Paul Sporer Baseball Chat – July 28th, 2017

1:38
Paul Sporer: Good day, everyone!

1:38
LudeBurger: Paul-eeee!!

1:38
Paul Sporer: yooo

1:38
Chris: Would you trade Scherzer for Arenado straight up in a dynasty? Have some depth at SP with MadBum, deGrom and Thor when he comes back.

1:38
Paul Sporer: Ya I’m good with that

1:38
seth: Keepable Brett Gardner for unkeepable Scooter + Luis Castillo, who you got?

1:38
Paul Sporer: Reds

1:40
Max: As a Red Sox fan it hurt my feelings a little bit, but I dealt Xander for Aaron Nola in a SABR points league just before that HOU start. Right move ROS?

1:40
Paul Sporer: Yeah I can definitely dig that. It’s a really fair deal long-term, too

1:40
Blake: Paul – Thank you for the great information you provide fantasy owners each year. In a H2H Points Re-Draft, which side in this trade: Nova, McHugh, and Fedde or Cody Allen, Merrifield, and Jeff Hoffman?

1:40
Paul Sporer: You’re welcome! Gimme side B on that one

1:40
Hiroki : Thoughts on Whit Merrifield?

1:42
Paul Sporer: I buy what he’s doing. Two-hit Whit stays lit. I think the spd and AVG are most legit

1:42
Tommy: TB Rays season run differential, innings 1-5: +86; innings 6-9: -75. No question, just sadness.

1:43
Paul Sporer: Wonder what the Tigers breakdown looks like over the entirety of their 2006-17 window. They weren’t competitors EVERY SINGLE year during that, but bullpen was an issue throughout

1:43
Tony: What do you think about guys like Stroman & Fulmer going forward? Seem to have good stuff, but relying on control/contact-management instead of strikeouts. Can they be 200 IP, 3.50 ERA guys like this?

1:44
Paul Sporer: Absolutely. Not every successful start has a K-per-inning. I also think Fulmer has K-per-inning stuff, but he focuses more on efficiency. We’ve also seen Stroman’s strikeouts spike at times suggesting some upside for him, too. So I don’t rule out either adding to their K rate, but even if not, they’re both very good

1:44
Tony: Best/worst case for Sonny Gray fantasy owners? Basically anywhere aside from Coors gets him away from Oakland’s defense!

1:45
Paul Sporer: He gets away from OAK defense, but also loses OAK foul ground. Dodgers would probably be best case.

1:46
Braník Best: My long time ottoneu 5×5 league has become lop sided bc of inactive owners. The commissioner wants a one-time “soft reset” with every team only allowed 10-15 keepers and it to be approved by a majority of owners. For something that severe, there needs to be more than 50% approval, right? Plus Ottoneu has a built in system to penalize teams (arbitration).

1:46
Paul Sporer: I’d say you need 100% with stuff like this or at least consensus among the active group and then replace the inactives

1:47
Tony: What do you expect from Donaldson RoS? More Ks than usual, maybe a bit less power? 260/360/500?

1:47
Paul Sporer: I think that’s a safe bet to keep expectations in check. And elite JD isn’t out of the question

1:47
CamdenWarehouse: The EW facebook group dug up the Fangraphs Franchise Player Draft.  Many chuckles were had at your (and others’) trashing of Carson picking Trout at #3.

1:47
Paul Sporer: Link it! lol that’s hilarious

1:47
seth: Berrios looks to be walking people again…worried, or just a bump in the road?

1:49
Paul Sporer: I think bump in the road. I’m not really concerned about getting waxed by LAD and HOU, that’s basically expected from anyone but a true ace

1:49
Brendan: I got Alex Wood in a 6×6 QS and OBP league and I feel like I need another outfielder. Current outfield is Harper Choo and Billy Hamilton with merrifield on my bench. What one for one OFer would you target? Thank you!

1:49
Paul Sporer: A really good one, Wood has been unreal. But it depends what your market will bear, so you have to go shopping

1:49
Hardy Boys: Time to drop Thames and Owings in a 10-team H2H?

