrieta, or $23 verlander. Which 2 (leaning odor/arrieta)? Orrrrrrr do i deal odor for $12 darvish and buxton (who wouldn’t count as a keeper). or do i deal odor for $22 blackmon? i know that’s a lot but what can i say? I’m paralyzed by fear and can’t decide.

2:32

Paul Sporer: Not sure which Turner, but I’d keep either at $7 so that’s OK. I think I’d do the Odor trade that gets a free Buxton so Turner and Yu.

2:32

tip tipson : In NL only who would you rather have this year and going fwd Peraza or J. Bell?

2:32

Paul Sporer: Peraza’s speed too enticing

2:33

Big Tuna: If you had to keep only one at the same value: Stroman, Salazar, Fulmer?

2:33

Paul Sporer: Hey yall, straight rank questions can be answered by looking at the latest rankings – http://www.fangraphs.com/fantasy/march-rankings-update-catchers/ that’s the C one, but a link to the SP one is in there

2:33

Paul Sporer: I’m not trying to be rude, but it just saves some time

2:34

Big Tuna: Would you trade 18th round Mazara for 7th round Dozier in an OPS league?

2:34

Paul Sporer: I don’t think I would, tbh. Just like 2B a lot this year

2:34

Dudley: hi paul! any hope for stephenson figuring it out this year?

2:34

Paul Sporer: Some, but it’s waning for sure

2:34

Coop: What are your thoughts on Watson closing in PIT? Think he’ll hold the job down, or are Rivero and Hudson legit threats?

2:36

Paul Sporer: I think he’s on some shaky ground – http://www.fangraphs.com/fantasy/early-thoughts-on-the-developing-closer-market/ – one thing that works in his favor is that they have other solid lefties so they won’t feel the need to have him available for key LH at-bats earlier than the 9th

2:36

Big Tuna: How much do you think the hand injury will affect Desmond’s power?

2:36

Paul Sporer: Can’t really know until we see him, but I’ve moved him way down. I’m so bummed. Now planning on four months of Desi

2:38

bob in the ATX: Hendricks for Dahl in a 1st year 20 team dynasty?

2:38

Paul Sporer: Not bad, feel like person getting Dahl could get a sweetner bc of his injury, but I get that it’s a different calculus in dynasty

2:38

South Carolina Steve: So how high would you draft DJ Lemahieu in a 5×5 league with OBP, 1B, 2B, 3B, added. I used the auction calculator and nearly all the projections have him as a top 25 player with those league settings. Would I be crazy drafting him before Springer?

2:38

Paul Sporer: No, it wouldn’t be crazy. Seems that kinda system would favor him nicely

2:38

Cy: not a question. Just let eno know he is crazy with today’s sandwich.

2:39

Paul Sporer: LOL

Eno Sarris
@enosarris

I might be a crazy person #sandwich #bb
17 Mar 2017
2:39

dog: BearClaw or Capps in a 12 team 5×5 roto? I already have Giles, Ramos, and Betances

2:39

Paul Sporer: Love Bearclaw, but Ziegler gets 2nd crack at that job if Ramos falters, so go Capps

2:39

natsfan: Would you go over $2 for any of Cron/Valbuena/Y.Escobar in 10-team AL only?

2:40

Paul Sporer: Ya, I could go a couple more on Cron and Yunel. Mayb $3 for Valbuena

2:40

Big Tuna: My league has 3 RP slots and is NOT a holds league. Is there any value to the strategy of getting two top tier closers and filling the third RP slot with a high inning non-closer who has great ratios? (Brach, Hand, etc.)

2:40

Paul Sporer: Definitely, I think that can work for sure

2:41

Paul Sporer:

2:41

Big Tuna: Would you trade 17th round Salazar for 19th round Duvall in an OPS league?

2:41

Paul Sporer: No

2:41

JD15: Currently figuring out the last details of a trade (18 team H2H): my Dahl (keepable for 4yrs), M Fulmer (4yrs) and Gerrit Cole (1yr) for Trea (4yrs) and Stroman (3yrs). I would only be able to keep Dahl and Fulmer if I don’t do the trade. How does it look?

2:42

Paul Sporer: I think it’s viable. Trea is obviously the centerpiece. It works both ways, IMO

2:42

tip tipson : (AL ONLY) Thoughts on Sam Travis & Tony Kemp, this year and future?

