Paul Sporer Baseball Chat – April 7th, 2017

Check out today’s chat. Lots of questions on Dylan Bundy, Kendall Graveman, and Brandon Finnegan.

2:11

Paul Sporer: Good afternoon, everyone! Let’s talk some baseball!

2:15

Loco: What to expect from Dylan Bundy?

2:15

Paul Sporer: He’s got season-changing upside. I’m excited.

2:15

Bobby: Hi Paul! I have Rendon at 3B in a 9 tm Roto OBP league. You think that would be OK for the season, or should I trade away for Longoria/Castellanos?

2:16

Paul Sporer: Wait you can trade him for both of those guys? He’s fine btw

2:16

Ryan: Man, Eno was totally downing your music picks, how do you respond?

2:16

Paul Sporer: I don’t care at all lol

2:16

Merv: David Peralta potentially a top 30 OF this season?

2:16

Paul Sporer: With health, yes. He was someone I scooped late a decent bit this year

2:16

Kris: Greinke still in the picture as a solid SP3? Few guys here seem to be bailing almost to the point of dropping him

2:16

Paul Sporer: Ya, it’s been one start

2:16

mtsw: How much do I need to panic as a Sam Dyson owner in a league where Matt Bush was snapped up by someone else?

2:16

Paul Sporer: A little. He got the vote of confidence. Let’s see a couple more appearances.

2:16

Jack: Realistic expectations for Wheeler this season?

2:17

Paul Sporer: Eh. 120-130 up and down innings

2:17

Andrew: Any hope for Joey Gallo or is ue back to aaa when Beltre is back?

2:18

Paul Sporer: I just don’t see anything different with him. He’s a Russell Branyan at best and we have plenty of those these days

2:18

Mikey Mike: Starting Gray tomorrow in coors vs LAD?

2:18

Paul Sporer: In deeper leagues, ya

2:18

Kris: Snell show anything? Or is he going to be a WHIP & K/BB killer again?

2:18

Paul Sporer: 5 BB. WHIP will be a challenge

2:18

Bryzzo Souvenirs: Castellanos or J. Turner? This season only.

2:19

Paul Sporer: Man that’s tough. I *love* both. Sticking with my preseason rank which had Turner ahead

2:19

Rake Lamb: Would you rather have Jankowski or Dyson in a 12 team H2H?

2:19

Paul Sporer: Dyson’s team feels more guaranteed

2:19

Merv: I’ve got Pujols, Bird, and Adrian Gonzalez to rotate between my 1B and CI slot in a 10-team. Gonna be okay, or look to upgrade?

2:19

Paul Sporer: That’s fine.

2:19

Michelle: Thoughts on Matt Harvey’s start last night?

2:21

Paul Sporer: Encouraging for sure. Piped a couple to Kemp, who is a great fastball hitter. I’d be pleased if I had him

2:21

Oliver: Do you see any potential in Russell Martin this year? Having a tough start. Thinking about dropping him for Leon.

2:21

Paul Sporer: No one is having a tough start yet, y’all. I would keep him over Leon for sure.

2:22

Paul Sporer: It hasn’t been a week. We’re still in the range where a 3 or even 2 hit game will DRASTICALLY change a guy’s triple slash. Y’all gotta get out of the mindset of thinking a week or two is a tough start. Hell, even three weeks of low .200s can be flipped with back to back good games.

2:22

Ken: Hey, Paul! Thanks for chatting. So for some reason I drafted Chen and Andriese with my last few picks. What do they have to do tonight to keep me from dumping them for a sure-to-be-stud on the wire?

2:23

Paul Sporer: Depends who is available. I think Chen will be a solid IP eater if healthy. Andriese I’m pretty meh on. Not sure either can show enough in one start to be surefire holds if you’re already considering moving on em, though

2:23

Chase: You okay dropping Jeanmar Gomez in a shallow 10-team?

2:23

Paul Sporer: Ya

2:23

Pat: How long would Moreland have to struggle before the Red Sox look for a replacement? And would Sam Travis be given first crack at the opportunity?

2:23

Paul Sporer: Month-6 weeks, I’d iimagine

2:23

Darin P: Hey Paul! I was offered Salazar/Longoria for my CMartinez/Polanco. Roto league. Can i get your thoughts please? Roto league that uses OBP and quality starts.

2:23

Paul Sporer: That’s a firm pass. I think you’re losing both ends.

2:23

Ted: Prediction on when we see Bradley Zimmer get called up?