1:50
Paul Sporer: Ya I’m OK with either… I was so hyped on Thames 🙁

1:50
Dub: drafted J Ramirez, Turner & Rendon, which do I move in a redraft league for pitching? ie who has the worst 2nd half?

1:50
Paul Sporer: No idea who has the worst 2H, all three have been so excellent this year. Trade whichever returns the most. I’d go for Rendon first

1:50
Detroit’s Most Wanted: Happy Friday Paul, thanks for the chat. ROS would you rather have Glasnow, Luke Weaver, or Honeywell? 14 tm h2h pts

1:51
Paul Sporer: ROS it’s probably Weaver or the Glasnow with his new mechanics (though we don’t know when he’s coming up). Honeywell unlikely to start at any pt this year

1:52
Dub: should I trade Zach Britton if I can get a big return?

1:52
Paul Sporer: Yes, I mean you should trade anyone you can afford to lose if you’re getting a return that helps you

1:56
ThickTanPretzel: Hey man! Price’s elbow has me bent. Noticed Eickhoff has a creampuff schedule from here. Can I get your permission to hold him in a 12-team QS over guys like Kennedy, Corbin, Maeda (who never makes it thru 6…)?

1:56
Paul Sporer: I feel like Corbin has been rolling, but I don’t think he’s so much better than you can’t take the guy you want in Eick, so proceed as you wish

1:57
Chris: Have you had a chance to look deeper into Luis Castillo? Hoping that I grabbed a nice lottery ticket in my dynasty.

1:58
Paul Sporer: I have, I’m a huge fan of the raw stuff. There’s still work to be done for sure so expect bumps, but he’s had a DISASTROUS schedule and come out on the other side of it

1:58
1:58
Fellow Energy Drink Connoisseur: Keeper league where only 4 teams are ‘going for it’ this year. My pitching is in a world of hurt but I’m killing it on offense. Need to catch ‘lightning in bottle’ on cheaper arms people aren’t attached to as keepers.

Thinking Folty, Manaea, Eduardo Rodriguez. Like them ROS? Got any other names for me? (SP35+ type of territory). Thanks Paul!

2:02
Paul Sporer: Prefer Manaea most of that group, then Rodriguez and Folty. Here are the latest rankings http://www.fangraphs.com/fantasy/starting-pitcher-rankings-update-july…

2:02
Bart: What are your thoughts on Ryon Healy?  Should I keep him over Beltre in a dynasty league?

2:02
Paul Sporer: Ehh, I’m not sure he has a ton of upside, but I think he can live at this level for a few years

2:02
TP: Whats cookin Paul. Starting to panic about Donaldson over here. Production & profile both really disappointing. Do I try to sell, hoping I can still cash in on name value/high draft position? Or are you staying the course & waiting for him to turn it around? Afraid if I wait too long his value keeps plummeting.

2:03
Paul Sporer: It really depends on returns, so go ahead and shop him and see what’s out there for you, but you might have to ride it out. Sometimes the star-level dud seasons are unsellable and you just have to absorb it

2:05
Tony: What do you expect from Brad Peacock the rest of the way? Is he going to get any starts? lots of 3 IP relief appearances with 5 K and 2 BB?

2:05
Paul Sporer: I think it could be more of the latter, but we really have to see if they get an SP at the deadline. So I don’t have a firm handle on it right now

2:08
Matt: Dynasty league. Trying to buy rentals. Other team starting with T Turner. He’s willing to give up Conforto. Turner and Conforto on same contract. Are those two close to a wash?

2:08
Paul Sporer: Think Turner has a nice edge in fantasy value bc of the speed, but I love Conforto’s bat. If it’s rentals, why does contract matter, though?

2:08
rpo: How would you rank these keepers for next year (assuming same price): Bregman, Benintendi, G. Sanchez, Ozuna, C. Frazier?

2:09
Paul Sporer: Ozuna, Sanchez, Beni, Breg, Frazier

2:09
My Name: Which of your pre-season “plant my flag” guys have been the best and worst so far?