2:43

Paul Sporer: Kemp

2:43

Ed: 12 tm 5×5 roto obp instead of avg. 280$ Last keeper $24 Pollock, $5 a Miller, Bettances or $1 Puig, Castallanos

2:43

Paul Sporer: Pollock

2:44

RAGS: In a keeper league where inflation is nearly 40%, how high above a player’s actual value are you willing to keep someone? Would you overpay 10% to keep someone? Or let them go back into the pool for someone else to overpay? Or does it entirely depend on who’s likely to be available?

2:44

Paul Sporer: It’s the last part, tbh. Depends what the market will have supply-wise. But I’m not afraid to keep someone 15-20% over “normal” value if there’s 40% inflation

2:44

Big Tuna: Folty and Wach have both looked really strong this spring. Are you in on them as SP5s?

2:45

Paul Sporer: I’ve been driving the Wacha bandwagon for years and I jumped on the Folty one this winter (not sure who drives it, I’m here in the back just getting acclimated)

2:45

the Incredible Hulk: Last Keeper?? 14 team, 5×5, 10 keepers max $300 budget, with $5 Annual Increase:
Leaning $5 Dyson to lock up the premium on steals. Also can chose from– $45 Price(SCARY), $10Duvall, $5Meadows, $7Estrada, $10Musgrove, $5Bedrosian, $5Betances, $11Krod?
Current 9 Keepers eats up $206:
1. E5 $31
2. Altuve $31
3. Villar $15
4. Longoria $22
5. Cruz $30
6. Donaldson $25
7. Benintendi $10
8. Cueto $20
9. Cole $22

2:46

Paul Sporer: Agree with your Dyson. Dyson, Villar, Altuve lock up SBs for you

2:46

Bill: Spent all my money on my infield, can I get by with an outfield of Herrera, Eaton, Buxton, Piscotty, and haniger?

2:47

Paul Sporer: Ya, you can. Plus you could find a breakout OFer

2:47

Jimbo: Last round pick: Gsellman, Lynn, or Ryu?

2:47

Paul Sporer: Good trio there. I’d probably go Lynn

2:47

Bill: Who are your favorite 1B sleepers other than Bird?

2:47

Paul Sporer: Just Bird.

2:48

Paul Sporer: LOL… kidding — Holliday, Joseph, AJ Reed

2:48

Tommy: Ignoring saves potential, who are the AL RP with great K and ratios I must own, aside from Miller and Betances? Many thanks!

2:49

Paul Sporer: Brach, Nate Jones, Bruce Rondon

2:49

JD15: How do you approach fantasy team names….? In my first year of ottoneu. Vlad and Boujee is the current front runner, but I usually like to use a name of a player on my team.

2:49

Paul Sporer: Swear to god I’m listening to Bad and Boujee rn

2:50

Paul Sporer:

2:50

ichirosan: Who do you think earns most saves in Cincy this year?

2:50

Paul Sporer: Raisel

2:50

Clarkers at the Bat: Alex Dickerson is having disc issues. This must cool his sleeper status considerably.

2:51

Paul Sporer: Absolutely. Out 3-4 weeks with it

2:51

Matt: I traded a $14 Kinsler for $7 Pederson and $12 Teheran. Pederson and Teheran double after this season. Kinsler after next. OBP/TB/RBI/R/SB Roto.

2:51

Paul Sporer: Perfectly viable trade!

2:52

Buxton : What are your thoughts on Buxton this year? Worth taking over Odubel?

2:52

Paul Sporer: Post-hype prospect, totally understand taking him over Odubel if you’re a believer.

2:52

St. James: Paul – 30 team dynasty roto Billy Hamilton gets me two top 100 prospects, including one in the top 25, yes or no?

2:52

Paul Sporer: If the market will yield it. You can’t MAKE the market bend to your will

2:52

Matt: Keep up to three (and give up drafts picks 1-3 for each keeper). I’m keeping Goldy easy. Is G Sanchez a good second keeper, or should I throw him back and pick in the second round?