2:24

Paul Sporer: Memorial Day

2:24

Tim: Thanks for the chat! Sure you’ll cover these guys plenty today, but if you had to rank them how would you order Graveman, Bundy and Finnegan?

2:24

Paul Sporer: Bundy, Finnegan, Graveman. Bundy a cut above the other two.

2:24

Snuds: What type of year do you expect from Michael Fulmer this season?

2:24

Paul Sporer: Little ERA backslide, but offset by more Ks and innings. Big fan.

2:25

Ted: Thoughts on Fulmer today? Depleted Sox lineup but me likely!

2:25

Paul Sporer: Sharp for sure, very good arm .

2:25

Billy Beane: Are you fully on board the Kendall Graveman bandwagon?

2:25

Paul Sporer: Not really on it at all, tbh. Impressive first start, so I’ll keep an eye out, though

2:26

bl27: surprise, Rich is out with blister problem. Kyle Gibson is the best SP available in my league. Do you like him vs Tigers next week ?

2:27

Paul Sporer: I’ve spent enough time on the Kyle Gibson train

2:27

jack : with Archie Bradley adding the cutter and looking great – will he get morphed into the phelps miller devenski role or closer role ? Worth a stash to see if this is legit in a 12 teamer ?

2:28

Paul Sporer: Would like to see him in that expanded role. So dumb that we only seem to have 6 IP or 1 IP guys. He and many others would fit well in between. We seem to be inching toward that again

2:28

Rudy: JA Happ was dropped in my league. Did he get hurt or look bad his last start? Wondering why he got dropped.

2:28

Paul Sporer: How many teams? Wasn’t he awesome in his first start? Add him

2:29

Big Tuna: Fulmer couldn’t seem to command the breaking ball today, but still came out unscathed. What were your thoughts?

2:29

Paul Sporer: Ya not perfect, but I was pleased with the outing

2:29

Paul Sporer: MCCANN BABY!!!!! LET’S GOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!

2:29

EwokOff: I’m curious what your thoughts are on Graveman?

2:30

Paul Sporer: Wanna see more. Never been a huge fan. Intrigued by switch to almost sinker-only approach

2:30

Gimpy: Any feedback on how Felix looked in his start ?

2:30

Paul Sporer: Not bad. Discussed him on the pod http://www.fangraphs.com/fantasy/the-sleeper-and-the-bust-episode-443-…

2:32

BigBopper: AL only, Roto, 12 team w 10 keepers, Auction tomorrow – tons of power available in the auction but not much in speed, what do you think of going after altuve, segura, andrus and then going for cheap power late? I figure those three will help my average, runs, and speed enough than any avg concerns with cheap power guys would be offset

2:32

Paul Sporer: I like it. Plus SBs easy to trade down the line

2:32

Richard: If forced to choose one, who do you own in the A’s pen right now?

2:32

Paul Sporer: Madson

2:33

bearproof: traded Holland/ Margot for Pedroia in a 14 teamer h2h….am i going to regret that? Pedroia was an upgrade over O.Arcia at MI.

2:33

Paul Sporer: Nah, I don’t think

2:33

Bert Campaneris: Are we ever going to see a platform that counts the offensive performance of pitchers? Or is the DH in the NL happening before that?

2:33

Paul Sporer: You don’t want that as much as you think do. A few homers aren’t worth the 0-fers

2:33

Mama: 16 team league, Owings at MI. I should be excited, fine, worried

2:34

Paul Sporer: It’s fine with a tinge of excitement

2:34

Big Tuna: I seem to always struggle staying under the innings limit in my league. Especially early in the season, how do you decide when to start a fringe guy (Gausman, Samardzjia) and when to run him out?

2:34

Paul Sporer: I generally just start my guys and don’t tinker too much early on barring a Coors start or something

2:35

Paul Sporer: So if you’re not streaming, you should be fine, then down the line you can decided to dial down or ramp up

2:35

Bert Campaneris: Taijuan or Bundy in a shallow 8-team league? Thanks!

2:35

Paul Sporer: Still Taijuan for me, but they’re close and both potential game-changers

2:35

Sox: The owner of Byron Buxton is already panicking in my AL-only league. Is this the opportune time for me to pounce, or is there reason for concern and I should shy away?

2:35

Paul Sporer: I’m not a huge Buxton guy, but if you can get a real discount, it’s worth pursuing

2:36

Sugar: Trade Goldy and Sanchez to land Trea, Yu, and Odubel in a 10-teamer? I also have Lucroy, making Sanchez expendable, and this is a one-catcher league. Thanks!