2:10
Paul Sporer: Paxton/Ozuna best; Cotton worst

2:10
Brandon: Have way too much hitting in 12tm categories league. Who would you most feel comfortable moving for a SP Upton CSantana Marte Pham JTurner

2:10
Paul Sporer: Upton/Marte/Turner are gonna bring the biggest returns. Try the first 2 first then go to Turner if you don’t like the offers for those guys

2:10
Matt: Thoughts on Darvish ROS?

2:11
Paul Sporer: A couple ugly ones recently, but I still believe he’s one of the game’s best arms. I wonder if the trade speculation impacts him or not. It’s different player to player. Some have it weigh on em, others couldn’t care less. Miami jumped him and just kept going

2:11
seth: Chances Gallo pulls a Judge and ups the contact rate to become a superhero?

2:11
Paul Sporer: 2%

2:11
Paul Sporer: *insert Jim Carrey meme*

2:15
Yondong: I’m in a full dynasty league. Machado + Pomeranz for Lindor + Sonny. Who do you take?

2:16
Paul Sporer: That’s really fair. I’d go Lindor personally, but I see zero gap between the two sides, tbh

2:16
James: Is devers worth picking up even with the Red Sox trading for Nunez? Still available in my league and could use a third baseman

2:16
Paul Sporer: Ya, they knew they were going for Nunez when they brought up Devers. Devers sits vL and Nunez bounces around giving guys breaks when they’re facing righties and Devers is at 3B

2:16
Detroit’s Most Wanted: everyone saying Verlander isn’t having a good season, but he has only given up more than 3 ER on 5 occasions this year and once since May 30th. He would be a huge asset to any contender. He would thrive in October.

2:17
Paul Sporer: You’re talking more real life baseball and I agree. A 4.50 ERA just looks bad, but so many teams would take 6 IP/3 ER every fifth day for sure. He hasn’t returned his draft day value for fantasy, though, with that ERA, plus a 1.44 WHIP and less than a K-per-IP

2:17
Paul Sporer: Love JV, but no way to say he hasn’t been bad for fantasy after being drafted as an ace

2:18
Jonas : Would you trade 3 more years of Margot + the rest of this year of Yu for the rest of this year of Khris Davis and Manaea (plus two extra years after).

2:18
Paul Sporer: If the power puts you over the top

2:18
Max: RE that Stroman-Fulmer Question: Why is Stroman walking the lineup all of a sudden?

2:18
Paul Sporer: He’s been battling blisters for a while now. He usually pitches through it, but it’s no doubt impacting his control

2:20
Tony: Danny Salazar sure looked good… he’s definitely giving up 5+ runs without getting out of the 3rd inning in his next start, isn’t he?

2:21
Paul Sporer: LOOOOL, probably. I certainly hope not, but ya we don’t wanna get TOOO nuts about the one start

2:21
Paul Sporer: The stuff was dead sexy, though

2:21
Jimmy Sak: I need a SS for the stretch run.  I send Smoak and I get Marwin Gonzalez?  I have Votto so first base is covered.

2:21
Paul Sporer: Perfect deal, works for both sides

2:26
50 shades of Sonny Gray: What is Moncada’s fantasy ceiling?

2:27
Paul Sporer: First round stud with power and speed. I think it’s more .275, but if we’re talking perfect world ceiling, I could see a .290-.300 where he just mashes his way beyond a relatively high K rate with 30+ HR/SB

2:27
Paul’s Friend: How much do you trust Trevor Cahill moving forward?

2:28
Paul Sporer: I’ve been starting him regularly in the leagues I have him. 10 tm streamer (but an on-team streamer, meaning he goes between reserve & lineup) and then in the lineup everywhere else

2:28
Beavis: What’s a reasonable expectation for Tanaka ROS? I’ve been using him as a spot-starter lately, but he keeps crossing me up.

2:28
Paul Sporer: That’s the tough part, you can’t really time his blowups bc they aren’t really team or venue related. I think you just gotta ride it out. low-4.00s with solid Ks and a good chance to win w/that pen and lineup

2:28
CraftyPils: thoughts on getting teams that are out of it to keep playing in a redraft league

2:29
Paul Sporer: that’s always a challenge. punishment for last? 1st pick for first spot out of the money?