2:52

Paul Sporer: Depends who you’d keep in his stead

2:53

Tommy: I think we all know the real March Madness is ShiNTS……

2:53

Paul Sporer: Don’t get the ShiNTS! (perfect timing after a Gary Sanchez question) http://www.fangraphs.com/fantasy/market-watch-dont-get-the-shints/

2:54

O Dizzle: If your starting lineup for fantasy baseball has 9 hitters and 8 pitchers, shouldn’t you spend a ratio of 60/40 on hitters/pitchers instead of 70/30?

2:54

Paul Sporer: There are many who question the 70/30 split even with a traditional 14 hit/9 pit lineup

2:54

Colin: Maikel Franco or Odubel Herrera in standard dynasties?

2:54

Paul Sporer: Franco

2:54

O Dizzle: Do you think Andrew McCutchen can bounce back from last years disappointment?

2:54

Paul Sporer: I do, in fact

2:54

Neal: More likely that Schoop progresses or regresses?

2:55

Paul Sporer: I actually think he stays flat, but between those 2 options I’d say regress since he played 162 last yr

2:55

Can of Corn: 1 keeper league, should I go with Corey Seager or Trea Turner?

2:55

Paul Sporer: Turner for me

2:55

dog: More Life supposed to come out tomorrow. Are you a new Drake fan?

2:56

Paul Sporer: A new Drake fan? I’m an old Drake fan (and get shit on a lot for it, lol). I’m pretty psyched, I hope it’s out at midnight since I’m a night owl and could listen while writing and gaming tonight

2:56

Not That Zimmer, man: Does Zimmer become fantasy relevant this year or do the K’s hold him back this year and his whole career?

2:56

Paul Sporer: Really keeping an eye on Bradley Zimmer in CLE. Greg Allen, too. Naquin could be demoted by May or June this year

2:56

Mike: Gimme a position player and pitcher that you’re going out of your way to get in standard leagues, your “gotta have” guys if you will.

2:57

Paul Sporer: Addison Russell and James Paxton

2:57

Paul Sporer: Big on Marcell Ozuna in OF, too

2:58

Pie: How would you feel about targeting Broxton on a team that already has Trea and Altuve?

2:58

Paul Sporer: I’m cool with it. SBs easy to trade

2:59

Max: Trade Murphy for lemahieu and Brinson? Keeper format and can stash brinson in my minor league slot

2:59

Paul Sporer: Yeah, that works

2:59

Paul Sporer: A couple of you have asked your question 5+ times. I hate you.

2:59

Jay: Carlos Martinez’s velocity spike move the needle on his value at all for you?

3:00

Paul Sporer: Already had him top 20. I did move him to 16 in latest update, but that was more due to reshuffling of others as opposed to specifically Martinez hype, but I like him

3:00

Hector: Paul, my draft is on Monday. I’ve spun around a few strategies in my mind and keep going back and forth. What do you normally do when this happens? I feel like I should just go with my gut.

3:00

Paul Sporer: Def go with your gut. If you can’t settle on a firm plan, take what the draft gives you

3:00

Gavin: Sorry about Desi Paul, your enthusiasm had me right up there with you. 🙁 is all I can say, really.

3:01

Paul Sporer: Such a bummer, right? Not just the fantasy aspect, either, I just hate when these dudes get hurt. Always want to see these guys at their healthiest

3:01

Mike: I really enjoyed your Fading Aces article. No question here, just thought it was a darn good piece.

3:02

Paul Sporer: Thanks so much! I will take that opportunity to link it for anyone who may’ve missed it – www.hardballtimes.com/fading-aces-why-the-non-kershaw-studs-arent-worth-it/

3:02

Max: Thoughts on hosmer this season in a contract year? Will he live to Freddie Freeman type numbers is he more along the lines of Brandon belt 2.0

3:02

Paul Sporer: Meh, more Belt than Freef

3:02

Hector: Harper. Harper. Harper.

3:02

Paul Sporer: Top 5 this year. Honestly should’ve included him on that question where someone asked who I’d take at picks 2 and 4 bc he’s RIGHT there

3:02

Wes: Rockies beat writer said he expects Holland to be named the closer opening day. What should Ottavino owners be doing? Should I make the swap if the only guy I could drop is Ottavino?