2:36

Paul Sporer: Ya that works

2:37

Dan: He is the purveyor of the SP Guide (on hiatus for ’17)….. Hiatus means it’s coming back? Why did it go away?

2:37

Paul Sporer: Yes. Time. Transitioning to full time at FG required a lot of my offseason time. I should be able to bring it back in ’18

2:37

Jim: Should I be worried about Arrieta?

2:38

Paul Sporer: I’m down on him by comparison to the market, but his first start was actually a bit encouraging outside of the velo. His stuff was moving nicely.

2:38

Big Tuna: I’ve read the recent Fangraphs articles that mention Toles and am intrigued. Should I be buying in a 12 team OPS league?

2:39

Paul Sporer: I’m a fan, but 12-teamers probably have someone better to pick up unless you’re using like 7+ reserves

2:39

Paul Sporer: Watchlist him

2:39

Mama: 16 team league pearce at corner. I should be excited, fine, worried

2:39

Paul Sporer: Fine with a tinge of excitement, just like the Owings answer

2:40

Rondell White: Let’s say the Royals have a terrible first half. Which of their soon-to-be free agents do you see them dealing?

2:40

Paul Sporer: Hos

2:40

Dave: Does Gerrit Cole ever figure it out? It seems he has all the talent in the world but can’t put it together.

2:41

Paul Sporer: Not sure I’d go that far in terms of suggesting he hasn’t put it together. He was hurt last year, but beyond that he has performed. It feels like he can do more, espec. w/the Ks, but 584 IP of a 3.28 ERA is pretty good through age 25

2:42

Sloth: Dylan Bundy’s next two starts are @BOS and @TOR, FWIW.

2:42

Paul Sporer: Won’t be easy navigating the AL Beast, but we knew that when we invested. Trying to time the right starts will likely end in disaster. In leagues where I drafted him, I’m just playing him

2:43

Dave: Stephen Strasburg a top 10 pitcher when healthy?

2:43

Paul Sporer: Absolutely, just rarely makes it through unscathed

2:43

Donner: should I drive 5 hours each way for Royals home-opener?

2:43

Paul Sporer: Def!

2:43

Sloth: Bryce Harper hits dingers.

2:43

Paul Sporer: Monster

2:43

Bert Campaneris: I need your help, Paul. Help a buddy out! I am in a 14-tm (8×8 cat league, OBP & QS are some of the added cats). I am trying to get a shortstop. Right now I am platooning Alcides Escobar and Danny Espinosa (yawn). I am willing to trade the ToddFather and AJ Ramos. Who should I target? Villar, Baez, BCrawford, Andrus? Thanks for the help.

2:44

Paul Sporer: If you can get Villar, he’s the guy for sure. I’d look at Crawford after that as he’d likely come a little cheaper than the others

2:44

Twinkie: Still have hope for Jose Berrios? When should we expect to see him get called back up?

2:44

Paul Sporer: Certainly. A couple weeks, especially if h excels at AAA again

2:44

Ryan: Just kidding about the music, someone pointed out you had better music picks in an Eno chat, and Eno took it to heart.

2:45

Paul Sporer: It’s all about preference. There’s one crybaby who literally whines about my music EVERY chat, lol. The videos don’t autoplay, just skip em!

2:45

Paul Sporer: Ya crybaby, I’m talkin to you, leave your usual msg and I’ll laugh at you

2:45

Big Tuna: Eno mentioned SwStk% and movement as two key metrics to measure for pitchers? Is there a way to find out what the average is to compare the numbers?

2:45

Paul Sporer: I have my bookmark for it on the other computer, so hit up Eno on Twitter and he’ll help ya there @enosarris

2:46

Big Tuna: Was offered Peralta for Pearce in a 12 team OPS. In a vacuum, would you do it?

2:46

Paul Sporer: No

2:46

Jerj Clooners: Who am I dropping for Bundy: Robbie Ray, Carlos Rodon, Vince velasquez

2:46

Paul Sporer: How many teams? I guess Rodon bc he’s hurt. Can’t DL him?

2:46

Eno’s Curly Hair: Your thoughts on Andrew McCutchen? He a top 20 OF this year?

2:46

Paul Sporer: He’s a possible top 20 of course bc he’s uber-talented, but I didn’t quite rank him that high

2:46

Lars: Mazara looks great so far. This the year for a big step forward?