2:29
Paul Sporer: just make sure ppl keep active lineups

2:29
Paul Sporer: shouldn’t be that hard to have everyone making sure they dont’ have DL’d guys in and end up falling back in standings bc of ignored lineups

2:30
Chris: In need of power. HanRam and Schwarber are available. Addison Russell, Ian Happ, Nick Williams, Ian Kinsler, and Jonathan Villar

2:30
Paul Sporer: The first 2 are your best bets. Schwarber might hit .220, but it’ll be with power

2:30
Bart: Hold Inciarte or pick up Bautista or Renfroe off waivers in a 12 tm h2h keeper lg.

2:30
Paul Sporer: Really depends on need since the profile between Inciarte and the pick ups are so diff

2:30
Evan: Paul! I have an opportunity to trade for Verlander or Tanaka. Who’s your target ROS?

2:30
Paul Sporer: JV

2:30
JT: Will Piscotty ever be more than a .270 15-20 HR guy?

2:31
Paul Sporer: Might have a .280/30 spike, but that’s about his level

2:31
Joe: Is it too much to expect an era of under 4 for Jon Gray for rest of season?

2:31
Paul Sporer: It’s not TOO MUCH to expect, but that’s not the biggest probability outocme

2:31
Paul Sporer: outcome*

2:34
Xander: Put me on the DL !!!

2:34
Paul Sporer: Wasn’t he playing Tuesday?

2:34
Paul Sporer: so can backdate a couple days

2:34
Paul’s Friend: Joc Pederson, Nomar Mazara, or Clint Frazier ROS..? Assuming Clint gets regular playing time going forward.

2:35
Paul Sporer: Not sure there’s a real discernible split between this group even w/Frazier playing regularly. I’ll go w/the order you listed, but it’s really personal preference

2:36
50 shades of Sonny Gray: I’m in a full dynasty league. Best fantasy pitching prospect currently in

2:36
Paul Sporer: Honeywell is my fave

2:36
Mean Tweeter: Would you rather have Neil Walker or Josh Reddick in your final UTIL spot in an OPS league?

2:36
Paul Sporer: Reddick

2:36
Jimmy Sak: Bradley Zimmer or Josh Reddick ROS?

2:36
Paul Sporer: Zimmer

2:36
Brandon: What type of SP should you target with guys like Upton/CSantana/Marte

2:36
Paul Sporer: Guys, these are impossible to answer

2:37
Paul Sporer: Bc it really depends what your league will give. It’s all about your individual market. Especially at this point in the season since draft day values don’t matter. Find someone who needs speed and you should be able to get a strong arm for Marte. Find someone more in need of power and then Upton/CSantana become appealing

2:37
Paul Sporer: Find your trade partners first then check their pitching and see who helps you most

2:37
Braník Best: Thanks. re: ottoneu change, 3 of the active owners have spoke out, so I hope it’s not happening.

2:38
Paul Sporer: Ya you need full consensus on big moves like that

2:38
Chief: Reason to be concerned about Bour in a 12tm H2H, with Zimmer/Kipnis/JBJ on the wire?

2:39
Paul Sporer: Obliques are a bitch. I’m cool going for Zimmer

2:39
Carlos Rodon: Buy, Hold, or Drop me?

2:39
Paul Sporer: Depends on league. Hold in keeper. Can drop in most redraft

2:40
Paul Sporer: Impressed w/Carson taking him there at 3 in 2011. That’s awesome. I hated it at the time

2:41
Paul Sporer: Ouch, Jonah

2:41
2:41
Paul Sporer: VV

2:41
JimmyBallgame: Indians starting to really hit their stride. This team is looking pretty dangerous, no?

2:41
Paul Sporer: Absolutely, they have a great shot to make it back

2:41
Nick: Is Pham real? Or is he sippin’ Cardinal’s devil magic?

2:42
Paul Sporer: Both can be true bc CDM MAKES you real! But I dig what he’s doing. His new contact lense solution to fix his degenerative eye issue has really helped and I think he has real talent

2:42
Johnny5alive: McCullers going to come back to form? Should I try to trade a keepable McCullers for non keepable greink and Cole? Kind of really need pitching having lost cueto (and his season anyway) and Kershaw. In second right now roto

2:42
Baby Eno: Paul I need some advice. Have to drop someone to activate Keuchel. Who’s it gunna be: Oh, Wilson, Cahill, E Santana? Points league

2:42
Paul Sporer: Oh

2:42
Chaz: Think Lynn moves by the deadline? If so where is your guess?