3:03

Paul Sporer: I know :vomit: … not bc I don’t like Holland, either, I just love Ottavino

3:03

Paul Sporer: You can make the switch bc it’s not like Holland is some Jeanmar Gomez type

3:03

the Incredible Hulk: Lots of iffy closers it seems this year…. I know always volatile, but does it make sense to spend the extra few dollars on the “top” tier guys down to at least those that don’t have the perceived competition(i.e. Herrera , Allen, Krod, etc)

3:03

Paul Sporer: I hate spending in-season resources on closers, so I generally linger toward to the top of the pool. In other words, yes.

3:03

DB: Paul, I need speed and help in OF. Would you prefer Broxton and Fowler?

3:03

Paul Sporer: Brox if you want speed

3:04

Luke: Does Eno like sandwiches too much, so that his judgement is blinded at how ridiculous putting cheetos on a sandwich actually is?

3:04

Paul Sporer: Cheetos are p lit, though

3:04

Guest: Do you think Schwarber can stay healthy?

3:04

Paul Sporer: Depends how much he catches. I just don’t think he’s as good as so many others do. How is he different than Miguel Sano?

3:05

macattacker: Is your 2017 Starting Pitching out yet?

3:05

Paul Sporer: On hiatus for 17

3:05

Ben: Thoughts Mitch Haniger? Getting rave reviews in spring training

3:06

Paul Sporer: We’re contributing to that hype! http://www.fangraphs.com/fantasy/market-watch-dont-get-the-shints/

3:06

Slow Draft Picks: My pick in round 11/12 of my 12 team roto league draft, choose 2 of: Odubel, Lorenzo Cain, Buxton, Justin Turner. Thank you!

3:06

Paul Sporer: This has been asked about 25 times

3:06

Paul Sporer: So I wanted to post it and then ignore it.

3:06

Paul Sporer: Posting a million times does NOT help your case. The queue fills up instantly these days and I do my best to get to things as fast as possible.

3:07

Beau: I am reading Junior Guerra has multiple plus pitches. What do you see?

3:07

Paul Sporer: I like Guerra. Watched a few starts last year and was really impressed. Great splitter, solid velo. Quality late rounder

3:07

Gavin: Greg Holland hitting 95 in his debut was real nice.

3:08

Paul Sporer: Ooooh, I missed that. I figured he’d add to his velo from that ugly November showcase. If he’s popping big velo numbers, then I’m back in

3:08

Slow Draft Picks: My pick in round 11/12 of my 12 team roto league draft, choose 2 of: Odubel, Lorenzo Cain, Buxton, Justin Turner. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

3:08

Paul Sporer: You’re the worst person.

3:08

Mt Lebo Blue Devil: Ed Nunez keep his job all year? Is c arroyo worth a $1 bid in no only?

3:08

Paul Sporer: I think he will get PT all year, yeah. Arroyo could be an OK $1 if you can reserve him after

3:08

Ben: Can Robbie ray breakout be a top 30 sp?

3:08

Paul Sporer: If he sharpens his command

3:08

Slow Draft Picks: My pick in round 11/12 of my 12 team roto league draft, choose 2 of: Odubel, Lorenzo Cain, Buxton, Justin Turner. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

3:08

Paul Sporer: You’re bad at life.

3:08

Jimbo: Goldy or Harper pick #4 ?

3:09

Paul Sporer: Flip ye olde coin.

3:09

On Tilt…: if “punting Catcher” (spending $1,) ok with betting Hedges to start the season, or gotta $1 guy you like better?

3:10

Paul Sporer: Not a bad $1 gamble, if those AAA gains are legit, he’s playing all year

3:10

Mike P: Glover has looked really good for the Nats, but I just don’t see “Dusty” (of all the managers) giving the closer role to a rookie.

3:10

Paul Sporer: Completely fair

3:10

Matt: If you had to choose between Goldy and Harper, but didn’t happen to have an old coin, how would you decide?

3:10

Paul Sporer: LOL

3:10

Paul Sporer: Take Goldy

3:10

Sam: Can Tyler saladino hold off moncada is it only a matter of time he gets called up?

3:10

Paul Sporer: I think he can, actually. Saladino will get PT and I just don’t think Moncada is ready

3:10

Can o’ Corn: Is Urias worth drafting knowing he won’t start the season with the Dodgers?

Paul Sporer: Depends on league and roster sizes

3:11

mario mendoza: What’s Gregory Polanco’s triple slash upside? I haven’t seen an OPS projection north of .800. I’m tempted to go get him based on hype, but in a league that doesn’t value steals, an under .800 OPS ain’t great.