2:47

Paul Sporer: Very possible. I drafted him with that in mind and his price was such where even if he doesn’t, you’re not out much

2:47

cj: how many leagues you in this year? also you have a favorite format?

2:48

Paul Sporer: 10! I cut back significantly and I’m loving it. Nearly halved the total. Still love a 15-team mixed draft and any auction

2:49

Pat: Following up on the Moreland question, does Sam Travis get the first shot at replacing him? Thanks!

2:49

Paul Sporer: I think he’d get a look relatively quickly if they were looking to make a move, unless this Selsky guy jumps up and does something

2:49

Mama: 16 team team league. My sp are Arrieta, archer, duffy, quintana, guasman, mccullers, j Ross and folty. Should I be shopping an sp or stay put because sp’s so volital?

2:50

Paul Sporer: Even though I’m not a huge Arrieta fan, this is a strong staff for sure

2:50

Harper: Harper is going to be a beast this year, isn’t he?

2:50

Paul Sporer: Health is the only barrier. The ONLY one.

2:50

Melvin: Any cause for concern with Yu after his shaky first start?

2:50

Paul Sporer: No

2:50

James: just cut Jose Reyes for Reynolds on my h2h league. Good move or nah?

2:51

Paul Sporer: Seems fine enough. Both mid level options

2:51
2:51

Paul Sporer: Broxton as long as his face is OK. Good thing he had the flap yesterday

2:52

Yosemite Sam: What would be the expected win total of a team full of replacement level players?

2:52

Paul Sporer: Feel like Effectively Wild or maybe Carson has tackled this and came to something like 50 maybe

2:52

Bobby Ayala: Thinking of offering Lester and Buxton for Urias and Gerritt Cole. Keeper league. Am I making a mistake?

2:53

Paul Sporer: # of teams would be important, but either way it’s not a *mistake*, no

2:53

Mama: Please rank these 5 of options. Inciarte, kepler, tomas, haniger, revere

2:54

Paul Sporer: Inciarte, Haniger, Tomas, Revere, Kepler

2:54

Guest: $2 Kepler or $4 JBJ? 12-team. AVG, OBP, R+RBI, TB, HR, SB

2:54

Paul Sporer: JBJ

2:54

Loren: Maikel Franco a 10-team 3B for you?

2:54

Paul Sporer: Def

2:54

Sterling Mallory Chris Archer: I stashed Carter Capps on the DL but now it’s filled with Hill. Is Capps going to close at any point this year or is he droppable to free up a DL spot?

2:54

Paul Sporer: He could feasibly, but I think Maurer holds it

2:54

Chuck: Time to cut bait on Deshields for maybe a David Peralta?

2:55

Paul Sporer: Not if you believed in him. I like Peralta, but I’d try to have both

2:55

James: What in the hell is wrong with Rich Hills finger? How is t possible that a professional baseball team with access to some of the best sports doctors can’t seem to get past a simple blister? I mean what the hell is this thing a parasite?

2:55

Paul Sporer: I think your mistake is thinking it’s a simple blister, otherwise it’d have been handled

2:56

Paul Sporer: Fans and analysts greatly underrate the impact of a blister

2:56

MattyMo: Archie Bradley is better suited in the rotation or as the closer?

2:56

Paul Sporer: In between, tbh. A good 2-3 IP guy

2:56

Paul Sporer: OK, we’re all set on Bundy, Graveman, and Bradley Qs for the day! They seem to be the popular ones.

2:56

Paul Sporer: Brb, gotta take Charlotte out

3:01

Ken Patera: In terms of an 11-team AL-only, is Jason Hammel worthy of being rostered?

3:01

Paul Sporer: Yeah for sure, that’s a deeeep league

3:01

Jerj Clooners: Looking for an SP eligible guy in a holds league, who do you take: David Phelps, Chris Divenski, Archie Bradley, Jorge de la rosa

3:01

Paul Sporer: Devenski or Phelps

3:01

MattyMo: Over/Under on a 3.55 ERA for Michael Fulmer this year?

3:01

Paul Sporer: I had him closer to 3.40, but the difference between 3.40 and 3.55 is nothing over 190+ IP, so it’s a good number

3:02

Paul Sporer: JFC K Rod

3:06

Eggman: should I give up Franco ($19) for Longoria ($18)? both 3 year keepers. thanks.

3:06

Paul Sporer: Franco for me

3:06

Bryzzo Souvenirs: Almost 20 mins and no Puig questions??? Isn’t there some sort of rule? SO… I respect your analysis, so ballpark guess on the spot what his final line is, assuming 550AB?