2:44
Paul Sporer: I think it really comes down to these next 2-3 gms. If they win the weekend, they might just hold and even add a  piece, otherwise they could move him

2:44
Paul Sporer: Hell, they could move him and still go for it bc Weaver can go into the rotation on a more permanent basis

2:44
Johnny5alive: You think it’s safe to trade for Dee Gordon in nl only?

2:44
Paul Sporer: Oh where you lose them in traded? I think so

2:44
Harsh: Sneaky high K save/hold guys that might be available in most leagues… guys like Phil Maton maybe? Do you have some names to keep in mind that could get 15 saves/holds down the stretch?

2:45
Paul Sporer: Scooped him in my NL Only a few weeks ago, but cut this week after acquiring Hand in a deal. He’s been really sharp. Agreed that he’s a nice Holds name

2:45
Kevin: Possibly dumb question, but who do you prefer ROS: Whit Merrifield or Robbie Cano?

2:45
Paul Sporer: Kevin….

2:45
Taylor: Time to move on from Alonso or are you buying a strong finish?

2:46
Paul Sporer: I wouldn’t cut him, no

2:46
marichal: Who do you want from the SD bullpen? Hand, Yates, Maton, or Capps?

2:47
Paul Sporer: Hand, but he could get traded, then Yates & Maton get the focus. Capps still in the minors

2:47
Darth V: Paul! Out of all the players currently in the minors today, who are you grabbing for 2018?

2:47
Paul Sporer: Ronald Acuna from ATL

2:47
Matt: Thames monthly splits indicate that June just really sucked, no?

2:48
Paul Sporer: And May. He’s been good in July, but 1B is so deep that I’m OK moving on in 10 teamers

2:48
Andrew: H2H Standard 5×5:
Do you think difference between Scherzer and Darvish rest of way warrants me trading Darvish AND Cano for Scherzer?

2:48
Paul Sporer: Eek, I have a hard time pulling that trigger

2:51
Texas: John Lamb is back from his suspension and has made 6 starts in AAA. He’s pitched like butt. Heard anything here? Is this just him getting back in the groove, and do you think there’s anything salvageable here?

2:51
Paul Sporer: I hadn’t realized he was even back. I’m not really interested anymore

2:51
seth: I have Kershaw and DPrice….le sigh 🙁

2:51
Paul Sporer: The SP injuries this year have been ROUGH

2:51
Bart: Will the Cards call up A Diaz and if so, can he return to 2016 form?

2:52
Paul Sporer: I don’t really see it. Hasn’t hit in Triple-A and Paul DeJong buys himself more leash every day

2:52
Marc: J. Montgomery back on track?

2:52
Paul Sporer: Ya, nice strong outing last time out. Just a bump for a few starts there

2:52
Marc: Willson Contreras is the ____ best catcher this year and next

2:52
Paul Sporer: 3rd

2:52
Landon: Hold Donaldson or try to sell for something decent

2:52
Paul Sporer: As long as that sell helps your team, you should entertain it

2:52
yojiveself: which SS for ROS – Story, Bregman or Simmons?

2:53
Paul Sporer: Story

2:53
JimmyBallgame: Bradley Zimmer is most likely to resemble ___________ in 5 years: A) Kenny Lofton B) David Justice C) Manny Ramirez D) Brian Giles

2:53
Paul Sporer: Grady Sizemore

2:53
Marc: Bregman’s ROS of season outlook? Any chance more HRs are on the way?

2:54
Paul Sporer: I think his projections are pretty dead on http://www.fangraphs.com/statss.aspx?playerid=17678&position=3B

2:54
Mike: Would you drop Justin Bour for Dominic Smith 12tm H2h?