3:12

Paul Sporer: Upside is .360/.520 IMO

3:12

Jay: You bumping Carrasco down with his swollen elbow? I’m stuck between chancing it with him or playing it safe with T. Frazier or even Quintana as my 8th keeper (12 team H2H).

3:12

Paul Sporer: Ya I bumped him down. I’d go Frazier.

3:12

Gavin: Would you rather read a plus plus question five plus times or five plus questions plus one more once?

3:12

Paul Sporer: lol

3:12

Mark: Give us one thing we need to know going into drafts that will give us an advantage

3:13

Paul Sporer: Ignore ADP for the most part and take the guys you want where you’re comfortable taking them. Don’t be dumb and take like Dylan Bundy in the 2nd round bc you love him, but if it’s got a 20th rd ADP and you like him best in the 16th, take him, bc it only takes one other competitor to merk you and cost you your breakout player

3:13

kdallas: Rupptown Funk Gon’ Give it to Yu . . . yay or nay?

3:13

Paul Sporer: LOL yes

3:13

Brian Kelder: Mike Montgomery worth a flier as this years Kyle Hendricks? Better than Lackey?

3:13

Paul Sporer: Not so much this year’s Hendricks, but I like his skills for sure. I’m taking the flier.

3:14

Emma : Sorry, pitching is Quintana/Gausman/Roark/Sonny Gray/Nola/Urias, RP are Betances, Dyson, Barraclough, Diaz. Did i do okay?

3:14

Paul Sporer: The RPs should cover your SP Ks deficiency, but you’re going to need to stay active on the wire. Gray has me worried, Nola has healthy risk, and Urias won’t pitch all year. It’s a workable foundation for sure.

3:15

Brian: In a deep keeper what to make of Almora? Looks to be a 450 PA at least guy. Him or Bundy? (20 team keep 11)

3:15

Paul Sporer: Prefer Bundy, but Almora’s defense will get him burn. Not sure it’s 450 PA, though

3:15

jack : Your big on drury – would you take him over Thames in a points league

3:15

Paul Sporer: Ya, I would

3:15

JD: What do you think of Maeda in a keeper league? Have we already seen his best?

3:15

Paul Sporer: I like Madea a good bit, tbh. I think he can stay strong another couple years. Would take Taillon in the long-term, though (re: your other Q about them)

3:16

Paul Sporer: Just a few more, y’all

3:16

Lupe: any glimmer of upside w/ Luis Perdomo?

3:18

Paul Sporer: Ya, I think so actually! Solid velo, 3 pitches, and opportunity

3:18

Dave: Any chance Tanaka can get to 200 Ks this year?

3:19

Paul Sporer: Definitely. If he continues to stay healthy, Tanaka is an unquestioned stud. His only has issue has been if the elbow will fully explode. It’s a pretty big issue mind you, but the talent isn’t in question at all

3:19

Moltar: Lamb: overcooked (first half) or undercooked (second half)? Or do we get it perfectly medium?

3:19

Paul Sporer: Undercooked was bc of a lingering hand injury IMO, so healthy Lamb yields something closer to 1H all year (35+ HR)

3:19

Sterling Mallory Chris Archer: Do you play vs any of the chatters in The Show?

3:19

Paul Sporer: I do sometimes on twitch (twitch.tv/psporer24)!

3:19

Sam: Can Daniel Norris stay healthy and finally put it all together?

3:20

Paul Sporer: As a Tigers fan I sure hope so! Love his skills, definitely a late rounder for me

3:20

Mike: Am I going to regret not keeping Dylan Bundy at $4 in Ottoneu?

3:20

Paul Sporer: Not some major regret, no, but it would’ve been nice

3:22

Paul Sporer: OK y’all, I gotta bust out. I think I’m going to reschedule my chat for next week because I’ll be in NY for Tout Wars this time next week. So stay tuned for that. Hit me up on Twitter with questions (@sporer), the aforementioned Twitch streams where I stream MLB The Show and OOTP (twitch.tv/psporer24), follow my NY exploits on Snapchat (psporer)… also lots of my cool dog. Have a great week!

3:22

Paul Sporer: Weekend*… cool life, Paul