3:07

Paul Sporer: I’m a huge fan so maybe they knew better than to ask me. If the hammies hold up, he’s a beast. .285 and 25

3:08

Chuck: Have an opportunity to grab one of Odubel, Joc or Thames in a 12T Dynasty. Suggestions?

3:08

Paul Sporer: Pederson for me

3:08

Darren: OBP League, 12 team: Have Zunino at C: Available C include Yadier Molina, Rupp, Cervelli, Vogt, Hedges, D’arnaud. Which should I pick up

3:09

Paul Sporer: Literally any of them

3:10

Noah: Kiermaier, Broxton or Mazara?

3:10

Paul Sporer: KK is my favorite

3:12

MattyMo: Did Keon Broxton break his face? I hope he is okay…

3:12

Paul Sporer: The flap saved him

3:13

Bill: Harper dinger. Do you think he gets 35+, .300+ BA?

3:13

Paul Sporer: I do, yes

3:14

AJ: How do you rank Travis shaw compared to bird and healy

3:14

Paul Sporer: Behind them, but close

3:16

dave in slc: listened to the pod cast and came away confused on cole and taillon did they stay the same or move up or down to you?

3:17

Paul Sporer: Pretty even on both

3:17

Eggman: my auction draft was horrible as I was a little distracted by my buddy’s gf’s ankle bracelet. have pollock on last year of contract for $10. would reasonable return be a #2 like cmart?

3:17

Paul Sporer: Ya, I love CMart. Maybe you can get a hitter involved, too, since you’re giving such a cheap Pollock

3:18

dave in slc: do your march sp ranks reflect matz missing time or is down further now?

3:18

Paul Sporer: No, I am aiming at finishing an update for early next week

3:19

Pat: What to do with Joe Ross? Store on the bench and wait or add Ervin Santana for a 10 team league?

3:19

Paul Sporer: I don’t mind Big Erv, but I’d sit tight on Ross

3:19

MattyMo: The podcast is so busty, big fan

3:19

Paul Sporer: LOL, ty

3:19

Rockar : I figure Pineda will be on my waiver wire soon enough… Should I pick him up?

3:19

Paul Sporer: Meh. How many teams?

3:21

dave in slc: keeper league can you rank j Pederson, dahl and desmond?

3:21

Paul Sporer: Joc, Des, Dahl

3:21

Dave: Zack Greinke?

3:21

Paul Sporer: Pitcher for Arizona

3:23

Joe: Graveman over Zach Davies?

3:24

Paul Sporer: If you want. I’m more Davies rn, but it’s close enough to flip if you prefer KG

3:24

Big Tuna: re: innings limits. I filled my bench with some intriguing arms like Morton, Anderson, etc. Would you start them too or see how they fare first before throwing them into the lineup?

3:25

Paul Sporer: I like Morton so I’d be starting him from the jump. Anderson you can pick spots, espec. w/him being in Coors

3:25

Jerj Clooners: Are you a Bregman guy? I have him in a keep forever league and wonder if I shouldn’t sell high on him now. Some of those exit velo numbers that were posted on the site aren’t great.

3:25

Paul Sporer: I am, but you can almost certainly sell him for a mint so I’d test those waters, too

3:27

Frank: Does Aaron Sanchez have another level or is this pretty much who he is? Still really good, but I wonder how good he could be?

3:28

Paul Sporer: He could *maybe* start to get some more swings-and-misses and add to the K%, but that was a pretty excellent season and it’d be tough to expect more

3:28

JVizzle: 12 team rotation: Archer-deGrom-Stroman-Nola-Wacha-Miller-E.Santana. Your thoughts?

3:28

Paul Sporer: Strong, I like it

3:28

The Grouch: Dynasty league: Honeywell or De Leon?

3:28

Paul Sporer: Honeywell

3:28

Bill: Were you disappointed in Taijuan Walker’s start? He seemed like the same old Walker.

3:29

Paul Sporer: Not disappointed, but it wasn’t awe-inspiring. I’ll have patience with him for sure.

3:29

Eggman: I’m optimistic of a Puig breakout. hitting cleanup today against lefty. do you think he’s a top 25 OF ROS?

3:29

Paul Sporer: Certainly possible. The hammies need to hold up. Injury has been at the center of his struggles

3:29

Kyle: Leon? or stick with Beef Welington Castillo? OBP league.