2:54
Paul Sporer: No

2:54
Cw : May not contend for playoffs this- gave my manny, R. Hill, rivero for Xander, Thor, Devenski. Hated to give up manny, but fair with Thor’s long term upside?Keep forever league 10 team

2:54
Paul Sporer: Tough to give Manny, but you got a big time SS and ace in return so I can get behind it

2:55
Marc: 1-10, how worried are you for McCullers ROS?

2:55
Paul Sporer: 2 if it’s mechanics, 7 if it’s health http://www.fangraphs.com/fantasy/whats-up-with-lance-mccullers/

2:55
Mark: Justin Smoak, Carlos Santana or Kendrys Morales for the rest of the season.

2:55
Paul Sporer: Flip a coin. There’s no real split in that group so take your favorite

2:55
Scruffy-Looking Nerf Hurler: In a dynasty and look to be contending for a few years. Is Benintindi a good sell? Shouldn’t *need* him now but wondering if he’d get a better return in the offseason since he’s not tearing it up?  Or get what I can for this year as Flags Fly Forever?

2:56
Paul Sporer: Bad time to sell with the hype down

2:56
Paul Sporer: So you can shop him, but make sure it’s a healthy return or just hold. Still love his long-term outlok

2:56
Paul Sporer: outlook*

2:56
Andrew: H2H – Standard 5×5:
Do you think difference between Scherzer and Darvish rest of the way warrants me trading Darvish and Cano for Scherz?

2:56
Paul Sporer: I hate question repeaters. Yall are the worst

2:56
Paul Sporer: Patience. The queue fills up in like 5 minutes and I can only get to the Qs so fast

2:56
Terrence Mann’s books: Clev, Estrada, Lamet, Gausman, Rodon ROS…please rank. Thanks!

2:57
Taylor: As commish in a competitive 14 team league I proposed switching to QS instead of wins and met some backlash. What are your thoughts between the two categories? One big argument was QS only can be won my staters, whereas all pitchers can contribute in wins.

2:58
Paul Sporer: A fair contention, but maybe add Holds to keep RP value up and even add to it for non-closers?

2:58
Joey: Would you trade Benintendi for Pollock in a dynasty league if you plan to be competitive this season and next season?

2:58
Paul Sporer: Hmmm I wonder if Beni doesn’t have Pollock upside and then factoring Pollock’s injury history, I think I just stick with Beni

2:58
Ombudsman: P. $porer — you starting Chad Kuhl @ SD, Jaime Garcia @Oak, or Parker Bridwell @Tor tonight?

2:59
Paul Sporer: Garcia, Kuhl, Bridwell

2:59
Thelastguy: Jeff Samardzija or Luis Casitllo rest of way?

3:00
Paul Sporer: Still gotta go Shark, but it’s closer than most prob think

3:00
Michael: where do you see darvish going?

3:00
Paul Sporer: LA if anywhere

3:00
Hector: Since the catcher pool has been so weak this year, would you feel confident rolling with Ramon in a H2H league? Other viable options are Molina, Russell Martin, and Lucroy.

3:00
Paul Sporer: Is that Ramos? I’m fine with him, yes

3:00
Marcus: Should I be worried about Cahill being moved to a bullpen role in KC since rumors are they are looking for another starter?

3:00
Paul Sporer: Feel like Hammel would get moved out first

3:00
Bart: What happens to Clint Frazier when Hicks comes back?

3:00
Paul Sporer: He loses some PT, but so does Ellsbury

3:00
Joey: In your last SP rankings you had Godley at 40… do you see him moving up the list toward must start status?

3:01
Paul Sporer: Nah, I feel comfortable with him where he is rn

3:01
Chin Music: What do you think happens with Price now?

3:01
Paul Sporer: Whattya mean? He’s on the DL

3:01
Joey: Whit Merrifield has been a revelation for me this season and I’ve started to wonder if he has entered 12-team starter status at 2b?

3:04
Putin esca: My rendon and Correa for his smoak and Upton?  Need to make playoffs and Correa won’t help until playoffs.

3:05
Paul Sporer: Dang that’s a tough one. Why not just Correa for one of them? Seems unnecessary to ship Rendon, too. I’m ok moving Correa to help your playoff chances, but not this deal w/Rendon in it

3:05
ChicagoCardinal: Ugh – Traded for Price on Tuesday. Have he and Kershaw on DL now. With Kluber and Ray in my rotation still, is my best bet to go reliever heavy for a few weeks?