3:29

Paul Sporer: Beef for me in Baltimore

3:29

Jake T: Andrew Toles puts on one of the best BPs I’ve ever seen. Just saying there. How would you rank Gausman, Tijaun and Jon Gray? I LOVE Gausman but maybe I’m a little biased as a Yankees fan who has seen him at the top of his game quite a bit

3:29

Paul Sporer: KG, Taijuan, Gray

3:30

Paul Sporer: I really like Toles, but I think he’s fringe in 10/12. Definitely rostering him in 15+ teams

3:30

Paul Sporer: LET’S GOOOOO MAHTOOOK!!!!!!!

3:31

Chris: How’s Charlotte doin?

3:31

Paul Sporer: I freaked her out with my clapping after Mahtook’s 2B, but otherwise great

3:32

David: Eichoff. Matt Moore. Ed Rodriguez. What’s your order?

3:32

Paul Sporer: That’s the order

3:32

Brett: You sitting Bundy next week @BOS and @TOR in 12 team mixed? Perfect chance to sit and see if he’s real imo.

3:32

Paul Sporer: I’m not, no. I’m starting in the Tout H2H

3:32

Pete: I need SP help, and the waiver wire is bare. Are Dillon Overton and/or Jordan Montgomery worth speculative pick-ups?

3:32

Paul Sporer: :vomit: I guess. 34 team AL only?

3:32

Hannah Hochevar: Michael “Glass Half” Fulmer looking solid.

3:32

Paul Sporer: LOL, agreed

3:32

Edwin: should i care that bellinger’s sitting out there on waivers?

3:33

Paul Sporer: Depends on league type

3:33

Paul Sporer: Y’all gotta include team count and league type. C’mon, that’s 101 stuff!

3:33

Josh: Better DL stash in a vacuum, Matz or Capps?

3:33

Paul Sporer: Matz

3:33

tradefever: is gray+cole a fair price for yu?

3:33

Paul Sporer: Yes

3:33

Matt: Gattis not playing everyday, any concerns having him in 1 catcher 10 team points leagues ??

3:33

Paul Sporer: Nah, not yet. It’s v early.

3:33

Mama: Better season mccullers or bundy?

3:34

Paul Sporer: McCullers

3:34

KD: Was offered Finnegan for Toles, NL Dynasty, yeah or nah?

3:34

Paul Sporer: If you need pitching, it’s fair. I like both

3:35

InTheCards: Trade my Springer and Lester for his Trout in a H2H points league? My SPs would then be Yu, Quintana, DeGrom, Keuchel, Fulmer, McCullers

3:35

Paul Sporer: Do it

3:35

Tony: Should I roll Severino out in Baltimore today? I know you’ve answered a few already about just going with your guys, but it’s kinda scary.

3:35

Paul Sporer: Ya I can understand the trepidation. Without knowing how many teams, it seems like a deep lg. You can pass if you’re worried

3:36

Cw: Should I look to flip JV in a 10 team keeper or hold? Love the stats and think he will roll through the season, but get out while the getting is good? I rather be a year early…

3:36

Paul Sporer: I mean, if you can improve your team, go for it. But I don’t have any fears with him this year

3:36

toki: Please rate these 3 1b options: J.Bell, G.Bird, T Joseph

3:36

Paul Sporer: Bird, Joseph, Bell

3:36

JD15: What is conforto’s story this year? Any chance he gets playing time with TC as manager or will he need trades to occur?

3:36

Paul Sporer: He’ll get PT vR, but it seems like he’s a platoon guy still

3:37

Nolan: Trea Turner gonna be a top ten guy this season?

3:37

Paul Sporer: Jason and I hope since that’s where we took him

3:37

Blee blu: whats your take on maeda? would you own finny in a ten teamer dynasty

3:37

Paul Sporer: Solid arm. I like Maeda a decent bit. Finny is borderline in a 10 teamer

3:37

Cw: Finnegan, just a streamer in a 10 tm keeper? Nova and others on the wire

3:37

Paul Sporer: I like Nova more

3:37

Eggman: recommendation for learning how to improve auction draft strategy?

3:37

Paul Sporer: Do more of them, even if it’s mocks

3:38

Paul Sporer: Just going through several is the way to get better, even though they’re all different

3:38

Edwin: is khris davis too much for bundy?

3:38

Paul Sporer: Ya, probably

3:38

David: What is happening with VV?!?

3:38

Paul Sporer: Not watching rn. Will have to catch up later. Watching my Tigers

3:38

Matt Damon: MATT. DAMON.

3:38

Paul Sporer: :thumbs up:

3:39

Enlightening Round: So about the Tigers bullpen…………..

3:39

Paul Sporer: msgs from every year

3:39

Enlightening Round: Is McCarthy mixed league worthy while healthy? 12 teams

3:39

Paul Sporer: Ya, I mean, I guess

3:39

Roman: Taillon and McCullers for my Carrasco? Who says no?

3:39

Paul Sporer: He should, but might not

3:39

Dungeon Master: Paulie!!! Guy in my league is hot after Mazara, would you deal him and C-eligible Schwarber in 12 tm dynasty for Kris Bryant? 6×6 w/ walks

3:40

Paul Sporer: I would. Good parlay of hype to consolidate into elite talent.

3:40

Big Tuna: Rendon looks awful. Just swinging through fastballs down the d*@k.

3:41

Paul Sporer: Likely just a timing slump similar to Arenado’s in the WBC. Suuuuper early.

3:42

Bored: Add Mark Reynolds for Tommy Joseph while Desmond is out?

3:42

Paul Sporer: Sure, not too different but go for the Coors bump

3:44

Bryan: Is Adam Conley a good stream tomorrow @ NYM?

3:44

Paul Sporer: Depends on league size, but it’s not a bad option

3:44

Snowflake: Someone in my 12 team mixed league draft Pinata for $22. How hard should I laugh about that?

3:44

Paul Sporer: Very, even before the season debut

3:44

Duder: 14team H2H and I’m short on starters. Would you rather take a flier on Mike Montgomery or Devenski, or someone unsexy (but with a job) like a Conley or McCarthy?

3:45

Paul Sporer: I’d go for the unsexy SP. Prefer Conley, but could play matchups w/those 2

3:45

Guest: Is Ryan Zimmerman back? I heard his exit velocities are looking great!

3:45

Paul Sporer: It’s all about health w/him.

3:45

Gabe: Drop Cotton for Bundy? QS+W league

3:46

Paul Sporer: Ya, love Cotton obv, but prefer Bundy here

3:46

Ryan: How did you become a Tigers fan?

3:46

Paul Sporer: Grew up in Allen Park

3:47

Evil Goatee Ken Tremendous: Forget Harper, did you see Kung Fu Panda?!

3:47

Paul Sporer: Well, so much for that

3:47

Hannah Hochevar: Some were keen on Joe “JK” Kelly getting saves this year but he looks milky. Hold him or spec on Tigers?

3:48

Paul Sporer: Milky? LOOOL no idea what that means, but it’s hilarious

3:48

HappyFunBall: Is Vince Velasquez the pitching embodiment of TTO? His performance today has been vintage so far!

3:48

Paul Sporer: Hahaha, I’m gonna watch later

3:48

John: Vogt or Cervelli in an AVG, OBP and SLG 1-catcher league?

3:48

Paul Sporer: Vogt

3:48

Hot Dog King of Chicago: Thoughts on Cotton? Holding down the back end of my rotation but Eickhoff, Bundy, Shoemaker are on waivers. Rather have any of those guys?

3:48

Paul Sporer: Love Cotton, but prefer all three. Prioritize Bundy

3:49

Sterling Mallory Chris Archer: VV has 10 Ks through 4 innings. Scherzer has a no h***er going. No question just wanted to point this out.

3:51

Paul Sporer: Can’t wait to watch!

3:51

MIKEY MAHTOOK: HOW YA LIKE ME NOW

3:51

Paul Sporer: !!!!

3:51

Bill McGill: Stay patient with Tommy Joseph? Thinking of dropping him for Haniger

3:51

Paul Sporer: Yes in general to the question, but I’d also get Haniger over him

3:52

Snowflake: Better vacuum, Dyson or Hoover?

3:52

Paul Sporer: lolz

3:52

Bert: Ryu or Graveman?

3:52

Paul Sporer: Hmmm…. that’s one closer. Go Ryu as long as he’s healthy

3:52

Pat: AL only, time to cut bait on Chris Carter. Not getting much playing time other than a PH

3:52

Paul Sporer: Not unless you have someone you really wanna pick up

3:52

Evil Goatee Ken Tremendous: Never mind about that perfect game comment.

3:53

Paul Sporer: haha

3:53

Polanco’s Shoulder: Am I concerning enough to make me a Sell at this early point in the season?