3:05
Paul Sporer: I imagine SP wire is thin? I’m ok piecing it together w/strong RPs

3:05
Johnny5alive: I wish dynasty trades worked like real life MLB trades. No way I’d get a rental like Duda for only a fringe middle relief prospect ?

3:05
Paul Sporer: Ya well we don’t have to field 8 teams of players, either

3:05
Lars: Brinson a 10-tema redraft grab yet?

3:05
Paul Sporer: Ehhhhh, probably not

3:05
Detroit’s Most Wanted: Are you holding David Dahl at this point? Has roughly 20 minor league games under his belt and is hitting the ball well (opposite field homer last night). Can he be an impact bat for fantasy playoffs? Feel if I have held this long, I need to wait it out.

3:06
Paul Sporer: Agree w/your last pt for sure. Just ride it out. I don’t doubt the talent, it’s a matter of getting him to up to play now

3:06
Lars: Nick Williams:  hold or stream in 10-team?

3:06
Paul Sporer: Stream

3:06
Mickey: Treinen the guy to grab in Oaktown?

3:06
Paul Sporer: Eno and I think so, yes

3:06
Ray Liotta as Shoeless Joe: What are some non-baseball podcasts you recommend?

3:07
Paul Sporer: If I Were You by Jake & Amir, Tony Kornheiser, Off Camera w/Sam Jones

3:07
kfalsjkdw: Is it time to bail on Kinsler in 10 teamers? Nothing really on the wire but I figure I might as well ride whoever has a hot bat

3:08
Paul Sporer: Think I’d just hold Kins, tbh.

3:08
OC: Thoughts on moving an fairly expensive yelich for a cheap Domingo Santana in a keep forever league? Basically hoping Santana’s mini-breakout is for real

3:08
Paul Sporer: I can get behind that

3:08
Jon: Thoughts on Marwin Gonzalez?

Paul Sporer: I  buy him. He’s probably more .850 OPS rest of way if I’m projecting, but maybe it’s just his dream season and he holds >.950

3:10
Peter : Traded Carlos Martinez for Jimmy Nelson and Rafael Devers. Great trade if Devers plays, do you think he is gonna get regular time the rest of the year?

3:10
Paul Sporer: Should be starting vR for the foreseeable future

3:10
kfalsjkdw: Are you shopping Faria? His peripherals seem to be creeping up a bit

3:11
Paul Sporer: Really like the stuff and think he’s a solid arm, but ya I’m shopping him after 9 starts at this peak hoping to find someone who buys this level or something close to it. I think he’s more 3.80-4.20 rest of way so you’ll be fine even if you can’t sell, but try to parlay the big start

3:11
JD Martin: Is Jordan Montgomery droppable in 10 team QS, K/9, BB/9, ERA, WHIP, NSV?  Or should I hold?  ROS projections aren’t great

3:12
Paul Sporer: I’d hold personally, I’m a big fan

3:12
Bryan: How do you feel about me giving up Khris Davis $7 for $18 Mccullers and $4 Mazara? 5×5 ottoneu

3:12
Paul Sporer: I really like that, espec. for the future

3:12
Alex: Is Aaron Nola becoming an ace before our eyes?

3:12
Paul Sporer: Let’s not get tooo crazy, but we did see this kind of pitching last yr before the elbow exploded. I buy the skills for sure and think he can eventually become a reliable fantasy ace, but we’re not there yet

3:13
Marc: Any post deadline SP call ups that can make a big Faria like impact? Honeywell, Glasnow, others?

3:13
Paul Sporer: Those are the 2 I’d key in on

3:13
Bill: Is Anthony Rendon now a superstar?