3:53

Paul Sporer: I hope not. It cooled some of my hype on him, but I’m not selling

3:53

Guest: Is VV the most frustrating pitcher to watch right now? 4 IP, 10 k’s…and 4 earned, 3 walks, 100 pitches

3:53

Paul Sporer: Young pitchers. They can be maddening

3:53

Lonnie: Do you ever leave a player on your bench and take a zero in your lineup in the case of extreme matchups (think a slumping Maikel Franco against Scherzer) rather than risk an 0-for-4?

3:53

Paul Sporer: No

3:53

Roman: Margot or Dyson tonight…need a SB. Thanks Paul

3:54

Paul Sporer: Dyson

3:54

Evil Goatee Ken Tremendous: JaCoby Jones is the center fielder Detroit has been waiting for!

3:54

Paul Sporer: Let’s hope. Been impressive three games in

3:54

Greg Maddux: Buxton for Bundy… Fair trade?

3:54

Paul Sporer: Yep

3:54

JAL: At this point can I drop Ottavino in a 12-tam 5×5 (saves)?

3:54

Paul Sporer: Yep

3:54

Rick: What message would you have for those concerned over Arenado’s poor WBC performance?

3:55

Paul Sporer:

Z: Hi Paul – long time listener to Sleeper podcast. my RP situation is Jansen, Davis, Kimbrel, Iglesias, and Diaz, with Rosenthal and Capps on the DL. Someone is interested in Iglesias, and offering Forsythe/WYChen for Iglesias/Rosenthal. Should I trade and pick up a couple more relievers, or stay the course for a couple weeks? (it’s been three games…)

3:55

Paul Sporer: If you need help at 2B or MI, then yes. I really like Forsythe and think Chen gets back on track this year

3:55

nava hagilia: aaron judge hits # _ homers this year

3:55

Paul Sporer: 23

3:55

Mom: How good do you expect Tyson Ross to be?

3:55

Paul Sporer: I’ve written off 2017, tbh. I have zero expectations

3:56

Melvin the Trucker: Who do you think is closing out games in June for the Tigers?

3:56

Paul Sporer: Joe Jimenez if they’re out of it. K-Rod if they’re still contending. I don’t think he’s losing his job today.

3:56

Skullz: You a buyer of the Eric Thames hype?

3:56

Paul Sporer: Ya, pretty much

3:57

Paul Sporer: Let’s goooooo!! Tigers win!!!

3:57

DS Long: Start Asdrubal or Owings at SS tonight? Stream Dickey @PIT tomorrow in a 16 team mixed H2H?

3:57

Paul Sporer: Owings and sure re: Dickey stream

3:57

Houzer : Bundy or Wacha?

3:58

Paul Sporer: Wacha, but close. We discussed them yesterday http://www.fangraphs.com/fantasy/the-sleeper-and-the-bust-episode-443-…

3:58

Hold?: Yahoo just awarded Heath Hembree a hold. I don’t get that. Do you?

3:58

Paul Sporer: I rarely understand holds

3:58

Mike: I hate it in H2H leagues when guys on my fantasy team aren’t doing as well as guys on my opponent’s fantasy team

3:58

Paul Sporer: Same lol

3:58

Erich: David Peralta: Platoon going to take away too much PT or still viable OF in a 12 team league?

3:58

Paul Sporer: Still viable. He’s on the strong side and can be a total stud when healthy

3:58

Wright: Any guys that have really jumped out at you so far this year? Good or bad?

3:59

Paul Sporer: Been impressed w/Jacoby Jones in Detroit. My Tigers are the only games I’ve watched ENTIRELY so far. I bounce around a lot in the first week or two

3:59

Gregg: Trade Hanley and Holland to land Cespedes in 10-team?

3:59

Paul Sporer: Sure, that works

3:59

Jack: Shelby v. Finnegan ROS (QS + K9)

3:59

Paul Sporer: Prefer Shelby, but difference is minimal between ’em

4:00

Bill: What do you expect from Mesorco this yr?

4:00

Paul Sporer: Not much. I’m done placing any expectations on him

4:00

Hannah Hochevar: Real talk: is it worth speculating on the Tigers pen? Deep al only, naturally.

4:00

Paul Sporer: I mean, keep an eye out, but it’s not like it’s brimming with great options. I do like Joe Jimenez in the minors, but if he were the lockdown answer, he’d be on the team

4:00

Paul Molitor: Why was Park sent down? When will he be back up?

4:01

Paul Sporer: Not sure, gotta be frustrating for him after beasting in spring. A couple weeks?

4:01

Paul Sporer: OK, y’all, I gotta get going

4:01

Paul Sporer: Thanks so much for hanging out.