3:14
Paul Sporer: Gotta see back to back seasons, but I’ve always been a huge fan of the skills. He’s one of those where it’s only been health. The skills aren’t in question

3:14
kfalsjkdw: Do you or friends have any dumb nicknames for players you only use when around each other? I sure as hell do

3:15
Paul Sporer: Oh for sure. We also make up ones in my twitch streams. Freef = Freddie Freeman. We just call Kemp “Memp” bc of his spoonerism of Katt Memp. My friend says JD stands for Jerk Diggler for JD Martinez. plenty more, too

3:15
DB: re: Tigers run differential from 2006-16

Innings 1-5: +475
Innings 6+: +23

3:15
Paul Sporer: 🙁

3:15
Paul Sporer: Surprised it’s not -29362973647826348623864 in 6th on, but i guess we’ve had some lit offenses

3:16
seth: How much should I love Godley?

3:16
Paul Sporer: lottssss

3:16
Bean: Who closes for CWS ros?

3:16
Paul Sporer: Clippard lol

3:16
Danny: True Verlander has been a bust so far.  That being said, he has pitched better of late.  Do you see him as a nice buy low or 2 month rental for a contending fantasy team?

3:16
Paul Sporer: Ya I think you can still get him relatively cheap and he’ll be solid down the stretch

3:16
Tim: Any chance Hand keeps the closer seat in SD rest of season, or is this dude definitely getting moved?

3:16
Paul Sporer: If they can get the mint they seek, he’s gone

3:16
The Man With No Name: I like the guy in the comments section of the franchise draft who said Trout and Kershaw were among the worst picks.

3:16
Paul Sporer: LOL I was one such idiot

3:17
boris: What’s the better countdown – new years or the trade deadline?

3:17
Paul Sporer: Trade deadline for sure

3:17
Paul Sporer: OK yall, I gotta bust outta here after a couple more

3:17
The Man With No Name: Archer is a top X pitcher in 2018?

3:17
Paul Sporer: 25

3:17
Just Me: Most likely to be a closer on 8/1: Vizcaino, Blevins, Tazawa, Maton?

3:17
Paul Sporer: Viz, Maton, Blev, Taz

3:17
Kyler: in a keeper league would you invest in Joey Gallo? Think in spite of his average he’ll have playing time?

3:18
Paul Sporer: I’m not interested, tbh. I know the power is immense and he even chips in some speed, but you have to completely change your team setup to accommodate his AVG

3:18
GK: Now a good time to sell McCutchen?

3:18
Paul Sporer: Ya he’s beasting and you should be able to get a strong return

3:18
Jim Linecomb: If we submitted a question like 30-45 mins ago, should we re-submit or is it somewhere in the queue?

3:18
Paul Sporer: It’s in the queue

3:19
Paul Sporer: I can’t possibly get to all of them

3:19
Paul Sporer: When I’m about to wrap up, I move to the end of the queue to see if I missed any replies to stuff

3:19
Paul Sporer: That’s why I try to do a couple marathons each month to get more, but yall do a great job filling the queue like crazy

3:19
Billy Bob Thorton: Is Chris Taylor for real?

3:20
Paul Sporer: I think he can be low-.800s OPS w/some punch, speed, and defensive flexibility. Love that profile in deeper leagues

3:20
Matt: Re QS vs W: Saves can only be gotten by RP, so only fair to have QS

3:20
Paul Sporer: Oh ya, didn’t even think about that

3:20
seth: Springer to the DL with bulky quad

3:20
Paul Sporer: Damn

3:21
Paul Sporer: We just can’t have nice things

3:21
Cory: Paul, sorry I’m late.  Drop Broxton or Kepler for Pham in a keeper league

3:21
Paul Sporer: Brox

3:21
Andrew Triggskaidekaphobia: Is Kris Bryant enough of a return for Judge where judge can be kept in the 20th round in 2018 only?

3:21
Paul Sporer: Ya I’m cool with that

3:22
Paul Sporer: OK yall, I’m out for the day. Follow me on Twitter @sporer, I will answer questions there. Also can follow me on Snapchat at psporer (going to Boston next week w/the FG crew for our annual trip) and also I stream at Twitch.tv/psporer24. I play MLB The Show and answer lots of questions there, too. I’ll be streaming on Monday during the afternoon for the trade deadline so come in and ask questions during that as it’ll be just like this except video of my dumb face

3:22
Paul Sporer: Peace!
